The Sword of Dust

Dust never cared for the famous life. He had all he needed, even though living on the streets wasn't exactly paradise. But when a legendary sword calls to him, will dust answer the calling for a hero? And if he does, how many ponies will stop at nothing to end him?

This story is set in the magical land of Falsara, where ponies brandish magical swords and evil spells.

Three ponies gathered into a tight circle in the back on an alleyway. There was a pegasus, a unicorn, and an earth pony. The three whispered to each other, while beyond their conversation, the sound of the city filled the air. The light blue unicorn noticed something was wrong first. He sniffed the air. "What is it Tidepool?" The brown pegasus asked. Suddenly, a shadow appeared in front of them, showing no sign of emotion. The three ponies took a big step back. "Who are you?!" The yellow earth pony bravely yelled.

The figure was silent. Something glinted off of his side but then quickly disappeared. The three ponies stood their ground, but they couldn't help being terrified. The tension was so tight in the air, you could cut it with ease. It seemed like the figure was studying the three ponies. Suddenly, the shadow ran forward. It happened so fast, the ponies could barely see it. But they did. They saw it too late. The mysterious pony pulled out something long and shiny out of a sheath on its side. A long sword.

The ponies had nowhere to run, nowhere to hide.

It was over before they knew it.
