Jack Spade. I work in canterlot as a biochemist/researcher. Currently, i juggle life between my job, my daughter and my research. Plus keeping track of how much i spend on what, but being a scientist, i have some leway. First; my job. My job isnt easy. I am in charge of catologging certain things into the library, sorting errors and creating new tasks and cures to test in the lab. Princess Celestia has appointed me the head reasearcher and expects a lot out of me. Right now, im working on a cancer cure. Its my own design, the DNA is engineered to target cancer cells and reverse the damage. However, its still in the early stages and needs some work. We use rats and work from there. Under my wing (litereally) is Petry Eon. He's a few years behind, but hes bright and ready to do anything. I give him tasks that are a bit challenging becuase i know he can handle it. He's also become my best friend. Second, my daughter. Honey spade, my pride and joy in life. Shes now a teenager and i couldnt be happier. She's starting to really become a mare, and quite a tease to other boy's around. It worries me, but i know one day, she will leave to marry. So, I want to enjoy the time we have together. She's not as much a scientist as am, but she's still willing to help me when ever possible. Today, I introduce my new technology to the princess's in hopes to get funded to expand my research and hopefully one day rid equestrian and possibly other lands of cancer and deadly disease. Walking into the throne room, my heart was trying desperately to beat out of my cheat, seat dripping down my brow. I admit, I am nervous, but I know it will pay off in the end if my proposal is approved. With high hopes, and a few breathes, I enter. Honestly, my biggest concern is convincing Princess Luna of this new tech. Being one that has been away for some time, she ma not take the idea to heart right away from my experience. Celestia was a bit more easily convinced than most pony's. Never one to turn down a bad idea, always booking for a new way to help us, her subjects. Still, I hesitated before approaching them both on the throne. "Jake spade, i welcome you to the castle." Princess Celestia smiles at me. I bow respectively and gulp down my rising fear. "Your highness's." I look to Luna, who at the moment do sent appear to be pleases for some reason. My heartbeat quickens a little, if possible, and I turn my gaze back to Celestia. "Your highness, we've had a break through in the Labs. The DNA is responding to the cancer cells like e hoped and if given enough time, we I'll have a cure for cancer." She perks up her ear's, listening. "Oh? Tell me, does it work?" I take a breathe and nod. "The rats web used it on have had a reduction in cancer cells and are improving in health as we speak." I say with new found, if any confidence. A scoff from the lunar princess, however, makes my heart skip a beat. Exactly what I was afraid of. "How can we trust this new technology? Have you tested it on ponies yet?" Her voice strong, full of royal just. "W-well, I've seen the results myself and I can asur you, it works and will improve overtime." I say with a shaky voice, borderline confidence.
