A Certain Magical Esper

(Four Years Later)

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! CRASH!

"Uggghhhh." A lump groaned as it moved under the blankets.

BANG, BANG, BANG!

"TWI HOSHI! Hurry up or you're going to be late for class!" The lump heard and stiffened as the door opened up.

"Twi, you need to get up. As one of Tokiwadai and Academy City's most powerful esper you need set a example for your fellow espers."

"Why does mornings come?" The lump asked while feeling her friend climbed on her bed.

"Twi we go through this each morning, what would your fans think if they saw you this way?" Her friend growled grabbing the covers and pulled.

"GET UP TWI! WE HAVE CLASSES THIS MORNING!" She yelled while the lump held firm.

"My grades are not a problem." The lump mumbled.

"What about your reputation?"

"It's not a problem."

"You could get in trouble!"

"That's problematic."

"Then get up!"

"Some things are impossible, even for me." The lumb mumbled.

"It's not impossible!"

"There are things that mortals shouldn't do and mornings are such a thing."

"I'm up! What does that make me then?"

"...... A god among mortals or a demon in human skin."

"That's not nice Twi."

"Like I said the impossible is the impossible. The fact that so many people can do the impossible then that means that I am in the world of the gods or demons."

"You're impossible. Tell you what, if you get up then I'll make you your favorite breakfast." Her friend said smiling feeling the girl loosen her hold on the blanket.

"Your special breakfast rice balls?"

"Yes but you need to get up now and get dressed." The girl said as the covers were tossed back showing a dressed girl. She had short purple hair with a pink highlight going through the middle with her bangs framing her face as she gave the girl a sleepy smile.

"Good morning, Shirai Kuroko." Twi said as the girl sighed but gave a smile. Kuroko is a level 4 esper and a student of Tokiwadai Middle School, as well as a member of Judgment. She can usually be found accompanying the third-ranked Level 5 esper Misaka Mikoto and first-ranked Level 5 esper Twi Hoshi.

She has tawny hair tied into two curly pigtails; the rest of her hair is left to hang as two rows of fringes divided in the middle. Her pigtails are tied in place by a red bow each. On her thighs, she secures a pair of black straps where she stores the metal spikes used to secure criminals.

"Good morning Twi. Now come on lets get ready for class, I'll make those rice balls as soon as when our first class is over. Misaka is waiting for us in homeroom." Shirai said as Twi groaned and grabbed her things before following her friend out of The Garden of Learning girls dorms.

(Tokiwadai Middle School)

"The concept of Personal Reality is related to quantum theory. It allows the user to utterly ignore the Uncertainty Principle, and with regards to the Schrödinger's cat thought experiment, would allow them to choose the possibility they want, or more specifically, distort a micro world using different laws, or more accurately, control their microscopic observations of the world.This is in contrast with holism, which is based on major changes in the whole "system", the macroscopic world, to create a microscopic effect, which is in this case, their powers." Twi sighed listening to the teacher drone on about the basics of esper powers. She was a professional with a degree in teaching much of these things after she raided the city library three years ago. She smiled at that thought.

"Ms. Twi, would you like to comment on this?" The teacher asked as Twilight gave him a bored look with a "Are you serious" look on her face.

"Right, sorry." The teacher said Twilight looked back out of the window remembering the last four years.

'I can't believe it's already been so long. It's weird being 14 again, I wonder how everything's been in the last few years.' She mused before shrugging.

'Doesn't matter. Not my problem anymore. Besides this world and this city is amazing! I never would have imagined I could ever be in a place like this. Even that other weird human world didn't have tech like this.' She smiled just as the bell rang.

"Alright everyone that's it for today. Be sure to do you homework there will be a test on what we talked about this week!" He called out to his students as they groaned while Twilight sighed before she felt an arm around her shoulders.

"Hey Twi, want to go see what Kuroko is up to." Misaka said smiling at her. Mikoto has chestnut brown hair and is often seen wearing a small hair clip. Her eyes are the same color as her hair. She is also shown to have a complex regarding her chest, feeling inferior when compared to girls with bigger bust sizes.

"Probably day dreaming of you naked." Twilight said as the poor girl's face turned beet red.

"W-Why would you say something like that!?" She yelled as Twilight laughed.

"Come on you know it's true. I bet she's at Judgement right now with that stupid look on her face and mumbling your name." Twilight smiled as the girl groaned.

"I know."

(177th Judgement Branch)

(Judgement is a term used to refer to Academy City's student-based disciplinary committee. They are composed of students of varying grade levels and power, and along with Anti-Skill, they are tasked to maintain peace-and-order within the school system. Judgment members can be recognized by the armbands they wear over their right sleeves, which are green with white stripes and which have a shield symbol. Sporting somewhere around 20,000 members that supports Anti-Skill when the need arises and vise versa.)

"ACHOO!"

"You're not coming down with something are you Shirai?" Konori Mii asked while Shirai blew her nose. A high school student of Academy City, she is a Level 3 esper and is Chief of the 177th Branch of Judgment where Uiharu Kazari and Shirai Kuroko work. As their senpai (upperclassman) before becoming chief, she tries to make sure both girls do their work at Judgment seriously and at the same time wants them to be safe. She has short black hair and is often seen wearing glasses. She also has great proportions and is well-endowed as well.

"I think someone is talking about me." She said as a goofy smile on her face.

"Maybe Sissy is thinking of me." She gushed while Konori rolled her eyes.

"By the way, how is Twi doing?" She asked as Shirai sighed.

"The usual, she's so hard to get up in the morning I can't believe she's the smartest girl in our school. I wonder what Twi and Sissy is up to." Shirai wondered.

"Hey Shirai is there a chance I could meet up with you and your friends today?" A timid voice called from one of the offices as she poked her head out.

"Uiharu Kazari, you know that Sissy and Twi are really busy, but I am meeting up with them today. If you want to meet with them at one of the cafe's on fourth street this afternoon. I don't know if Twi will be there since she might have Anti-Skill work later today if she's called in." Shirai said while turning to see her friend all starry eyed.

(Anti-Skill is the term used to refer to Academy City's police and security forces. Unlike Judgment, members of Anti-Skill are ordinary adults who work in the city. One is essentially a volunteer when they join Anti-Skill, and as such is not paid to do Anti-Skill work; however, the city compensates for Anti-Skill members' help in the experiment by giving them various gifts and privileges.)

"I get to meet Mikoto Misaka the Darling of Tokiwadai today." She gushed while Shirai smiled and rolled her eyes.

"Calm down Uiharu. It's just Misaka and Twi nothing to go crazy over." Shirai said while the other gave her a pointed look.

"Maybe not for you since you see the two of them everyday and get to-" She froze she looked behind Shirai to see one of her idols walk in with a Anti-Skill uniform on.

"Hey Konori." She waved getting a smile from the girl.

"Hey Twi, what brings you by here today?" Konori asked.

"Well I came by to give you some reports. Captain Aiho is running us ragged with some of Skill Out is getting a little bold lately so she's sending me to take them in." Twilight sighed rubbing her shoulder.

"Y-You're." Uiharu stammered making them all turn to her.

"Um are you Uiharu?" Twilight asked.

"Y-You know my name." She gasped.

"Yeah, Shirai told me all about you, I'm surprised we haven't met before." Twilight said walking toward the girl and held out her hand.

'The most powerful esper in all of Academy City knows my name!' Uiharu thought.

"I'm Twi Hoshi, it's a pleasure to meet you." She smiled as the girl tried to pull herself together.

"Hi, it's a honor to meet you. I mean it is really an honor." She said blushing a little while looking down.

"No need for any of the formalities. I may be the number one esper by the city but I'm not royalty so don't treat me any different than anyone else." She smiled emitting a calm aura around her making the girl feel relaxed.

"Anyway it was nice meeting you. I'll see you around sometime, I got to get back to work. Later Shirai, later Konori." She waved heading out the door with a wave over her shoulder.

"Wow, she's really nice." Uiharu sighed plopping down on the sofa she was next to.

"Yes, Twi is a very humble person. She's very polite to all her fans no matter how much the bug her. It's like she's had training dealing with them." Shirai sighed thinking of the crowds of people that would usually hang around her friend.

"She's one of Academy Cities few gemstones. So she likes to humble herself and looks out for her friends, though sometimes I think Sissy is rubbing off on her especially when one of her friends are in trouble." Shirai sighed but smiled remembering times the girl would get in trouble for hurting other students even if they were cause in trouble.

"Gemstone?" Uiharu asked while Shirai sighed.

"Seriously Uiharu?A Gemstone is defined as an esper who has obtained their power without an artificial method such as the Power Curriculum Program in Academy City. In other words a natural esper." She said as she grabbed her things just as her phone rang.

"Hello? Oh hey Sissy! Oh yeah, well ok. I'll see you at home then." Koroko sighed before hanging up and looked at Uiharu.

"Sorry Uiharu looks like we'll have to take a rain check on that meeting. Misaka has a few errands today that she needs to take care of. Lets try tomorrow after our systems scan, we should be meeting at crepe stand later. Why don't you meet us there, I think that Twi is off tomorrow for her systems scan." Shirai smiled as she headed for the door.

"Ok, I'll meet you after my systems scan." Uiharu sighed.

(With Twilight)

[This is Twi, I need back up in District 10! Shots fired] Twilight radioed as a few more shots rang out.

[Roger that backup is on the way. Just hold on!] She heard Aiho.

"Come out girly! You're going to pay for hurting our guys!" She heard making her smile and look back at the alley covered in groaning bodies.

"Backup isn't going to get here in time. I have no choice but you use my power, sorry captain." She sighed and stepped out of cover.

BLAM BLAM BLAM BLAM!

Twilight sighed as she watched the rounds curved around her as she held up her hand and waved it at the group of armed Skill Out members making all fly in the direction of her hand slamming into various thing knocking them out cold.

"You little brat!" She turned dodging a pipe.

"I take it you guys have no idea what you're dealing with. Let me enlighten you." She said tapping the man on the shoulder and watched as he smashed into the ground.

"T-That was more than one ability. You're that top Level 5 esper!" He grunted while she smiled.

"That's right I'm know as the Ability Queen. Twi Hoshi and today I'm here for you to give a little message for your boss. I don't know what faction you're with but since your buddies decided that you're going to try a turf war with Anti-Skill and Judgement then they sent me in to clean up this little mess. I want you to tell your boss that if he continues I'll come for him personally and I'm not going to hold back." She growled before letting him up.

"Now go, let him know his choices." She said watching him limp away just as Anti-Skill trucks pulled up and troops swarmed into the area.

"Twi are you ok?!" Twi turned and smiled at one of her friends. Tessō Tsuzuri, she has dark green hair which she often wears in a pony-tail; she also has lime green eyes, and wears glasses. She a bit clumsy but a all around good person.

"Hey Tesso, yeah I'm fine." She smiled walking towards them as the other members began to gather the Skill Out members.

"Looks like you were able to turn the situation around. Good job Twi." Aiho smiled throwing a arm over her shoulders.

"Thanks Captain Aiho." She said before throwing a arm over Tesso.

"Come on I'll buy you guys a drink." She said as the two cheered.

"Hell yeah that's what I'm talking about!" Aiho cheered.

"But first lets go to the baths, I'm all sweaty and gross plus I got my systems check tomorrow." She sighed as Aiho nudged her shoulder.

"Come on Twi, we all know that you'll be fine." She said.

"Yeah Twi, we all know you'll pass with flying colors." Tesso smiled.

"I know, but it's just a pain." Twi sighed.

BLAM!

Twi grit her teeth as she felt the rifle round tear through her neck.

"TWI!!! OFFICER DOWN!" Aiho screamed as she and Tesso grabbed the girl as she fell to her knees while the sound of gunfire clattered in the background.

"Twi hang on! You got to hang on!" Tesso cried as she spotted the sniper and opened fire screaming with tears in her eyes.

'Damn this really hurts.' She thought and worked her power to heal her wound. Aiho stared in awe as she watched the wound heal before her eyes.

‘Regeneration?’ She thought staring in shock.

"My god." She gasped as the the wound closed and Twi began to cough.

"I'm ok." She coughed some blood that was still in her mouth. She voice was rough from the healing but that would pass within a few hours. Twilight felt Tesso wrap her arms around as she cried into her back.

Aiho stared down at the girl that had become a very good friend in awe.

'Just what are you Twi?'

(Tokiwadai Girls Dorm, Garden Of Learning)

Twi sighed as she walked into her room throwing her Anti-Skill uniform one of the chairs and looked at the blood stain on the front of her uniform.

"I'm going to need to send those to the cleaners" She sighed changing into her PJ's and flopping onto her bed.

"I hate System Scan day." She groaned
