More than a friend, more than a assistant

As the sun arose over the hills of Ponyville, the warm light shone through the Library top windows and hit Spike in the face. He slowly opened his eyes and rubbed them to see better, "Hmm? Morning already? I woke up not too long ago..." He sat up from the bed and sighed, "Alright, time to see what Twilight has burned today. Hopefully she hasn't burned the last of the bacon, that would set me off." As he stood and turned around he saw Twilight was still in bed, he scratched his head and wondered if something was wrong, "She gets up earlier than I do, or even wakes me up...maybe she sick?" He walked around the bed and looked down at her, "She looks asleep. Maybe I woke her up too and she's just catching up on sleep?" He gently placed his hand on her forehead and felt a little warmth but nothing indicating sickness, "Well, this is odd but I should just let her get some sleep and get breakfast ready." He began to head downstairs as he whistled a low tune.

Twilight got up as she heard him leave and blushed hard, "Damn it Spike, why must you make everything so difficult...I was gonna get up but you seem to forget that you are grown up now..." She remembered opening her eyes as he touched her forhead and saw his morning wood greeting her face, she didn't want to scare him by waking up and freaking out. She got up and sighed, "As soon as I go to breakfast I'm gonna head to Rarity's and talk to her, I don't know how much more of this I can take." She got up and started to take off her night gown, she smiled a bit as she remembered how Spike was kissing and touching her as well as how she kissed and touched him. An aroma began to grab her attention, it was the sweet smell of Spike's blueberry pancakes with cinnamon, her favorites. She began to head downstairs happily and got to the kitchen to see him at the stove cooking, "Oh my gosh! You are making my favorites!?"

"Hehe, yes I am, I figured you'd want a good breakfast." He turned around and smiled but the smile quickly faded and his face began to burn red, he saw Twilight standing at the kitchen entrance, naked. He normally wouldn't be fazed by this when he was younger but something inside him was telling him that he wanted to grab her and kiss her but also more. He looked away and didn't notice he was getting hard, "T-twilight...you are...um...naked..."

Twilight looked down and blushed hard before teleporting upstairs, "Ahhhh!! I'm sorry Spike! I didn't remember I was changing!" She began to get dressed quickly but now felt too embarassed to head back downstairs after revealing herself to him, as she quietly paniced she began to remember his reaction. "H-he blushed, looked away but I still felt his eyes on my body...he even had a bulge in his boxers...he...he liked what he saw...oh my gosh! I really need to see Rarity!" She teleported back down and saw Spike eating by himself, when he saw her he blushed but kept eating. "Sorry Spike but I need to head to Rarity's right now so I'll be taking this to go." She grabbed a pancake and began to walk out while eating it, she quickly closed the door and sped to Rarity's boutique. As she got there, she saw the closed sign still up which puzzled her since Rarity would normally be up and working on designs or orders.

She knocked on the door and listened for a response, "...One moment please!" She heard hurried shuffling and bumping before the door was unlocked and opened, Rarity stood there with an oversized shirt and pajama bottoms on as well as her messy hair. "Sorry darling I um...had a rough night of sleep but please come in and make yourself at home." She motioned Twilight inside and closed the door behind her, "Tell me dearie, what brings you here so early? I do admit I am not busy or...really in the midset to work but you are usually off at the library, reading or studying or creating some sort of havoc for poor Spikey to deal with." She chuckled at her own joke and turned to Twilight only to see her unresponsive to it, "Dearie? What is on your mind?"

Twilight made her way to a chair and sat down, she sighed and shook her head "Spike...he's really grown up now isn't he. It's not just some trick of the eyes or of the mind...my little Spike isn't little anymore. I'm not sure how to feel about all this..."

Rarity frowned and sat in a chair beside her, "Well, he is now older and from what he said, there is no going back. I'm afraid it's all real Twilight. What about him being older is troubling you?"

Twilight began to recall the past twenty-four hours and blushed as she remembered kissing him and exposing herself to him, "I can't act like I used to before and...since he is now an adult, he'll have adult responses to things. I accidentally um...revealed myself to him in the morning as I teleported downstairs. He blushed and looked away but he also...became aroused..."

Rarity listened to Twilight and chuckled as she began to mention the morning incident till she heard her say he became aroused "A-aroused you say? How c-could you tell?" Rarity didn't know why but she didn't like hearing Twilight say Spike became aroused to Twilight's little peep show.

She tried not to blush so much but her face began to beam red light "H-he had a b-b-bulge...in his boxers..." She looked at Rarity and saw a face of disapproval, "It wasn't on purpose! I just forgot I was changing and the smell of blueberry pancakes made me excited so I just teleported there..."

Rarity saw her catching on to her face and began to smile, "It's alright Twilight, we all make mistakes and it's cute to hear Spike is finally responding like a man. Just make sure to be careful around him now, we don't want you to end up getting ravaged by the vicious dragon, hahaha!" She saw Twilight frown and blush harder from her comment but she felt better from saying it, Rarity opened her mouth to say something but then just closed it. She wanted to tell Twilight that she was having sleeping trouble since she was thinking hard about Spike's sudden growth and if she could bring herself to try to flirt with Spike and maybe even ask him to dinner but what Twilight said next broke all her delusions of a night with her beloved dragon.

"Th-that's not funny Rarity...last night he...well, I did too but out of curiosity..." Twilight struggled to say what she wanted to say properly. "He...kissed me as I slept a-and touched me...like a lover would..."

Rarity's jaw dropped and her eyes widened, "That ruffian!! Oh when I get my claws on him for attacking you in such a way, why I'll-"

Twilight stopped Rarity's rampage by placing a hand on her hand, "It wasn't like that at all...he was asleep too. I'm sure he was having a dream about you a-and just acted somethings out. He never went farther than kissing, he still is an innocent virgin."

Rarity rubbed her head "Well, I suppose to solve this all you really need to do is by the thing a bed and he'll stop sleep molesting-"

Twilight frowned "I also...I also touched and kissed him but...I was awake...I'm sorry! I was just so happy to have gotten such tender treatment and I was having a dream it was a lover and it turned out to be Spike and his lips were so inviting and his body is just so amazing and...and...oh dear I'm a pervert!!" She buried her face in her hands and Rarity was dumbfounded by her.

Rarity cleared her throat and moved Twilight's hands away and saw her crying silently, "Twilight...I can't say I'm not disappointed by what you did but...I have a feeling this is not just because Spike is a handsome adult now...do you have some sort of feelings towards Spike?"

The question rang in Twilight's mind for a minute, she has been telling herself that they were just siblings and coworkers but somewhere inside her, there was a feeling of love that she couldn't account for when it came to Spike. He would always act chummy around her, smile at her randomly, help her in tasks even he didn't need to help her with, he was her source for food and cleaning since she was pretty useless at it but he didn't have to go the extra mile when it came to making her happy. She looked at Rarity and her eyes grew wide, "Y-yes...I think...I think I do...I think I do feel something for Spike b-but since he was just a child I could easily surpress it but now that he's older...I think I love him...oh gosh..."

The words I think I love him droned in Rarity's mind like loud gongs being hit by Pinkie Pie after ten super choco cakes, she was petrified by Twilight's respose "Sh-she loves him....she loves him!!! No way! I loved him even when he was just a child but never took it far since he was just a child but now that he's older, he's mine!!" she said in her mind but she looked at Twilight's face of confusion and acceptance. "B-but...she knows him better...she is always around him...hell, she even makes him happy. Oh Rarity, you should of pounced on him immediately! Now Twilight is going to take him away...at least she'll be happy...I know I would of..." she thought and patted Twilight's back. "Now dearie, since you know realize you love him...what will you do?"

Twilight looked at Rarity and looked lost, "I...I'm not too sure. I guess I'll try to see if he shows any signs of liking me and if he does...I will try to ask him out but...if he doesn't, which I'm sure of, then I won't do a thing and try to forget about it all. I don't want to lose him just because he doesn't feel the same way I do."

Rarity nodded and got up, "Sounds like you found your answer Twilight. Now get out there and nab yourself a dragon!" She smiled and Twilight smiled as well.

She rose and nodded, "Hehe, okay. I'll try...thank you Rarity. I couldn't of discovered my feelings without you." She hugged Rarity and began to head out the door.

Rarity closed the door behind her and she leaned her head against the door, tears running down her cheek. "Stupid Rarity....stupid, stupid Rairty...you just let her leave and gave her confidence to take him away..." She walked to the stairs and went up to her room, she laid on her bed and curled up in a ball, "He...he loves me but...Twilight is smart, she'll easily woo him away...I can't fight my best friend over a guy, much less a friend to both of us..." She inched close to a nearby drawer and pulled out a necklace, it had a fire ruby shaped like a heart on a gold chain, she kissed it and felt a warmth come from it. "I...I guess this is goodbye...Spikey Wikey..." she began to cry before falling asleep with the necklace on.
