Six ponies all sat on top of a hill, enjoying a nice picnic while Celestia's sun shined rays of light upon them. One of these ponies was named Twilight Sparkle, she was the new princess of this little town. The other ponies names were Rarity, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash. They were all having fun chatting and eating their meals with each other.
" Then she gave me the job of creating her another whole line of dresses for her dancers, can you believe it?," squealed Rarity as she spoke of her great news.
"Wow, Rarity that sounds nice," Fluttershy said in her signature hushed tone.
"Yeah Rarity, that's some mighty great news ya have there, y'all should be happy," piped Applejack.
"This calls for a PARTY!!!," screamed Pinkie Pie in excitement.
Everypony else nodded their head in agreement, except for Twilight, who's expression was one of extreme pain. The others stared at her before quickly running to her side.
"Twilight darling, are you alright? Whatever is the matter,?" Rarity said in a worried voice. What was wrong with Twilight? They were just talking about stuff until they saw her face.
Those thoughts were interrupted when Twilight slowly started whimpering in pure agony, tears now streaming down her cheeks. Every pony kept asking questions as their friend just lie there, holding her hoof to her mouth. Then blood started dripping at the corner of her lip, catching their attention. That is when Applejack stepped in front of her.
"We can't just sit here asking question, we gotta get Twilight to a doctor. Y'all go get some pony here quickly, ah will stay here with her, please hurry!," shouted Applejack as she went to check Twilight's mouth.
Everypony nodded and galloped away to the hospital. Applejack started looking over Twilight's mouth and got a tissue to clean the blood. Twilight still looked uncomfortable and in pain, but stopped her crying and whimpering. Applejack then began moving Twilight's hoof from her mouth and opened it to see what the problem was. That's when Applejack finally saw what it was. Twilight had broken one of her right teeth. Applejack also noticed how crooked all her teeth were, but she didn't have time to talk about that right now, she needed to help Twilight at least feel a little better.
"Twilight, ah need ya to drink some of this here water, ya here?," Applejack said calmly. Twilight quietly nodded her head, anything to help the pain.
So Twilight sat up and used her magical aura to grab the water out of Applejack's hoof and sipped it.
"Okay Twilight, feel any better?," Applejack said in a gentle voice,Twilight could only nod her head.
"Hey Applejack, we got Nurse Redheart!," Rainbow Dash shouted.
"Good! Just hurry, Twilight broke her tooth!," Applejack yelled back well she pet Twilight's head.
When Nurse Redheart finally got to Twilight, she helped her get up and began walking with her back to the hospital. The only thing the ponies could do now was wait until Twilight got back.

As Twilight entered the hospital, she looked around and saw many other ponies patiently waiting to be called on. The walls were their usual plain look, along with rooms and their numbers and doctors. Twilight was silently lead to a dentist area in the hospital. Nurse Redheart then placed Twilight on a chair and took out some tools. She didn't work on Twilight though, she walked out of the room. Twilight sat in a mix of confusion and pain, wondering where she had gone. That was the case until a new pony stepped into the room. Her mane was two distinct colors. They were a dark blue and the other was white. Her coat was of a light blue and her eyes shared the same dark blue. Her cutie mark was of a simple hourglass.
"Hi Princess Twilight Sparkle, my name is Colgate, today I am going to be fixing your broken tooth. So please relax as I work.," Colgate said as she got the tools that were places on the little, green table. She used her blue magic to pick up a mask with a tube attached to it. she placed it on Twilight's face and hooked it up to a anesthesia gas tank. Twilight then felt her eyelids droop until she was unconsciousness. Colgate opened Twilight's mouth and started working.

Twilight slowly opened her eyes and remembered where she was when she saw the face of Colgate smiling. Twilight still felt dizzy and light headed, but ignored it and tried getting up. That wasn't the best idea because she then fell to the blank, white floor.
"Oh my, Miss Twilight, are you alright? You shouldn't have gotten up yet, some of the anesthesia is still wearing off. So I must tell you some of the things that I had to do while I was working on your teeth. While I was working, I noticed your teeth were very crooked, so we had to give you braces or you would have trouble the older you got.," Colgate said, giving a very sorry look.
Twilight had finally got back up onto the chair and was now giving a very scared, worried, and shocked expression all mixed into one. What would her friends think? What would the other ponies think around town think? She was so going to be made fun of and not have any friends if they saw she had braces!
"Can you hoof me a mirror?," asked Twilight with a worried frown pasted on her face.
"Of course Miss, here you go."
"Thank you, Colgate."
Twilight took the mirror and looked at her reflection, opening her mouth. She saw silver all along her teeth, making her already bad frown worsen. She didn't care that her jaw was kind of sore, or even the fact she had braces, she couldn't care less how she looked. All she could think of was that her friends might not want to be her friends anymore. Maybe they cared how she looked, maybe they would be embarrassed of her. Would they still like her? She needs them, they're her best friends!
"Um... thank you Doctor.Colgate for helping me, I will be on my way.," Twilight said in a quiet manner.
"You're welcome, let me just sign you out......done! You are free to leave!"
Twilight made her way out of the hospital, making sure to keep her mouth closed the entire way out. When she got out of the building, she got one giant surprise from Pinkie Pie. Twilight jumped up when she saw her friend pop out of nowhere and yell
"SURPRISE!!! Were you surprised? Were ya, were ya?"
"Okay Pinkie Pie, give the girl some space, will ya? Twilight, sugarcube, y'all alright?," Applejack said in her usual tone.
"Oh... um, a-are you okay Twilight? We were all so worried, we were afraid you were very hurt, well um, n-n-not like a broken tooth wouldn't hurt, its just...," Fluttershy said, her worry showing on her face.
"What Fluttershy means to say was, are you okay Twilight? We thought you were dying or something!," yelled out Rainbow Dash.
"Rainbow Dash!," Rarity snapped, pulling her tail with her magic.
"Anyway, we all thought you were really hurt, are you alright?"
All Twilight did was nod to all their questions. She was not going to open her mouth, they can't know. She is never going to talk again, well at least until she can take these braces off.
"Twilight?," called out Pinkie Pie.
"What is wrong dear? Is your tooth okay?," questioned Rarity.
Twilight just nodded again and tried to escape, but Rainbow Dash went up in her face.
"Don't try running away from us, whats your problem?"
"Rainbow! Stop it right now!," yelled Rarity as she used her light blue aura to hold back Rainbow Dash.
By doing this, Twilight was able to gallop away, making everypony turn their heads in confusion. All they could do was watch as she ran away back to her castle.
Twilight quickly shut the door behind her. Her friends are on to her, they almost found out. She was lucky enough to get through town without any pony seeing her. Twilight silently walked to her new throne and sat in it, sighing. They almost trapped her, they almost saw her terrible secret. Twilight rubbed her head with her hoof.
"Spike, get in here!," Twilight yelled.
"I'm coming, gosh.," Spike huffed, eating a plate of nachos.
"Spike, this is not the time to be eating nachos! I need to go find a spell that will fix my teeth instead of needing these!," shouted Twilight, showing her new braces.
"Seriously? This is why your screaming? Wow, Twilight, its no big deal.," Spike said in a casual tone, chomping on another nacho.
"No Spike, it is a big deal! My friends might not want to be my friends anymore! They might leave me! I know I should've went to the dentist years ago, but my studies! They were so import-.," Spike put his hand over her mouth to stop her rambling.
"Stop it Twilight, your acting ridiculous! The girls wouldn't leave you for something so silly as some metal in your teeth. You are worrying about something that is barely even noticeable. You should really relax and have some nachos.," Spike said, taking a nacho and holding it up.
"First of all, I can't have nachos because the cheese with get stuck in my braces and second of all, it is a big deal! Lets go Spike, we're going to the sister's castle. Put those nachos down."
"No pony ever listens to the dragon.," Spike mumbled under his breath, putting his nachos in the garbage.

"What just happened?," asked Rainbow Dash as Rarity let go of her tail.
" Ah got know idea why Twilight just ran away from us.," said Applejack, still staring at the path Twilight ran away on.
"Does Twilight...hate us?," Pinkie Pie said, her mane starting to deflate and tears already running down her cheeks.
"No Pinkie, Twilight doesn't hate us, she just had something going on, I doubt she hates any of us.," Rarity said calmly, hugging Pinkie Pie.
"Poor Twilight, I wonder what happened that got her so upset. Maybe we should check with her doctor?," Fluttershy suggested.
"That's a good idea, Fluttershy, lets go see what happened.," Rarity said, already galloping towards the hospital.
Every pony nodded and followed Rarity's lead. They all ran through the hospital doors, hoping Twilight was okay.

"Come on, hurry up.," Twilight said with an annoyed voice. Spike was behind her and she wanted to get that spell quickly. She was going to look in the castle for a spell that fixes her teeth, well she was hoping for there to be a spell.
"You know Twilight, if they had a spell to fix your teeth, you wouldn't even have these braces.," Spike pointed out, running to Twilight's side.
Twilight stopped to think about it. Was there even a spell that could help her? Was Spike right? Was there really no spell and her friends wouldn't even care? No, there had to be a way to fix her teeth and her friends would care!
"Lets go Spike, there must be a spell!," Twilight insisted.
Twilight and Spike finally made it to the abandoned castle and entered it's ruins. Twilight immediately started searching through the books on their shelves. She kept looking, hoping to find the book she really wanted to exist. She looked for hours while Spike just watched her move around the rooms. The more time that passed, the more she knew Spike was right. She wouldn't stop though, she kept telling herself there was a way she could fix her problem. It was then reality finally caught up with her. She so badly wanted it all to not be true, just for there to be a way to help herself, but she gave up. She finally broke down crying on the dusty floor she stood on.
"My friends don't want some pony who would embarrass them, they want some pony who doesn't look stupid. Ponyville doesn't want some weird looking princess to lead them. Maybe I do care how I look and I know I look bad. Who wants some pony who looks like me? I'm just some ugly embarrassment.," said Twilight, her voice cracking.
"Twilight, what I think you should do is go to them and see for yourself. I don't think you look bad or weird. You have to stop doing this to yourself. Ponies shouldn't care how you look, they should like you for who you are, then they wouldn't be true friends.," Spike said in a hushed voice while he hugged Twilight.
"Spike?,"Twilight asked, wiping her eyes.
"Yes?," answered Spike, looking at Twilight.
"I love you.," she said, hugging him back.
"Me too.,"Spike said. The words she spoke caught him by surprise, but Twilight was like a mother to him, this made him happy.
"Well Twilight, you should go to them. I bet they won't even care, you must have them worried.," Spike whispered, letting go of Twilight.
Twilight got up and began to leave before saying;
"Thanks Spike, I really needed that."
"Your welcome."
Then Twilight flew up and went over the Everfree Forest and began looking for her best friends.

"Nurse Redheart, we need your assistance!," called Pinkie Pie as she ran to the front desk.
"Yes, may I help you?" asked Nurse Redheart, giving a kind smile.
"Yes, we do need your help. May I ask you about Twilight? What did they do to her while she was here?," asked Rarity.
"Oh, you mean Miss Sparkle? Why yes, her records here show she got her tooth fixed and had braces put in.," Nurse Redheart said kindly.
"Oh, thank you darling, we will all be on our way."
"Okay? Is that all you needed to know?.," questioned Nurse Redheart.
"Why yes it is. Lets go girls.," Rarity said, already heading out the door.
"Um....thank you.," Fluttershy whispered before following her friends.

"I can not believe this! That can not be it! There has to be more than just that!," Rarity shouted, a pout forming on her face.
"I didn't know she had to get braces! I should make her a braces party along with your party Rarity, but we can't do that until we find her...," Pinkie Pie trailed off, her eyes focusing on the ground.
"Ah think ah knew she had to get herself some braces, ah noticed how crooked her teeth looked when ah found out about her broken tooth.," Applejack admitted.
Every pony turned to her, but then looked back to the ground in defeat. All they really cared about was their friend and where she was.
"Girls! Over here!," Twilight flapped in front of the five ponies.
They all looked up and saw her, a smile on her face as she walked up to them.
"Twilight!," they all shouted, jumping on Twilight and hugging her.
"Oh Twilight, where were you? We all missed you so much!," Pinkie cried.
"Yeah, you egghead, where were you? Why did you run from us?," Rainbow Dash asked.
"Oh Twilight, you had us all so worried!," Fluttershy said.
"I didn't want you to leave me, I thought you would be embarrassed of me and break our friendship. So I went with Spike to the sisters castle to find a spell to fix my teeth, but hes made me realize you girls wouldn't leave me over something so silly.," Twilight finished, giving a sorry look and hugging back.
"Twi, Spike was right, we would never leave you over something as tiny as this. You mean more to us than some silly ole braces.," Applejack said, grinning.
"Yes, Twilight, you are so much more. It doesn't matter how you look. That"s a lot coming from me. Oh, and I think you look fantastic!," Rarity added. Every pony laughed.
" They look nice.," Fluttershy commented.
"Come on girls, lets go have that party!," Screamed Pinkie Pie.
Every pony walked side by side, enjoying each others company. Spike watched from the side,smiling as they disappeared from sight.
