The Everfree Forest has been subject to tales of horror, adventure, and mystery for as long as anypony can remember, yet when asked nopony has any idea where it came from or why. The power that drives the Everfree forest has served as a source of constant rumor and speculation, mystifying foals and adults alike with tales of ancient treasures and evil beings who have made the forest their home.

The truth however, is only known by two ponies. Two ponies so ashamed of their mistakes that they have never told a single soul what they had done, and never revealed to anypony the nightmares they had unleashed.

The only evidence of the truth the remains are the memories of two guilt stricken and terrified ponies, and an ancient logbook titled 'Project Everfree'
