Destiny

What do we know? Not enough. We know that hundreds of years ago, Equis, and all the planets neighbouring were experiencing an age of miracles. We know that this was because of the Traveler, when it came it brought knowledge from the stars. Medicine, space travel, infrastructure... Weapons. Ponies, Minotaurs, Griffons, and even Changelings knew an era of peace.

We know that in an instant, just as fast as the Traveler had brought us miracles, something wrought chaos. Vague texts call it the Darkness, but we do not know truly what it is. Some believe it to be a force of morality, and that of physicality. Depicted as a great storm, or a sudden corruption that emerged from within our Golden Age. A heroic Titan, Martyr, argues that the Darkness was an alien juggernaut of war. Incredible, but tangible, power used exclusively to destroy us. Some scholars debate that it is a necessary antonym of the Traveler, like antimatter to matter, it must exist. They believe that when it and the Traveler meet, if they ever do, they will both be annihilated, and leave nothingness behind. Many theories more exist yet. Hive minds, fundamentally incomprehensible powers.

There is one more of note. There are those, who are more often labeled blasphemers than not, that refute that the Darkness exists. They suggest the Traveler was the cause of the Collapse, or that it lead the Darkness to us, hoping we would save it.

Finally we know that the Traveler sacrificed itself, for us. In its dying breath, it cast a shield of Light where it hung in the sky. Beside the ruins of Canterlot, and so we eventually found our way there. Now a City is born, and protected by the Guardians. Ponies appear to be the lone surviving races of the Golden Age, and now we intend to push back. We will not let the Darkness, whatever it is, stamp us out.
