A Certain Magical Esper

(A Week Later)

Twilight smiled as she looked down at Kuroko who had a big smile on her own face while she carried some groceries along with Twilight heading back to the dorm. Today was a rare day off for the both of them and they decided to hang out together and do some shopping.

Over the past week Kuroko had come over almost every night to discuss this Level Upper thing that Saten talked about but with Uiharu down for the count they had to investigate on their own and try to track down the creator.

"So Twi what do you want to do once we get to the dorms?" Kuroko asked as Twilight hummed.

"Well once we have these things put up and everything I was thinking just spending the day relaxing. I know we could both use it after these last few weeks itself.

"Hey I got an idea, why don't we go visit Uiharu and then head to the pool?" Kuroko suggested as images of Twilight ran through her head making her blush.

"Sure sounds fun, I haven't been to the pool in a long time so I could go for a swim." Twilight said grinning at the blush on the girls face.

"Thinking dirty thoughts about me Kuroko?" She said as the girl suddenly paled and looked up at Twilight who was smiling a little to sweetly for her tastes.

"Um, maybe?" She whimpered as they walked into the Garden of Learning.

"Well out with it, am I naked or do you got something elaborate on me?" She asked while Kuroko was at a loss of words.

Twilight loved that look on her face she could really understand why Discord did some of the things he did. It was hilarious! As Kuroko sputtered and tried to form words Twilight tried to keep from laughing but she couldn't take it anymore and burst out laughing.

"What are you laughing about?" Kuroko asked looking up at the laughing girl.

"I'm sorry Kuroko but the look on your face was just priceless!" Twilight laughed while Kuroko pouted.

"You're such a tease Twi." She groaned while Twilight chuckled.

"...."

"Twi?" She went to turn around before she felt the other girls arms around her and her lips by her ear.

"Do you really think I'm just teasing?" She asked nibbling on Kuroko's ear as her face turned cherry red.

"I-I-I-" Kuroko stuttered as Twilight pulled away and walked ahead of her with a smile on her face.

'That girl is going to be the death of me.' Kuroko thought trying to calm down and not jump the girl in front of her.

(Outside Uiharu's)

After putting their groceries away they made it over to their friends house to check up on her. Along the way the two had teased and flirted with each other to the point both were speechless and red faced with silly smiles on their faces as they reached Uiharu's door and knocked only for the door to be opened by Saten.

"Oh hey guys what are you doing here? Come to see how Uiharu is doing?" She asked getting a nod from them.

"Great that makes everyone here." She chirped as she led them into the den where they saw Uiharu with a cloth on her head and a thermometer laying beside her. Not far was Misaka who was sipping some tea waving when she spotted her friends.

"Hey Uiharu, you have a few more friends to come visit you." Saten called out as the girl smiled.

"Hey guys, thanks for coming." She said weakly as they smiled.

"It's no problem." Kuroko said as Twilight walked closer to her.

"How are you feeling?" She asked while Saten brought in some more tea the them.

"Still really tired." She sighed.

"Well make sure you get some fluids in you to we can't have our number one Judgement officer down for too long," Twilight smiled getting one from the sick girl.

"Thanks Twi." She said.

"What's her temperature at?" Twilight asked.

"37.3 celsius. It's a small fever but I know how stubborn they can be." Saten replied.

"You know Saten maybe I wouldn't be so sick if you would stop flipping my skirt up all the time." Uiharu pointed out as Twilight sat between Misaka and Kuroko taking a sip from her tea.

"Don't give them the wrong idea. As Uiharu's best friend I just want to make sure she's wearing panties." She said as Uiharu sat up suddenly with a blush on her face.

"Of course I wear panties! Every day!" She huffed.

"Yes, yes, we know. Now lie back down before you get worse." Misaka said getting a huff from the girl as she did as she was told.

"So what have you guys been doing all day?" Misaka asked as the two smiled.

"Shopping." They said as Misaka groaned.

"Aww, why didn't you call me? I needed to get a few things for class and I need some new PJ's since I never did get them the last time we went shopping." She moaned.

"Sorry Misaka, we just didn't think about it since we both have this rare day off." Twilight said as she sighed.

"You guys suck." She pouted as Saten sat down.

"So are there anymore breakthroughs with the Level Upper case?" Saten asked as the two sighed.

"No. Nothing, if only we could find out something that could give us a lead." Kuroko sighed.

"Well I don't know if this will help but there's a blog online that talks about it." Saten offered as the two enforcement officers turned to her.

"What blog." They growled as Saten gave a nervous laugh.

"Um well I-"

"Here Saten, does look like it?"

"Ah there it is."

"Nicely done Uiharu." Twilight smiled.

"Now if we can just get a hold of their identity." Kuroko said thinking.

"I don't know about their identity but they seem to hang out a lot at this place." Uiharu said pointing to a message that said Jona G.

"Awesome, thanks a lot Uiharu." Misaka said jumping up and heading for the door.

"I'm going to look into it! Oh and get well soon." She said heading out the door as Kuroko and Twilight sighed.

"You better go after her Kuroko, I'm going to report this to Anti-Skill." Twilight said teleporting away along with Kuroko.

"SISSY WAIT! THIS IS A JOB FOR ME NOT YOU! SISSY LISTEN TO ME WHEN I'M TALKING TO YOU!" Kuroko yelled chasing her friend.

"Well there they go." Uiharu sighed.

(Next Day, Mizuho Systems Hospital)

"I don't know all the details but Kaitabi Hatsuya lost consciousness while being questioned by Anti-Skill." Kuroko said with Misaka following behind her.

"The graviton bomber?" Misaka asked as they rushed through the halls of the hospital.

"Yes." Kuroko answered as they walked up to a couple of doctors.

"Kuroko Shirai with Judgement. How's he doing?" She asked showing her armband to the doctor.

"We're doing everything we can for him but at the moment it looks like he just simply lost consciousness and shows no signs of waking up." He reported.

"Um I don't know if this has anything to do with it but I punched him pretty hard in the face." Misaka said holding her up hand guilty.

"No, he doesn't show any signs of head trauma. He just simply lost consciousness." The doctor said.

"So you don't know what caused it at all or how long it will last?" Kuroko asked.

"There is something unusual, over the past week we've been getting patients in her with the same symptoms." He said showing them his clipboard that had the pyro user bank robber and the girl that attacked Kongo.

"I hate to admit it but this is beyond the capabilities of this hospital. So I called in a specialist." He said as they turned hearing someone come up behind them.

She had long wavy brown hair and deep bags under her eyes. She was wearing white long-sleeved shirt and a brown pencil skirt and always wears a long white coat which scientists usually wear inside the laboratory.

"Y-You again!?" Misaka stammered.

"Sorry to have kept you waiting. I'm Harumi Kiyama, I came to help with the affected patients." She droned.

(A few hours later)

"God it is so hot in here." Kuroko complained as she looked over at a sleeping Misaka with a slight glare.

'It wouldn't be if someone didn't over charge the electrical substation last night trying to show off.' She thought grumbling as she looked down the hall to see Dr. Harumi heading their way.

"Wake up Sissy! Come on wake up! Please open your eyes Sissy!" She stressed shaking her friend who wouldn't wake.

"Fine then, I guess I'll have to give you a taste of your own medicine." She said.

SMACK!

AHH!

"This is a surprise what are you two still doing here?" Dr.Harumi asked looking over at the two girls one with a frustrated look on her face while the other rubbed her head.

"Honestly. You sleep worse than Twi sometimes you know that?" Kuroko huffed.

"I just wanted to take a little nap is all." Misaka pouted rubbing her sore head.

"Anyway, we needed to ask you a few questions." Kuroko said getting a nod from the woman.

" I find it unbelievably hot in here." Dr.Harumi complained.

"It's the middle of summer shouldn't they turn on the air conditioning or something?" She asked as Kuroko glared at a innocent looking Misaka.

"I'm sorry but we had a power outage last night, not everything's been restored to normal." A nurse said passing by.

"I see so they're using emergency power for critical patients and equipment." Dr. Harumi said shrugging off her lab coat and beginning to unbutton her shirt.

"Seriously? Again?" Misaka said blushing.

"Your solution to this is to take off all your clothes!?" Kuroko yelled.

"Oh well then I didn't know it was that kind of hospital." They all turned around to see Twilight standing there in her Anti-Skill uniform.

"Well it's really hot in here." Kiyama pointed out as Kuroko began to rebutton her shirt.

"I understand that doctor but you can't go around naked." Twilight said waving to Misaka and gave a little smile to Kuroko.

"What if I leave my underwear on?" Kiyama asked.

"No." The three stated.

"So what are you doing here Twi." Misaka asked.

"I'm here to assist the good doctor in anyway she needs. I also have some questions on how we can help the patients since I can't seem to find anything wrong with them either and my abilities aren't working." Twilight said getting a nod from the now dressed woman.

"Of course. But its so hot." She said as they sighed.

(Cafe)

"Now I'd like to pick up where we left off. Why are swimsuits acceptable but underwear is not? The both show the same about of skin, so why is it not acceptable?" Kiyama asked as Twi, Kuroko, and Misaka gave her a deadpanned look.

"No, that isn't the point." They all said together as she sighed.

"Very well, this level upper. Can you tell me anything about it?" She asked as Twilight gave her a folder.

"This is everything we have on it so far, the only thing we found out is that somehow people are leveling up their abilities but at the cost of going into a coma a few weeks later as you've seen yourself." She said getting a nod from the doctor.

"I see so no new developments from what's already been given to me. Why come to me though?" She asked as Kuroko spoke up.

"As a leading cerebral doctor we suspect that this level upper is tampering with the victims brainwaves in some way. Once we find out how, we may need your help with it." She said getting a nod from the doctor.

"It'd be happy to help in anyway I can, but there is something that's been bothering me." She said looking out the window where Saten had her face pressed against the glass while Uiharu looked completely embarrassed.

"Who are those girls?"

(Moments later)

"So you're a brain doctor?" Uiharu asked sipping on her drink.

"Are you here to look at Twi's brain?" Saten asked getting a huff from Twilight.

"If anyone should have their brain checked it would be you Saten." Twilight said as Saten giggled.

"No she's here to help with the whole level upper investigation." Kuroko said as the other girl smiled.

"Oh well if that's the case." She trailed off trying to get something from her pocket.

"This is serious, Judgement and Anti-Skill have been ordered to take anyone with the level upper into custody. No exceptions." Twilight said seriously as Saten froze.

"Isn't that a bit overboard?" Uiharu asked.

"With the investigation still ongoing I can't tell you everything." Twilight said.

"The users are suffering some extreme side effects due to using it. So we've been ordered to take step to prevent that from happening anymore." Kuroko said sitting back in her seat.

"Besides, I think that anyone who uses a drug eventually turns to crime." She said getting a nod from Twilight.

"Eh, Saten were you going to say something?"Uiharu asked her friend who gave a nervous laugh.

"No nothing at all." She said bumping the table making her drink fall over and soaking Kiyama's stockings.

"OH! I'm SO sorry about that!" Saten cried as the woman got up out of her seat and began to pull her stockings off.

"It's alright, it only got on my stockings." She assured the blushing girl.

"WHAT DID WE TELL YOU ABOUT TAKING YOUR CLOTHES OFF IN PUBLIC!!!" Twilight and Kuroko yelled.

(Later outside the cafe.)

"Thank you so much for your help Doctor Kiyama." Kuroko said smiling.

"No, thank you. It's reminded me of when I was a teacher. Goodbye." She said heading to find her car.

"Well lets head back the office so we can get our own data compiled for the doctor." Kuroko said turning back to find Misaka and Saten gone.

"Hey where did Sissy and Saten go?" She asked as Twilight came out of the restaurant.

"Well I better get back to the office." She sighed looking at the setting sun before she looked Kuroko's back and grinned devilishly and slid her fingernails around Kuroko's ribs and interlocking them just under her A-cup breasts and leaned down next to Kuroko's ear.

"I'll see you later right?" She asked the stiff girl who gave a jerky nod before Twilight teleported away leaving a blushing girl behind.

"Uh, what was that all about Shirai?" Uiharu asked.

"Vixen." Kuroko mumbled while Uiharu cocked her head confused.

"Huh?"

(Next day, Judgement HQ)

"So hows everything coming?" Kuroko asked looking over Uiharu's shoulder.

"A lot of code and stuff but I did manage to find possible lever upper exchange sites." She said.

"Great job Uiharu, fax a set over to Anti-Skill so they can help with the takedowns." Kuroko said as she headed out the door just as Twilight teleported beside Uiharu.

"Hey Uiharu, did you get your data faxed over to Doctor Kiyama this morning?" Twilight asked stepping up beside her as she resumed typing.

"Yes, we got finished with it last night and I faxed it over to her this morning so we should be hearing something from her sometime this week." She said and handed her a copy of paper.

"What's this?"

"Possible exchange sites for the level upper, Shirai is already out there so if you want to get a jump on it while I fax this over to Anti-Skill then go ahead." She said.

"Great thanks Uiharu, this is why you're the best." Twilight said teleporting away as Uiharu blush smiling at the praise.

(Later that afternoon)

Kuroko sighed heading through a some abandoned buildings when she heard some people talk before a thump was heard along with laughter. Kuroko narrowed her eyes and headed towards the voices.

"You got a smart mouth you, don'tcha kid? But you also don't have any power. What right do you have to tell me what to do?" Kuroko hear as she rounded the corner to see Saten being held by a man.

He was is a tall, lean man who has light khaki-brown hair. He was also wearing various accessories on his ear and fingers. He was also missing a few front teeth and was wearing jeans and a black sleeveless shirt.

"So you think earned power and that makes you better than those below you. Well it doesn't. You're just a bunch of loser with no power at all. I am a officer of Judgement, come quietly and I won't have to use force." Kuroko said.

"Shirai's here?" Saten whimpered looking over at her friend.

"I'm placing you all under arrest for aggravated assault. Now cooperate." She ordered as his two lackies scoffed at her while one kicked a can at a wall.

"Please." He said walking towards her towering over the younger girl.

"One more little brat to deal with isn't going to make much a difference." He said laying a hand her shoulder.

"You should be careful, I've been running around all over the city looking for the level upper. And when I finally find what I'm looking for there's a bunch of thugs assaulting my friend." She glared up at the man.

"What are you talking about?!" He said as she put her hand on his chest before teleporting him high in the air and upside down making him land on his head.

"Look like today I'm going to be a health hazard to you." She said as the other minon ran at her using his ability to throw some pipes and other things at her only for her to teleport away and appearing above his head driving both her heels into the side of his head.

"Nice, teleportation. Can't say I've seen that ability before." The bigger goon said as Saten ran to a boy that they had been harassing and pulled him to safety.

"It seems like your disinterested." Kuroko said.

"Before the level upper. We used to be scared of you Judgement types. But things have changed, we're stronger." He said beginning to run at her as something about him shifted.

"Now that we've gotten stronger we'd like not more than to pound people like you into the ground!" He growled reaching her and trying to catch her only for her to teleport away.

"Well to bad you're going to- He vanished." She said surprised as she appeared were she thought was his back just as she heard footsteps behind her and spun around bringing her school bag that had her books in it up as a shield just as he landed a heavy kick into it.

'He must have snuck up behind me somehow.' She thought gathering her wits and faced him.

'Looks like I don't have a choice but to use these on him.' She thought pulling out one of her pins as he charged. She teleported one at him only for it to miss horribly.

"What how did it miss?" Kuroko asked herself stunned as the thug pulled and knife and swung at her back tracking in front of building with windowed walls.

'What's going on I can't anticipate his movements.' Kuroko thought as he charged her again throwing a kick at her as she pulled her bag up again to block near her face only for the kick to slam into her ribs with devastating force that sent her through the glass window.

"Haha! That was pretty cool! What you cracked one, two ribs?" He asked as he walking into the building just as she threw another pin at him that curved to the right away from him.

"What do you think you're doing girl?" He asked as she got up and ran into the building.

"What are we playing hide and seek now? That's fine by me but that means the girl and the fatty are mine. I'll just kill them." He called out to her walking at a leisurely pace.

(2nd floor)

'This building is condemned and scheduled for demolition, I won't be able to find anywhere safe to hide in here.' She thought moving around the second floor.

"At this point he should think I'm still on the first floor. But I can't let my guard down, I don't hear any sound." She said as she rounded a corner.

"Found you." Kuroko gasped as she looked up at the thug only to get a knee to the stomach that sent her sprawling on the ground.

"You know funny story is that this place is one of our hangout spots. I know every little thing about it, and in here sound resonates." He laughed watching her teleport away a floor above him making some of the ceiling fall out and could hear her running.

"Hey you heard what I said about sound right?" He called up to her.

(5th floor)

"Looks like you're finally tired of playin hide and seek. Alright girl, lets end this." He said holding out his knife about to charge her.

"You know I pity you. Your life is about to be snuffed out and you won't even know what did you in." He chuckled.

"I know more than you think. You distort the light around you and mislead peoples visual perception." She said as he laughed.

"Ohhh, so you figured it out?"

"Your legs swing around at an impossible angle, my pin trace an impossible path. Basically you project an image of yourself in another location so the focus is devoted away from your real body." She getting a smile from him.

"You like it? I call it Trick Art." He said as his seemed to shift to the left.

"Yeah pretty nice ability I have to admit but this is your last warning. Surrender now or I can't guarantee your safety." She said teleporting a piece of glass into one of the support beams before it shattered cutting the concrete pillar in two.

"Huh? What are you doing now girl?"

"Here's the thing about teleportation, if gives me the ability to displace matter from one place to another. An example of this is being able to cut through these steel reinforced columns with window glass. So this is your last chance drop your weapon and surrender. Or won't be responsible if you survive or not." She said with a straight face."

"You're kidding me right? I shouldn't be the one that's surrendering." He laughed.

"Then you leave me no choice." She said touching the window next to her and teleported it away as he charged at her while she ran teleporting each window till she came to a wall at the end hearing him laugh.

"What the hell are you doing girl? There's no where to run now." He sneered as she looked back at him with a smile.

"Do you know what happens to a building when all of it's support columns are destroyed? I'm sure you can make a educated guess right?" She asked as the building started shake.

"W-What? You wouldn't!" He cried as the floor began to crack and give way.

"YOU CAN'T DO THIS!" He screamed as the building collapsed throwing up dirt and debris everywhere.

"Hmph. I thought I over did it but I guess it doesn't matter really since it was going to be demolished anyway." Kuroko smiled holding onto the freaking out thug.

"Now I'll be taking that level upper off your hands if that's ok?" She smiled jerking his head back by the collar.

"GYAH!"

"Aw are you going to cry? There's still a couple of more building that we can help the workers destroy. I'm sure they would appreciate that." She said as he handed her a MP3 player.

"Really that's the best you can do is hand me this thing?" She asked as she heard Anti-Skill pull up.

"But the level upper, it's a song." He said as she looked at him shocked.

"Wha-What did you say?" She asked as she heard footsteps behind her.

"That's some good work Kuroko, good work." An Anti-Skill officer said holding a shield.

"We'll take over from here." He said as Kuroko looked around for her friend holding her side where the thug kicked her.

"Where did she get off to?"Kuroko asked herself before she felt someone poke her in the ribs.

"GYAH!"

"Looks like he did a real number on you." Kuroko spun around to see the disappointed look on Twilight's face. She was wearing her Anti-Skill uniform and armor along with her rifle a SIG-556 hanging from her chest.

"Imagine my surprise when I get a desperate phone call from Saten saying that you're facing off against some guy in a dilapidated building and was wounded. What do you have to say for yourself Shirai?" Twilight asked as the girl winced.

'Oh man she's really pissed. She only calls me Shirai now a days if I make her really mad.' Kuroko thought as she looked at Twilight's worried face.

"I'm sorry, I should have called for backup before rushing in." She said as Twilight sighed.

"Come on lets get you fixed up ok? Then I'll take you out for dinner for saving Saten." She smiled as the girl looked up at her shocked.

"You mean you're not mad anymore?" Kuroko asked as Twilight sighed.

"Of course I'm mad Kuroko but I'm more disappointed and scared than anything else. You're my first best friend since I got here and I don't know what I would do without you Kuroko. You don't have my regenerative ability so you can't fix wounds while walking down the street." Twilight said as she picked the girl up and headed to a waiting ambulance.
