The guy looked like a total cocksucker. Not in a derogatory sense mind you but someone who enjoys performing fellatio. That was the thought that Milo thought as he walked across the marble floors of the grand foyer behind the white stallion with the golden blond mane. If he wasn’t desperate he wouldn’t be here. Such was the life of a college grad.
“What did you say your major was again?” The stallion asked.
“Well Mr. Blueblood. . . “Milo started. “Oh please,” The stallion said, “let’s skip the formalities. Call me Adrian. My father was Mr. Blueblood.” Milo felt a tad nervous and his voice let it show.
Uh, Okay Adrian. My major was video game design. I’m Milo by the way.” Adrian turned and flashed him a coy smile.
“I know. You told me on the phone.” Milo hunched his wings in embarrassment. The awkwardness sunk into him as they made their way to a large living room with two high backed leather chairs. The floor was covered in a plush red carpet that was the shade of blood. As Adrian ushered him to his seat, doubt swirled within Milo’s subconscious like an angry storm.
“So you’re looking to rent a room?” He asked.
“Yes. I saw the ad on the notice board at the gas station near my house, my parent’s house I mean.” Milo said.
“Oh yes, the Speedway on Broadway. One of my tenants said we shout try there. We normally don’t post such things in places where those of ill repute frequent.” Adrian slyly intoned.
“Oh? Where do you usually place them if you don’t mind me asking?” Milo said.
“Gyms mostly. Maybe salons or places that may be involved in some kind of fashionable retail, places that we know we can get quality.” Adrian’s fingers laced themselves together and began to drum themselves on his hands.
“I see.” Milo
“You said you lived with your parents?” Adrian asked his tone reflecting a sense of curiosity.
“Yes, I do but right now I think it’s time I got on my own. Besides, I don’t want to wind up in some dead end job living with mom and dad and bumming money when I screw up.” Milo replied.
“Good for you. I think you’ll do just fine.” Adrian Beamed.
“Are you saying I’m accepted?” Milo questioned.
“Of course, Milo my fine young man,” Adrian exclaimed “Anyone who believes in self-sufficiency and personal responsibility is more than welcome to live here.”
“Well that’s a relief. Still,” Milo said.
“You’re concerned about what you read on the notice? The whole ‘If it’s too good to be true, it probably is’ situation, eh?” Adrian asked. Milo nodded. “My dear Milo, have you not noticed this house? I have plenty of money. My father willed this place to me and I divided my inheritance between stocks and investment accounts. Not to mention I obtained my father’s shares from whatever he invested in during his lifetime.”
“So it is rent free? All I have to do is buy Groceries?” Milo asked.
“And gas as well,” Adrian replied, “I assume you have transportation?” Milo nodded, somehow he felt speechless around this very refined stallion. Adrian stood up.
“Well,” He said, “I think that settles it. Welcome to our little abode Milo.” Adrian grasped the Pegasus’ hand shook it. Milo’s mind was reeling. How could this even be real, he thought, making his way to the car. It was real though, quite real, and little did Milo know that his life would change, whether he liked it or not.

Move in day came and was not as painful as his time in college. Milo’s room occupied a portion of the east wing of the mansion and was furnished like a small apartment. It had a bedroom, complete with a king size bed and a night stand on which was a lamp, a kitchen with a refrigerator sink and stove, a bathroom with a tub/shower combo, toilet and sink with a vanity, and living room that was unfurnished. Milo did not have much to move in, save for his movies, video games, and his books which were not of too high of number to take up too much space. It was when he was trying to move the futon from his dad’s truck to his room that he had his first of many encounters with the other tenants. As Milo and his dad struggled to get up the stairs to get to the east wing, it was then that Milo felt the heavy futon become lighter.
“Here, let me help ya’ll with that.” The voice said. Milo soon noticed the futon was being held up by a red stallion with a reddish blond mane. The voice was a very deep masculine voice and it fit the body of the stallion well. His body was dense with muscle, striations of the fibers shown on his bare chest as it flexed slightly. His body was almost cartoonish, but yet it still retained a quality rooted in reality. As they sat the futon down in the room the stallion wiped the sweat off his brow and let out a sigh.
“Damn,” He said, “I hate moving these things. It never seems to get any easier and the things seem to get heavier.”
“Such is life I guess.” Milo said.
“Good Gravy, where are my manners,” the stallion exclaimed, “My granny taught me better than that. Names Nate Macintosh but you can call me Big Mac.” The stallion said offering a beefy palm.
“ Milo Wildwood,” The Pegasus said.
“You’re the new guy huh?” Nate replied.
“Yes sir. This is my dad by the way.” Milo said, trying to hide his shyness around the stallion. Nate introduced himself to Milo’s dad and then his dad gave his son a hug and wished him the best seeing as the futon was the last piece of furniture and his services were no longer needed. As his dad’s footsteps made their last sound off of the steps Milo stared at the stallion in a trance like state only snapped out when he felt Nate’s hand on his shoulder.
“You okay?” he said.
“Oh yeah, just zoned out. Were you saying something?” Milo replied.
“I was just asking you about your hobbies. Ya know, icebreakers to get to know you better.” Nate said, his face giving an image of comfort and relaxation.
“Oh video games, reading, watching movies, nothing special. I bet you’re into weightlifting.” Milo said.
“Actually I’m a competitive bodybuilder.” Nate replied.
“Really?” Milo asked.
“Yep. I’ve won the Furry Musclemania championship 3 years in a row now.” Nate grinned flexing his arm.
“I can tell. You’re fucking jacked.” Milo realized what he just said and started to blush turning his face an even darker shade of red.
“Hey, don’t be embarrassed bud,” Nate said, “It’s just a compliment. Besides I like when other guy’s compliment me. It doesn’t make you gay.”
“Sorry, I just blurted it out.” Milo shyly replied.
“It’s cool. Hey maybe you can come with me and Jorge to the gym with us? We can help you out with your workouts, maybe even get you on a diet?” Nate beamed. Milo felt unsure.
“Uh, uh, okay. Maybe I will.” He said.
“Well,” Nate said, “See ya around.” Giving Milo a friendly wave as he walked out.
As Milo sat on his futon his mind began to stir. The feelings he felt, were nothing like he felt before. Confusion, arousal, curiosity. All those feelings stirred within him. As he began to take deep breaths to calm himself, he suddenly caught wind of a sound coming down the hall. It was a sad, mournful sound that touched him and healed whatever the encounter with Nate had broken within him. Milo knew the sound. It was the sound of a cello and it’s tones were like a siren’s song. A song that called him to the source, and an encounter with another tenant.
