pirates of the celestial republic
prologue: status on my coffee.
"commander bold, sir." an orange mare said with a salute.
commander bold hoof turned and returned the saluted to the mare. "comms officer. update on general ship status, and update on my coffee."
"sir, shields charged 87% and charging, this isdue to the fact that internal reactor 3 is down and we are drawing from 1,2,4 and 5, light drive is operational, railguns charged, gatling guns stocked, missle salvos are not armed but can be up in 15. and here is your coffee, ammericano, three sugars and cream, sir." the comms officer said flicking through a clear tab commputer.
bold hoof took his coffee with his kenisis and sipped the hot contents. "ooooo, damn that coffees good, comms officer double the reactor power and charge the sheilds. dissmissed."
the mare saluted once more and took her post at the comms desk. bold placed his coffee on his armrest and laid back in his chair, as he stared around the bridge of his ship, the resolute, a leviathon class warship. he could see through the thick plexi glass of the rectangular bridge to see the other 5 ships of the convoy.
suddenly the comms officer whiped her head around and pressed her hoof against her headset. "sir,urgent ERT, level red."
"play on holo projector."
"sir."
the lights around the bridge dimmed and the roof projector relayed an image into the centre of the room of a colt with a bruised eye, he looked panic stricken and spoke with a sense of urgency.
"this is the UCR freighter, angoss. broadcasting to any ships in the vicinity of system circini, we are under heavy fire from 3 pirate vessels they have breached our hull and have raiders onboard." an explosion rocked the image, but the colt managed to regain his composure. "shit! please somepony, anypony, please respond." the image was rocked by a second explosion and cut to static.
"comms officer, how far is that freighter?"
"sir, with light drive at full capacity we can reach it in around 3 minutes, sir."
"alright, patch me through to all ships and all intercomms please."
"patching you through now sir."
"this is commander bold hoof, we are about to jump to help a freighter under attack by pirates, we will jump in 30 seconds, prepare for imediate combat." as he finished his speach the lights around each ship dimmed and turned red and a computer voice spoke through the intercomm.
"general quaters all hands, man your battle stations. this is not a drill, i repeat, this is not a drill."
ponies on all ships suddenly burst into life, jumping from bunk beds, manning cannons etc.
"helmsman, punch it." bold hoof said.
the helmsman pushed the throttle into the forward position and activated the light drive. the ship shook violently and the other ships cracked from view, the wirring from the engines continued then powered down.
"helmsman why are we not there yet?" bold commented sarcasticly.
"uhhhh.... well sir i have no idea. im trying to figure it out now."
"have you disengaged the external initial dampner?" said a khaki coloured colt from across the bridge.
bold cocked his head and smiled at the helmsman as he used the holokeys to desengage the dampner.
"ready to jump sir."
"lets punch it." he said, as once more the helmsmanpowered the throttle and the vissible stars and planets cracked out of sight.
