The setting is mostly pre-Equestrian times and as we know the clans are at each others throats. The main character is Starswirl, who struggles not to care about the feud but is repeatedly dragged into it one way or another. The story also gives a deeper look on the world before Equestria and also features the Gryphon kingdom, It also goes into detail about the leaders of the clans, their personalities etc. as well as filly Luna and Tia and the story of how they became alicorns
