Arctic air. Night skies. The two combined made for a deadly cold that was not so much biting as devouring. Most ponies would never venture out in such weather – only the insane, and the soon-dead.
Princess Luna was neither, and she was not like most ponies. Even so, her Alicorn magic only provided partial protection against the cold. Her cloak seemed thin as paper when faced with the northern winds. The beating of her wings, the inner action of her muscles, produced little heat, which was only stolen away by the frozen air.
Still, she flew on. There was no turning back, and she had to reach her destination.
She was nearly there now. She could see the outline of the Crystal Empire’s ward in the distance, gleaming like the moon in the night. The sight of it spurred her onward. But eager though she was to reach it, she resisted the urge to fly harder. She didn’t want to tire herself out so early.
As she passed the barrier separating the Crystal Empire from the frozen wastes outside, she felt a wave of warmth overtake her. In an instant her shivering muscles relaxed, and she let out a sigh of contentment as the warm air of the Empire welcomed her. But still she didn’t cease her flight, instead continuing forward towards a particular building on the outskirts of the empire.
Most of the windows of the unassuming building were unlit, save one, and it was towards this light that she flew towards. A warm light spilled out onto a balcony, upon which she alighted. With a growing sense of excitement, she opened the doors leading inside with her magic and walked inside.
Within was a magnificent four-poster bed, with dark red blankets and wonderfully fluffy pillows. Also in the room was a writing desk upon which numerous tomes were stacked. But Luna had eyes only for the occupant of the room, a dark grey, almost black unicorn stallion with an unkempt black mane and red eyes which even now were looking towards her from his position at the writing desk.
“Sombra,” She said breathlessly.
“My love,” he replied.
The pair stepped towards each other. Their lips met. A moment passed which seemed like eternity.
As they parted, Sombra asked, “And how was your journey?” As he spoke, he gripped her cloak in his magic, gently lifting it over her wings and casting it to the floor, revealing her graceful form.
She nearly shivered at the recollection of the cold. “It was… extremely cold. We feared we would freeze on the journey. All worth it for thee. How is thy research progressing?”
Sombra nuzzled her neck gently. “It’s going quite well… though you wouldn’t want to hear about that.” He smiled. “I’m sure you came here for something quite different…”
“Indeed,” She replied. She kissed him happily, melting into him and his warmth as he returned the kiss with passion. When they broke away, she said softly, “We’ve missed thee… Thou art the only one who appreciates our night…”
“Don’t think that, Luna.” He kissed her again, before breaking away and nuzzling her face and neck again. “Your night is truly beautiful.” He gestured with a hoof towards the still-open balcony doors. “I know there’s somepony who appreciates it. Nowhere near as much as I, of course.” He grinned.
Luna let out a soft giggle. “We thank thee for it.”
Sombra continued, “All it takes is a single night of stargazing and ponies will surely see the wonder of the night, see the effort and soul you have put into the night sky.” He gave her a quick kiss before continuing. “But truly, the night can barely compare to your own beauty…”
“Flatterer,” She said, smiling.
“You know I’m right,” he said in return. And with that, he kissed her again, pressing into her with such passion and ferocity that he forced her to take a step back.
There was a twinkle in her eyes as Sombra pulled back. “Thou art very… forward tonight…”
“I’ve just missed you.” He ran a hoof along her cheek. “Besides, I don’t think you came here just for talking… right?”
“Yes, but-“ She was silenced by another kiss from Sombra, while he slowly removed her royal vestments with his magic.
As he drew back, he said breathlessly, “I want you, Luna… will you have me?”
“You mean…?” Her eyes widened slightly.
“Yes,” he said. There was a dark passion in his eyes. “Mate with me.”
She smiled. “Yes!” She kissed him in return, some of his desire flowing into her. “Gladly, our love.”
Sombra smiled and walked over to the bed, lying on his side upon it and looking over at her with an eager expression. As Luna approached the bed from the opposite side, she couldn’t resist glancing at his member, if only for a brief moment. Sombra seemed to notice, grinning and shifting his hips slightly. Luna lay on the bed beside him, to be greeted with a kiss.
“You must still be cold from your journey,” he said. “Let me warm you up…” With that he pressed into her, wrapping his forelegs around her and pulling her into a tight embrace. He kissed her warmly for a moment before drawing back and running his tongue along her muzzle, before drawing in for another kiss. She let out a soft sigh of pleasure around the kiss and pressed into him in return, wrapping her own forelegs around him to return his embrace.
They continued like this for several minutes, nuzzling, kissing, licking, and hugging, until at last Sombra’s breathing grew heavy and Luna could feel a pressure building up against her nethers. She blushed faintly, scarcely able to believe what was going to happen next.
Sombra gave a soft growl of pleasure and then said, “Another reason the night is superior… it’s during this time that passion is so often consummated. Like ours…” He kissed her passionately before breaking away and moving his muzzle down, kissing her chest and belly as he went. In time he reached her nethers, and gave her flower a slow, purposeful lick. The action drew a gasp of pleasure from Luna, at which Sombra grinned and licked again. He pressed his muzzle between her legs, exploring her genitals with his tongue. Luna’s breathing grew longer and deeper, and she pawed at his head with her forelegs, running her hooves through his mane and massaging his horn.
At last he could taste the nectar flowing from her flower. He brought his muzzle back up to hers, kissing her deeply. “I love you, Luna… and it’s because of that I’m willing to share my body with you.” He reached a leg over her and rolled atop her, straddling her. “Do you want me as much as I want you?” He whispered in her ear.
“Yes,” She whispered in return.
“Good.” And with that she felt a pressure at her nethers as his member slid into her wet vagina. She gasped softly, wrapping her hooves around his neck as he began to thrust into her, gently at first, but with increasing force.
“Sombra…” Luna moaned softly. She pulled him into her, eager for him but too proper to say so. He seemed to read her, as he quickened his pace, matching her desire with his own. Soon his breathing began to pick up and the occasional soft growl could be heard.
For a moment there was no sound except the pair’s gasps and moans, and the wet sounds of his member sliding in and out of her. Then Sombra growled softly and said, “What did I ever do to deserve a mare as wonderful as you?” He slowly began to increase his force, until he was pounding her hard.
Luna smiled. “Sombra… We… I… love thee so much…” She gasped loudly, already nearing her climax.
“I’m glad…” He slowed down briefly as he kissed her. “I love you, too.”
At last, Luna’s breathing picked up again, and she moaned loudly, closing her eyes as her orgasm hit her, wanting to savor the sensation as much as possible. She could hear his breathing grow faster, feel the wetness inside her.
She didn’t see the green glow in his eyes as he lost control in her. After a moment passed, the glow faded, and Luna opened her eyes to see his familiar red orbs staring into hers. They both smiled, their breathing slowing down as their climaxes faded. At last Sombra settled down atop her, and the two embraced, kissing each other deeply.
“Thank you,” Sombra said when at last the two pulled away from their kiss.
“Thank thee,” Luna replied, “For everything.”
Sombra smiled and kissed her softly. They held each other in their hooves for a long time, content to be in each other’s company, kissing and nuzzling each other. But at last Luna said, “It’s almost time for the sun to be raised… Celestia will miss us if we’re not back…”
“I see.” Disappointment was etched into Sombra’s voice, but his face still held a smile. “I can’t wait until you’re with me again...” he said, stepping off her and allowing her to rise to her hooves.
She stepped off the bed and walked towards the balcony, her magic already reattaching her vestaments and cloak. At last she finished and stepped onto the balcony, spreading her wings. As she was about to take flight, she looked back at Sombra. “Remember that we love thee.”
“I will,” Sombra replied. “And not a night will go by when I won’t think of you.”
Luna smiled before flapping her wings and taking off. Sombra watched as she flew into the sky, and watched her disappear into the distance. It was only then that he closed the doors to the balcony with his magic and walked over to the writing desk, where he pulled out a thick book he’d quickly hidden when Luna arrived.
The title read, in gothic font, “Ars Tenebrarum: The Dark Arts Unveiled.” He opened the book and flipped to the page he’d left off on, and continued reading. “One day, my love…” he murmured softly. “When I’m king, all will learn to appreciate the darkness.”
