The Love of Rainbows

Chapter 10

We were now at Twilight’s house. I totally forgot about that pie she baked me. I wanted to have a piece of it now, since I was starving.

“Hey! Where were you two?” Twilight popped up from one of her books. From the label, it read ‘Human Physics.’. How she got it was beyond me.

“We were.. Just.. Hanging out.” Rainbow winked over at Twi. I knew Twilight had something to do with this.

“Want that pie now, Carl?” Twilight cued the question. I nodded insanely.

The pie flew over to me and I pulled out an already cut piece. I started to nom on it, chewing the delicate apples inside.

“Mmmmm..” Was what I processed through my chews. Dash and Twilight couldn’t help but giggle.
I sat down at the couch, eating my pie, as Twilight and Rainbow went upstairs. I assumed they were going to 'girl-talk' about last night. I could hear everything, though.

"So, what'd you all do last night?" Twilight asked.

"Well.. We.. Did a few pranks.. Then we stared at the moon.. Then we went to the Hay and Stay.. And then we.. Y'know.." I could hear Dash giggling with Twilight.

"Did the spell work for his.. Y'know?" Twilight asked.

"Yeah.. It even lasted until this morning. When we had a bit of.. 'Shower fun'." Rainbow was giggling insanely now. I couldn't help but laugh lightly myself.

As I ate my pie I threw the crust into the dish. I stood up, walking away from their private conversation, and started to browse the books.

"Anatomy of a Pony.. Properties of Matter.. Rainbow Philosophy.. Clouds--.. Wait, what?" I looked back at Rainbow Philosophy. I couldn't help but notice that this was in a song. Weird how it was here though.

"Hope ponies don't kill each other like those Fan fictionists wrote." I said to myself.

I pulled a book out from the shelf to amuse myself. It was labelled 'Chemical formulas'. I always had a thing for chemistry, so, why not?

I flipped through and found some interesting things: The properties of a Rainbow, physical and chemical reactants of lightning striking the ground, et cetera. It was truly fascinating me.

"Enjoying yourself?" Twilight asked as I was flipping through the book.

"Yeah. I liked science.. So.." I put it back on the shelf. Rainbow Dash was nuzzling my side.

"Look, Carl.. Uhm.. I found a spell that can send you back to Earth. If you wish to leave." Twilight had me sit down on the couch. Rainbow Dash wasn't smiling, though. She didn't want me to leave.

"Well.." I thought about it for a couple minutes.

Should I stay here? Leave all my friends, my family, my entire life behind? Everything I knew? All the games I had?.. I was in love with Rainbow Dash. I'm a fifteen year old teenager who loved a Pegasus. It seemed so unlikely that I would be even physically attracted to her. I love her. God damn it, I love her! If my family and friends knew, they would understand.. I think I have made my choice.

"Well.. Now that I .. Had time to think.." Rainbow Dash's ears perked up. She looked like she wasn't ready for the answer.

"I'm..." I looked at Twilight. Even she looked upset if I chose to leave.

"Going to stay." With that, Rainbow Dash jumped on me and started giving me kisses galore.

"Yay!! Carl's staying!" I wrapped my arms tightly around Dashy. I know it felt wrong of me to make this choice. But I was happy here. That's what matters.

"Welcome to your new home then, Carl." Twilight smiled, looking at me with her purple eyes.

"Thanks.. And Dashy.." Dash stopped kissing me for a moment and looked into my eyes.

"I love you. And I don't ever want to stop loving you." I smiled and gave her a warm and gentle kiss on her lips. Everything turned out great for everyone.

Even if I was gone forever from Earth, everyone knew I was in a better place. I am in a better place. A place where I'm happy. Where no one is completely rude. Where everyone works with each other. Well, everypony. It's astonishing. I'm glad I made this choice. Because I was going to live forever in Equestria. And I wouldn't regret a single moment of it.

-Epilogue-

"Carl?" I saw Rainbow Dash enter into the small hut that I was residing.

"Yeah?" I looked at her with glee. It was enjoying to see her everyday. And get the.. little fill of excitement every now and then.

"I just wanted to know how you were doing.. y'know.." She was kicking gently at the wool carpet underneath her.

"Are you sure that's what you're here for..?" I winked gently over at her.

"No, no, not that. I mean.. I'm worried that you miss your--"

"Rainbow Dash, I don't regret anything. I made my choice. I'm not going to leave." I interrupted her. It was slightly rude, but, I felt it necessary.

She just looked at me. Dash put a smile on her face now.

"C'mon, Pinkie Pie and I have a surprise for you." Rainbow Dash quickly grabbed me and we whisked out of my hut and straight into town.

After a couple minutes of rushing, we arrived at Sugar Cube Corner. Rainbow Dash gently poked me inside with her forehooves and as I entered, it was unusually dark. Very unusual for Sugar Cube Corner.

The lights quickly flickered on. And I saw Pinkie Pie jump in front of my face, yelling:

"Surprise! Happy Birthday!"

The room was filled with large, pink, purple and white streamers. The pink and white walls were covered in confetti and had banners with the words: 'Happy Birthday Carl!' on them. It made me smile. I was glad they knew when my birthday was. But it made me think of my family. I hope they're all right back at home. I really do.

"Wait, what? How'd you know my birthday?" I asked, looking around the room.

"Well.. I did some prying. I eventually figured it out." Rainbow Dash was whistling slyly.

"Well, thanks." I said, smiling.

The music was blaring loud. I saw Vinyl Scratch, Unfortunately, I couldn't really look at her properly without getting the image of a bad story I read on FIMfiction -- before I came to Equestria, of course.

"Dear God..." I said. I felt a slight tug on my jeans as I saw Dashy looking up at me.

"C'mon. Let's open up some presents." Dashy smiled. I gladly obliged.

It's been so long since I've last opened one. And anything from my new friends was something great. I loved them so much. They were my new family. How could I not love them? Only.. I felt something was wrong.. Something.. Unbalanced.. Something.. Bah.. Maybe it's nothing.
