While on a walk on the streets of Ponyville, Vincent van Colt and his old friends Watermelody bump into Comet Tail, and they tell the unicorn stallion about how they met in Vincent's and Fictionary's early days in Liverhoof. Their story tells us how Vincent slowly began to evolve into the stallion he is to this day, and what Watermelody's life was like before losing her job.

Meanwhile, at the prison of Canterlot Castle, a severely wounded Scattered Marbles escapes with the aid of two unicorns he's never met before. What do they want with him?
