Chapter 5: Safe
Previous Chapter*Fluttershy's P.O.V.*
Mr. Cluck chirped in pain. I know he's a chicken, but he understands me. He missed Scootaloo, like I did.
I told him about Scootaloo finally, and not she was on vacation. I can tell he's aggravated about Twilight killing Scootaloo. I know she was trying to convince me it wasn't her, like she usually does on things. But I ignored her. The DNA said it was a Unicorn. Twilight was originally a Unicorn. So it had to be her.
Angel hasn't talked to me. The only thing he says in his Bunny language is "Scootaloo". I know those two were close. They were like siblings. But now Angel just lays down on his favorite spot on the couch and sleeps. I woke him up for lunch once, but he only took a cucumber slice and ignored the rest. I'm worried about him, but then again I'm worried about myself.
I haven't eaten in what, 5 days? I didn't want to eat. Scootaloo was on my mind every minute of everyday. And you know who killed her? Twilight. I told her everything about Scootaloo. But one thing. I didn't know who Scootaloo's mom was. That one thing bugged me everyday. I never found out who the mare was that gave birth to sweet Scootaloo.
Mr. Cluck went into the Henhouse, and you could hear him clucking in there.
"Candy time!" Scootaloo smiled.
All these memories came to my head. I got emotional from it. But, I know that somehow I will get over this. I know I will. I just have to forget about it.
Candy...
Nightmare Night. Scootaloo was a Vampire.
Chickens...
School. Scootaloo got teased.
Your an idiot.
Scootaloo not working on her homework.
I failed at this game. I have to work more. But then, there was a knock on my door. I looked up. Not waiting for an answer from me, Twilight walked in.
There was a dead silence for a good ten seconds before I stood up. Was Twilight here to talk me into her not doing it!?
"Leave", I yelled, then running to my room. I slammed the door. I fell face first onto my bed, and I cried.
"Fluttershy please", Twilight said through the door, slightly crying. "Let me speak."
"You used me to get to my child, why should I ever?", I cried.
"Fluttershy let me explain. You never let me speak.", Twilight cried. "Please."
"Fine", I said.
"Ever since you had Scootaloo, you never focused on our friendship. It was always Scootaloo, Scootaloo, Scootaloo. You never left your house except for Scootaloo. You could've told us when she came to your door so we could've helped you raise her properly. I thought if Scootaloo left, you would come back to yourself. But clearly I was wrong."
"So you killed my child for your own way to get me outside!?" I yelled. "How could you?" I got up, and opened the door. And in front of me was a crying Twilight.
"I'm sorry Fluttershy", she cried more. "I know you won't forgive me, but at least talk to the other girls. They're worried about you."
And with that, she slowly walked out of my house. But before she closed the door, she left something. She closed the door, and flew away. I ran over and looked at the object and I cried. It was one of Scootaloo's flight feathers. It was a light orange still, and the feathers were pointed. I picked it up, and placed it on the wooden table.
"My only piece of you", I said out loud.
Angel hopped over and climbed on top of the table. He took the feather, and studied it closely. Yes, indeed it was one of Scootaloo's flight feathers. He hugged it, then placed it back on the table. He jumped off the table, and went back to the couch to sleep. I sighed, and went to my room. I kept the door open. I climbed in bed, but I didn't go to sleep. I just laid on my right side and looked at the door to the walk-in closet. Her room.
I turned the other way to get it off my mind, and I went to sleep.
~~
I woke up, and my tears stained my face. I got out of my uncomfortable bed, and sat on a stool. I ate some grass as my breakfast, and I just began thinking. Thinking of what I would do, if Scootaloo came back. If this was just a little trick to get me and I realize that this was just a little aha joke. I wish it really was.
I cried on the inside. I had to get over all of this. I know I raised Scootaloo, but I had to get over a child that I didn't have. Somepony just chose me to raise her. But, that little filly changed my life. I risked everything for her, then she just left. It was my fault she didn't listen. Everything was my fault.
How she didn't listen.
How she died.
How she got made fun of.
All of it was my fault.
I put her into public school, so she was made fun of.
I didn't tell any of my friends of Scootaloo, so she died.
I didn't introduce her to the world, so she didn't listen.
All the ponies were right. I'm a bad parent. I was never able to raise a child. I had one in my hooves, and she slipped away. I know I will never, ever, ever be a parent ever again. I'll stick with animals, that is my talent.
I began crying outside. It was too hard. But, there was a knock on the door. I got up and opened the door. I looked down, and I stared wide-eyed.
"Mom?" Scootaloo asked, staring up.
