Twilight Sparkle finally goes on her first date! And it's with a seemingly nice stallion, Brad Sentry. So, is it be everything she dreamed it would be? Simple answer: No.

Twilight Sparkle is Not Amused

Twilight Sparkle froze.

Now, Twilight Sparkle, in the past, was never a social pony. Even today she would struggle with meeting new ponies. But, the only thing that boggled her mind more than friendship, was romance. She could understand why her mother and father had gotten together. She could get why Shining Armor and Cadance were in love. Hay, she even got why Spike had his childish crush on Rarity! But, she could never, ever see herself in a romantic relationship. And why would she? She already had her friends, family, studies, and royal duties to deal with. What else did she need?

But, here she was, on a date with Brad "Flash" Sentry, in a busy, fancy restaurant. Panic surged through body, her eyes shrunk into dots, and she began to sweat. The news would spread through all of Equestria! She could see the headlines now! 'Flash Sentry and Twilight Sparkle: New Royal Couple?', 'Best. Couple! EVER!', 'FlashLight is My OTP!'. Soon, everypony would be fans of her and Brad, and they'll demand wedding bells. Princess Celestia would ask her to marry him, and Twilight would undoubtedly crack under the pressure. And as punishment for embarrassing her, Celestia would send her back to...MAGIC KINDERGART-

"Twilight!" Brad whined. "You're keeping me waiting!"

It took a few seconds, but Twilight finally stepped forward and followed after Flash.

"Honestly!" He huffed.

The two found a seat outside with a good view of the forest. Twilight looked around nervously for a few seconds and then decided to strike up a conversation with Flash.

"So, Brad-"

"Please, call me, Flash." Brad offered.

"So, Flash, tell me about yourself." Twilight said.

"Well," Flash Sentry began. "I'm a royal guard, which is, like, one of the best of the best jobs ever, y'know? So, I'm probably one of the greatest ponies that have ever graced Equus, y'know? I mean, I'm not ever exaggerating! And I'm also a friendless orphan 'cause my parents died in a fire, so that totally makes me a better character. And I'm friendless 'cause I'm only friends with ponies who are as awesomely amazing as me, but no one is as great as me, so no friends. Oh, look! Our menus are here!"

Twilight stared at the pony before her in awe. It wasn't because of the length of the speech or the fact that he had noticed the menus before her, it was the sheer amount of bragging in the speech alone. This pony was Trixie as a colt! No, he was worse than Trixie! Even she knew when to cut the act, but this pony had spent his whole life doing this.

Then, Twilight realized something. This would be the perfect opportunity to not only gain a friend, but to also teach a lesson.

"So, Br- er, I mean, Flash, as you know my friends are the Elements of Harmony, and I was wondering if you wanted to meet-"

"Ugh! Do you have to talk about yourself all the time?!" Flash cried.

Twilight Sparkle's jaw dropped. To the ground.

She cringed as she thought. 'How can a pony that seemed so nice be so...mean?'

"Well, that was rather rude..." Twilight murmured.

Brad Sentry shot her a look. "What was that?"

Twilight sighed. "Nothing..."

A black and white earth pony wearing a uniform and a name tag approached Twilight and Flash's table.

"Hello, my name is Sound Wave and I'll be your waiter this evening." She greeted.

"Hello, Sound Wave, my name is Twilight." The purple alicorn replied.

Sound Wave smiled and turned towards the direction of Flash. The orange colt didn't even acknowledge the earth pony's existence.

"That's Brad, er, Flash, uh, well, the important thing is that his last name is Sentry!" Said Twilight.

Sound Wave nodded slowly. "So...are you ready to order?"

"Oh, yes, I will have the dandelion sandwich, hay fries, and a hay shake."

"Y'know, if I were you, I'd lay off the dandelion sandwiches."

Twilight felt a sting in her chest, and it hurt. For, in her life, she had never truly been insulted. Even the little 'egghead' comments from Rainbow Dash were all in good fun. But, at that moment, Twilight truly felt hurt. Because Flash Sentry just called Twilight Sparkle fat.

Sound Wave, with her face all scrunched up turned towards Brad again. "What would you like, sir?

"Nothing." Said the pegasus. "This place isn't good enough for me."

Sound Wave stared agape at the guard while Twilight crossed her forelegs, a scowl upon her face.

The waiter chuckled nervously. "Okay, well, I'll be right with your order as soon as possible." Then, she immediately ran away as soon as she got the sentence out.

Twilight didn't blame her.

"Ugh! Twilight! You're such a pig!" Cried Flash.

Twilight Sparkle was currently in the middle of finishing off her hay fries hungrily, because she had already devoured her dandelion sandwich and slurped down her hay shake. Finally, she shoved the last of the fries into her mouth and let out a loud burp.

No, it's not that she wanted to do this. But, if this was the only way to do end this date sooner, then she would do it.

Sound Wave slowly and stealthily crawled towards to the two. She hoofed the bill onto the table and crept away. All while not being seen.

"Oh, look! The check's here." Twilight commented.

Brad didn't move a muscle. Neither did Twilight.

"Well," Brad said, crossing his forelegs against his chest. "I'm waiting."

Twilight rolled her eyes. "Of course you are."

Twilight reluctantly payed the check and the two left the restaurant.

Twilight shifted uncomfortably in her bed. After tonight's events, she was emotionally exhausted. Not only had she been insulted, she had also been driven to her wit's end by a stupid, self-centered colt. Well, at least Princess Celestia and Spike were there to give her some encouraging words.

Twilight sighed.

Was this it? Was she doomed to eternal despair if she could not find love?

The purple pony sat up and peered over the bed to see Spike's basket and blanket. Rarity had someone managed to salvage them from the fire, and had even repaired them.

Twilight smiled as tears began to trickle down her cheeks. Twilight Sparkle had her friends, family, studies, and responsibilities. What else did she need?

Simple answer: Nothing.

She didn't need anything else. Especially not that jerk Flash Sentry.
