Thinking

Previous Chapter

My lids opened slowly, as if I were still tired. I wasn't tired, at least... I didn't think I was. I gained my surrounding. I was in a hospital bed, an I.V in my ar-leg. I looked at the machine I was connected to. I had a pulse of 45. It alarmed me.

'Am I dying?!?!... Wait. I'm a Changeling... pony... thing. That's probably... Normal?' I thought to myself. I looked around the sterile room. It was much like the one I woke up in at first. It was a lot more... white than the green, though. The room had a desk, chair, light, and a table with different types of scalpels on it. My breath quickened. I didn't want to be anywhere near them.

"Uh-um. Is.. someone there??" I stammered. I realised that I was still in pony form. My wings were actually badly bent and bruised. They were strapped to my abdomen. I eeped as I heard the door open.

"So you are awake! It's great to see you well. How do you feel?" She asked in a sweet voice. There was a bead of sweat and a put on a small smile.

"I'm feeling, um, fine. How long have I been here?" I questioned, glancing at the table.

"Oh, only a few hours dear. You only had a few deep cuts, but you were overall ok. You babbled about how you couldn't fail at something, though, in your sleep. Do you feel rested enough?" She seemed concerned. I remembered my dream.

"Oh, no, sorry to startle you. I'm fine. I'm feeling quite well, actually!" I lied. I did no feel fine, I felt like I was dyeing- again! I still held the facade, though, for her sake and mine.

"Do you think you could walk? If so, we could let you out today. How does that sound?"

"That sounds good." I was relieved I could get out of here. I brushed the blanket aside and realised that I no longer had my cutie mark. Oh well, I am only around 13, at least look it. Most people don't know what there doing for the rest of there life until there doing it. I sat upright. I almost showed the pain on my face in the act. I slowly got off the bed. When my hoof touched the ground, it barely hurt. I was fairly surprised. I soon had all four hooves planted firmly on the ground. I started to walk.

"Ah, it seems you're in good shape. That good to see. With the condition you were in last night, I was thinking you weren't going to be able to even sit up!" She smiled. I felt a semi-bitter taste leave my tongue, replaced with a small sweet taste. Like a banana!

"Yeah, I feel better." I looked at my features in a mirror on the door. Covering most of my body was bloodied bandages. My mane was a light blue, in high contrast to my darker pink coat. My mane was long a straight. I guess I didn't spend much thought on it.

"Well, whenever you're ready, just walk out and tell the stallion at the front desk you're leaving. Until then, good bie."

"Uh, bie," she left the room. When I was sure she was far away, I tried out opening and closing the door with my hoof. It was difficult at first, but I eased into it. When I was finally able to open the door without a doubt, I left the room.

The hallway it lead out to was equally as exciting as the room. Serial white walls and floors. I sighed. I started my journey down the hall and out of the building. I made sure to tell the stallion I was leaving, and be gave me a medkit in case my wounds opened back up. He was nice.

Approaching the door, I realised that it was just a push door, nothing more. I was soon outside.

The outside world was so vibrant, so vivid. All the grass; green. The flowers were the prettiest you could imagine. It looked straight out of a child's book. I was amazed how bright everything was. I thought that I might have died and gone to heaven. That thought was crushed when I was bumped into by another pony.

"Ug, sorry." The pony remarked. She was quite brash, full of herself. I know I shouldn't judge, but she did just walk into someone with a large bandage around her barrel.

I coughed. "S-sorry. I, um..." I glanced at my wound. I knew this would make her look. And low and behold, it was bleeding again. Great. Just great.

"Oh, uh..." She laughed, realising what she had done. "Gotta go!" She was off in a dash.

I got up, yet slightly limped out of pain. She was in a rush, or running, or something! I shook it off. No need in being mad, over a pony I don't even know. I thought about where I should go next. It seems my facade had kept anyone from figuring out I'm a changeling, good. I actually was not hard to keep up this form. I was surprised that I wasn't getting negatively effected from staying like this.

I walked around for a while, in till I came upon a large Crystal castle. I was in shock at how it even supported its own weight. After I was done gawking at it, 2 ponys, who I recognized, came out.

"Do we need to go back? Really Twi?" Pinkie Pie complained.

"I know you don't want to, but we need to make sure there is no- oh, hello!" She replied to Pinkie, then to me.

"Oh, um... hi." I didn't know what to say. Should I thank them for saving the innocent, or be mad at them for hurting me?

"Ohmygoshyou'renewinponyvilleineedtothrowyouawelcometoponyvilleparty!" Pinkie pie said, almost getting 10 feet away before Twilight grabbed her with her magic.

"Are you feeling alright? I was with Fluttershy when we took you to the hospital." Twilight had a worried look on her face, and I had a semi sweet taste on my tongue.

"I'm... feeling good, thank you." My back legs were slightly shaking. I was extremely uncomfortable talking to people, or ponys, I don't know. I silently commanded my legs to stop.

A wave of relief cam over Twilight's face. "I need to go, but you can go see Fluttershy. I'm sure she'd love to see you're better."

After getting the directions, I wandered aimlessly for a while. I asked myself how I'd deal with seeing another pony and talking to her, and why I had to be so shy. I did have slight social anxiety as a human, but I guess not having any of my friends here magnifies that. I'm kinda glad they aren't here.

Then it hit me.

I'm dead in the human world. My friends all think I'm gone. My parents lost their child. My brothers lost their only sister. My stories that I was writing, never finished. Drawings I was doing, never uploaded. I held back the tears. I walked into the forest I came out of.

And I cried.
