It was a beautiful day just outside the stone building in Canterlot. Celestia's sun was at it's apex, just a few minutes away from it's slow descent to the other side of the horizon. Though mid-day was upon the city, a cool breeze kept the temperature from being overbearing. The birds were racing each other from the eaves and their nests, chirping in delight that the rain had been pushed back to later in the evening. While most of Canterlot was carved stone walls and cobble streets, it's color was parried by the innumerable planters lining the streets, green chutes headed by a dizzying array of colored flowers and grasses. It was a beautiful, scratch that, perfect day to be outside.
Flicker Feather, a golden orange toned unicorn with a blonde mane and tail, that hid his chocolate colored privates. While his tail was kept shorter than normal ponies, it was well-groomed in comparison to his mane. Not to say that his mane was a tangled mess of hair, but rather organized chaos of volume that nearly smothered his horn in the mass of hair follicles. With a surfboard, he would look right at home with the ponies of the coastal regions.
He was inside a low stone building with a golden wheat stalk thatched roof. The height reaching windows let in enough light for their size to be a curse, a siren's call to enjoy the day, a day just on the other side of a single pane of glass. Just out back was a garden with a walkway that ran it's length down all the buildings of the street, making what looked like a green alleyway.
He wasn't stuck inside. At any point he could lay down his work and trot off into a greener pastures beyond and enjoy the day for what it was. The customers had no immediate need for his services, as very few in Canterlot required the leather and rope work that manual labor required.
Father of the Bridle, a small tack shop nestled near the main gates of the city and a shared wall with the carriage service next door down. It was odd that the shop was as successful as it was, with the lack farms in the immediate area. But the carriage shop always needed a new harness, a hauling line replaced or suspension repairs due to the younger stallions who had the strength that the aging transportation didn't. Some of the more... clandestine crafts were partly to blame for the success as well.
The owner of the tack shop, a muddy brown toned earth pony endearing called "Pa" had grown frail in his elder years, spending more time at home than his shop. While his children had all grown and chosen to take work outside the family's business, Flicker had filled in the role of Pa's 'Son he wished he had', learning the trade as it was passed down. Many weeks it was just Flicker on his own, making all the repairs necessary and crafting new pieces for the gear that was too worn out.
Flicker Feather had an amazing skill in both drafting and crafting the leather into each desired piece. Every harness fit perfectly, never chafed and was seldom removed as they were the most comfortable pieces of work gear every-pony who wore them had even felt. This was both a blessing and a curse to Flicker, as his mind wandered once he had started to mature.
Once he realized that he possessed a mastery of leather and rope, the sky was the limit. A dark side was born late one night. A stallion by the name of Shunt, who pulled the carriages through out the city, stopped by Father of the Bridle still wearing the leather harness. Flicker felt a know twist in his stomach, fearing that his first public work was inadequate. Being the only pony left working there at that hour, he swallowed his pride and began to speak with the stallion.
His fear dissipated quickly, as glowing praise from Shunt quenched the fear. The stallion went on to remark further that he had made quite a pile of Bits that day as he didn't need to adjust anything or remove the harness and rest. But as well fitted as the harness was, Flicker didn't receive his cutie-mark in leather work, it came a bit later.
Shunt had asked, in a rather hushed tone, if Flicker made any other 'harnesses' out of leather. Being of age, but still green in the ways of the world, Flicker had to ask why the emphasis on harness was used. Several low spoken sentences later and he was wide eyed, his cheeks flushed with red. Such things should not have been spoken of in daylight or even the setting sun as it was.
Shunt managed to convince Flicker, the hoof-full of Bits helped as well, to make one of these 'harnesses' for his wife. Though it was under the nose of Pa, and through the night until dawn broke. The entire time he was guided by the carriage driver, thick leather, padding, metal rings and eyelets for leather laces. He had used up enough for five harnesses in the creation of this single one.
The finished creation looked more akin to that of a medevil torturer's apparel. A thin leather hood, a harness that when applied would immobilize any pony put into it, and enough metal rings and supports for the occupant to be suspended from any angle and maintain comfort for several hours.
With a sense of accomplishment and a nagging terror clenched around his mind at the creation's intended purpose, he saw Shunt off with the 'harness' tucked inside the canvas bag the stallion carried. The abomination of leather weighed heavily on the stallion, causing him to question what he had just created. Even the weight of coins in his leather working saddle seemed lighter than this new sensation the 'harness' had filled him with.
Flicker stashed the coins in the register, nodded a hello to Pa as he rounded the corner. He managed to blurb out a reason why he couldn't leave the shop until dawn, but that the money was well worth his need to take the day off. He went home and curled himself on his bed in confusion, unsure of the ramifications of creating this odd of device.
But this first event was many years ago now, and the confusion he felt was just the push of a seed into his raw pure mind. A seed that grew into a beautiful tree, one who's limbs twisted back on each other, knotting like rope around a pony's form to hold them fast. Thick bark covered limbs blanketed with loops and eyelets should the tree's tangled mess not suffice to restrain a pony. Though one could observe from the outside and see thick lush foliage that covered it's twisted insides. Only those invited into the center of the canopy would become caught in it's web. A bondage tree.
In retrospect, his aversion to this new world was laughable. Any-pony would agree that it was taboo, but once brought up in conversation the reddening of cheeks was a dead give away to those who were new participants. Though Flicker had mastered his poker face and was able to maintain composure when the subject was breached. Even whispers of this world brought some ponies to a level of discomfort, squirming in their hooves, changing the subject whenever possible.
From that single seed, he was able to grow into this world and reach out to others with his leather tendrils of restraint. This was when he gained his cutie-mark, though very late in his young adulthood. It was a collection of small hearts around a feather. It symbolized love, a love for a good time, laughter and merciless unadulterated fun. A feather could reach deep down and get those places that could drive a pony to tears of laughter, gasping for air and snorting with impunity. Every-pony had one area that would bring them to crack a smile ear to ear, but sometimes the feather didn't reach this place, it was symbolism. The feather was light, floated with the breeze and had many many uses, just like Flicker.
He had built up an underground following, those that knew what he made and what he could do. Flicker could have fun with any-pony. Sometimes it was light-hearted and innocent, a few cuffs and a gag. And some of it was dark and heavy when the feather was turned around to a harder point when they were immobilized in a maze of straps and muffled begging of glee for the special brand of 'torture' to end.
Many ponies had their turn under his unicorn magic, and he had been subjected to the same treatment when a level of trust and rapport was built. While both sides never expected to have a release of pent up energy, but it did happen sometimes and was made better by the stretching of leather bonds and rope. Most of the time it was for the experience of bondage itself that was enough.
Equestria had a bit of a set in stone time table when it came to the perversions he offered. The world had shed off it's cloak of winter just over two months ago, ushering in the warmer weather. With the harsher weather behind them, every pony's body began to wake up with the rest of the world. It was the best time of the year for mares to conceive safely without threat of the weather putting them and their child in danger.
Without the cold of winter chilling their bones, the mares began to come in season. Any mare would turn heads when walking down the street, the stallions turning to the side as to not expose themselves as much to any-pony else looking in their direction. Every other week until the end of summer this would happen, mares would cycle into heat and the stallions would bend over backwards for them.
It was throughout the late spring and summer when Flicker's 'underground' gatherings saw an influx of ponies. Most of them were the regular ones, who had sold his wares to, but there were always fresh meat. They were drawn in to satiate their needs, but were not fully aware of what this tpye of 'club' entailed. Most were confused beyond words when they were presented with a restrained pony, or they themselves were tied down. But this was all soon just a minor annoyance to put up with as their pleasure was pulled from their nether, sometimes immediately, sometimes over the course of several hours.
In any case, the ponies that came to the meetings left sexually drained and satisfied. Most of the happenings here were taboo to the outside society. No questions were asked, no pony had to take a special oath to another pony they partook of. This wasn't a secret brothel, as there was no coins that changed hooves, but merely exploration beyond simple sexual needs. The only strings attached could be unlocked later on during the night.
In the past few years, Flicker was able to participate to his heart's content in the activities, but as with any group that began to gain a bit of popularity he had spent all of last year trying to keep out the riff-raff. The ponies that weren't there to participate, to give something to this group. The ones that just wanted to take, only for their own pleasure. It ran him ragged and wanting. As the weather started to cool, along with sexual tendencies, he had completely missed a chance to relieve himself. Though he was still full, engaging in sexual activities outside the season wasn't worth the trouble, as it's pleasure was severely lessened.
Now that it was time again, his need hit him nearly triple-fold. An unbearable weight hung between his legs. The constant pressure begging him to find some-pony to bury himself in and be done with the urge, empty all the burden he was carrying. Going an entire year without it began to drive him to do something he didn't want to do.
Flicker shook his head and cleared the thought from his mind, needing to suppress it for just a few more days. In just that length of time the large basement he had built would be full of ponies and the mind numbing estrous . He'd be able to get the rut he needed out of his system. Hopefully that pressure lingering between his flank would stay quiet until then.
The day was coming to a close. The new leather was cut into strips and placed in each length's assigned pegs on the wall. The rings and metal studding decorations were all sorted out, the extras put away in wooden boxes. The scrying knives, punches and chisels were back in his saddle pouches and floated to the workbench in a haze of light pink toned magic. Everything was as it should be, ready for a new day's work.
Flicker reached out with his magic and let the ties for the curtains on the windows loose, sending the shop into a dim light with just the wide wooden door to guide him out. He exited the building and shut the door. No pony needed locks on anything in Equestria. Well, he knew better than that, SOME things needed to be locked.
He was about to head off home when a Pegasus flapped down from overhead. A tan, winged mare with a tight military style mane-cut and a grey shirt carrying a saddlebag with an envelope protruding from it landed in front of him.
"You have a letter." she grunted roughly, and retrieved the tri-folded piece of paper from her nearly empty bags. She held the corner of it between her teeth delicately and faced it towards the unicorn.
Flicker levitated it gently from her grasp and held it in front of him.
"Oh, thank you." he said. "Have a nice evening!" he waved a hoof at the mare who had lifted off once the parchment left her muzzle.
"Okay." she growled back without looking over her shoulder.
Flicker thought for a second as to the reason she was so callous, but as her wings flapped a gust of air in his direction, a creeping tingle ran through his nose and he realized why. She had just ended one of her many heat cycles this year and wanted nothing to do with stallions for a few more days.
He turned his attention to the letter floating near his head and studied the wax seal holding the parchment flaps together. Pressed into the wax was a twelve pointed star, not a signet he recognized, but the fact that it was sealed meant a great deal. Envelopes sufficed for the normal populace in Equestria, the wax meant that it was from a higher ranking than normal pony.
Flicker almost didn't want to open the letter. Perhaps some pony had loose lips and talked about the gatherings he had. This may have been a summons to court, or a cease and desist order. Even a request to turn himself in and face judgement.
Now trembling with fear he pulled the wax pile from the two edges and opened to read the text. He swallowed hard when he read his name as the opening header.
Dear Flicker Feather,
I have heard a great number of rumors about the various services you offer to the ponies of Canterlot. I have heard other ponies praise your leather work in regards to tack and accessories. I would like to offer you my thanks as ponies all over Equestria are having an easier time in their day to day affairs. Apple Jack and Big Mac would like to send their personal thanks in addition to mine. Your ingenuity has made Equestria more comfortable.
I would like to ask to speak with you personally on this matter, as I feel that such hard work should be rewarded. We can also speak face to face on a personal level about the other leather works you make, as their use greatly interests me.
At your leisure, I would love to have you visit me at the Golden Oaks library in Ponyville. I am generally there from mid-day to dusk. If I am not in at the time, any-pony can point you in my direction.
Princess Twilight Sparkle
It was a letter from Princess Twilight!
Flicker's head began to spin in dis-belief. He never remembered making a harness for Applejack or her brother, as a well known pony as her would be a meeting one would not forget. It could have been one of the orders made from measurements, as he had plenty of those that get delivered all over Equestria.
But Twilight Sparkle. He didn't deserve any recognition for his work, much less from one of the Princesses. She wanted to speak with him face to face as well. And she knew about his other uses for leather, which sounded like a detriment to a visit there.
With the fear of being discovered negated, and the nagging doubt that Twilight had other motives for this meeting suppressed by the fact that he was going to meet her. His better judgement was being suppressed by the fact that he was star struck from Twilight's request.
Flicker wanted to leave immediately, pack a saddlebag and hop on the next train to Ponyville. After all, he was off tomorrow, the shop was always closed on Monday. It was completely possible that he could travel a few hours away and be back late tomorrow evening.
No. He shook his head. He was in no position to be around any mare in close quarters in such a state, not that anything would happen. He wouldn't dream of asking a Princess to ease his need. It would be even worse than the first time he had bound himself up at the request of a mare years ago.
The very though of that brought a redness to his cheeks. He had been very green and that mare had broken him, both mentally and physically. And he liked that, the feeling of being utterly helpless, and making others feel the same.
Flicker shook his head again. He was in the middle of the street, making his sexual tension push to the front of his mind again. He clamped his rear haunches together tightly to stifle his chocolate colored erection from slipping from it's sheath any further. Regardless of what decision he made on this matter, he needed to get home. The embarrassment of walking through Canterlot proper, slapping his stomach with an erection as he trotted home wasn't something he needed right now. The feeling passed as he clenched tighter and was soon on his way home.
Once in his house Flicker turned on the bath, as an unintended side effect from his denied need was that any erection tended to leak a generous amount of fluid. All the way back to his house he felt the slick fur between his thighs, driving at him as a constant reminder that it was a problem he needed to sort out. Just a few more days.
The unicorn drew water for a bath and carefully slipped inside, the warm water was relaxing and instantly felt cleaner as the liquid washed away his own. As the warmth sunk in around his testicles his erection began to grow again. This time it was all-right, because he was in the safety of his own home.
Flicker didn't touch his member, merely let it throb in the heat of the water, it was confused, drawn out by the heat of the bath. It was warm though, felt just like a mare without being inside of her. He just sunk to his neck in the water, letting his cock tip break the surface. Ignoring it's call that he had pushed down for over a year now.
Though it was the perfect place to take care of it. The bathroom. Easy to clean surfaces for the volume that he was sure would explode from him. A year was a long time, a year of having the scent of mare grinding his hips in public, a year of pressure growing to the point where he felt as if he needed to used the toilet, only having false alarm after false alarm from a swolen prostate. It became tedious to deal with.
After a half hour he emerged from the tub, still aroused as the water was more than a welcoming host for his length and girth. Flicker carefully toweled himself off, staying away from the tender shaft between his legs. Avoiding pleasuring himself made everything feel a hundred times more sensitive. Even knocking the head against his leg sent a shiver through his body, a call to what he could be doing with it. A call that would land of deaf ears for now.
Flicker poured a glass of cold juice from the icebox and sipped it down slowly. Perhaps he should leave tonight, as Twilight's invitation was at most a day old. If he waited for too long, the offer may be rescinded. That and the text had been written with a sense of urgency. The notes for repairs over the years had taught him that haste was a must with some of them.
What would he take?
Twilight had made mention of his other crafting skills, and how she was curious about their uses. Was it that she was wanting something made for herself? To have one of the Royal Princesses wearing some of his 'feather tight' harnesses, that would be something to see, especially on Twilight.
Yes yes, he should go to see her. Whatever came of his visit would be done. Flicker didn't expect anything to come of this, it was unlikely that Twilight would initiate anything with him. He was just a unicorn from Canterlot that made leather wares and she was a Princess. Royalty who's lineage brought privilege and respect, not any-pony to even have these thoughts about.
It was the weight getting to him, the need surfacing whenever attention was turned towards any mare. He stayed in the kitchen for a little while longer, letting his attention wander away from the thought. All the blood driving his urge retreated without stimulation, back to the smooth sheath flanked by two engorged testicles. Flicker was afraid that he wouldn't last the week without jumping on the first mare he saw.
The evening was getting late. Luna had already brought the moon to full bear and was now watching over the Equestrian night. If he was to arrive in Ponyville to meet Twilight's request, he would have to leave rather soon. The trains from Canterlot was on it's last run to the town. It was several hundred miles and as exhausted as Flicker felt, sleep on the train would be nice.
The unicorn settled on a small saddlebag, with enough space for a day's worth of meals, water and a few bits. There wasn't much need for any of that, Equestria was ripe with food. But a package of dried fruits and a canteen of sweet water was better than the light snacks they had on the train.
Flicker blew out the few lit candles around his house, silenced the spells of illumination that spread light were the candles were lacking. He closed the front door and headed off to the station with a fast gallop, he would need the extra speed to arrive in time.
Flicker Feather made the train and made his way to the sleeping car. It would be a full six hours before he arrived in Ponyville. The bunk he chose was warm from the heating system running through the car and let the slow rumble of the swaying train rock him into a peaceful sleep.
Flicker was jarred from the rest he was enjoying by the teeth rattling shrill of the train's horn. It seemed unnecessary that it blast it's ear splitting tone this early in the morning. It was probably for the best, or he would have slept on the train long enough to wind up in Las Pegasus. Then the rest of the day would have been spent backtracking to Ponyville.
The orange unicorn pushed the covers off and rolled from the bed to stretch on the still floor of the cabin. He moved to the mirror that sat above the sink and turned the faucet on. His muzzle turned into a frown as he realized that his hair brush was back in his bathroom, just an oversight that was inconvenient. Instead he pushed the pillow smothered mane forward, getting to look in the general shape it normally was. After a small grunt passed through his lips at the image of a bum staring back through the mirror, he drank greedily from the filled sink before collecting the saddle bag and moving off the train.
Outside the car he felt the sun hit him. No pony talked about the weather generally. Those who traveled knew about the climate variations in the places around Equestria. Canterlot was more North than anything else, sharing a temperate weather that Flicker had grown accustomed to. Ponyville, on the other hoof, was more South, carrying a mildly humid feel to the air that was paired with warmer weather. It would explain as to why there were so few fruit bearing trees in his home city. Ponyville had the perfect soil and climate to grow the abundance of food it did.
The station was wrapped around the west side of the town, the tracks continuing down south to Apaloosa and Dodge Junction, or more Westerly towards Las-Pegasus. It was a bit of a trot to Town Hall from his location, but Flicker's destination was just a few minutes south of the station. Golden Oaks Library, where Twilight was.
The Station was busy, Flicker felt as if he had stepped into a war zone. Streams of ponies began to exit and enter the train. Sharply dressed attendants began to remove the luggage from the undercarriage storage. The noise level was almost unbearable, hundreds of voices clamoring over each other to have a conversation. Harder shouts were called from the workers that filled the coal car, refilled the water supply in the engine and loaded the box cars with the produce from the farms surrounding the area. Steam hissed loudly from boiler and release valves, tainting the air with the smell of oily water.
The unicorn was glad to leave the audio cesspool behind him. The streets were much more sedate with the normal hoof clops and low conversations of the ponies going about town. The occasional wooden clatter of a wagon or drawn cart squeaked on by, but still much easier on the ears.
It wasn't but a few minutes before he stood before the sight of the library. A gigantic oak tree who's insides were large enough to hold the literature repository of an entire bustling town along with ample living space for a pony. An Alicorn none the less.
The massive limbs spread out across the sky, shadowing the entire west side of the town in it's sheer size. The thick trunk was dotted with windows, the curtain open so that enough light was let in for easy browsing.
Flicker approached the heavy wooden door that hung open. Anywhere else it would have felt odd walking into a home without knocking first, but this was a library as well. Once inside the feeling of being a trespasser left. Amongst the carved shelves were several other ponies browsing the sorted books.
He search for Twilight was short lived, as she had found him first.
"You came!" the Alicorn called out, fluttering delicately from the open second story above him.
"Oh yes. I got your letter and, yea, I'm here."
Seeing her wings full spread as she gently touched the ground with all the grace of a feathery cloud made Flicker realize who he was coming to see. The magnitude of the situation just now bearing it's full weight upon him.
"So soon as well, I wish I had more time to prepare." Twilight said, her voice dropping from the previous enthusiastic tone to mild one.
"To prepare for?" Flicker asked, drawing back a step. It felt like intruding, as if he walked in on his birthday party while the cake was still on it's way and the decorations had not yet been pulled from their boxes.
"I can make do with what I have. You are the most important part after all." she grinned.
"Oh, I'm no-pony special. I just make harnesses and tack. Nothing special, really." Flicker kicked a hoof on the ground, feeling ashamed at the attention he was receiving.
"We should go talk somewhere else. Where no pony can come and bother us. Then we can talk about your work." Twilight said, motioning a hoof towards a doorway in the main library floor.
"Oh. All-right. Anywhere I can set my saddlebag?" Flicker asked. The conversation seemed pretty sedate. No need for alarm. If anything it was a bit fast paced for his liking.
"There is plenty of space downstairs." Twilight opened the door and nodded that he was to go first.
After several seconds his eyes adjusted to the lower light level. Stretching down before him was a staircase that wound around a central wooden support shaft. It descended down quite a depth, eventually leveling off into a large room after a dizzying amount of turns.
The room was empty aside from three doors on each wall facing the center. They were labeled "Laboratory", "Restoration/Storage" and "Private". Clearly they were headed towards the private one, as Twilight sidestepped and again opened the door for him to progress.
This door led down a long corridor of stone, terminating in yet another door. The door facing him was locked, as no handle was present, only a keyhole set in the center of the door.
The Alicorn princess materialized a cloud of magic and shaped it into a key. Clever, a lock that was physical that required a key of magic to open.
A question began eating at the back of Flicker's mind. Just how deep was this room? It was already secluded enough so that any-pony not looking for it would never find it, but what would warrant such a peculiar lock?
The room was revealed, it was merely two couches with a table in the center flanked by three stone walls. The fourth wall facing the door had a red velvet curtain that spread it's entire length and height. A glancing look at the books stacked on the table revealed that some-pony had been interested in wood and metal working.
"Now," Twilight started, "I have been interested in your skills for quite a while now." She climbed on the couch to the left and faced towards the other one.
"Oh. It's nothing really. Just doing what I am skilled at. Leather work is sort of a passion of mine." Flicker removed his saddlebags, setting them on the floor and followed Twilight's lead, sitting on the opposing couch.
He was trying not to get ahead of himself. Perhaps she didn't know, and this was just an honest conversation about skilled craftsponyship. The unicorn wanted to gloat, proclaiming that his works were the best. To impress Twilight with his intimate knowledge of his skill.
"No, I am talking about something completely different. I'm talking in regards to the gatherings you hold in your house. Your basement."
"Uh..." Flicker had been caught completely off guard by this. There was no permanent detriment to any-pony knowing, just that he had tried to be as clandestine as possible. If anything was in the light publicly, it would be bad. Not because of embarrassment, but rather protection. What he did was not something that should be common knowledge, but rather sought out when a pony was of age to understand the how and why of his actions. If it were to become knowledge every-pony knew, young sensitive ears may hear of it.
"What... what did you want to know?" He swallowed hard. This conversation had just become officially unhinged.
Twilight's eye lit up with a passion.
"I want to know everything. What you do, what you use. Perhaps most importantly, I want you to show me." she grinned in anticipation.
"You want me to do the things I do with other ponies... to you?"
"No, not at all! I wanted to learn to do things as you do. Learn the art of restraining other ponies, use it on you."
Flicker had to fight his maw from dropping open. He had to fight standing up on the couch, throwing his front hooves open wide and his head back. Fight the urge to crack a massive grin and yell out 'Take me! I will be your play thing!' He instead perked his ears up to full attention.
"I can show you some basics at the least."
"Great, when can we get started?" Twilight asked, clopping her two front hooves together in delight. She turned her head towards the velvet curtain and pushed it along the top legnth of the rod spanning the room with a bit of magic.
At first what seemed like a wall's decrepit face being brightened with a curtain, but the truth was that it hid much more than a blank wall. It was hiding an entire section of the room. The light cast from the candles inside the smaller portion only illuminated a portion of the larger area. The shadows it cast were another surprise. There were several stacks of lumber, topped with hoof tools for cutting, shaping and crafting them into furniture.
Twilight raised her head and magic cast itself off of her horn, striking several crystals along the wall with her aura. The crystals flickered several times until they catalyzed and became shining lights. The room revealed it's true face only then.
The walls were carved into flat faces, polished and gleaming. Aside from the wrought iron cages that held the crystals the wall was dotted with metal plates roughly the size of a hoof. Below each was a small pile of metal rings, meant to be affixed to the plates at a later date. Sitting in the rear of the room were several pieces of wood that had been carved down and assembled to resemble furniture. This furniture was odd, not something any-pony would ever see.

It bubbled up as he began to scrub her coat, using soft and gentle strokes. She closed her eyes and let the lightweight bristles clean out all of the pleasure, though enjoying the physical sensation of having some-pony else rub her down.
"Why did you pick me?" Flicker asked, as a passing question that was meant to be fluffy conversation. "I'm not really what you would call a prize catch."
Her face flushed red, and cracked a tiny smile.
"I think you are cute..." she trailed off, turning her head to the side, ear folded flat in embarrassment.
"You aren't that superficial are you?" The stallion asked in surprise. It was true that he had seen his share of beautiful mares, and some that looked like a grizzled Timber Wolf, but he gave both kinds the same treatment in his secret room. He brushed some soap down into her whetted tail, straitening the wiry hairs that wouldn't stay in line without it.
"No. You have a way with ponies. Always giving them what they came for. You can make them smile, laugh and break them in a sense that feels good. Help that reach places they couldn't without you. I have watched you give and give, rarely ever receiving in return. If you know my friends, I like to surround myself with ponies that know there is more to life than taking." She explained, faking that she was cleaning her hoof on the brush on the floor instead of making eye contact.
"You're smitten with me, it's blatant." He blurted out. Not the best thing to do, but he had seen this kind of 'love' before. A pony falling in love with the trappings, quite literally, of life. He finished her tail and began to gently scrub up from her rear hooves, drawing the brush slower and slower as to not touch her inappropriately. That kind of thing stopped at the exit of the room.
"No, not at all. Perhaps... Just a bit... Maybe a little bit." she rambled.
"Hey," he stopped brushing her flank and took his hoof to her chin, raising her head up to look directly at him. "What happens in rooms like those, is in a sense, just business. A relationship based upon fetishes and kinks is not one I, or you, should want to be in. They tend to expire quickly when one of the ponies finds some-pony new to restrain them in different ways. If you want me to be a Fettered Friend Forever, then I can. But you need to learn that what happens in those rooms, mine or yours, that it is a gesture to relieve stress of both parties. Yes it's fun and there can be some honest attachment, but outside and now, I am a craftspony and you are Princess of books or friendship. It's not an easy thing, separating yourself from the feelings, and this seems harsh, but it is for the best.
"I can let you get to know me on a ponysonal level if you would like and we can go from there." Flicker nodded to her, and Twilight nodded back. He went back to carefully removing the fun they from her flank with suds and the brush.
"Are you angry with me?" She asked.
"No, not at all. Just trying to clear the air. I have seen this type of thing before, and I have even fallen into it's trap before. It hurts, and I am trying to avoid you getting hurt in the same way."
Twilight nodded, sniffling a bit. He was right, and she needed to refrain from acting as if they were a pair. Though deep down inside she wanted to say all of the things she thought would never cross her mind. Things of love.
Flicker had finished with cleaning Twilight and began to quickly scrub over himself with thick lather, remembering to take the time to clean his sheath and bits properly. There was nothing worse than a few hours of nastiness down there that wasn't properly sorted and soaped.
Twilight had left the shower, and began to towel herself off with her hooves and straighten her mane and tail back to how they usually laid. Flicker wasn't far behind, running a comb at breakneck speeds down his tail and over his mane. It was the reason why he always had a bedraggled hairstyle, he never spent time shaping it like any other pony.
"How about that lunch? Maybe some desert at Sugar Cube Corner afterwards?" Flicker asked softly, as Twilight seemed distant.
"Yes. We can fluff talk too, about whatever." Twilight nodded.
"Then let's head off!" Flicker said, a massive grin on his muzzle and tail swishing from side to side.
