Very few ponies in modern Equestria have even considered life without magic, and the whole Tirek incident only solidified many pony's belief in one simple fact. Life without magic, well, it's unheard of! Unimaginable, even! To many ponies, it would seem that life without magic is an impossibility. But is it?

Once, a very long time ago, before the princesses ever came to Equestria, there was one small tribe of ponies, forgotten by the magically gifted members of their species, who were left to live on their own, in a single small settlement. Without magic, life could often be hard and gloomy, but they made do, and some were even happy with their way of life.

But then, one day, the entire settlement found itself turned upside-down by the arrival of two small fillies.
