"That was an excellent night Shining," Cadence said, looking up at her husband. "Anything for you, my love," Shining replied, smiling at his wife. Cadence was about to say something, but then she and Shining Armor heard something that shouldn't be there on a lovely night like this, the sound of a young filly, they could tell it was a filly by how the crying sounded, crying her eyes out. Walking over to where the crying was coming from, they decided to try and find the filly. But as soon as they were trotting into the ally, they could hear the crying stop immediately. "Hello? There's no reason to be scared of us, we won't here you," Cadence called, but no reply. "I think we should look around for whoever was crying. She must still be in this ally," Shining Armor suggested, to which Cadence nodded. And so they split up to try and find the filly who was crying. "I haven't found anyone, how about you?" Shining asked his princess wife. "No, I haven't found anything either," Cadence said with a sad shake of her head. Just then, she could hear some of the boxes moving, and turned to see one of them moving. "Now why would any pony leave a filly all alone in a box?" Cadence asked, trotting over to find the source, with Shining Armor following in close pursuit. As they got closer, they could see something in the box that wasn't a pony trying to keep hidden away, out of fear. This made Cadence and Shining Armors heart break. "Shh, don't be afraid little one, there's no reason to be scared," Cadence said, trying to keep the filly calm, which was only slightly effective, since the filly wouldn't show look at the royal couple, since she was still scared. "Would you please come out? You don't have to worry, we won't hurt you," Cadence asked, still in a motherly voice to try and keep the filly from being scared. But as the filly who was crying crawled out, the crystal couple were shocked to see a little human girl, no older than four, with black hair, and brown eyes, which were red from crying too much, and a green dress. When the little girl saw the couple, she squeaked, and crawled back into the box, trying to hide from the new faces. This made the couple look on in sadness at how scared she was. "Hey, its ok, we won't hurt you little one," Cadence said, trying to coax the timid girl to come out, who hesitantly complied. "That's right, there's no need to be afraid of us," she said, extending her forelegs out to her in the motion of a hug. Looking up, still with fear but less than when they found her, she slowly walked over to Cadence, who hugged her comfortingly. "That's it, no one will ever hurt you, I can promise you," Cadence said, trying to keep the girl from crying again. "Why don't we introduce our selves? My name is Princess MI Amore Cadenza, or Cadence as how I prefer to be called, and this is my husband, Shining Armor," Cadence said, introducing herself and her husband, "Can you tell us your name? There's no reason to be shy," Cadence said soothingly. Looking up at the pink alicorn, the little girl quietly spoke, "m-my n-name is M-Mavis Princess C-cadence," the little girl said hesitantly, with a bow. "Well, its lovely to meet you Mavis, but you don't have to call me princess, or bow to us," Cadence said softly, rubbing her back gently. "If I may ask, why are you all alone? Your parents must be worried sick," Cadence asked. At the mention of her parents, Mavis started crying harder than ever. Oh dear, she must be an orphan! Cadence thought to herself, she then rubbed Mavis' back more soothingly, "Shh, its ok, would you like to come with me and Shining Armor? We have plenty of guest rooms that might be more comfortable than the cold ground, and a darling little son named Nathan, who's a human just like you," Cadence asked, inviting the young child to stay with her. "A-are you sure I-it won't be any t-trouble? I-I mean, I can still stay here if you don't want me in your castle," Mavis said, not wanting to impose. "We insist you be our guest," Shining Armor said, smiling at the girl who needed a warm bed. "W-w-well, if you say I can, t-t-then I-I-I'll go," Mavis said, smiling a little at the couple. "Then lets go!" Cadence said, levitating the small child on her back. When Mavis felt the magic around her, she started shaking after Cadence set her on her back, "Shh, its ok, there's no need to be scared," Cadence said, trying to calm the small child down, after feeling the shaking on her back. With a nod, Mavis stop shaking, and the crystal couple made their way to the palace. Mavis hesitantly spoke up with a small, broken tone, "C-cadence, if I can ask, w-where am I?" she asked the alicorn princess, while trying not to anger the royal mare. "Well, you're in the Crystal Empire, which is in the farthest northern region of Equestria," Cadence explained. "S-so, I-I'm in another w-world?" Mavis asked, starting to get scared of being alone. "I'm afraid so, but don't worry, me and Shining Armor will make sure you're never alone, ever again," Cadence reassured the little girl, who only slightly calmed down. "And Nathan is also very friendly, so you won't have to worry about being lonely," Cadence added on. After some walking, the three made it back to the castle. Approaching the front door, Cadence unlocked the door, and the three went inside. Just as they entered, they saw a pair of guards walking towards them. When Mavis saw them, she quickly cocooned herself in Cadences mane, hiding from the stoic faces. "Princess Cadence and Captain Shining Armor, I take it your evening out went alright?" asked one of the guards. Just then, they noticed Mavis. "Princess, who is this little one?" the guard said, looking at the new child. "This is Mavis, and she is a guest until further notice," Shining Armor said with his expression turning serious, "Now then, I need you two to go and help prepare a guest bedroom, for her," Shining Armor instructed. "Yes sir!" the two guards said, before going to get the bedroom ready. "Alright Mavis, lets go and get you something warm to eat, before, we put you to bed," Cadence said, looking back to the young girl. "O-ok C-c-cadence, that s-sounds n-nice," Mavis said, hesitantly. And with that, Cadence took Mavis to the kitchen to make her something warm. "C-cadence, w-would it b-be ok if I j-just had some t-toast?" Mavis asked, hoping the pink alicorn wouldn't be mad at her for asking. "Ok, but how many slices would you like?" Cadence asked. "I-I think two w-would b-be n-nice," Mavis replied, feeling guilty for asking a princess for food. "Ok, and would you like any butter or cinnamon on your toast?" Cadence asked, which resulted in a head shake from Mavis. "Ok, then would you like something to drink as well? I think we have some milk," Cadence asked. "B-but you're a-already d-doing t-too much f-for m-me, I'll j-just stick with toast, u-unless y-you want m-me to have a d-drink, then I w-will have m-milk," Mavis said, taking the offer for milk as if she was being ordered to have something to drink. "Shh, I'm not forcing you to have anything you don't want, and its our honor to help you," Cadence said, reassuring the young girl. "O-ok, but I can s-still h-have m-milk?" Mavis asked nervously. "If you want milk, then I'll get you some," Cadence said, smiling at the little girl, who nodded solemnly. Once in the kitchen, Cadence saw her son Nathan, who was making a sandwich for dinner. "Oh Nathan, I have a special guest for you to meet," Cadence said to the young boy, who looked over to his mother. "And where is the new guest?" Nathan asked in his usual southern accent. "She's on my back," Cadence said, motioning to her back. "Nathan, this is Mavis, our newest guest," Cadence said, introducing the new girl, "Mavis, its ok, this is Nathan, the sweet boy I told you about. There's no reason for worry, he won't hurt you, right Nathan?" Cadence asked her human son with batwings, who nodded. Peeking from her hiding place in Cadences soft mane, Mavis looked at the young boy in front of her, "Hello n-Nathan, its nice to meet you," Mavis said, still a bit shaky with meeting new people or ponies. "Why howdy there, and its just like mommy said, ah would never dream of hurtin' ya, so no need to worry," Nathan said with a soothing voice, just like his mother. "Now, why don't you two get to know each other, while I make Mavis her toast?" Cadence asked, as she grabbed some bread, and put it in the toaster and let it start on the toast. After that, Cadence proceeded to getting Mavis her milk, and poured it into a cup she got down. Just as she put the milk away, the toast got done cooking. Putting the slices of toast on a plate, Cadence carefully levitated the milk and the toast over to Mavis, who was just playing with her hair. "Here you go sweetie, two slices of toast, and a glass of milk, just as you requested," Cadence said with a smile. "O-ok, thank y-you Cadence," Mavis said, still feeling guilty for having a princess serve food to her. Taking a few bites and sips of the toast and milk, Mavis finished all the toast and milk. "My, you were hungry, weren't you?" Cadence asked with a giggle. "Ok, lets go and put you up for bed," Cadence said, levitating the plate and cup over to the sink so they can be taken care of later, and then levitating Mavis onto her back, Cadence proceeded to take her to the guest room, where she would be staying for now. Once Cadence tucked Mavis in, she then gave the small child a gentle kiss on the head. "Good night sweetheart," Cadence said, before walking to go tuck Nathan into bed. "Mommy, what are we gonna do about Mavis?" Nathan asked, feeling concerned for the young girl. "I'll talk it over with your father, and we'll go from there, ok?" Cadence asked, which Nathan nodded in response. "Good, now sweet dreams Nathan," Cadence said, giving her bat winged son a kiss for the night, before trotting to hers and Shining Armors room. "What should we do about Mavis?" Shining asked his wife. "I think we should introduce her to Aunt Celestia and Twilight and see where we go from there. Mavis needs to know that there are ponies out there who wouldn't want her to be sad," Cadence replied, "Once we introduce Mavis, we should probably ask Aunt Luna to see why Mavis is so scared," Cadence added on, which Shining Armor nodded in understanding. "Well, good night," Cadence said, turning off her lamp. "Good night," Shining said, turning off his lamp and falling asleep. Chapter 2: The Families of Canterlot and Ponyville (Rewritten)Chapter 2: The families of Canterlot, and Ponyville It was another beautiful day in the high class city of Canterlot, and within the castle walls, the royal family was having breakfast, while conversing with one another. "So, what are doing today Mom?" Chris asked his mother, who was the sun Princess. As Celestia was about to answer her son, when a scroll appeared before her in a puff of smoke. Celestia recognized the royal seal of Cadence, "Huh, what could Cadence be writing to us about on a wonderful day like this?" Celestia asked no one in particular as she opened the scroll, and it read, Dear Aunt Celestia, I wish for you and aunt Luna to come to the Crystal Empire at once. There is a young girl, younger than any of human children we've encountered, save for Heaven, here in the Crystal Empire, named Mavis, who is in dire need of happiness and love. But she's also extremely timid and easy to scare, so I feel we may need to try and find why she acts this way, With Love, Princess Cadence. Reading over the letter once again to make sure she didn't miss anything, Celestia looked up to see her family all looking at her with perplexed looks on their faces, "Luna, Chris, Drake, and Timmy, pack your bags, we're heading to the Crystal Empire to meet a new human girl in need of love and comfort," Celestia instructed her family, who didn't question her orders, and went to their rooms to start packing, 'I sure hope this new girl will feel welcomed by all the warmness of my family and Twilights friends,' Celestia thought to herself, as she left to go and pack her own bags. Meanwhile, in Ponyville, As morning rose in the tranquil town of Ponyville, the princess of friendship began to stir in her bed. Sitting up, and giving a soft yawn, she looked out the window, "Wow, its going to be another beautiful day," Twilight said to no one in particular, "I better go down and get breakfast started," Twilight said, getting out of her bed, and making her way to the dining room. On her way, she also decided to make sure all her children were up and fully awake. Her first stop was Kelly's room, "Kelly, are you up?" Twilight asked, knocking on her daughters door. "*Yawn* Yeah, I'm up!" Twilight heard her daughter call to her. "Ok, I'll be in the kitchen making breakfast for everyone!" Twilight called back, walking towards the kitchen, before stopping by everyone's rooms and waking them up. After she got to the kitchen, she began making pancakes for everyone. After making the last batch, she placed the pancakes on a cart, and wheeled them out to the dining room, where she smiled, seeing all of her children seated at the table, "Good Morning my sweet angels!" Twilight said to her children. "GOOD MORNING MOMMY!" they all rang. "What're we doing today Mommy?" Josh asked. Twilight was about to answer, when Spike came running in, totally out of breath, "*PANT* Message from *wheeze* Cadence!" Spike said, giving Twilight a scroll. Reading it over, Twilight frowned sadly at the fact that the girl that Cadence and Shining Armor found was all alone, and extremely timid, and in need of love and friendship, "What does the letter say Mommy?" Trinity asked her mother curiously. "Well, it says that Cadence and Shining Armor found another human girl, but this ones a bit timid around even her and Shining Armor, so to answer your question Joshua, we're going with our friends to the Crystal Empire," Twilight replied, giving her children all a warm yet sad smile. Her kids all nodded in understanding, and proceeded to finishing their pancakes so then after they can go and find their friends. Later at the train station, "So all we have to do is make this new Mavis girl feel welcome and loved?" Rarity asked her lavender friend. "Yes, but we should carefully introduce ourselves. The letter said that Mavis was extremely timid, and easy to frighten," Twilight replied with a sad shake of her head, which the others all nodded in understanding. "I hope Mavis won't be too scared," Toby said sadly, hugging his mommas leg. "We hope so too Toby, but we'll just have to wait and see," Twilight reassured her nephew. Just then, the train pulled into the station. "ALL ABOARD THATS GOING ABOARD! NEXT STOP, THE CRYSTAL EMPIRE!" the conductor called. "Well, that's us, c'mon everyone," Twilight said, leading her friends and family on the train, just as it was ready to pull out. Meanwhile, in the Crystal Empire, Cadence was beginning to stir in her sleep, and sitting up, she stretched her forelegs, and gave a soft yawn, "Looks like todays going to be a beautiful day," Cadence said to herself, just then remembering what transpired last night, "I'd better see if Mavis is up," she said, making her way to Mavis' room, before stopping by Nathans room, "Nathan, are you up?" Cadence asked her bat winged son, knocking on the door. "*Yawn* Yeah, Ah'm up," Nathan said in a sleepy voice as he came out of his bedroom in his pj's. "Good morning sweetie, why don't you go get breakfast while I see to Mavis?" Cadence asked her son. "Ok mommy, Ah'll see ya and Mavis in the dining room," Nathan said, making his way to the dining room, while Cadence went to check on the little girl. Once she was outside Mavis' room, Cadence could hear a faint weeping sound that she knew was Mavis' crying, "Mavis, are you ok?" Cadence asked, knocking on the door, and carefully opening the door, to reveal Mavis sitting on the bed with her head in her arms, crying her eyes out. Cadences heart shattered when she saw Mavis in such a poor state, "Mavis?" Cadence asked, gently reaching out to the girl. Looking u, Mavis saw the pink alicorn that rescued her from the ally, with a very worried look on her face, "O-oh, P-princess C-cadence, I'm s-sorry if m-my crying w-woke you," Mavis said, fearing for the worst. Cadence was saddened even more when she said that, "Shh, don't worry, I'm not mad, but can you tell me why you were crying?" Cadence asked the young girl. "I-I had a n-nightmare, b-but you d-don't h-have to c-comfort m-me, only g-good g-girls and b-boys can h-have l-love and c-comfort," Mavis said guiltily. Cadences heart shattered even more at what Mavis had just said, "Shh, you are a good girl, I know you are in your heart," Cadence said in a calming tone. Mavis shook her head furiously, "N-no P-princess, I-I'm anything b-but g-good," Mavis said, before covering up her mouth, realizing she disagreed with royalty, 'Oh no! Princess Cadence is going to be furious at me for disagreeing with her,' Mavis fearfully thought to herself, but instead of getting hit like she expected, Mavis was engulfed in a warm and loving hug. "Shh, there's no reason to be scared," Cadence reassured her, "And I don't want you ever talking about yourself like that, you're a wonderfully, sweet angel, and I don't want you to forget that," Cadence told her in a serious, yet sweet, motherly tone. "O-ok," Mavis said, admitting defeat at her caregivers kind words. "Good, now would you like some breakfast before you meet the rest of my family and friends?" Cadence offered. "I-I w-would like that, but I d-didn't do anything b-bad, d-did I?" Mavis asked, worried that she may be all sorts of trouble if the rest of Cadences family was coming. "Shh, you didn't do anything bad, they're just coming here to meet you, and try to get to know you better," Cadence reassured the girl, rubbing her back gently, "Now then, how's about that breakfast?" Cadence asked. "O-ok, that s-sounds n-nice," Mavis said, smiling for the first time ever since Cadence and Shining Armor found her. With a smile, Cadence set Mavis on her back, and made her way to the dining room, "Uh, P-princess, I can w-walk m-myself, you don't h-have to c-carry me," Mavis said, feeling guilty for having a princess give her a piggy back ride. "Don't you worry, I don't mind it at all," Cadence reassured the young girl, who nodded guiltily. After a bit of walking, the two finally made it to the dining room, "Ok pumpkin, what would you like for breakfast?" Cadence asked the young girl. "I w-would like some m-more t-toast please, I-I'm not a h-heavy e-eater," Mavis replied, still feeling bad for asking royalty for food. "As you wish, but would you like something to go with it?" Cadence asked the young girl. "M-maybe s-some c-cinnamon?" Mavis suggested. "Not what I had in mind, but ok," Cadence said, giving a nod to the chef, who nodded in return, and proceeded to the kitchen to begin work on breakfast, as Cadence and Mavis took their seats, with Nathan already sitting at the table, enjoying a bowl of oatmeal. "Morning Mavis," Nathan cheerfully greeted the young girl, trying to lift her spirits. "O-oh, g-good m-morning Nathan," Mavis timidly said to the boy with bat wings, just as hers and Cadences breakfasts were brought to them, "W-wow, that was quick," Mavis quietly said to herself as she began to nibble on her first slice of toast, while Cadence ate away at her meal. After a few bites on each slice, Mavis finished her toast. "My, you were hungry, weren't you?" Cadence asked the girl with a giggle, but Mavis didn't giggle, she just looked away shamefully for not taking her time, Cadence saw the motion, and frowned at her shyness, "Oh no, I didn't mean to make you feel ashamed!" Cadence said, trying to lift Mavis' spirits. Just then, she saw her aunts carriages flying towards the castle, "Ok Nathan, you go get dressed, while I go and help Mavis get cleaned up," Cadence told her son, who nodded, and went back to bathroom to get ready for the visit, "Now then, as for you, lets go and get you cleaned up," Cadence said, taking Mavis to another bathroom, "First, lets get your teeth brushed," Cadence said, pulling out a spare toothbrush and some toothpaste, and giving it to the young girl. "P-princess, can I t-try to get cleaned up myself?" Mavis timidly asked the pink alicorn. "Of coarse, but if you need help with anything, just let me know," Cadence told her, which Mavis nodded in understanding, and proceeded to brushing her teeth. After a two minutes of brushing, she spat out the toothpaste, and tried to washing her face, but couldn't reach the faucet handles, "Here, let me help you," Cadence said, turning the faucet handles to make the perfect temperature, not too hot nor cold. "T-thank you P-princess," Mavis said, scooping some water up, and splashing it against her face. After some splashes, she tried to reach for a towel, not opening her eyes, so no water got in her eyes, prompting Cadence to give her a towel, "T-thank you a-again P-princess," Mavis said, using the towel to dry off her face. "Ok, now lets go meet my friends and family," Cadence said, helping Mavis onto her back, and trotting outside. Once outside, she saw her aunts and her sister in law. "HI EVERYONE!" Cadence greeted her family and friends, while doing the nursery rhyme she and Twilight always did when they were little. "Sunshine, Sunshine, ladybugs awake, clap your hooves and do a little shake!" the two alicorn sisters in law giggled and hugged each other. "Oh, its good to see all of you again," Cadence said, smiling at her family. "Its wonderful to see you again as well Cadence," Celestia said, looking around for Nathan and the new girl, "Where're Nathan and this Mavis girl you told me about?" Celestia asked the pink alicorn. "Here ah am!" they all heard Nathan call as he came out the door, "Sorry Ah'm late, ah had some trouble finding another sock," Nathan said, looking at his friend and family. "And as for Mavis, she's here on my back," Cadence said, looking towards her back, where the young girl sat. "Aww, she's so precious," Celestia cooed, with the others nodding warmly in agreement. Looking up, Mavis saw a bunch of new faces looking at her. She squeaked, and hid in Cadences mane. The family frowned at how timid she was, "Calm yourself little one, none of them will hurt you," Cadence reassured the timid girl, who slowly, but surely poked her head out from Cadences mane, and slowly opened her eyes to see the family of ponies and humans before her. "H-hello everyone," Mavis quietly said. "Why howdy there Mavis, Ah'm Applejack, and these are my sons and daughter, Mike, Bolt, and Season Harvest," Applejack said in a soft tone as not to frighten Mavis. "I'm Pinkie Pie, its very nice to meet you, and these are all my daughters and niece, Melody, Clover, Lucky Joy, and Blueberry Muffin," Pinkie Pie said in a calm tone, which shocked everyone, but could understand why she was calm. "My name is Fluttershy, and these two are my son and daughter, Toby and Serenity," Fluttershy said with a smile. "My, you are a sweet angel! Anyway, my name is Rarity, one the top fashion designers in Equestria, and these are my children, Conner and Crystal Charity," Rarity said, giving Mavis a warm smile. "Hey kid, I'm Rainbow Dash, the fastest Pegasus in Equestria, and these two are my son and daughter, Echo and Vibrant Sky," Rainbow Dash said, giving another warm smile at the young girl. "Its so nice to meet such a sweet little girl like yourself, my name is Twilight Sparkle, I'm Cadences sister in law, and these are all my sons and daughters, Josh, Cory, Kelly, Crystal, Trinity Star, and Nyx," Twilight said, introducing herself and her children. The next to trot up was Celestia and Luna, "It is so wonderful to meet you young Mavis, I am Princess Celestia, and this is my little sister Luna, and this my son Chris, and Luna's sons, Timmy and Drake," Celestia said in a motherly tone. She then noticed a saddened look in Mavis' eyes, "Young one, is there something troubling you?" Celestia asked the young girl. "Its ok sweetheart, we only want to make you feel comfortable," Cadence said, reassuring the little girl. "I-I d-don't really w-want to t-talk a-b-bout it, its not a h-happy story," Mavis said, feeling ashamed for not for not being able to answer Celestia's question. "Very well, we won't force you to tell," Celestia said in a reassuring tone, which did nothing to lift the spirits of Mavis, who simply went back to sleep, feeling tired from the nightmare she had. "Cadence, was this how Mavis was when you and Shining Armor found her?" Celestia asked her niece. "She was abandoned in an ally, all alone, and when me and Shining Armor went to find her, she stopped her crying, as if so sort of trauma forces her to stop when someone approaches," Cadence explained. This made everyone gasp in horror. "I think it would be best if we threw a celebration for young Mavis, so she knows that everyone in Equestria is really nice," Celestia suggested. "That may not be such a good idea Princess, I've seen the types of ponies with similar timid natures like Mavis, and I know that a party will only worsen her fear, instead of making her feel welcome, so before we do that, we should let her get used to her surroundings," Pinkie Pie told the solar princess, who nodded in understanding, but the others were all shocked when Pinkie shot down the idea for a party, but with her explanation, it made more sense. "Sister, should I try to find out why Mavis is so timid the way she is?" Luna asked the sun princess. "I believe that would be a good idea, then from the memories, we can try to help her over come her sorrows, one step at a time," Celestia replied, which Luna nodded in understanding. "I'll go and put Mavis to bed, she didn't have a good night. But you can all enjoy yourselves while you're here," Cadence said, which everyone nodded in understanding as she went to put the young girl to bed. Chapter 3: Therapy with RaidenChapter 3: Mavis' traumatic past Following Cadence to where she was letting Mavis sleep, Luna was wondering why Mavis was so scared the way she was, 'I hope her story isn't anything too awful,' Luna solemnly thought to herself. After a while, she and Cadence made it to Mavis' bedroom, where Cadence tenderly put her in bed, "Sweet dreams little one," Cadence said, giving Mavis a kiss on her head, "She's all yours," Cadence said, giving Luna the right of way. Luna nodded, and as soon as Cadence left the room, Luna began using a spell that sent her into Mavis' memories. Age 3 Opening her eyes, Luna saw that she was in a small apartment home with many strange things, such as a TV, a video game console, a bookshelf, and many other things. "This appears to be Mavis' home, but why would she leave something like this?" Luna asked herself before hearing a faint crying sound coming from a nearby hallway. Following the crying sound, she soon found herself in what she thought was a bathroom, where she saw a battered up Mavis and two fully grown ponies, who were trying to clean her up. "Mavis sweetie, we know it hurts, but try hold on a little longer for us, ok?" asked the stallion that Luna assumed was Mavis' father. "O-ok d-daddy," said a pain filled Mavis, as the stallion and mare used some cotton balls with disinfectant on the wounds she had. As soon as the cotton balls touched the wound, Mavis tried everything to suppress her screams of agony. "Mavis, its not good to try and keep your screams in like that," the mare said, dabbing another cotton ball on another open wound, which made Mavis cry in pain. Luna was horrified at how much pain Mavis must've been in, but she knew that the disinfectant was to help keep her from getting sick. After a few moments of agony, the stallion and mare put some bandages on the wounds, "There, see, we told you it would be over before you knew it, and now it is," the mare said soothingly. "Y-yes m-mommy," Mavis timidly said. "Now would you like to tell us why you were covered in so many cuts?" Mavis' father asked the young girl. "I-I d-don't w-want to t-talk a-about it," Mavis said, looking down in fear. "Shh, its ok, you can tell us," the mare said in soft voice. Bulking up some courage, Mavis then began to speak, "I-it was some b-bullies f-from d-down the s-street. T-they b-beat m-me up for b-being s-smaller t-than them, and t-they always s-steal the t-toys and c-candy that you a-always give me. T-they say that t-toys and c-candy are o-only for b-big k-kids," Mavis sadly said, wrapping her arms around her mothers neck, crying her eyes out. "Shh, its ok, we'll make sure those meanies never pick on you ever again," her mother said, looking at the father. "Right, because I'm going to file a restraining order on those punks, and I'm going to have a very long talk with their parents," the father said, picking up a telephone. "N-no daddy! T-they said t-that t-they'll g-get e-even with m-me if I squeal!" Mavis cried fearfully. "Don't worry sweetie, because as soon as I file the restraining order, I am going to the next town to find us a new home," the father reassured her. "I-I h-hope you're right," Mavis said hesitantly. "It'll be alright, we are going to make sure you never have to deal with those bullies ever again," the mother reassured her. Luna allowed a few lone tears to fall from her cheeks, "So this might be one of the reasons for Mavis to be so timid, but there must be something else, something that might have worsened her fears," Luna said before teleporting to another memory. Age 3 3/4 After teleporting away from the memory that shows one reason for Mavis' timid nature, Luna found herself in another house, but not an apartment, "Another home, just like her father said," Luna said, before turning to see the door opening to reveal Mavis and her parents walking in, obviously from a tour of the new city. "Ok, so now we know now that there are more choices for shopping here than in our old town, so now we have a bigger selection," the father said with a smile. "Oh I know, and best of all, there's a sweets shop where I can work at to better help our family," the mother cheerfully said. "So, what should we do now?" the father asked. "C-can I go to s-sleep?" Mavis asked, hoping not to annoy her parents. "At three in the afternoon? You won't be able to sleep later on," the mother said. "W-well, I d-don't know w-what I w-want to d-do, so s-sleep is the b-best choice for me," Mavis said timidly. "Well, we got all your toys back from those bullies, so why not play with those?" the father suggested. "B-but I d-don't know h-how to p-play with t-toys," Mavis said nervously. The parents and Luna's jaws dropped at that fact. "Well, I guess we should teach you how to play with your toys, now won't we?" the father asked. "W-well, I g-guess that w-would be t-true, but w-what about y-your jobs?" Mavis asked, hoping to avoid breaking something with toys. "I don't start till Monday," the father said. "And I need to fill out an application at that sweets shop, but I can do that any time," the mother said, "Now then, lets go and have a look some toys we can play with that are nice and easy," the mother said, going into Mavis' room with the father to find some toys to teach Mavis to play with. "So Mavis has never known what it means to play with toys? I better leave that to Pinkie Pie and the others to teach her how to play, but for now, I must try to find what causes Mavis' fears," Luna said to herself, going to the memory she had been searching for. Age 4: four months after the move, and a week after Mavis' birthday After teleporting from the last memory, Luna found herself outside the house that Mavis' family was living in, but she could see fire coming from the windows. Looking around, she could see some large red machines spewing water from some hoses. "Was everyone in that house evacuated?" she heard one of the stallions in blue which she thought was police ask his fellow policemen. "Only this young girl, but her parents were buried under debris," another policeman replied, comforting Mavis, who was petrified in fear, not responding to any of the loud noises. "Hey kid, you'll be alright," the commissioner reassured the fear frozen girl, who couldn't hear him, and just curled up even tighter when she heard the house collapsing, "Whoa, no way anyone could've survived that, we better find someone who can take care of the girl," the commissioner said, looking around for volunteers to take care of her, when a pre-teenager came up. "Well commissioner, I would be willing to take her under my roof," the pre-teen offered. "Are you old enough?" the commissioner asked. "I'm not, but my parents are welcoming folk, who would love to have her under our roof," the teen said, fake smiling. "All righty then, we'll just leave you to take care of her then," the commissioner said, as he and the other officers packed up and left. Once the last of the bystanders left, the teen then roughly took Mavis' arm, "Look here you little good for nothing brat, I told you that I would get even with you, and now I have," the teen said, tossing Mavis into a puddle. "P-p-please, stop," Mavis begged, which was only met with a hard punch in her gut. "SHUT UP! Nobody will ever want to take care of you or love you, because you're nothing but a big baby!" the teen said, glaring daggers at poor Mavis, "And I swear, I will do far worse than what I did to your pathetic house and those mediocre excuses for parents you had if you ever rat me out again!" the teen said, giving Mavis one last punch in the gut. Luna watched in unexplainable horror at how cruel that teen was to Mavis. She was about to leave when she saw another stallion coming towards Mavis in mismatched clothes, "Oh don't worry dear Mavis, I will make sure you will be cared for," Luna was shocked when Discords voice came from that man. With a snap of his fingers, Discord teleported Mavis away, "Now, before I head back to Equestria, I'd better make that teens true colors known," Discord said, chasing after the cruel teen. "So Discord was behind Mavis getting here," Luna said to herself, eyes still stinging with tears of pity for poor Mavis, as she teleported out of Mavis' memories. "I had better tell the others of the sweet angels tragic story," Luna said, going to meet with the others. Chapter 4: Mavis' Traumatic Past (Rewritten)Chapter 4: Plans for Mavis After walking out of Mavis' room with teary eyes, Luna made her way to where her friends and family were at, 'Oh, i do hope the others know what to do,' she thought to herself as she entered the throne room. Looking up, she could see everyone with looks of concern on their faces. "Luna, were you able to find the cause of Mavis' woe?" Celestia asked. "Yes, and they are horrible," Luna said, walking to embrace her sister for comfort. "Shh, its ok. Now tell us what you saw," Celestia asked of the lunar princess. Holding back her tears, Luna then explained what she saw, from how Mavis' parents were loving towards the young girl, how they would play with Mavis when she was lonely, but she had to let a few tears and sobs escape before telling the most heartbreaking part. Everyone in the room was horrified at how cruel fate had to be to poor little Mavis. "The poor little baby," Cadence said, crying at how badly Mavis had to be treated by kids older than her. "Its just like Mikes story," Twilight said, trying to suppress her tears. "Only worse," Mike corrected, also feeling bad for the young girl. "Well, at least Discords doing something about that little punk," Chris said with a sneer. "But that only leaves a question on what we should do for Mavis?" Nathan asked, which everyone pondered. "Well, why don't we show her around Ponyville? It could help her get used to her new surroundings?" Toby suggested. "Its worth a shot, I mean, what other place is more friendlier than Ponyville?" Pinkie Pie asked, which everyone all nodded in agreement. "Then its settled, when Mavis wakes up from her nap, we'll take her to Ponyville," Twilight finalized, which everyone nodded in agreement. "So then, in the mean time, you all should enjoy your stay in the Crystal Empire while you're all here," Cadence said with a smile. Everyone nodded, and went to tour the Empire. Meanwhile, in an abandoned warehouse, "Aw man Kyle, you really gave that bratty little wimp the what for?" one boy asked. "Yep, and that'll teach her not to rat us out," another boy, obviously Kyle, said with pride. "Yeah, but it won't protect you from others who're willing to rat you out!" a voice called, which made the boys jump. "Whose there?! Come out and take your beating like a man!" Kyle demanded. "Oh, I don't fight physically, and my siblings wont be too nice either," the voice said again. "Get ready to fight Mark, this guy sounds cocky," Kyle said. "Right behind you Kyle," Mark said. "Oh, someone's feisty," a feminine voice commented. "Yeah, but that attitude can get them cooked real badly," another, yet more aggressive tone said. "True that Brian," another wise sounding voice said. "Yeah, and it would be a shame if some photos of these punks setting fire to that house were somehow given to the police. Oh wait, they were," the first voice said, as the warehouse doors opened, to reveal an army of police surrounding the warehouse. "FREEZE! NO ONE IN THAT WAREHOUSE MOVE! YOU ARE UNDER ARREST FOR MURDER AND CHILD ABUSE! AND MAKE NO ATTEMPTS TO ESCAPE, YOU'RE COMPLETELY SURROUNDED!" a policeman with a megaphone yelled. "Uh oh, what do we do Kyle?!" Mark asked hysterically. "How should I know?!" Kyle retorted. "Oh, what options are there to choose from? They could always give themselves up?" another stealthy voice said. "Yeah right! We don't have to, seeing as how we're not moving!" Kyle snapped. "Oh hum, that puts a dent in our plans to uphold justice, but no matter, if they won't move, then we'll make them, another voice said, as a moving sidewalk formed under the feet of the two teenagers, and they were forcibly moved towards the police. "Run Mark!" Kyle yelled, as he and the other boy tried to run away. "Well that's no fun," the feminine voice said. "That, I can fix," another voce said, just as the surface of the moving sidewalk turned to slippery ice, and the as soon as the two punks fell, they were taken towards the police, and to their horror, their parents. "Kyle, what were you thinking when you hurt that sweet little girl?!" Kyle's mother demanded. "I don't know or care, that little runt deserved to be put in her place," Kyle replied, only to be met with a hard smack that echoed, "OWW! What was that for?!" Kyle snapped. "Don't act surprised!" Kyle's mother snapped, glaring daggers at her son. "And as for you Mark, you're not getting off the hook either!" Marks father snarled. "Who told you?! Was it that brat?!" Kyle demanded, only to be smacked again. "No, in fact, that sweet little girl had nothing to do with any of this!" Kyle's mother snapped. "It was my doing," a man with mismatched clothing came out and explained, "No crime goes without consequences," he said with a sneer. "We are most disappointed with both of you. Officer, take our former sons to jail," the mother said, as she walked away, not caring about her son anymore. "C'mon boys, you two already have your sentence," the chief said, putting handcuffs on the boys, and leading them into a police car, "Thank you for the assistance," the chief said to the human Discord, before taking the boys away. "Ok kids, you can all come out now!" Discord called to his children, who all came out of their hiding places. "Well, that takes care of those punks, but what of Mavis?" Silver asked. "Don't worry, I made sure she would meet the right couple," Discord replied with a smile. "Well then, I think we can continue our vacation for awhile," Eris said with a smile. "I think you're right, but where to go next?" Discord asked. "How about a mall?" Stealth suggested, which everyone nodded, and made their way to a mall. Back in the Crystal Palace, Stirring in her sleep, Mavis blinked her eyes open, having the first good sleep she has had in a while, "*Yawn* O-oh my, I-I must have s-slept in! Oh, P-princess C-cadence is going to be m-mad for not w-waking up on t-time!" Mavis cried in fear before realizing something, "Oh w-wait, I already w-woke up e-earlier," she said, feeling silly for forgetting that. Just then she heard the door opening from behind her, and turned to see Cadence standing there with a sad smile on her face, "O-oh, P-princess C-cadence, I didn't mean to fall asleep a-again," Mavis said, feeling guilty for falling asleep when it wasn't bedtime. Cadence then scooped the little girl up in a warm hug, "Shh, don't worry sweetheart, you were just tired, that's all," Cadence reassured the little girl, "Mavis, my sister in law and friends want to do something special for you," Cadence said. "B-but why? I d-didn't do a-anything, I p-promise!" Mavis cried. "Shh, you didn't do anything, its something they want to do for you," Cadence reassured the little girl. "O-ok, it isn't a h-haunted h-house ride, is it? I don't like s-scary r-rides," Mavis asked. "No, its actually a tour of where Twilight and her friends all live, Ponyville, and don't worry, everyone in Ponyville is really nice, and they wouldn't even think of hurting a sweet little girl like yourself," Cadence replied. "T-that sounds n-nice, I t-think I'll e-enjoy it," Mavis said with a small smile. "GREAT! Then lets go and find them, if they're not busy," Cadence said, leading Mavis out the door. "A-and if they are b-busy, then we should j-just leave them b-be," Mavis said, praying that Cadence won't be too mad at her suggestion. "Very well, but if they aren't, then they can take you to tour Ponyville," Cadence said, smiling down on the little girl, as they went to find the mane six. Chapter 5: Heading to Ponyville (rewritten)Chapter 5: Heading to Ponville After leaving the Crystal Palace to see the sights of the Crystal Empire, the elements of Harmony were all trying to find ways of waiting for Mavis, so they can take her to see Ponyville. Applejack, Pinkie, and Rainbow Dash all decided to try to find something to eat, along with their children, Rarity took Twilight and their daughters to the spa, while their sons hung out with Fluttershy and her children, as they went to the petting zoo. "Wow, even the animals here are crystal coated?" Toby asked. "Yes sweetie. The magic of the Crystal Empire affects all living things, making them appear to be made of crystal themselves," Fluttershy replied, as they moved on to some goats, who bleated as they ate some hay some of the foals were feeding them. As he turned to see what animals he wanted to go see next, Toby saw Cadence walking towards him and Fluttershy. "Momma, its Cadence," Toby said, pointing towards the pink alicorn and the timid little girl. Turning towards where Toby was motioning, she walked over to Cadence, "Cadence, is everything ok?" Fluttershy asked. "Yes Fluttershy. Mavis just woke up from her nap, so as soon as we get everyone together, Mavis can go with you all while I discuss something over with Aunt Celestia," Cadence replied. "Ok, well, we can try to find the others, if they're not to busy," Fluttershy suggested. 'I hope they are,' Mavis thought to herself, as she frowned very hard. "Mavis, would like to look at the animals here at the zoo?" Cadence asked, which the little girl fearfully nodded, "Now I'm not going to force you, I'm asking you if you want to see the animals. So, do you want to see the animals?" Cadence calmly asked Mavis, who then calmly nodded, "Alright. Fluttershy, I'll send some of the guards to find the others, so in the meantime, lets enjoy ourselves," Cadence suggested, as she and Fluttershy took the children around the zoo. Meanwhile, at the Crystal Empire Spa, Twilight and Rarity were relaxing to a mud bath, while their daughters were getting themselves pampered by the spa patrons, "Now wasn't this a wonderful idea Twilight darling?" Rarity asked. "Yeah, but I still can't get over what happened to Mavis," Twilight replied. "I understand what you mean darling, but she's in good hooves now. And who knows? If we visit Will's ranch, Will might have a Pokemon to give her, so she won't be lonely," Rarity reasoned. "You're right Rarity, but that'll depend if Mavis is willing to accept one," Twilight replied. "Well, while I was reviewing one of the baby Pokemon, I discovered that it shares happiness with the kindhearted," Rarity explained. "Ooh! That sounds like the perfect Pokemon for Mavis!" Twilight squealed. "And it looks as cute as it sounds!" Rarity blushed. Just then, one of the salon patrons came over to the two mares. "Excuse my intrusion Princess Twilight, but one of the crystal guards just came in, requesting that you and your entourage come to the Crystal Palace," the mare said. "Alright, tell him we'll be right there," Twilight instructed. With a bow, the mare retreated to the front of the spa, leaving the two mares alone, "Alright, lets round up the girls and head to the palace," Twilight said. "Quite right," Rarity said, as she and Twilight got out of the bathtub, and got the mud off. Once that was done, they rounded up their daughters, and took off for the palace, unbeknownst to the presence of a sinister black shadow. 'Ooh, I can feel the fear in that little brat! I'll use that to my advantage, and conquer Equestria, once and for all!' the shadow said, as it left to go and plot. Back at the palace, after rounding up the others, the mane six stood outside the Crystal Palace, where Cadence and the other royals were, "Ok, I wish I could spend a little more time with you all, but its time Mavis should go with you all back to Ponyville. I wish you all the best of luck in helping her," Cadence said. "Don't worry Cadence, we'll bring her back before it gets too late," Twilight said, before turning her attention to the young girl in question, "Mavis, are you ready to go?" the lavender alicorn asked. Mavis only reply was an almost inaudible yes, "Ok, then lets get moving," Twilight said, as she knelt down to let Mavis onto her back. Once she was carefully seated onto Twilight's back, the group departed for the train station. Once they were out of hearing range, Celestia turned towards Cadence, "Alright Cadence, what is it that you wished to speak to me about?" the alabaster alicorn asked. "Well, after hearing about Mavis' tragic past, I think I should adopt her as my daughter, so she won't feel neglected," Cadence replied. "That's a very noble gesture Cadence, and I'm sure Mavis will be delighted to have loving parents again," Celestia said, smiling at her niece. "I just hope she'll be willing to go through with it," Shining Armor said uneasily. "Don't worry Shining, I'm sure she'd love us to be her parents," Cadence reassured. 'Hmm, I could use that love you'll give that brat to my advantage,' the shadow snarled, as it left for now. Making their way to the train station, Mavis was still frowning, but tried to keep it hidden, 'Ooh, I hope I don't get into any trouble for this,' Mavis thought to herself, as they reached the train station. "Hold on everyone, I need to get a ticket for Mavis," Twilight said, as she let Mavis off her back, and walked over to the ticket booth, and bought a round trip ticket for Mavis. 'I hope I can pay Twilight back for that ticket,' Mavis guiltily thought to herself. "Ok, ready to go Mavis?" Twilight asked the young girl, who solemnly nodded. "ALL ABOARD! Next stop, Ponyville!" the conductor called. "Well, that's us," Twilight said, letting Mavis climb onto her back, and boarding the train. As soon as the last passenger boarded, the train began to make its way to Ponyville. Chapter 6: A tour around Ponyville (Part one)Chapter 6: Mavis' Ophidiophobia After a few moments of travelling, Mavis then dozed off again. When she opened her eyes, she found herself in the middle of a field of flowers, "W-wait, I thought I w-was on a train?" Mavis said to herself. Looking around, she could faintly see two adults. And much to her surprise, she recognized them as her parents, "M-mommy? D-daddy?!" Mavis asked hysterically. The two looked over towards the little girl, and smiled warmly, "Yes baby, its us," the woman said. Mavis felt happiness and security for the first time in a while, and quickly ran towards them. But as she continued to run, her parents kept getting farther and farther away. After a while, her overjoyed expression so turned to fear, as her parents were engulfed in a fire, screaming in pure agony. "No, Mommy! Daddy!" Mavis cried, as she reached out to them. But as she got close to the fire, she could see the bullies that had burned her house down and killed her parents, glaring evilly down at her. "Well, well, well, what do we have here? A little bratty baby wanting her mommy and daddy?" Mark taunted cruelly, as he and Kyle circled around her. "Aw, what's the matter, you want some milky?" Kyle taunted, pouring a bottle of ice cold milk all over Mavis. "P-please, leave me a-alone!" Mavis pleaded. "WHAT?! You think you deserve to ask for anything?! You got us in trouble, and its all your fault your pathetic mommy and daddy got killed!" Mark spat. "B-b-but I," Mavis was cut off with a hard punch to her face. "SHUT UP! Man we're sick of hearing your voice! Of course, for little rodents like you, I think our pet snake would love to have you for dinner," Mark said, opening a box, which released a mammoth sized snake. Mavis tried to run, but tripped over a rock. Looking back, she became paralyzed in fear as the giant snake loomed over her. Without warning, the snake lunged at poor Mavis, who thankfully woke up from the traumatic nightmare just before the snake could devour her. Waking up from her nightmare, Mavis looked up to see Twilight and friends looking down at her in worry, "Mavis, are you alright? You looked like you were having a nightmare," Twilight asked worriedly. "Uh, well I, uh," Mavis was too nervous to say. "Its alright Mavis, you can tell us, we're your friends," Fluttershy cooed. Taking a deep breath, Mavis then retold what she saw in her nightmare, how she saw her parents, the bullies, and explained her immense fear of snakes, "Oh dear," Fluttershy said. "You needn't worry about those awful bullies anymore. You're among those who'll protect you from villains like them," Rarity reassured. "And we'll make sure you don't have to face any snakes while you're here," Twilight said. "Th-thank you," Mavis quietly said, just as the train stopped. "Well, we're here," Twilight said, letting Mavis onto her back, and walking out of the train, "Ok, so where should we go first?" she asked her friends. "How about Sugarcube Corner? Maybe Mavis would like something sweet?" Melody suggested. "Well, its worth a shot, what do you say Mavis?" Twilight asked. "Uh, w-well I don't know. Sugary f-foods make me all q-queasy, but I d-doubt it'll be l-like that f-forever," Mavis replied. "Well, we could make a sugar free cupcake for you, if you want?" Pinkie Pie asked. "W-well, I guess that w-would be o-ok," Mavis replied, playing with her hair. "Ok, we'll make it," Pinkie said, as she and the others made their way to the bake shop. Back in the Crystal Empire, Cadence and Shining Armor were beginning to make Mavis' bedroom. It came complete with a toy box full of toys like a ball, some stuffed animals, and a coloring book collection, a little table for tea parties, some floral bed sheets, and some decorative window shades, "Oh Shining, I hope Mavis will like what we give her," Cadence said. "I'm sure she will," Shining Armor reassured, as the door opened to reveal Celestia and Luna. "How goes the decorating?" Celestia asked. "We're just about done. Good thing I know what to use to help counter Mavis' fearful nature," Cadence said, holding up a book which was named 'Decorating for children with endless fear', "This one chapter explains how the right window shades help give soothing comfort to children like Mavis," Cadence said, looking up the chapter on window shades. "Well, we've just about got the paperwork ready for you to sign, but that can wait until Mavis is ready for a party, as Pinkie Pie said," Celestia said. "Great! Now Mavis can feel happy and secure, knowing she'll have a loving family to care for her," Cadence exclaimed happily. 'Humph, too bad she'll never get the chance, because I will use the love you give her against her, then I, Prince Blueblood, will retake me rightful place as prince of Equestria, and dethrone all unworthy royals, starting with you, dear cousin Cadence, and that nopony, Twilight Sparkle. Afterwards, I can banish all those apes from Equestria, once and for all,' Blueblood thought to himself, as he lurked in the shadows. Chapter 1: Fear and Comfort (rewritten)Chapter 1: Fear and comfort (edited) On a calm, autumn night in the Crystal Empire, two ponies, an alicorn an a unicorn, who were Princess Cadence and Prince Shining Armor, were walking home to their palace where they lived peacefully.
