Chapter 1: Between worlds

The universe is made of billions and billions of… Wait…wait, hold on let’s start again.
The sounds of paper being rustled are heard from a distance as if one was in some sort of recording studio, or something of that nature.
The universe is an infinite sea of potential, holding life in one hand and cold lonely lifeless darkness in the other. Today however we are focusing on the light life part, and how two worlds began to congregate. And it all started with just one boy.
We begin on the planet Terra occupied by all manner of anthropomorphic beast, a society fueled by magic and technology. Unlike the other society we are going to get to in a bit, the magic here is person specific, instead of being catch all. If a person is born with a power it is mostly likely to be some form manipulation of one thing, but that’s it really. What one does with that, is one’s own business. As far as the tech goes, Terra‘s society was advancing, the rumblings of something called the internet was going around. Things were moving forward.
But, this world wasn't all sunshine though; there was rather dark underbelly, as cliché as that sounds. You remember that magic I mentioned, well every once in a while people are born into that world with magic powers that have potential to be some most powerful people on that planet. Obviously this would take the interest of many, Governments, PMC’s, Mobs ect. These organizations had methods to detain, or create these individuals, so they can use them in whatever conflict they are involved in. Kidnapping kids in the night, killing their parents that sort of thing. A father has to work for some mob to get rid of his grueling debts, you get the idea. Earnestly asking these people for assistance in most cases didn't really help, so these organizations helped themselves. Today is about how one young lad hid away from this issue all together, or rather where he hid.
Roth is young male anthropomorphic dark red, red, and white wolf who happens to have a lot of potential. During a physical education class in his high school, he showed he had potential for extreme space time manipulation. A rare power on its own, but someone who can handle that level of power is even more uncommon. Usually folks die, or aren't strong enough, Roth’s a rarity though. Eventually word got out of Roth’s display, and eventually reached some ears with the money and power to pursue an active interest in that potential; these people began plotting for Roth’s eventual “enlistment” in their “causes”
Luckily for Roth, he lives with his grandfather a person all too familiar with the seedier sides of that of the “enlisting” business, that was his old job. Retired now, emotionally and physically beaten, defeated and out living his kids because of it, he doesn’t really care for that type of life anymore. He cares for his grandson though, and would do anything to make sure that Roth never has to live that life. His grandfather, despite not having been involved in that sort of thing for a very long time , still had some ears to the pavement. And heard about the planned kidnapping of Roth beforehand.
So over the course of a week while Roth was at school, he devised a plan to keep Roth safe. He had actually thought about this long before now, he had hoped it would never had to come to this. Now the time came and he had to actually put whatever ideas he had into a single coherent plan, and over that week he did.
When Roth returned home that Friday of that week, he was greeted to grand meal with a lot of his favorite foods, and he devoured them hastily, it’s almost as if he knew something was going to happen. But he didn't, Roth was just greedy, something else Roth didn't know was that food was cooked with a very special ingredient, a toxin. Nothing deadly, just enough to knock Roth out for a few hours and just enough time for his grandfather to execute his plan. Roth’s grandfather was another one of those rare few with time and space manipulation, just nowhere near as strong or potentially strong in Roth’s case. He wasn't a slouch though, a fine assassin in his day, but today was not an assassination, it was a day for extra-dimensional travel through worlds. He knew Roth wouldn't be safe on Terra, they would search the ends of the planet and beyond for Roth, sadly Roth was too valuable. So today he was going to send Roth to another planet entirely, another reality, another Terra, another world, and hopefully, another home. He sat Roth on his stomach, placing a back pack on Roth filled with some clothes, some basic supplies and a note. He put a hand on the back of his head, and concentrated with all his might, closing his eyes his mind being sent visualizations of the destination, their bodies began to glow with a blue energy.
The task was to find place “close” enough, close being in the largest quotations possible, that Roth might eventually find his way back if he grows powerful enough, and one that seemed peaceful enough that if he didn't he could at least live there. During that week he had gone “scouting “, a sort of astral projection. Exploring worlds through his mind because he was far too weak to go there himself and come back in a reasonable amount of time to help Roth. Eventually he found one that seemed peaceful aside from the occasional magical disturbance, and this place seemed to have plenty of people who are more than capable of defending themselves, and that world. And many of the species that lived there seemed to be friendly, some more than others, so he would have to be very particular where he dropped Roth.
With a deep breath and concentration of energy, Roth was gone in a cosmic blaze. Embers resembling the depths of space burned on the floor. That technique actually robbed Roth’s grandfather of most of the energy he had, he experimented with such techniques in his youth, but he never thought he would ever have to use something like that again. He was old, and he was emotionally and physically drained because of what happened today, he had taken his grandson away from his life, his friends, to keep him and hopefully those close to him protected.
He wanted to rest, he wanted to think on what just happened, so the sat there on the floor for seemed like hours. His rest was cut short though, today would be the day Roth’s liberators would come to...“appropriate” him for a “greater cause”. As Roth’s grandfather sat on the floor in the living room, trying to recover from what he had done to his grandson front door flew open, people resembling ninjas came from the front door and the upstairs.
They saw Roth’s grandfather in the living room and swiftly confronted him with weapons and a single question, “where is your grandson?”.
“Grandson?” He replied in an inquisitive manner “I don’t have a grandson. I am just lonely ex-goon who due to his incompetence…and some snitching, is living out his days alone on his retirement. I wish I had a grandson he could keep me company and I could tell him stories.” He points to one of the ninjas “one day you will appreciate company like that son, the cool powers don’t last forever, and you grow old and…”
“Stop you insolent geriatric! Where is your grandson?! We will not ask again!”
“Well I hope you don’t because I don’t have one” He replied in a tone in a rather annoyed tone. “ I used to be just like you, all the yelling and the threats, but sometimes you have to look at the situation as a whole. Do you see a kid in this house? No? Maybe you have the wrong house."
“No.. No we don’t see a boy” The person yelling out the demands seems to be the head of their little squad, he snaps his fingers and one of his subordinates hands him a sheet of paper, with Roth’s information on it. “So this isn't your grandson?”
“No” No replied the old man
“Your name is here under legal guardian and Grandparent”
“Typo’s happen”. The old man smiled
“There is a room upstairs that is currently messy and filled with clothes that a young person would wear and with school work in it, who does that belong to ?” the ninja questions growing ever so impatient.
“My guests” He retorts
“You have guests that are teen-aged boys in school?”
“Sometimes it gets lonely”
“That’s creepy”
“Imma creepy guy” He said in the creepiest old man tone possible. He had never done anything near what he could be implying, but he was just enjoying getting under the guy’s skin at this point.
The ninja sighs and goes silent for a bit before finally giving out an order and a response
“Kill him.”
Two ninja’s approach from the left and the right of the old man with swords, he back-flips out of the way and delivers a fierce kick to each of their skulls knocking them out, they collapse on the floor.
“ I may be down, I may be old, I may be creepy, But I am not a push over “ Roth’s grandfather roared at them with a rather determined look on his face.
“Well good, let’s have some fun “The lead ninja smirked

And we will leave that there. Let’s get to Roth; Roth at this moment is going through a portal, slowly waking up, because travel has actually lasted hours, because his grandfather wasn't strong enough to make the transfer instantaneous.
He emerges from a he portal from up high in an entirely new world; the portal singed his grandpa’s letter to some degree, his clothes burning with some small cosmic embers as he falls to the ground. He lands in the middle of a place called Ponyville in the middle of the day, in the middle of town no less.
With crackle of thunder and with a loud thud his landing alerts all the inhabitants of this busy part of town of his arrival, or an attack, at least that’s what they thought at the time. Inciting a lot of screams of terror, confusion and surprise from the town’s people who have now started running for their lives at thought of what might be happening considering past events involving evil trying to destroy the world.
Amidst the confusion a very intelligent inhabitant named Twilight Sparkle took responsibility as a princess and protector of this world and investigated what just happened, she finds Roth, in something of a crater unconscious from the impact. Roth didn't look like his was breathing, he wasn't exactly a pony but their bodies were similar enough and she knew enough about basic biology to know that that was not good. Using her magic she quickly lifted him and brought him to the Ponyville hospital, telling spike to get some help from her friends and try to calm the town’s people down, whose mass hysteria is causing more property damage than good right now.
A few hours later
Roth wakes up in a hospital bed in a patient gown; he looks around the empty room wondering where he is.
What happened, why I am in a hospital? He thinks to himself.
Last thing I remember was eating something granda… ah food poisoning or something, well at least I seem to be doing ok. Something is off though this hospital looks… a lot different than the one near my house. A lot less space…and I seem to be in a room all to myself. Seems a bit much for a guy who ate some bad food.
The door to the room Roth is in begins to open, his attention now on who is coming, hoping he could get some answers. Nurse Redheart is at the door; Twilight Sparkle and Rarity enter the room,Twilight dressed in white dress shirt sweater vest with her cutie mark insignia on it and skirt, rarity in a sweater and jeans, they begin to engage our rather confused protagonist.
“ Uh.. Hey” Roth begins “ So, food poisoning right? And Where is this hospital, this isn't the one near my home in SureShire”
Rarity begins rather confused “Food poisoning?” She turns to twilight “You told me he feel from the sky.”
“Fell from the sky!?” Roth asks rather alarmed, even more confused than he was before
Twilight turns to Roth “Fell from the sky, yes. You fell from the sky with so much momentum you created a crater in the ground, you were unconscious when I found you, and so I brought you here”
“Ok, so where is here exactly?” Roth asks inquisitively calming himself down a bit.
“Ponyville hospital” Twilight gives a succinct response.
“Ponyville, ok. Where is that?” Roth asks, calming himself down
“Ponyville is a town in the land of equestria… equestira is the kingdom where…”
“Wait Kingdom, equestria… so this isn't Shirshire in the state of GreatShire, the democracy on the planet terra?”
“No, Sorry. Though that does sound quite interesting, something I should talk to you about later”
“ So I am on an entirely other world, right?” Roth asked rather plainly
“Wow, I thought you would freak out or, we would have to tell you and then you not believe us at first, but you came to that conclusion all on your own. Thanks for saving us some time, though it is a bit weird you aren't a bit more animated about this, or our appearance.” Twilight inquired enthusiastically.
“Your appearance?” Roth says confused
“We must look a great deal different than your species” Twilight responds
“Actually where I come from, you don’t. There are all types of people some look more avian, some more equestrian like you … oh my god that’s hilarious. You named your entire kingdom after your species?” Roth laughing while asked twilight the question
“ Yes yes we know, darling. It was named during a period in our history when we weren't exactly the most considerate people to those who weren't a part of our species.” Rarity says , a bit ashamed
“It’s something to talk about during political meetings, misguided ancestors aside. You say that we don’t look that different, so your planet must hold a great variety of intelligent life similar to you. Very Interesting!” Twilight says growing more enthusiastic about learning.
“Yeah, I just have never seen someone as bright a shade of purple as you are… miss.. I have no idea what your names are” Roth stretches coming upon that realization
“ My name is Rarity , this is Twilight Sparkle” She points to twilight “Traditionally, one gives their name before asking for someone else’s dear, so if you wouldn't mind?” Rarity asked with a giggle motioning for him to speak
“Ah…Yeah sorry, Roth Rojo.”
“Rather Cute and accurate” Rarity giggled
“So you get It” He says, with a rather annoyed look on his face
“I get the last name, the first one is rather unfamiliar to me but I am going to guess by the spelling it also me...” Rarity begins
“Yes, yes I don’t like talking about it” Roth says in tone suggesting more than casually that they drop the subject. He looks down blushing a bit, He liked his name, but he also found it rather embarrassing.
“Fine, fine” She says giggling some more
“Back to the most important subject at the moment, how did I get here?” Roth asks the two
“From what I can gather from your explanation and how you arrived, you were sent here” Twilight states, looking directly at Roth
“By whom?” Roth says with a rather confused look on his face
“I can’t really answer that, though if I had to make a very wild guess based of very limited information; I would imagine it’s who gave you the ‘food poisoning’.” Twilight suggests, shrugging
“Grandpa?” He said confused “He can’t do anything like that, at least that I know of he was never able to use magic, when I first figured out I could use magic he seemed to be against the notion.”
“You have magic too?! We definitely have to talk later”
“ Ah twilight, even in times like these, your desire to learn goes unabated” Rarity says shrugging and closing her eyes, twilight just giggles a bit
“ Uh, yeah I can use magic, I just learned I could. I’m not very good at it yet, see.” Roth Snaps his fingers and teleports a table near his bed to space on the other side of the room
“ Oh interesting, many of our kind learn magic from a very young age but If I had to hazard a guess it seems like you…"
Rarity Stops twilight with a hand over her mouth
“ While I would love to sit here through more of this…interview , we have more Important matters to discuss. Like how exactly are you feeling Roth?”
“ Fine I guess, I can get up and move” Roth moves the sheets that are covering him in the hospital bed and begins to get out of the bed, his feet hit the floor and stands up, he is around the high of rarity and Twilight. What Roth didn’t know how ever is that his gown was rather short, he yawned and stretched and revealed a bit more to his new friends than he may have wanted to
“ Oh my” Said rarity
“Hmm?” Inquired Roth
“N-Nothing, anywho, I suppose you can find more answers about your arrival with your belongings.” Twilight says a bit flustered
Twilight teleports the clothes he arrived in onto his bed, a white hoodie, and shorts that were this very dark blue color. There were some underwear, and a pair of White and red sneakers.
“We will leave you to your clothes dear, that is something we will have to talk about later” Rarity says with a smirk
“Rarity, even in times like these, always focused on fashion” Twilight says shrugging closing her eyes mimicking rarity as she leaves the room.
“I’m motivated.” She giggles and leaves the room as well.
A short time later
Roth leaves the room, his hoodie open and the sleeves pushed up , shorts and shoes and undies on. He looks around and sees twilight and rarity on a bench near his room.
“Wow. Someone works out. ” Twilight Said, appreciative of his choice in attire, showing off his chest and midriff, roth was very fit. He Worked out, very muscular, not one of those super lefield- esque roided out super dudes. But he was fit.
“Self-defense, so if something happens I can fight someone off of me. It’s also nice to just keep in shape”
“Alright, showoff lets go”
“Show off?”
“Dear, you come out here with an open jacket showing off your body bragging to two women you just met about how you work out. You sure like to work fast, on a new planet already showing of the goods, you haven’t even asked me out yet, unless you’re that kind of guy. Oh my what a troublesome visitor”
Roth rolled his eyes and played along with rarities shenanigans
“You must not look at me with such a perverted gaze” He tries to cover himself up in a playful manner.
Rarity and twilight get off the bench, rarity giving him two pats on the back.
“Alright you delicate flower you, we must be off.” Rarity giggles
“Where are we going?” Roth asks
“Your ‘new home’ so to speak” Twilight responds
“This is going to take some getting used to” Roth says with a hand to his forehead
Twilight, Roth and Rarity leave the hospital, walking to their destination, rarity’s boutique. It was evening the end of the day was drawing near, the sun setting as they walk. After a while they arrive, rarity gets out her keys and unlocks the door, to find a pink hyper-active surprise bouncing around in her living room.
“Pinkie Pie?” Twilight inquired “How did she get in here?”
“Pinkie comes over quite often and despite what you may think, she is actually quite good and color composition and outfit arrangement. I gave her the key in case of emergencies, at first she lives with the cakes on occasion their marriage can a bit... dicey "
You see Mr. And Mrs cake fighting with pots and pans violently in the middle of their story over batter constancy.
" They uh.. they really like cakes, anywho she uses it now just to see what I am doing. She turned out to have more uses than just partying so I let her keep it” Rarity says walking into her home
“ come come , I promise she doesn't bite Roth, today maybe…Occasionally she may bite you ” Rarity admits reluctantly
Roth walks in looking around the place, he sees right away that this seems to be a place of business as well as a home. Twilight comes in right after him
“So who’s the new friend!” with the ever enthusiastic inquiry
“Why don’t you ask him yourself, although I like how have you decided beforehand that he is already your friend.”
“Everyone is a friend!” Pinkie says enthusiastically
“True true, I forgot who I was dealing with” Says playfully
Pinkie pie dashes up to Roth, Roth looking rather confused.
“Uh hello...”
“HIHI I’m Pinkie Pie! What’s your name? Where you from? How did you get here? Did you know you fell from the sky? Do you like parties? I like parties. What’s your favorite color? What’s your favorite food? What type of music do you like? You look very strong, do you play sports? If so , what sports do you play? I think you will like it here! You have to come to the Cake’s bakery sometime and I will cook you up some cupcakes! Have you met Dash, Fluttershy and Applejack yet? Applejack works on a farm, do you have a farm? Am I annoying with this barrage of questions, using them as an exposition dump to simultaneously give the reader useful and throw away information so we don’t have to waste conversation time on it despite the author’s rambling nature?” She says very quickly, it’s almost too much to keep track off, Roth got it though
“Roth Rojo, Terra,Extra-dimensional portal apparently, I was informed yes. Indifferent and cliché as this may sound, red. No, I just work out, thanks; sure, no I haven’t met them. No I do not work on a farm, and No I am not annoyed miss deceased lake. And what author? “Roth Answers and asks his own questions in a very succinct manner.
“Deceased lake?” Pinkie says with a rather confused look on her face
“It’s a reference to a thing, in my world I guess you wouldn't get it” Roth replied
“No I got it, I just thought your name for it was mediocre at best” Pinkie says a matter of fact manner
“One, how did you even get that. Two, I’m sorry I am not master of references such as yourself” Roth says now with a confused look on his face
“Don’t worry, I’ll teach ya, how to be a master of referential humor!” She says rather close to him, smirking and looking up at him, pinking pie a bit shorter than her friends. She pokes his chest with her finger, then rubs it with her hand than pats it “You will be confusing the best of em’ when I’m done with ya!”
“But you didn't answer.. How” Roth begins to inquire, but is quickly cut off
“Ahem, I think our friend might not want this much attention this soon pinkie.” Twilight says, thinking that Roth may not want to be bothered with her shenanigans this early “Also I’m sure he wants to see where he will be staying “
“Yes, that would be great” he says lifting pink pony up up and placing her out of his way.
“It’s up stairs, come come” Rarity says , motioning for everyone to follow her.
The four walk up some stairs stars and down a hallway past some rooms and arrive at rarity's guest room, its rather empty a bed, drawers, a mirror, very basic stuff. Roth’s back pack had been place these though, unopened as off yet, but seemed to be almost bursting at the seams with something. And a note attached to the top off it, though a lot of the note seemed to have been burned by his arrival. They all sit on the bed as Roth grabs the bag.
“I came here with my bag? And there is a piece of paper” Roth picks up the piece of paper and saw that it had writing on it, he begins reading it aloud. The paper was burned though so he made out what he could .It seemed to be a letter written by his grandfather “I love you Roth, Don’t just survive, Strive like us rojo’s are known to do. Sincerely, Noire Rojo”
“Noire Rojo?, is that the grandfather you mentioned?”
“Yes it is, so he is the one who sent me here. Why? I do not know, whatever information this letter had, it’s burned now” Roth says a with a bit of sad look on his face
“How about we check what’s inside your bag darling” Rarity inquires
Roth nods and proceeds to open his backpack, clothes shoot out all over the room, way more than what should fit in the bag. A tooth brush, some towels, and few other supplies.
“Impossible space? Maybe your granddad knew more about magic than you thought Roth.” Twilight suggests.
“I guess there is a lot I don’t know about him. I guess I will see where this goes, moving forwards that sort of thing” Roth Shrugged
“I have to say, you are taking this quite well” Twilight responds
“All you have done for me is help me, and no harm has come with way as of yet so I don’t have any real reason to be too afraid. It also helps that within hours of waking up, I have 3 beautiful women in my bed,” he says chuckling
Twilight blushed a bit and rolled her eyes.
“See, already at work, I’m on to you Casanova” Rarity said playfully
“You are going to have to work a bit harder than that!” Pinkie says smiling raising a finger in the air, swiveling her neck
“Oh so it isn't off the table pinkie? I never knew you were that kind of girl, scandalous” Rarity jokingly said
“What, he’s got the goods; even it doesn't exactly look like us. Isn't that right Twilight?” Pinkie looked to twilight
Twilight laughed a bit and rolled her eyes “ Alright lets go pinkie, I’m sure he would like to get settled in, he has a big day ahead of him, several big days”
“Oh?” Roth says rather confused.
“Yes, you can’t stay in this room forever, If you are going to be staying here, you should at least be properly introduced to the world you are living in. And meet some ponies, some very important.”
“V.I.P’s?”
“Technically yes, Princesses, actually. They would like to meet you, and they may have some answers on how to get you home as soon as possible”
“Well alright, thanks for your help.” He begins picking his stuff up off the flooring and placing them in drawer and such.
Twilight and pinkie wave him goodbye and leave the room, rarity stays and helps him pick up the clothes and things.
“I promise to be hospitable as I possibly can while you are here Roth. And with you I have a fit young man helping me every once in a while. It seems you have already made your way into my home. Oh how quickly you have wooed me, do you do this to every girl you meet? ” She giggled a bit
Roth rolled his eyes “The falling through a portal into your town trick always gets the ladies.” he said sarcastically “Your friend pinkie pie seems to be a hyperactive ball of pink, but you seem to be far more mysterious than she is. Why did you offer to hold me up? I’m sure some facility could have taken me in, the hospital maybe”
“I guess I haven’t lost my touch, and as far as your inquiry goes, because I’m feeling generous. That’s all you need to know” She shrugs and finishes putting all the stuff away.
“Well thanks I guess”
“Don’t thank me now, thank me later. This housing isn’t free you know, I have uses for you. You may rest now though, it’s getting a bit late”
“I think I’ll do just that”
“If you need anything I will be in the room down the hall working on some clothes, bathroom is across the hall from you. Anyways good night”
“Goodnight”
Rarity closes the door when she leaves the room.
Roth stripped down to his underwear and laid in his new bed staring out a nearby window, wondering about everything that has happened, and everything that could happen.
After a while Roth drifts off to sleep.
