Many ponies question why I have a cutie mark of butterflies since I love and care for all woodland creatures. Do I like butterflies more than any other animal? The answer is no; love doesn't work that way. The reason butterflies embellish my flank is much more deeper than a love for animals, big and small. When I see a butterfly, I remember that they are delicate, swaying in the slightest breeze. It reminds me of me when I was a filly. I could never stand up for myself. When they saved my life, they taught me even when anything can scare you -- push you around -- even somepony as delicate as me, can make a difference. Everything afterwards is just me finding the beauty in interacting with creatures who accept me for who I am. But it all stems from the very moment a cluster of butterflies saved my life, not only from the hard ground, but from myself.

Words are meaningless. They are limited. But music is universal. Anypony can understand when a song is sad, they can understand when a song is happy. It's a language that speaks to us all. As the princess of the sun settles her glorious star, darkness sweeps over the land only to replaced by the cooling glow of the pale nighttime light. Showering us in her presence, she bids us good night as she secures her status as ruler of the starry sky, watching her subjects and keeping them safe.

Stop making chaos? You must be out of your mind. Oh wait, that's me. Hahahaha! Why would I stop doing what makes me who I am? All you pony folk are all the same: get your cutie mark and do that 'destiny' till you kick the dirt. How terribly boring. But there is one fundamental concept we share... We are who we are and we will never change. Continuity is so boring, but chaos is the complete opposite. Which is why I will always be the Master of Chaos. It is who I am, and this is how I choose to show it. Now let me ask you this: who are you? And are you satisfied?

What is beauty? Something pleasing to the eye? Something everypony can like? When I create my dresses, I know--not everypony will like it. It is impossible to please everypony. Clashing ideas, differing tastes, one dress cannot encompass it all. Beauty is not so much for the beholder but the creator. It's true I would love it if everypony loves what I create, but I don't create to please--I create to express what I truly feel what beauty is. It isn't something I can capture in just one dress, so I create and create. Just as there is many different ponies, there are many different dresses that capture many different ideas. Spring, summer, silk, linen, all ideas that act individually, so it's my passion to try bold new things and fit them together. That is beauty; no matter how different ideas--ponies--can be. When we work together and make something happen, that--that right there--is art, a thing of beauty.

I remember the first time I saw snow fall. Back in Cloudsdale, the snow clouds never go above the skyline, so I had never seen an actual snow fall before. But, one day, when the northern winds were at their hardest, an updraft picked up the scheduled snow fall for Ponyville. I was only a small filly at the time, but I'll never forget that moment. The sun's light melted into the snow flakes, causing them to shimmer and sparkle like rainbow-colored stars. So much snow was in the air that they reflected a rainbow so bright over me, I couldn't see anything else but the rainbow. So every time I see a rainbow, I think of that moment when the fiery sky danced with the snow and created a perfect harmony of light and color. And to think such a thing like this could exist. Makes me wonder--what else is out there?

One day, I'm going to lift the sun. It takes too long to go up on its own, and my sister doesn't like the dark. And I don't like seeing her scared--she doesn't want to play at night, so it gets really, really lonely at night. If I can get the sun to shine, Luna will want to play more often with me, instead of staring at the moon all night, longing for its light to outshine the dark. Don't worry, Luna. The sun will shine for you.

I've been living a nightmare. Ever since I rebelled against my sister, thoughts of envy, regret, anger tormented me. Even now when my loving sister accepted me home with open hooves, those thoughts still torment me. Where do I turn? Who can relieve me of my nightmare? Celestia can't, she wasn't in my hooves. All she can say is all will be well. For all I know, she can ready the elements at anytime to banish me once more. No, Luna, you mustn't think such poisonous thoughts. I still love my sister, because after everything I put her through, she still accepts me. She even blames herself, even though it wasn't her fault. But the nightmare still pulls at me, it still haunts me. I just wish somepony can be my protector of the night. Is that too much to ask?

Why do I--lord of chaos and disharmony--side myself with creatures who stand for everything I'm against? Because the natural world rejects me, reality rejects me, I'm not meant to exist--but... these creatures... accept me. They accept me for who I am even though I have done some rather displeasing things to them--BUT, it was all in good fun. Hahahaha....

Love... I... I don't know what it is... All my life, love always seemed to follow me. Always... since birth. As I grew, I learned that around me ponies are happier, more caring towards me and each other. At first, I didn't mind it. Ponies were happy, and that's all that really mattered. But was it really love? Or a curse? My magic caused ponies to feel love. I did that to them. It makes me wonder if they really felt love, or it was just my magic affecting them? Did they love me for me... or did I trick them into loving me? Even now, married, I fear ponies don't love me, but they think they love me. It's a hollow feeling that keeps me up at night. What is love when I can so easily wield it to do my bidding?

What do you know about power? Anypony can cast spells, but what does it mean to be truly powerful? I'll be the first to tell you that power means nothing if you don't how to use it--why you use it. True power isn't some fancy spell or lost magic only you can use; it's the heart you put in any action you do--not just magic. Be the best you can be at all times. That is when you truly shine, and then, nopony can match you.

Many ponies ask me why I look up to Rainbow. She's self-centered, a show off, and thinks only about herself. Why do I need a role model like her? The truth is I don't see her ego. To me, it's a speck of dust compared to what I do see. Sure she isn't perfect, but why would I want her to be? If she was perfect, I can never be like her. So whenever she falls, it reminds me that she's just like me with flaws of her own. It helps me see that I can be like her. I can be loyal to my friends, I can be a great flier, and I can be the best I can be; and when I do fall, I know my friends will see the real me and stick by my side. That's why I look up to Rainbow Dash.

The Rock Who Wishes To Fly (A Maud Pie Poem)
Sedimentary in solitude,
alone and out of view,
a speckled sky above deep, dark and blue,
a lively streak of fire soars across the sky,
with but a distant dream,
the rock exclaims, "I wish I could fly!"
But try as it may, it is stuck on the ground,
it's dreams allay, no where to be found,
so it sits there, alone and out of view,
as it stares out yonder, into the deep, dark blue.

I remember my first party. Life around the farm is always so brooding and gray--always gray. No color anywhere which made me wonder why I am pink. It's the only color that looks alive, but why did I have it? The rest of my family belonged to the farm--they shared it's color and stoic demeanor. I was different and it wasn't until a rainbow showed up that I knew why. I like making others smile. Ponies are too caught up on their worries. They slowly become gray, distant. When I threw that party for my family, I saw something spark in them, something different. They smiled; they were happy even if winter was coming and father didn't know if we had enough bits to make it through. That was his gray, but I showed him some Pink. I showed him that even though life is tough, we are a family and we will always be there for each other. And sometimes that's all anypony needs: somepony to be there and make them smile, splash some pink on their gray.

My dad told me this story that I will always remember for as long as I live. It's about the eagle who never flew. Once there was an eagle that grew up with some chickens. Its egg fell from its nest and landed in a chicken's. Anyway it hatched and thought it was with its own kind; it walked like them, talked and ate like them. One day, the eagle felt a pull towards the sky and an energy filled its wings, so it turned to its friends and said, "Hey, let's fly." But all the other chickens shook their head. "No, we belong on the ground." Day after day, the eagle persisted, but their reply would be the same. "We belong on the ground." Finally, the eagle gave up and accepted the fact that chickens belong on the ground, and it never flew. You see, if we follow the crowd, we will never know who we are, and what we're capable of--we will never be able to soar and see how far we can push our limits. So don't be another face in the crowd, and don't follow everypony else. Just 'cuz everypony does something the same way doesn't mean it's the right way. Be awesome; be you. Your day will come, and when it does--fly, fly is high as you want.

As I stare at the world that has shunned me, I begin to wonder: Was it really my fault? This voice in the back of my mind tells me to cover everything in darkness like the eternal void around me. All I wanted was to share my glorious night. Sister, if you can hear me, help me. I don't know what is right and what is wrong. Help me escape this nightmare.

As I stare into the never-ending sky, I wonder: what is the purpose of my life? No matter what I do, no matter what I accomplish, I can't take any of those accomplishments with me after I die. So why live in the first place? Haha, for my friends of course. The lives I touch, the memories I share is really what it's all about. I can't live for myself, but for my friends. So when ponies laugh at my derpy eyes or at something ditzy I do, I don't care what they think of me. As long as I see that smile, I am fulfilling my purpose.
