Dead in civilization
Once again, at Rarity's
Previous ChapterNext ChapterRarity's house was relatively quiet, given that a hoard of skeletons were shifting trees and boulders around and then throwing them in a hole, the loud thumps occasionally shook the house. Twilight was sat on the sofa, still dazed from the teleport. Rarity was sat down next to her. "You know, its funny how much this sofa has gotten in the past few days!" Rarity happily said in a attempt to break the silence. "I didn't really use it much, however I might need to get another one!" Rarity sighed happily as a loud thump shook the house.
Twilight started to regain her bearing. "Where did Dead go?" Twilight glanced around the room, with no sign of the the necromancer Twilight pressed the matter forward. "Did she go back outside to keep and eye on the skeletons?"
"Don't worry about her, you had quite the ordeal!" Rarity sang happily. "You may not remember it, but you threw up outside and passed out!"
"I was sick? Urgh that would explain that groggy feeling in my chest.." Twilight grumbled as she shut her eyes. "How long was I asleep for?"
"Oh not too long..." Rarity said smugly. "However long enough... About four hours..."
"Not long? Four hours! That's the start of the day gone! All my plans have to be rewritten and planned! And... And... Rarity! Get a bucket!" Twilight retched and convulsed as Rarity held a bucket up. Shorty after Twilight threw up, not a drop spilling out of the bucket.
"That's good Twilight, get it all out." Rarity sat down next to Twilight and patted her back, after Twilight had stopped hurling chunks Rarity continued. "Dead is upstairs, I'm sure she will be down any moment..."
A disgruntled Twilight regained her ability to talk. "What is she doing upstairs?
"Nothing, she is probably just asleep at the moment... She was rather tired..."
"Was? Okay then, what were you doing?" Twilight asked.
"Hm? That's not overly important Twilight, we need to focus on keeping you stable."
"But..."
"Twilight, you're still dizzy. Just rest for now."
"Wait! tell me what happened! What did you do to her?"
"Nothing, I mean it. She passed out shortly after you did! She was trying to stabilize you but she passed out from exhaustion. I guess that spell she did really took it out of her." Rarity sighed. "I hope she wakes up, all Rainbow has to do is fly over and hear her snoring and get the wrong idea..."
"The same idea I just had..." Twilight said sounding rather upset. "Sorry Rarity..."
"Oh no, its fine! I knew that it looked suspicious so I had expected it. I just hope that Rainbow doesn't jump to a similar conclusion..." Rarity said as she tried to hide her concern. "We had this whole plan to see if Dead was... Interested in mares..." Rarity sounded a lot more sinister towards the end.
"You are what now?" A puzzled Twilight said. "You have a plan, to find out Dead's sexual preference... Why not just ask her?"
"Because if we ask her, she will know about our feelings towards her. And if she says no it may cause her to move out, in fear of upsetting us."
"Oh really? Well then if its a plan you have, let me hear it." Twilight considered telling Rarity that Dead knew, however she decided it would do more harm then good.
"Well..." Rarity started however a loud groaning could be heard from the upstairs alerted Rarity and she stopped. "Look like Dead's awake! Sorry Twilight I will have to tell you later." The sound of hoofs coming down the stairs echoed through the house.
"Hey everypony, sorry about that. Didn't realize how much magic I used calling all those bones from the forest. I still feel a bit groggy... But I should be able to stay awake." Dead happily said as she stood in the front room. "So Twilight, care to explain why Skullworthy teleported you to me?"
"Oh yeah, he mentioned that there were four other necromancers and they had gain immortality through some means, I was wondering how you are immortal or, long lived." Twilight asked politely. "You don't have to tell me, but its just something I want to know."
"Oh, I see. What did Skullworthy tell you?"
"He told me that... One of you eat souls of the lost, I don't know what that means but I don't think it can be anything good."
"Eating lost souls... That is when lifeforms die alone and betrayed... Their souls wonder around, trying to find comfort. Feasting on them is considered an act of mercy. Its a rather depressing notion... But go on, what else did he tell you?"
"One of you... 'feasted on a lich' I don't know what he meant by that."
Dead chuckled. "A lich is what happens when a powerful necromancer comes back to life, with its mind still intact. They become a incredibly powerful undead creature with the ability to summon hoards of undead. And they are immortal in terms of time."
"So how do you 'feast' on one?"
"As far as I know, when they die they release all the energy they have built up. One could theoretically drain the energy and use it to make themselves immortal."
"Skullworthy mentioned a time lock? What does that mean?"
"It is a spell the dragons have mastered, if I recall a dragon captain who went by the name of Jack discovered it."
"What does it do?"
"It locks you in place, if you die you come back to life. You don't age. If your body tears, it mends. You don't need to eat and you never get ill. You don't age either. It is considered a blessing and a curse."
"And last but not least. the prolonged life theory."
"Ah yes, this one. Not much to it. They were born thousands of years ago and they haven't died yet. No magic working them or anything. Some say it is destiny."
"So which one are you? Do you feast on souls of the lost in order to extend your life? Did you defeat a lich and drain it of its power? Were you locked in time? Or are you just long lived?" Twilight asked as Dead smiled happily at her.
