The Pink Side of the Moon
Nobody wanted to go to Gummy's after party. Not only that, but all my friends had been avoiding me. Spike had said they didn't like me anymore, and that made me sad. I looked at Gummy. While most others would look and see nothing more than a blank faced alligator, I saw the sadness and disappointment in his eyes. While Ponyville didn't need me, Gummy did, and I promised Gummy a party. I felt sad, but now was not the time to show it. There was a friend in need, and that meant I had to try. I had to throw Gummy's party. But the thing was, a party had to have people in it. At least more than just me and Gummy. I glanced to a sack of flour, and got an idea. A crazy idea. I put on as big a smile as I could, which admittedly wasn't to great, and wrapped a party hat around the sack of flour. This could work.
"Thank you all so much for coming, it means so much to Gummy!" I said cheerfully. I looked at each of the "party goers" and smiled. I sped over to the bucket of turnips, and wiggled it.
"Could I have some more punch?" I made it say.
"Why of course you can have some more punch Mr. Turnip!" I sped off to the kitchen and sped back into the room with a stone chalice full of blue punch. I wonder if Rainbow Dash would've liked the flavor. My face contorted funny as I fought off the urge to frown. Moving on to the stack of rocks, I bounced them up and down as well.
"This is really one great party, you've really outdone yourself!"
"Why thank you Rocky", I answered myself.
"I'm having a delightful time as well!" I spoke for the dust bunny in the stool across from "Rocky."
"I'm so glad Sir Lintsalot." I twitched, fighting away the tears.
"Might I bother you for another slice of cake?"
"Anything for you Madam LeFlour."
"I'm just glad none of them ponies showed up!" Rocky stated angrily.
"Oh, they aren't so bad..." I replied. That was awfully mean for him to say.
"Not so bad? PALEASE! They're a bunch a losers!"
"Ah come on now, losers might be a little strong, don't you think?" This party was getting out of control.
"After the way they treated you? I say losers isn't strong enough." Sir Lintsalot responded. Good point.
"Well it was pretty rude..."
"Pretty rude? It was downright despicable!" Madam LeFlour yelled. Yeah!
"It was, wasn't it?" I spouted angrily.
"If I were you, I would never speak to any of them ever again." Mr. Turnip opinionated.
"You know what? I'm not gonna speak to them ever again!" I thought for a quick moment. "And I'm not gonna invite them to another party as long as I live! They don't deserve to be invited to my parties!" I twitched, not sure how to feel anymore. Anger seemed easiest. "Not after the way they've been acting!"
My friends at the table all cheered me on. It was great to be surrounded by them.
A squishy biting on my hind leg snapped me out of it. I looked at Gummy, who gave a concerned stare. "Guess I got a little carried away there, I'm sorry Gummy." I gave the little guy a hug. Pulling him away, I saw that he still held his worried gaze. I sighed, letting the smile on my face drop. "I guess I should at least find out why they've been avoiding me." Gummy's gaze softened. "Thanks Gummy."
My Pinkie senses had told me that my friends were at Sweet Apple Acres. So that was where I went. Now that I had a level head, I realized my friends probably did have their reasons to not come to my party. All I had to do was talk to them. Or so I thought. I had been at the side of the barn, when I heard voices from the open window.
"That mare throws way to many parties." That was Twilight's voice. Wait, were they talking about me? I stayed quiet as I listened.
I heard a dramatic sigh. "Yes, sometimes she can be a little, err... Over the top." Coming from Rarity, that meant something.
"Ah do feel bad about lying ta her." Applejack lied to me?
"The worst lie I've ever heard. Construction work? I mean come on." Spike too?
"I'm just glad she didn't find out about the party. That would really have been lame," Rainbow Dash thought I was too lame for a party? Wait, a party?
I glanced in the window. The barn was decorated with balloons and streamers, the five mares and dragon were sitting at a table all sipping some punch. I stepped away from the window.
"Oh, how could they! I can't believe this! They had a party without me! Without Pinkie! I mean you, you just don't do that!" I sighed as Gummy blinked sympathetically. "Oh, who cares, it's not like they need to follow that rule now. I mean, I Pinkamena Diane Pie made that rule, and If I Pinkamena Diane Pie am not there at all, then they don't have to follow the rule. It's a double win. They're fine with each other, and I'm fine not seeing them ever again!"
A knock at my door distracted me from my rant. I glanced to Gummy, who was bouncing on a balloon thoughtfully. I glared at the door, willing the pony on the other side to go away. When another knock came, I gave up, and opened it. The grey mailmare smiled a happy smile at me. "Mail's here Pinkie!"
"Thanks Derpy. Have a good day." I closed the door, not in the mood to talk with anypony. I put the mail onto the tabletop, which previously held my party of one. I sifted through it. a couple of thank you cards, and my November edition of Party Monthly. picking up the magazine, something slipped out. I picked it up. It was a flier that contained the monthly comtest. I chuckled. I never won theses, but it was always fun to scratch away the metallic stuff on the plastic. I picked it up. Upon closer examination, blue and white stars all over the black background, as well as eight words.
Ever wonder, what it's like on the moon?
What an odd question. I'll admit, sometimes when I was a filly, and I was feeling sad, I would pretend I was on the moon, with nobody to bother me but myself. It was still a fantasy of mine that I had every now and then. I flipped the flier over, to see the details.

The rest was warnings about certain health conditions, which I didn't have, and contest rules. I sighed, pulling a bit out, and began to scratch away the shiny material covering up the same as always losing words below it. "We're sorry, but you have lost, try again in next month's issue!" I quoted. From the angle I was scratching, I couldn't read the words, that began to appear. finally done scratching I looked at the familiar words. Wait a moment, We're doesn't begin with a C! I took a longer glance at the words.
'Congratulations! You are the lucky pony who has won the grand prize!' A couple of magical fireworks fired into the air, their mini explosions the only noise I could understand in my ears. A train ticket to Canterlot materialized in front of me, along with several instructions of what to do when I arrived. I stared at the first class ticket, stupefied. I shook myself out of it. The ticket was for a train that left in only a few hours! I had to be quick. I had to tell all my friends! They will--
"No. They're happy without me, they said so themselves." I thought out loud. "My little home, my little town, they don't need me. They all betrayed me anyways. My emotions have already gotten the better of me because of it. Them with their lies and crocodile smiles, no offence Gummy." My friend blinked in forgiveness. "When they're without me, it'll be easy for them to share their true opinions. And if they think they want me, the can pretend I'm there!" I started throwing things into a suitcase, as I continued my rant.
"They'll never see me again. Besides they really don't need me. Even without me, they have their other friends." My suitcase had everything I need, from my party cannon, to my toothbrush. I closed it and left the door, Gummy in tow.
They say that the moon is a place that all astronauts dream going to one day. Whatever those are. I found myself no different. I had also figured that being alone would be the answer to the anger and jealousy I felt towards my friends. It was perfect, I had found it. A place I could be alone, but not truly lost. A place where I could be happy, while away from my friends. Where I could breathe my own air, sharing it with none.
