Pinkie Pie's day is perfectly normal and she starts it with her signature cupcake breakfast in Sugarcube Corner. She has a huge variety, from chocolate to rainbow. She decides to eat all, and her day starts to get interesting when Derpy happens to see her eat a BLUEBERRY CUPCAKE.

The Muffin and the Cupcake

Pinkie Pie is a party pony, actually, the bestest of the best party pony around, perhaps in the whole of Equestria! Her day started out perfectly normal, with her breakfast of a cupcake, also known as her Cupcake Breakfast. Little does she know what lies ahead of her…

“Hmm, chocolate, blueberry, strawberry, or… hmmm…” Pinkie stared at the array of colourful cupcakes until her eyes rested on a rainbow coloured cupcake with rainbow sprinkles. But her head whipped back to the first chocolate cupcake. “Choices, choices, choices…” Pinkie Pie sang before shaking her head. “Argh! That’s it! I’ll be eating all! Hehe! There we go! No more choices for me! This is so much fun!” She slowly licked the chocolate icing off the chocolate cupcake before proceeding to gobble the ‘cake’ part of ‘cupcake’ up greedily. “Mmmhmm…” she purred, savouring the taste of the chocoalte in her mouth.

As she reached toward the blueberry muffin, she stared at it closely, thinking that there was something weird with it. “Hmmm…” she said, staring at the cupcake. However, she was not able to place her hoof on it. Was it that there was too much icing? No, there can never be too much sugar on anything. Was there too little icing? No, it seemed about just right, just the way I like it! Maybe it wasn't the cupcake! Cupcakes can never be wrong, ever! “Argh! Whatever!” And she gobbled it up, licking her chops as she did so. “Ahh… So much better” she cooed, rubbing her belly contentedly as she burped.

What she did not know was that Derpy, the walleyed pegasus mailmare of Ponyville, was just about to enter Sugarcube Corner when she saw Pinkie eating the Blueberry cupcake. Seeing Pinkie do that just made her blood boil. She backed away from the entrance as she flapped her wings and silently flew back to her warm home. It was disrespect to muffins. For the love of blueberry muffins, how could there possibly be blueberry cupcakes?? Knowing she would not dare to confront Pinkie on this matter straight to her face, Derpy sat down and started to write the fluffy pink party pony a letter:

Dear Pinkie Pie,

This letter is regarding you eating a blueberry cupcake. I would understand why you would like to eat a blueberry MUFFIN, but a blueberry CUPCAKE is just too much. It is a total disrespect to muffins and I have attached a copy of The History of Muffins for your reference. It states that blueberry muffins came about a century before cupcakes were even given a thought. Therefore, I would request that you stop selling blueberry cupcakes as that is just blasphemy.

Suddenly, "Ding! Ding!" was heard. Derpy shook her head as she headed straight for her oatmeal muffins. They turned out great! Maybe she would share them with Pinkie Pie! No wait, she disrespected muffins and she doesn't deserve these delicious treats. Derpy shook her head and stomped away. But hey! Maybe she would take down the blueberry cupcake! Then Derpy would be able to give Pinkie a muffin! Heh! Hope that happens!

Derpy rolled up the scroll in her teeth as placed in in the bag of mail she was about to give out…

Pinkie Pie hopped about as usual, her mane as bouncy as always, singing her trademark song, the Smile Song, as she made her way around Ponyville. She was preparing for a party for Twilight – it had been exactly 1 year since she arrived in Ponyville and the time was ripe for yet another party. Oh, it is going to be AWESOME! As she skipped back to Sugarcube Corner, she could not help but notice that a letter was sticking out of her mailbox. Eh? Who could this be from? She wondered, taking the letter in her teeth and trotting upstairs. Ooh! This is from Derpy! Is she selling more muffins? That would be great! However, as she read through the letter, her eyes popped out a her sockets as her face grew as red as a ripe tomato.

“HOW DARE SHE! WHO CAN NOT LIKE CUPCAKES?! ESPECIALLY BLUEBERRY ONES?!”

Pinkie Pie was astounded as she screamed out her frustrations. Smoke was seen streaming out of her ears as she crumpled the letter and threw it into the bushes. It was impossible. Reading through the book Derpy had attached, she found it hard to be deemed true. She grabbed her own copy of Cupcakes -- A History and flipped through it. There, it clear bold, it stated:

Cupcakes are the pioneers of all sorts of desserts, including the famed MUFFINS. This study was carried out in 1001. The study was further studied by the famed Pounding Cake of Trottingham in 1111. He had proclaimed it 101% true! Further studies have also made it seem as though it is true. Therefore, it is very safe to say that cupcakes definitely came before muffins. A debate was also held in 1601 and the judge believed too that cupcakes came before muffins.

Pinkie Pie was going to confront that Derpy face to face and get what was truly hers to hold true! Grabbing her fake moustache, she trotted off to give Derpy a talking to!

Derpy could not stop thinking about what Pinkie had done which had violated the Muffin Code. She should really take down the Blueberry cupcake! Soon, she spotted the pink mare. However, her face was plastered with a frown and she was making her way towards the poor Pegasus.

"DERPY HOOVES! COME HERE THIS INSTANT!"

Derpy flapped her wings and soon landed beside Pinkie. "Yes, Pinkie?" she said innocently.

"Hey! Maybe you got it wrong eh, Derpy!" Pinkie pointed at her copy of Cupcakes -- A History. "It says it is 101% true! So maybe um, you got it wrong or something?"

"Well, I don't think so!" Derpy smiled. "Would you like a muffin?"

"Ooh! Are those oatmeal muffins? Yes please!" Pinkie smiled. "But no, I am not taking down the blueberry cupcake!"

"Why not? My muffin book is definitely correct!" Derpy whined, her voice getting a notch higher.

"How do you know that the Muffin book is correct? Huh? Do you? Do you?" Pinkie stuck pink muzzle right in front of Derpy's eyes.

Soon, an argument (that's not that argument-worthy) broke out between the 2 mares which alerted the Princess Twilight Sparkle. However, despite her best efforts, her magic was unable to penetrate the argument and fight. She needed backup.

"Spike, please take a letter." Spike happily obliged -- this was not somepony to be reckoned with and the situation was starting to get out of hand.

"MUFFINS!!"

"CUPCAKES!"

Ponies were starting to take sides, some on 'Team Cupcake' others on 'Team Muffin'. Oh this was bad, very bad.

This plot is very random, something I came up with like within 5 min so I'm afraid that this is horrible...
