Chapter One
My head throbs painfully. Boom. Boom. Boom. My hazel eyes open slowly, giving me clear vision of my surroundings. Trees. The moon shimmers in the dark sky. I shakily stand on my hooves, I am weak. "What happened to me?" I rub my scarred eye. The snap of a stick brings me to my senses. A deep voice replies from the night. "You don't remember?" I spin around and am staring at a dark figure. "Who are you?" The pony reaches into a saddlebag and pulls out a blue potion. "Take this when you want to know." They leave it on the ground in front of me. "You didn't answer my question!" They stop and turn, slowly walking into the moonlight. "If I showed you, you'd be afraid." I chuckle. "I've probably seen much worse." The mystery pony steps into the clearing, and I get a clear look at her. She is tall, her coat a dark black. Her mane has holes in it, as well as her legs. She has pointed teeth, and her wings have a slight green hue, and her eyes are insect like. Actually, ALL of her is insect like. "I am Queen Chrysalis." I bow on a shaking knee. "Shadow Moon." She grins. "I will escort you into the nearest town." She turns to trot away, and I stop her. "That's nice of you, but I can find my way from here." She smiles. "Alright. As you wish." And the changeling queen vanished in an aura of bright green. I gallop into the woods, not sure where to go. I reach a cliff, and stand, letting the cool night air blow my mane. A sudden crash of thunder scares me, and I'm falling. I try to use magic to teleport back up, but it's too far. Suddenly, I am floating over the clouds, just hovering. With a quick glance at my back, I notice something amazing. I have sprouted wings. I am an alicorn.
