Adoption

Twilight laid on her bed, thinking to herself. She was lonely. This castle was too large and only had one pony, a dragon, a owl and a baby phoenix. She jolted up as a thought hit her. She could adopt, there was plenty of orphaned foals on Ponyville, even Scootaloo who had been formerly homeless but now adopted by Rainbow as her daughter was formerly with them.

At the orphanage.

Twilight walked into the soft red colored building that was the orphanage. Inside the walls were a beautiful sea blue with streaks of baby pink everywhere. She walked up to the golden painted wooden desk where a green mare wearing glasses sat. The mare was looking through pictures of foals who lived there.

''Hello?''

''Ah!''

The mare looked up at Twilight before offering a welcoming smile.

''Hello, what do you need?''

''Well....Um...I'm here to adopt a foal.''

''Oh sure. What do you want? A filly or a colt?''

''Well, it doesn't really mattered much. All I want really is a unicorn to teach magic too.''

''Oh I see, Princess Twilight. You were formerly a amazing unicorn so teaching wouldn't be a problem and I'm sure the foal will love you as it's mother.''

''Thank you, um?''

''Mrs Seabreeze, dear. I will give you tips on caring for foals if you need them.''

''Thank you.''

They walked through a arch and into a room which had a sign of unicorns. There nearby doors at signs of pegasi and earth ponies. The room was colored in rainbows on a baby blue wallpaper. There was soft toys, painting items and a door at the back which obviously lend to the dorm rooms.

Two colts ran past the pair, one holding a toy sword in his mouth, the other holding another toy sword in his magic. They were laughing and smiling as the chased the other in a sort of tag game. One filly was using her magic to paint and another filly was sat in front of the drawer in a pose that the filly was obviously drawing.

But one filly in practically caught Twilight's eye. It was a filly, sat in the corner of a small reading area, with a book in front of her and holding a small teddy that looked like Twilight's lost teddy, Smarty Pants. Maybe Big Mac, the last one to have it, gave it away to the orphanage and this filly ended up with her. The book she was reading was brown and looked torn at the sides yet the filly was looking after it with such care that Twilight knew she wasn't the one of broke it.

She walked forward, through the crowns of unicorn foals and soon made it to the reading area. The floor wasn't carpeted in this area and was scattered with cushions for the foals to lie on. She could now see what the filly looked like.

She was a pale pink unicorn filly with a beautiful, straight indigo mane that was streaked at the top with a dark pinkish-red color. Her eyes were only just see able as the filly looked down. They were golden and shimmered like stars but they also reminded Twilight of Derpy Hooves's cross eyes as they were just as crossed. The filly was also a blank flank.

''Hello, there.''

The filly looked up from her book at the alicorn, blinking for a second, probably because of the change of vision knocked of sight off for a second.

''P-princess T-twilight?''

''Yes.''

''Y-your really here?''

''Yep. Can you tell me your name, little one?''

''Stars.....Shimmering Stars....I'm....7 years...old...''

''Stars, how long have you been here for?''

''Um.....All my life....''

''Do you want a mother?''

''Yes....''

''Then, do you want me to be that mother?''

''R-really!?''

''Yes.''

Stars eyes began filling with water as she ran forward and hugged Twilight.

''Thank you.....Mommy....''

''Your welcome, my little Star.'' said Twilight as she cuddle Stars.

''What's the name of your doll, Star?''

''Um...Periwinkle....''

She lifted the toy foal up to reveal it to be Smarty Pants.

''How did you get Periwinkle then?''

''Well....A kind earth pony stallion brought her in...asking for a kind filly to have her and Mrs Seabreeze let me....''

''Do you know how had her before you?''

''N-no....W-why?''

''Because, I used to own her.....But, I once went out of it and that stallion, who's one of my friends' older brother took it and I guessed that she ended up in your careful hooves...''

''T-then do you want her back...''

''No, I'm too old for a teddy now. You can have her and just to let you know, I had called her Smarty Pants but you can keep on calling her Periwinkle if you want.''

''Say, do you like reading?''

''Yes......It's the only thing that I can do right....''

''What do you mean by that?''

''....I was picked on for these eyes....And I'm clumsy and useless anyway....''

''I don't really care how you look or how you act. All that matters is your heart to me.''

''Okay, mommy.....''

''Come on. Let me tell Mrs Seabreeze that I want you while you get your stuff.''

''O-okay....''

The young unicorn got up and walked into the dorm part of the unicorn section. Twilight smiled and walked to Mrs Seabreeze.

''I guess you want to adopt Shimmering Stars, huh? She's quite helpful and one of the few unicorns who like reading.''

''I noticed, she's quite cute and beautiful. I would love to raise her as my own.''

''You can. I will get one of the pegasi to run down into my office to get the adoption papers for her, wait here.''

''Okay.''

Mrs Seabreeze went into the corridor and walked to the pegasi signed room. The room from what Twilight could see was amazing. Some of the toys had been built to stay on the roof and some cloud hoops scattered the ceiling with a couple of colts racing each other through them.

Mrs Seabreeze spoke to one of them and a young filly pegasus flow out and door the corridor. Stars came up behind Twilight and saw the filly.

''Honey Custard?''

''Somepony you know?''

''Not really.....We just tends to have to team up in outdoor break.''

''Oh, I see.''

''It's because she's the only filly who will work with me....''

''Don't worry too much. I know three fillies who will happily welcome you.''

''Who?''

''You'll find out later.''

''Okay.....''
