Not Every Pony Standing Is Breathing
The sound of wings was all that I heard when it first started, when everything went to hell. I was not sure what was going on, so being myself, who just wanted to live a normal life, who just wanted to be normal, and not have a crazy uncle, or have to "save the world" or be important. I just wanted to be me, and live happily.
A hoof hit me in the stomach and I turned to see a pony had fell into me. I blinked still wondering, what was wrong with everyone? A few ponies were running now, other ponies were slowly backing away, windows were broken.
My mind was filled. Nothing bad was going on, maybe another Ursa Major was loose.... Twilight would fix that... She did last time. I remind myself as I happily slowly make my way through the empty town roads, holding my head high.
The eerie quiet made it worse, it was better to hear complaining ponies then this... This horror of the word quiet. But I took that back, as soon as I crossed a bridge to reach town square. There was screaming. That was worse.
I pick up my slow pace, and begin towards the town, screams grew by numbers, and they got louder, piercing my ears. I cringe. I looked around and see a door open, well smashed open so I run over there, my mane waved behind me as I nearly bolt into a house.
I skid to the front step, moving wood debris from the used-to-be door. A shiver runs through me and I quickly call out "Hello?" My voice cracking.
No call was returned and I panicked. Moving my way a bit further into the house, I heard a quiet muffled noise, of moving ponies maybe?
I scrunch up my face, and my heart beat lightens when I hear a small moan. The pony in this house was sleeping, nothing was wrong. A small grin fell on her face. How stupid of her, to think something bad had happened, never would what she thought, actually happen.
She wiped a bead of sweat from her forehead and walked out of the house.
A cyan pony zoomed passed her, so quick her whole face seemed to fly with her mane as the wind hit her. She grunted and looked at the pony. It was Rainbow herself, but where was she going? Did she not notice me?
The screaming was gone, she had nearly forgotten about it to, but now she remembered. She saw a pony in the distance. It tumbled and wobbled forward before falling, then stuttering and flailing before getting up, and repeating the whole thing, without falling.
Taking a deep breath, I slowly step towards the pony, feeling secure, because it was just Derpy. She was probably tired or maybe she hurt herself, by flying into something again. A small hope lit in my eyes as she stopped and looked up. A mumble came from he mouth.
I take another few steps so I am nearly in front of the pony with the yellow mane and asked "hey do you know why there was yelling? And why every pony is actin--" I was cut off by her odd look. Her eyes were white, and her pupils small and cloudy.
She stumbled in place and just moaned once more, this time stepping so close the only thing that separated them was about a small air pocket, the length of a mouse.
"Uh Derpy.." she stuttered as she looked at the pony, crossing her eyes to make eye contact with the pony who was right in front of her. She felt herself wanting to run.
Derpy jerked her head and violently opened her mouth wide, stretching the corner of her mouth, blood beginning to form in the cuts forming, and she waved her head towards me.
On instinct I use my wings to shoot myself away. "Derpy what the--" before I could finished she snapped at me again, but another dodge sent her to the ground in a mumbling pile.
I feel myself swallowing bile as I turn to run, more ponies, stumble from the side of broken houses, and small fires building in areas.
As much as I didn't want to believe it. It had to be true. Something was very wrong. The only thing that classified my crazy thoughts was watching a white pony, with a beautiful purple mane fall from her steps, and another pony after her, resembling what Derpy was doing, except this time, the monster caught its prey.
The pony collapsed ontop of the female unicorn, and began eating its flesh.
Turning I run, my mind boggled with thoughts of the unicorn behind me, being eaten alive, the screaming, the running, the fires, the burning houses. How couldn't I have saw that?
I try to concentrate on a few things, just a few. "My name is Blue Night, I am a Pegasus. I am an orphan." I say aloud as I run through the town, that was now full of quiet moans, and crackles of fire.
The only thing that I try to remember is myself, but the thoughts that keep coming back is Derpy, RainbowDash, she must have got away.... The white unicorn, who died... Shaking my head, I look at myself. \
My white hooves have been dirtied, turning the bottoms to a dark brown and my blue mane is falling in front of my face to much.
She finally broke from the town, hitting a hill. She slowed down and began to breath heavily before she made it to the top. she turned her head to look behind her and let out a soft sigh as the white pegasus muttered "goodbye..." She knew her normal life was gone, and yet, all she had ever wanted was to be normal.
She sat down and watched her home burn down, and crumble. She bowed her head and thought to herself I don't want to believe it, but it is true. The apocalypse has begun.
