This Really is how Foals are Made
A pink earth pony mare with a curly mane and tail of a darker shade of pink stood over a white stove, dressed in a white apron and white boots. She studiously eyed through the glass of the stove and watched as the batter in a pan rose and hardened into a fluffy mass.
She slowly moved her hoof over to the black handle and pulled on it. As the door opened, hot air seeped out of the oven, revealing a green cake that was covered with nuts and retained a perfect shade of brown on the sides. With quick speed, she pulled the pan out of the oven and placed it on a nearby rack.
Dashing towards the table seated two cream-coated foals, a pegasus colt with a brown mane and tail and a unicorn filly with an orange mane and tail, she grasped a bag filled with light green frosting. The steam around the pan dissipated. She grasped the pan and slid the cake onto a plate. With frosting in hoof, she coated the entire cake with the sweet confection. With a sleight of hoof, green nuts topped the cake.
“And done!” She happily and proudly announced. She pulled four candles out of nowhere and placed it inside the cake. She placed the cake in front of the two foals. “Happy 4th Birthday Pumpkin Cake and Pound Cake! I know how much you two like Pistachio.” With these words, large grins from Pumpkin Cake and Pound Cake were triggered instantaneously.
“Thank you Pinkie Pie!” Pumpkin Cake exclaimed.
“Outside of mom and dad, you’re the best!” Pound Cake stated. A soft smile came upon Pinkie Pie’s face as she saw the foals generously eat a slice of cake together.
“They’re both such adorable angels… Seeing them grow up into such healthy and happy ponies, it makes me wish I had foals of my own.” She thought to herself. From beyond the door, a blue-coated earth pony mare with a swirled pink and magenta mane walked into the kitchen along with a yellow-coated earth pony stallion with an orange mane. She turned back towards the couple, smiled and waved. “Hiya Mr. and Mrs. Cake! I made Pound Cake and Pumpkin Cake’s birthday cake just like I Pinkie Promised!”
“Thank you for baking our children’s birthday cake Pinkie. We’ve been so busy all morning with the breakfast rush that we didn’t have the time to begin preparing a cake for them.” Carrot Cake gratefully stated between breaths.
“We know that you have your branch of the Sugarcube Corner to manage, so it really means a lot to us that you took time out of your busy schedule to do such a wonderful thing for us.” Cup Cake happily agreed.
“Awww, it’s no problem. What’s a birthday without cake? A lame birthday, that’s what.” Pinkie Pie stated. “Pokey Pierce is surprisingly good at holding up the front and the back of the house. He’s the reason I could keep my promise to you two.”
“Speaking of him Pinkie, aren’t you engaged to marry him next week?” Carrot Cake asked. Pinkie Pie’s eyes widened and a shrill gasp escaped her mouth.
“You’re right! That reminds me; I have something important to tell him! Bye Mr. Cake, bye Mrs. Cake, bye Pound Cake, bye Pumpkin Cake!” She waved with a large smile before she dashed out of the kitchen into town. Cup Cake and Carrot Cake spent a few seconds staring at where Pinkie Pie stood.
“Mom, dad, we have cake. Want some?” Pumpkin Cake politely asked. Pound Cake’s face was caked in frosting.
“This pistachio cake is so good! Have some please.” He energetically requested. Carrot Cake and Cup Cake glanced towards, smiled and sat down on the table.
“Awww what the heck? The two of us can use a break and spend time with the two of you.” Cup Cake replied while Carrot Cake and she sat down in seats around the table.
A navy blue-coated unicorn stallion with a silver-blue coifed mane and tail sat down on a chair. Looking upon the ponies seated in their seats talking cheerfully, he grasped a cup filled with light-brown liquid with cinnamon sprinkled in a swirl. He took a sip, sighing contently from the sweet liquid.
“Business is booming and nothing like a cup of cinnamon-spiced tea to energize the soul.” He blissfully stated. He took another sip of his beverage and suddenly found Pinkie Pie sitting in the seat across him.
“Hi Pokey!” She shouted at room level. Pokey Pierce spit the tea in his mouth onto the table.
“Please don’t startle me like that again Pinkie.” He stated with a frown on his face. Pinkie Pie leaned her head over the table and planted a kiss on Pokey Pierce’s cheek.
“Hehe, sorry about that. I got caught up in the moment.” She sheepishly stated with a blush. Pokey Pierce smiled and leaned over the table, kissing Pinkie Pie on her cheek.
“So how was that cake you baked for the Cake twins’ birthday? Knowing you, you probably baked the most wonderful cake for them and their parents.”
“Yep! When somepony asks me for something I can do, then I will give it one hundred-NO WAIT! One-hundred and fifty percent!” Pinkie Pie energetically replied. Pokey Pierce smiled softly as he looked into Pinkie Pie’s blue eyes.
“That positive energy you have is the reason why I fell in love with you in the first place Pinkie.” In response to his words, Pinkie Pie’s eyes widened.
“Now I remember why I came over here. I was so super-duper excited about something I wanted to tell you about!”
“I’m excited to hear anything you have for words Pinkie.” Pokey Pierce stated as he sipped his tea.
“I want to have a foal of my own!” At the moment these words passed her lips, Pokey Pierce’s golden irises dilated towards miniscule levels and his eye lids widened farther than a large gorge. Tea stuck itself inside of his throat. He coughed loudly, trying to remove the foreign substance from his system. “Are you okay?!” Pinkie Pie asked worriedly, rushing by his side.
“I’m… fine Pinkie.” Pokey Pierce responded. “I can’t say I was expecting those words to come out of your mouth right now. Isn’t it a little bit early for us to be worrying about having foals of our own Pinkie?” Pinkie Pie innocently closed her eyes and confidently smiled.
“Nope. I have funds saved up in case of any emergency for our foal, so we can have one at any time.”
“That’s great and all but I have been meaning to ask; are we mentally prepared to have a foal right now? This seems like something you decided on impulse.” Pokey Pierce questioned.
“Of course we are silly. You would make a great father! After all, you love me and I love you, so a foal should appear soon right?” Pinkie Pie questioned. Pokey Pierce’s breaths quickened and the couple was surrounded by an awkward silence.
“It isn’t just through emotional love that a foal appears Pinkie. It’s a bit more… physical than that.” He stated nervously, his cheeks blushing into a mad red. Pinkie Pie lifted an eye.
“Why are you redder than a cherry right now, Pokey?” She asked curiously. Pokey Pierce hesitantly gulped on air.
“Well… you see P-P-P-Pinkie, when a mare and a stallion love each other v-v-v-very much and want a foal, they have… sex.” He sheepishly uttered out. Pinkie Pie cocked her head with a smile.
“I didn’t get that. So what do a mare and a stallion do when they want to have a foal?” She pressed. Pokey Pierce visibly sweated. He felt his heart beating out of his chest, wanting to be liberated from his awkward feelings. He retained some composure and calmed down.
“You see, mares and stallions are alike, yet different in their physicality. The major difference is that stallions… have a stick… between their legs… known as… a penis while mares have… a vagina.” His face gradually reddened and his throat clenched on him. Pinkie Pie had a dull expression on her face.
“Boooooring! Geez Pokey, I know you have difficulty spitting it out, but you aren’t making learning engaging for me. Why don’t you just show me instead?” Blissfully ignorant, she suggested. At this point, Pokey Pierce’s eyes rolled over, his body collapsing onto the ground and his consciousness fading away. The last thing he heard was a shrill scream from Pinkie Pie.
Light filled Pokey Pierce’s eyes as he slowly regained consciousness. He felt the soft material of a king-sized bed underneath him. His eyes glanced towards the window and noticed that the moon and stars were out. His mouth dropped.
“Just how long was I out for? And why am I in my bed?” He questioned to himself.
“You were out cold all day.” Pinkie Pie stated with a crestfallen face, walking into the room. Pokey Pierce looked towards her and noticed that her poofy mane was slightly deflated. “I was so worried when you just collapsed onto the ground. I brought you to the hospital first, and then I brought you home after you were okay to leave. I checked up on you every hour to see if you would wake up.” Tears began to culminate underneath her eyes. She ran up towards Pokey Pierce and embraced him by his neck. “I thought you were gone. I can’t lose you, Pokey.” Her words stifled by her tears, she cried on his chest.
“Pinkie…” At a loss for words, Pokey Pierce uttered out. He softly embraced her back and began to rock her. “I’m sorry I gave you a scare like that. It was not my best intentions to do that. I was just so… overwhelmed with anxiety that there was no other option but to faint. Did you have to close our shop because of me?” Somberly, he stated.
“Thankfully, Fluttershy, Applejack, Rarity and Rainbow Dash didn’t have anything important to do today. They worked in our place and gave us their wishes. Were you that nervous about us having foals, Pokey? If you wanted to, we can wait a bit more.” Pinkie Pie stated, her words easing into a regular tone.

“Is there a reason why? Before you passed out, you were saying something about sex being something that mares and stallions would do to have foals.”

“I know, Pinkie. Sooner or later, I have to confront my confidence issues regarding this.” Saying this, he slightly broke from his embrace and looked down towards Pinkie Pie’s face; her tears have dried and her smile became large. “We can… try right now if you want. I want to be able to please you and make you happy.” With a smile, he hesitantly suggested.
“That’s nice and all, but how do we start this?” Pinkie Pie asked.

“It’s alright, Pokey, really. This is something all couples go through, right? I’m sure if those mares can stand and want to be in this position, then I can as well. I would do this especially for you because I love you.” Pinkie Pie joyously replied, a smile appearing on her face once more. Pokey Pierce craned his head by Pinkie Pie’s face, a tearful smile on it.
“I was doing what I was doing for you Pinkie Pie. You have the last say in whether we should continue this or not.” He stated, kissing Pinkie Pie on her cheek. She looked back to him with a sheepish smile.
“I still want to keep trying this if you are still up for it. Buuuut, if it’s not too much to ask for, do you know of any way to make it not feel so weird for me?” She asked.
“Some of my friends said that gently nibbling the ear is a good way to distract from the initial penetration. We can always try that.” Pokey Pierce suggested hesitantly. I probably shouldn’t have done such a rigorous activity after recovering from my shock.” With these words, he brought his face close towards Pinkie Pie’s face and nuzzled her affectionately. “I love you with all of my heart, Pinkie. I’m glad that I was able to make you happy tonight.”
A happy giggle came from Pinkie Pie’s mouth as she nuzzled him back more energetically.
“I love you too, Pokey. I’m glad that I was able to make you feel like a confident stallion tonight.” With these words, both Pinkie Pie and Pokey Pierce’s eyes grew heavier until they could no longer keep them open.
Pokey Pierce stood behind a counter, observing all of the customers in the restaurant. He had an uneasy smile on his face. He looked towards a framed photo on a counter, depicting him in a black tuxedo top and Pinkie Pie in a white bridal dress and head gear. The both of them had large, open smiles on their face. His uneasiness melted away, bringing forth a brighter form of his smile.
“That was a wonderful wedding last week. That was the happiest the two of us have ever been. I’m sure Pinkie Pie is just fine… I hope. She seemed very dizzy when she woke up this morning.”
In the middle of his words, an orange-brown-coated stallion walked through the doors into the bakery. His rough but combed mane and transitioned with black, gray white colors. His most notable feature was his black sunhat. He walked towards Pokey Pierce with a stoic expression on his face. Pokey Pierce felt his throat clench as the stallion eyed him.
“Pokey.” The stallion stated in an old-world tone.
“So how is Pinkie doing, Igneous?” Pokey Pierce asked with a nervous shudder. “I’m so sorry that I couldn’t be with her when she went to the hospital. She demanded that I stay here working and make as many ponies that come inside smile as possible.” Igneous Rock cracked a small smile and patted him on his right shoulder.
“Relax, Pokey. Pinkie Pie’s fine. She’s going to be here any minute with some big news. She just wanted me to go ahead and tell you this.” He stated.
“Well that’s a relief. Thank you for telling me, Igneous.” With a sigh, Pokey Pierce replied.
“If I said it once, I'll say it again; you can be informal around me. I don't want ponies that any of my daughters are with to feel uncomfortable around me. Also, relax a little. Just because you weren’t there for one thing doesn’t mean that everypony is going to persecute you for it.” Igneous Rock added.
“I’ll try, Pa.” Pokey Pierce said, with his tone dipping into a nervous point. Pinkie Pie bounced through the doorway and across the floor.
“Hi, Pokey!” She stated, stretching her neck out to an impossible length towards Pokey Pierce’s direction. Pokey Pierce affectionately nuzzled Pinkie Pie’s nose.
“I’m glad to see you are okay, Pinkie. What did the doctor say?” Pokey Pierce asked.
“That’s the super-duper big news. You might want to sit down on your conveniently-placed stool for this Pokey because what I am going to say is going to make your legs wobble.” As these words passed Pinkie Pie’s mouth, Pokey Pierce looked behind him and batted an eye over the sudden appearance of a wooden stool. He shrugged his shoulders and sat on it.
“So, what is this big news you have, Pinkie?”
Pinkie Pie smiled, stomping energetically in place.
“I’m pregnant!” She announced loudly. Pokey Pierce sat on his stool, speechless and motionless. He shakingly pointed his right front hoof towards her.
“You mean you…-“Pinkie Pie nodded. “-and I…” His nerves froze on him and the stool underneath wobbled. Igneous Rock ran behind the counter and lifted Pokey Pierce by his front legs, just before he fell off.
“Yep! I don’t know if it is a colt or filly or even if it is an earth pony. But, that’s part of the fun in expecting.” Pinkie Pie happily stated. Pokey Pierce stared straight into the ceiling, wide-eyed.
“I’m actually going to be a father… I can’t believe it.” He stated semi-consciously.
“Relax there, boy. I don’t need you fainting two times in one month, and neither does Pinkie. Shocks aren’t good for mothers you know.” Igneous Rock chided. “Still, this is definitely exciting news for everypony.” Smiling, he finished. With a sudden burst of energy, Pokey Pierce bounced off of Igneous Rock and dashed towards Pinkie Pie. He embraced her snugly by the neck, tears falling down from his eyes.
“We have to celebrate. We have to tell all of our friends that we are going to be parents. This is wonderful news!” He happily cried out. Pinkie Pie’s smile softened. She patted Pokey Pierce’s back with her right hoof and leaned her face next to his. In the background, Igneous Rock smiled at the sight of the couple.
“It’s just like how your mother and I were when she had you, Pinkie. That’s good. I am going to be a grandfather. That’s good. They have the foundation to be their own happy, crazy family. That’s what I’m most glad about.” Thinking to himself, his left eye watered a bit. A single tear dropped from it. With a content smile, he quietly walked out of the bakery.

Well, this was an interesting turn of events. Even if this would end up being that member of my family no one wants to associate with, I'm glad that this idea didn't die.
