It all started like a normal day. A normal bright and sunny day Ponyville. Until it happened. One simple thing. Who would have thought it could do so much damage?
“P- p- pink. . . Too much. . .w- way too much pink.”
This is their story.
“What do you think you are doing? Hey! Mr. Narrator Guy?! You call that narrating? That isn't narrating. Let me show you narrating.”
“This is their story. A story of how one day can be ruined by a single color. A story of how single pony can be more dangerous than the Lord of Chaos. A story of three young fillies trapped in a cycle of randomness and laughter. This is the story of the color Pink, and the pony who wore it. AND SHE WORE IT PROUDLY!!!”
Pinkie Pie rushed away from her strange encounter after she so effectively tore a hole in the fourth wall. The narrator passed out from the shock. He is still on the floor. Pretty sure he is still breathing. Eh, whatever. Oh look. Another pony is coming. No, wait, there are three ponies. Three fillies to be exact. I better go before they see me. Byes!
The three fillies came up to the obvious hole in the dimensional wall and peered through. They seemed to be very interested and have little else to do. So they looked in. I recognized them the moment I saw them. My three favorite little fillies. The Cutie Mark Crusaders!
“What happened here,” Sweetie Belle asked nopony in particular.
“Isn't it obvious,” Scootaloo said, “Obviously Rainbow Dash was practicing some super awesome, super spectacular, super amazing new move. And being as awesome as she is she was going to end it in a sonic rainboom. But then she got going so fast that instead of doing just a sonic rainboom she went right through the fourth wall. WHAM! That is what happened.”
“That is so NOT what happened,” Sweetie Belle said.
“How do you know,” Scootaloo asked accusingly.
“I'm with Sweetie Belle,” Apple Bloom said, “I don't think Rainbow Dash did this.”
“Fine,” Scootaloo said with a sigh, “Then what do you think happened?”
“I dunno,” Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle said in unison.
“Ooh, look,” Apple Bloom said excitedly, “Looks like there is a guy in here.”
Needless to say the three fillies were intrigued. One by one they jumped through the hole left in the middle of Ponyville. They found themselves in what appeared to be a booth of some sort. Scootaloo jumped down to the floor and poked the body of the guy laying there with her hoof.
“I think it's a human,” She said.
“Did somepony say 'human',” Lyra Heartstrings said as she poked her head into the hole.
“Hey now. Get outta here,” Apple Bloom said defensively, “This here is our break in the fabric of dimensional walls. You go and find your own.”
“Human,” Lyra questioned softly.
Apple Bloom stood at the edge of the hole and pointed a hoof away from it. Lyra head lowered and she walked off, disappointed that she could not see the human. All the sudden Sweetie Belle jumps up with Scootaloo in tow. She looked very excited and had some weird contraption on her head. She gestured at it and handed one to the other two fillies.
“Look what I found, girls,” She said with a huge smile.
“What are they,” Scootaloo asked.
“Headsets,” Sweetie Belle said, “I think the human was a narrator.”
“Cool. We should so narrate something,” Apple Bloom said.
The idea was all sorts of cool to the three young fillies. They all put on headsets and got ready to narrate. . . something. As soon as they got ready to speak, though, they realized that they were not quite sure what to say. What story should they tell? Did they really have any? Oh, yes. They did indeed have at least one story to be told.
“I got it,” Apple Bloom exclaimed with joy, “I know what story we can narrate.”
“Well spit it out,” Sweetie Belle said.
“We can all tell a story how awesome Ponyville is,” Apple Bloom said.
“And about all the awesome ponies that live here. It's perfect,” Scootaloo said, “Now are you both as ready for this as I am?”
“Cutie Mark Crusader Narrators, go!”
The three young fillies settled into three comfortable chairs that were conveniently located right there. The all raised a hoof as they shouted their signature saying. They always said it as they started a new adventure, or anything really that might help them discover their cutie marks. And like usual it was very loud and my ears still haven't stopped ringing.
And so it was set. Three young fillies. The Cutie Mark Crusaders. They would tell a story. Still not quite sure as to what it is about, but I am sure it will be good. It involved Pinkie Pie and the color pink. A lot of the color pink. In fact, I think it might have too much pink, but who am I to think these things? For all you know I am just a narrator narrating three ponies narrating in place of an unconscious narrator. But that is completely ridiculous, so it can't be true.
Or can it. . . . .
The day started off in a truly amazing way. Rainbow Dash did her usual thing and cleared the skies of any clouds. That way it would the normal clear and sunny day that Ponyville was used to. However, also doing her usual thing Rainbow Dash cleared the skies her own way. She landed on the ground in front of her three most loyal fans ever. She handed the one she liked the best- a young, but already really awesome little filly named Scootaloo- a stopwatch.
“That is so not what happened,” Sweetie Belle exclaimed.
“Will you just let me tell the story,” Scootaloo asked, annoyed.
“As long as you tell it the right way,” Sweetie Belle replied.
“I'm gonna tell the story my way. You can go next. Okay,” Scootaloo suggested.
“Fine,” Sweetie Belle agreed.
“Good heavens,” Apple Bloom proclaimed, “Can we just get back to the story already?”
“As I was saying,” Scootaloo continued.
Rainbow Dash had spent most of the morning already in the sky. She was positioning the clouds into just the right places. Each cloud had to be exactly where she wanted or else this would not work. So she tucked the last little bit of cloud into place, or at least she was trying to. This particular little cloud was being stubborn.
She pushed it back into the huge wall of clouds she had put together. As soon as she let go of the clouds it popped back out again. Alright. This happened sometimes with a lot of clouds that are put really close together. Normal, right? Wrong! She pushed the little cloud back in, and it popped back out again. Over and over and over, she tried to put the cloud in place, but it did not want to go in. Rainbow Dash was getting frustrated.
“Go in you little piece of. . . fluff,” She said through her teeth.
The little cloud did nothing. It was like it was mocking her. If it had a mouth it would have spit in her face. Rainbow Dash would not stand for that. She grabbed the little piece of fluff and threw it into the clouds as hard as she could.
“Now stay there or I will have Discord turn you into a cotton candy cloud that rains chocolate milk and then I will hand you over to Pinkie Pie,” She yelled at the cloud.
She didn't stay behind to see if the cloud actually listened to her or not. She was just sure that it did. She was super awesome like that. She did not even need to look back, but she was pretty sure the cloud was quivering.
As Rainbow Dash was getting ready to pull off one of her most awesomest tricks ever she noticed that she had attracted a crowd. If you can count three fillies who run the Ponyville Rainbow Dash fan club a crowd that is. It was enough. Rainbow Dash flew down and landed just a few paces away. She trotted up to them with her usual coolness and smiled. It was as obvious as it always was. She was the coolest pony ever!
“Hey. You guys are waiting for me to do something awesome, aren't you,” She said.
The three fillies nodded their heads simultane- simul- at the same time. As soon as they had seen Rainbow Dash in the sky moving clouds instead clearing them they knew she was going to do something cool.
“Well then, you are just in time,” Rainbow Dash said right before taking off.
She left the ground faster than a speeding train. Her hooves were in the air in less than a second. She flew up to the big mass of clouds in the sky, pausing for just a moment to psych herself up. With an 'Aw yeah!' she flew around the big cloud mass. She circled it at least a dozen times. And then she made her move.
At the speed she was going, it was only her who could have pulled this off. Any other pony who tried it would have spiraled out of control and crashed, but not Rainbow Dash. She was the best flier ever. In a blue bur of movement she darted into the giant cloud. She stayed inside the giant cloud for a little while. Only a few flashes of rainbow colors let anypony know she was alright. And then she came back out. She was moving so fast that it seemed like a sonic rainboom was about to happen. But it didn't. Instead, Rainbow Dash had collected the water from the clouds and was drawing with it in the sky. She flew a straight line and then took a sharp turn, and then another line and another turn. She did this over and over again until a shape took form. You could only really tell from below. Rainbow Dash had just drawn her cutie mark in the sky. Made from clouds and rainbows, her cutie mark now shined brightly in the sunny skies of Ponyville. Little did anypony know, that was the last time it would shine so brightly in Ponyville.
“That ain't right, Scootaloo,” Apple Bloom said, “Ponyville is shining right now.”
“Well, yeah, of course,” Scootaloo said, “It was all fixed and stuff. Remember?”
“I get the feeling that what I 'member ain't what you 'member,” Apple Bloom responded.
“Well, too bad! This is my story, and I am going to tell it how I want,” Scootaloo said, “And it will be awesome and you will like it.”
“Just leave it alone, Apple Bloom,” Sweetie Belle said, “You will get a chance to tell the actual story the way it really happened later.”
“I hope so,” Apple Bloom said, “This here don't make a plum bit of sense.”
“As I was saying,” Scootaloo said, a bit annoyed.
Rainbow Dash would soon find out that there were some clouds who would not listen. No, wait she already knew that. Hold up. Let me check the dang script. . . tick tock. . . tick tock. . . AHA! There it is. Rainbow Dash-
“You have a script,” Sweetie Belle asked, puzzled beyond belief.
“You don't,” Was all Scootaloo said in response.
Rainbow Dash would soon find out that some clouds were almost as fearless as her. For starters they were not afraid of her. Secondly, this cloud was not afraid of Pinkie Pie. And there is only one thing to do with a stubborn cloud.
Rainbow Dash saw as she flew her cutie mark pattern for the hundredth time that a small piece of the giant cloud had broken off and was leisurely drifting away. Not on her watch! She reached the giant cloud and once again, but did not follow the pattern again. One hundred times was enough. Instead she broke through the cloud wall like a raging Pegasus. She flew up and over the cloud in an amazing circular move. She was coming up on the cloud now. It was only then that she realized she recognized that little cloud.
“You,” She said aggressively, “You had your chance. Time to take out the fluffy trash.”
Rainbow Dash had the target in her sights. She locked on to it. With one burst of speed she launched herself at the cloud. Hoof met fluff. Pony met cloud. Cloud went poof. And then the cloud was no more. Rainbow Dash celebrated her victory over the stubborn cloud.
“Hey, isn't this supposed to a story about Ponyville,” Sweetie Belle asked.
“I'm getting there,” Scootaloo said, “But I can't leave out any of Rainbow Dash's awesomeness. Not a single bit of it.”
“I don't know about any of you, but I am liking the story just fine as it is.”
The voice did not come from any of the cutie mark crusaders. In fact, they were as startled as I was to hear it. At first, they could not figure out where it was coming from. They checked all the low places they could find when they jumped down from the chairs. All they found was dust, a few dozen pencils and pens, several plushy dolls that resembled the citizens of Equestria, dented pop cans, several more random feathers of varying sizes and colors, and last but not least they found nothing at all. The voice did not come from anywhere down there. They looked low. So I guess there was only one other direction to look. They three fillies all looked at one another before raising their heads toward the ceiling. They all saw a strange white, fluff like object hanging around near the ceiling.
“Hey, what's up?”
Rainbow Dash's head darted out from on top of the cloud. Apparently, she had been there for quite some time. How had they not noticed? That is an unfair question. I didn't even notice until she spoke. It startled me too. I nearly jumped out from my hiding spot, and ran for the hills then and there.
“Rainbow Dash,” Scootaloo said with excitement, “What are you doing here?”
“I was just laying on this here cloud taking my daily third nap of the day and drifting along. At some point I drifted in here. I heard you telling that awesome story about how awesome I am. Keep going. I want to hear the rest.”
The three young fillies all jumped back up into the seats. Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom settled in while Scootaloo got right back into her story. She was more excited now than she was before. Rainbow Dash always had that effect on her. Oh well.
Rainbow Dash was so caught up in celebrating her victory over the stubborn little cloud that would not listen to her that she never noticed the impending disaster that was about to unfold. It was coming closer, and closer, and closer, and closer, and closer. It was closing in fast. Or rather, Rainbow Dash was. She so busy congratulating herself that she failed to notice the ground that was not very far beneath her. By the time she did notice there was nothing she could do. Try as she might she was going to crash.
“I'm not liking this story much anymore,” Rainbow Dash said.
The ground was coming up fast and it was clear that Rainbow Dash was going to hit. Like a rainbow colored comet she fell from the sky. However, unlike a rainbow colored comet, she did not cause much destruction as she crashed into Ponyville. Well, it's more like she crashed through Ponyville. You see, Rainbow Dash actually hit the ground near the cottage where Fluttershy lived.
Near the top most point of a steep hill is where Rainbow Dash hit. Her front hooves just barely grazed the hill, but that was enough. She tumbled forward in downward spiral from which she could not recover. Hoof over wing. Tail over head. Mane over flank. Rainbow Dash tumbled and rolled all the way down that steep hill. She was on such a roll that she ended rolling all the way into Ponyville.
“I am really not liking this story anymore,” Rainbow Dash moaned.
Rainbow Dash finally stopped near the central park in Ponyville. Unfortunately, she was not aware that another Pegasus there was causing trouble. A certain yellow maned, gray coated pony with unfocused eyes that were staring in two separate directions was there. What was she doing there to cause so much trouble? A fair question, with a hilarious answer. She was chasing her own tail. At some point during her day, she got something caught in her tail and it was dragging behind her. Of course, she had to try and get it somehow. And of course, the only logical thing to do was to chase her tail until she got it. So she did. She ended up flying in so many circles that a small tornado had formed and was tearing down the park in Ponyville. Luckily, Rainbow Dash was there to save the day.
As soon as she stopped in the park she shook off her tumble with a few dozen rounds of pacing and swaying side to side. It seemed to work, because the next thing she did was dive headlong into the abyss that was the Derpnado- even though she actually went in flank first and screaming.
“I was not screaming,” Rainbow Dash protested.
It was unclear to the ponies that watched as the courageous Rainbow Dash entered the Derpnado. All they could see was flashes of her fabulous blue coat, and small glimpses of the other colors that made up her mane.
After many intense minutes of silence the Derpnado was finally defeated. Derpy came flying out of her own creation and it was clear it was not her choice. She slammed headlong into the closest tree and fell to the ground. She landed with her tail between her legs and with something still stuck to it. She reached out and place both front hooves on her tail.
“Gotcha,” She said happily.
Yes. Even she could have a victory when Rainbow Dash was around. But she would not be around for long. For Rainbow Dash still had one thing to do to protect Ponyville. From inside the Derpnado itself she was able to steer it away from town and towards the Everfree Forest. How amazing is that?! Along the way she leaped out and away from the raging Derpnado. She landed in none other than Sweet Apple Acres.
Applejack was busy trying to retrieve the hat she always wore. A strong gust of wind had come from out of nowhere and blown her hat clean off her head. She chased it down all the way to a tree. Not just any tree, but the tallest pine on the farm. It was at the very top. She pulled her lasso out and got it around the tip of the tree with no problem at all. She had one end of the lasso at the tree and gave the other end to Big Macintosh. He took it in his mouth and used his natural strength to bend the tree down to their level.
“Now don't let go of that there rope Big Mac,” Applejack said.
Yeah right. Like he was going to let go. He was the strongest pony in all of Ponyville. That strength was tested. Rainbow Dash came down and landed right on the tree. Big Mac had to use all his strength the keep the rope from slipping out of his mouth.
“Well, howdy there Rainbow Dash,” Applejack said.
“Hey there, Applejack,” Rainbow Dash said weakly, “I found your hat in this tree.”
“Thank ya much. I been looking for that,” Applejack said, “Oh, and I saw your trick in town earlier today. Gotta admit, that was pretty cool.”
“Eeyup,” Big Mac agreed right before his eyes went wide, “Oh no.”
He looked back at Rainbow Dash just in time to see her disappear. One moment she was there, and the next she was gone. Also, much to Big Mac's surprise the tree had two victims. When he pulled the treetop down a stray branch got underneath Big Mac. Right between his four legs. When he released the tree and it snapped back. Well, I will just say that his screams were as high as Rainbow Dash's.
“Ouch,” Sweetie Belle said, “That sounds like it would hurt.”
“It sure did, little filly.”
“Applejack,” Apple Bloom shouted, “What you doing here?”
“Why I saw y'all over in this here hole in the dimensional rift that separates the walls of reality and I just had to see what you all were up to. Then I heard that story and I just had to stay and listen,” Applejack stated.
“Hey, sis, did that really happen to Big Mac,” Apple Bloom asked with clear worry in her voice.
“Sure did, lil sis. He has been sitting on a bed of ice for three days, and he still sounds like you Apple Bloom,” Applejack said, “But I wouldn't worry. He'll be back to his old self faster than Pinkie Pie chasing a cotton candy cloud that rains chocolate milk.”
“Can I get back to my story now,” Scootaloo asked.
Because of Big Mac and his big mouth Rainbow Dash was sent flying in a whole new way. She landed on a tree, and when that snapped back she was sent through the air like a cannonball. But this was not as bad as it seemed. Fortunately, she was sent right home. An open window let her fly right in, and she seemed to do a lot of celebrating after that. It was noisy for the next few minutes and then it got all quiet. She must have been really tired after her long day of awesomeness and helping out other ponies. I'm not really sure what happened, but I'm guessing that Rainbow Dash crawled into bed and got some rest.
“That story had nothing to do with Ponyville,” Apple Bloom stated flatly.
“Wait a minute. We were supposed to be telling a story about Ponyville,” Scootaloo asked.
“Were you listening at all earlier,” Sweetie Belle said accusingly.
“No. I was telling a story about Rainbow Dash,” Scootaloo replied.
“Well, she is an awesome pony that lives in Ponyville,” Rainbow Dash said, “That counts, right?”
“I guess so,” Sweetie Belle said with a smile, “But now it is my turn to tell a story.”
Ponyville is a great place. No, its an amazing place. No, it is not even that. It is stupendous, incredible, and overall one of the best places in all of Equestria.
This is due to many things. The food is amazing. The ponies are great. It is easy to make friends here. There might be one thing that is lacking here in Ponyville, but it is only in the slightest bit. One pony says it it the culture, or the fashion. I do not agree. In my opinion the one thing that Ponyville is lacking is adventure! Nothing ever happens in Ponyville, and when it does it always happens to the older ponies. My sister, Rarity is one such pony. However, not every adventure for them is a good one. Not every adventure takes them to far away places. Some just stay here in Ponyville. Like this one time, when my sister Rarity had the worst day of her life.
It was a normal day for her. Rarity was busy with her normal routine. The same thing, all day and every day. Fashion, fashion, fashion! Dresses, hats, coats, and capes. She did it all. She spent most of her time on it. But every now and then, she got stuck.
This time was the worst she had ever gotten. It been at least three days since she created some new piece of clothing. She tried, of course, but nothing was coming to her. I was there for all of it. Not all for the better. I had to watch Rarity slowly and surely unravel as the days went on.
“What are you talking about,” Scootaloo asked, “I don't get a word you're saying.”
“I'm with Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle,” Apple Bloom said, “Talk normal like, already.”
“Excuse me,” Sweetie Belle said, “I can't help it if was I taught a proper vocabulary.”
“Well, put it away and talk like the rest of us,” Scootaloo said.
Sweetie Belle was clearly annoyed. This happened with Rarity a lot. She often used words that other ponies didn't always understand. Then she had to explain it to them. And now it was Sweetie Belle's turn. But she did as Scootaloo suggested and threw out her vocabulary. She literally threw it out. She reached behind her into the darkness and pulled out several rectangular boards. They were all painted white and covered in words, back and front. Sweetie Belle pulled them up and held them above her head for a moment before throwing them out into the Ponyville public.
“There, you hungry now,” She asked Scootaloo.
“What? Am I hungry? What are you talking about,” Scootaloo responded.
“I will start walking normal now,” Sweetie Belle said.
“Walkin'? You are sitting in a chair right now. What walking are you talking about,” Apple Bloom said.
“Excuse me,” Fluttershy said, “Excuse me. I think somepony dropped something.”
Fluttershy slowly rose up to look inside the hole. She seemed to be weighed down by something. It was only after she flew up farther that they saw she was holding up some boards.
“My words,” Sweetie Belle exclaimed, “You lifted my words!”
“I'm sorry,” Fluttershy said, “I don't understand what you're saying.”
Sweetie Belle reached out and grabbed the white, words covered boards. She took them all in her small hooves and held them up to her face. Without warning she opened her mouth and took a large bite out of them. She chewed them a little before swallowing and talking again.
“Sorry about that,” She said, “I threw out a little too much of my vocabulary.”
“Ooh. This place looks very interesting,” Fluttershy said, “What are you all doing in here?”
“We're telling stories about Ponyville,” Apple Bloom said.
“Oh, that sounds like fun. Do you mind if I stay and listen to your stories,” Fluttershy asked.
“Why not? Everypony else is already here,” Scootaloo said back.
Fluttershy flew in to the hole in the wall and took a place up on the cloud next to Rainbow Dash. She got comfortable and settled in for the rest of Sweetie Belle's story. With all the ponies in here I am very surprised none of them have discovered my hiding spot yet.
“Now, if you all don't mind I would like to get back to my story,” Sweetie Belle stated.
Now, where was I. . . Oh, that's right. The worst day of Rarity's life. Some ponies could argue that any day without fashion is the worst day of her life, but that is not true. Well, it is a little true, but not this time. This time it was too much fashion. Too much color. Too much of a good thing.
“Sweetie Belle, darling,” Rarity called for her younger sister.
“I'm right behind you,” I said with an annoyed tone, “I have been standing here for an hour.”
“I'm sorry, Sweetie Belle,” Rarity said, “But you know how I get so caught up in my work. I sometimes forget that other ponies are around.”
Yeah. Right. Sometimes. It happened more times that either of us cared to admit, but it was okay. I understand that Rarity's work was important to her. Besides, on that particular day I was able to escape.
Rarity had loaded me up with a whole mess of cloth rolls, and string, lace, and beads, and anything else she could think of that had anything at all to do with making dresses. I'm surprised I was able to stand there for an hour like that. But then I was rescued. It was none other than the nicest and most amazing dragon in all of Ponyville. It was Spike! He saved me!
“'The nicest and most amazing dragon in all of Ponyville',” Apple Bloom repeated.
“You do realize that he is the only dragon in all of Ponyville,” Scootaloo said, “Don't you?”
“I'm dramatizing the story up a little,” Sweetie Belle said, “Just let me finish it, alright. Geez.”
Spike had come by the boutique for his weekly checkup on Rarity. He always did this. He always stopped by to see if Rarity needed help with anything. He has such a big crush on her. Everypony knows it. Everypony except Rarity now that I think about it. I don't think she has ever noticed Spike staring at her. Anyway, Spike opened the door to the boutique and I just knew he was there to help. Me. Help me. He was there to help me.
“Hello, Spike,” She said from under the dress she was working on.
“Hi Rarity,” Spike said as small hearts appeared in his eyes.
Rarity came out from under the dress and made her way over to Spike. She already had the whole day planned for him, and I could not let that happen. I had to escape this boutique of terror. And so I made my move.
I quickly ran out from under the mountain of clutter that Rarity had piled on me. I grabbed a nearby stool and put it where I was standing. Phase 1 complete. After that I raced over to Spike. He was floating just behind my sister as she was telling him what she wanted done around the boutique.
“And after that is done, I would like if you could please organize my inspiration room,” She said, “Is that okay with you Spike? I don't want you to get in over your head.”
“Actually, sis,” I said before Spike could speak, “Spike has already promised to help me and Scootaloo and Apple Bloom try and find our cutie mark today.”
“Uh, no I didn't,” Spike said.
“Can I talk to you for a second,” I said as she pulled Spike aside.
“What are you doing, Sweetie Belle,” Spike asked.
“I need to get out of here before Rarity buries me under another mountain of stuff,” I rambled on, “I won't be able to handle it. I'll go crazy. I'll start talking to myself. I won't be seen for days, weeks, years. Then I will be found, miraculously, by some brave pony, but I will be too far gone. I will have made a shelter out of old dresses and dish towels. I will have imaginary friends made out of the stuff that falls around me. I'll have an imaginary friend named Stevie who is actually just me in a broken mirror. I don't want an imaginary friend name Stevie that is just me in a broken mirror! Spike, you've got to help me!”
“Okay, okay. Just calm down,” Spike said, “With the way you overreact you are definitely Rarity's sister. But what am I supposed to do?”
“Just hang out with me and the girls all day,” Sweetie Belle said.
“And what do I get out of this,” Spike asked slyly.
“I know you have a crush on Rarity,” Sweetie Belle said with a devious tone.
Spike's eyes immediately went wide. A bright red color came from under his purple, scaly cheeks. He fidgeted with his tail a little bit, but did not respond.
“I can help you win her over,” Sweetie Belle said, “I know what she likes and what she does not like. So, do we have a deal?”
“You drive a hard bargain, little filly,” Spike said, “I'm in.”
“Hold on just one minute,” Rainbow Dash exclaimed, “Sweetie Belle, are you really saying that you set your sister up on a date? with Spike?”
“Why haven't we all heard about this,” Applejack asked.
“Because it did not end well,” Spike said.
He was just outside the little hole in the middle of Ponyville. He was not alone. Twilight was also there. It was strange. He seemed like the sad, heartbroken dragon that was to be expected. As for Twilight, she seemed stressed more than anything. It seemed to be more than just her job as the Princess of Friendship.
“You mean that you really did go on a date with Rarity,” Fluttershy said softly, “And it didn't go well?”
“Yeah, that is what he means,” Twilight said, “He has been doing nothing but moping about the library ever since. I thought that maybe some fresh air would do him so good.”
“And instead you hear me telling the very same story,” Sweetie Belle said apologetically.
“Unfortunately,” Twilight replied, “What are all even doing out here, in this thing?”
“For the hundredth time today,” Scootaloo shouted, “We are telling stories!”
“Oh, I love stories! Can I stay and listen,” Twilight asked eagerly.
Without saying anything Scootaloo pointed behind her. Twilight jumped in sat down next to Applejack. Spike fell off Twilight's back mid jump and hit the floor. He did not move. He just lay there.
“So why didn't this date between you and Rarity work out,” Applejack asked Spike.
“Go on Sweetie Belle,” Spike said, “You tell them.”
The two of us walked back over to Rarity. She had been admiring her mane in one of the many mirrors we have around the house the whole time they were talking. At lease she knows how to keep herself occupied for hours on end. She turned back to me and Spike as we got close.
“I'm really sorry, Rarity,” Spike started, “But I did actually promise the girls I would help them today. It completely slipped my mind.”
“That's okay Spike. There wasn't that much to do anyway,” Rarity said, “And I know how much it means to my little sister to find her cutie mark. So go on, and have fun.”
“Okay,” Spike said, “I'll stop by later today and make it up to you. Promise.”
“I'll be here,” Rarity said as she got back to working on her dresses.
Spike and I left the boutique as fast as we could. At least I did. I had to basically pull Spike out by his tail. His eyes were glued on my sister. Once the door was shut behind him and he couldn't see her any longer he snapped out of it. He went back to his totally cool purple self.
We talked a bit about what Rarity did and did not like as we walked through town. One thing we both agreed on quickly was that Rarity was high quality pony. She deserved only the highest quality of gifts. And if the date they were planning was going to be a success then the first thing they were going to need was flowers. And I knew just where to find some.
Roseluck. The best flowers in all of Ponyville came from her. Spike and I got to her stand in the market really fast after that. He was more excited than I thought about this date. But he was not very smart about it.
“Hey, Sweetie Belle. That's rude,” Twilight said.
“Once you hear the rest of it you'll agree,” Sweetie Belle told her.
We got to the flower stand and I had to coach him in how to pick out flowers. Spike immediately reached for some flowers when we got there. Mistake number one. You must always take the time to examine the flowers. Make sure they are not old and wilting. Of course none of them were because they all came from Roseluck. But still, it's a matter of etiquette.
Second mistake. The flowers he reached for were roses. ROSES!? Can you believe it? I had to smack his claws away. Unfortunately, one of is claws tore a line in one of the petals of one of the roses. Spike had to buy me a rose, but I didn't mind. One problem did arise when Spike asked me why roses were a 'No'. I glanced up at Roseluck when I had nothing to say. She had heard all of it so far and she was able to save the situation.
“You are buying flowers for Rarity, correct,” She said, “Then you do not want roses. Roses are the common symbol for love, in the form of a flower. Rarity is an uncommon pony. Do you really want to give an uncommon pony such a common flower?”
“What she said,” I told Spike when he looked at me.
And so we went through and looked at each and every kind of flower. And Roseluck had many, many flowers. I had to help find the perfect flower for the perfect date. Spike looked at all of them before finding the right ones. He found small yellow ones with black in the middle. He found large blue ones with white on the pedals. He found large orange ones with red stems and yellow dots. Even he knew they should never be sold, ever. He also found some really small white flowers that had a really strong smell. Too strong. We nearly passed out because they smelled too good. It took a long time, but we finally found the right flower.
It was beautiful. It was a thin flower with pink pedals that faded into purple near the tips. Spike got a dozen. He searched through his imaginary pockets and pulled out some bits. He gave them to Roseluck, she gave him the flowers, and we went on to our next task. Little did we know, that Rarity had already had enough flowers to last her for a while.
Rarity
After Spike and I left the boutique, Rarity continued working on her dresses. There was one in particular she was not letting anypony see until she was finished. But she couldn't finish it. Not without one key item. One key color to be exact. She could never find cloth of this color, so she always had to dye it herself. And the only pony who had the dye was not even a pony. She was a zebra. Zecora found a way to make the dye at home, and Rarity was always asking for more. That day was no different. Or so she thought.
The trip into the Everfree Forest was as uneventful as always. She hated the dirt path that she always had to take and the muck that was always around it, but this dye was worth it. Rarity found Zecora in her hut. She was mixing up some sort of brew. Rarity wasn't sure what it was, but she knew it was pink. It was casting a pink glow over everything.
“Hello, Zecora,” She said, “I've come by for another bottle of that amazing dye you make.”
“I am sorry, Rarity,” Zecora said, “But I do not have the dye ready. These past days I have been very busy. I must finish this potion for Pinkie.”
“Isn't there anything you can do? I am so close to finishing my work,” Rarity complained.
“Well, my brew does need to boil for a few hours,” Zecora said, “I suppose I can take you to find the flowers.”
“You make the dye from flowers,” Rarity said with puzzlement, “Of course you do. A color like that can only come from nature itself.”
Zecora led Rarity out of her hut and deeper into the Everfree Forest. It was not a very long walk. Soon, they entered a small grove where the trees grew tall and wild. The tree branches on top were parted and sunlight poured in. The grove was lit up and bright. As soon as the Rarity entered the grove she saw what she wanted. A whole patch of small, delicate, pink and purple flowers. They covered almost the entire ground of the grove. She raced up to them as fast as she could.
“That is the flower I require to make the dye,” Zecora stated, “But beware. This grove offers much danger to you and I.”
“Oh, Zecora. There is no need to be so dramatic,” Rarity said, “What can a bunch of beautiful flowers like these possibly do to us?”
Rarity was to busy smelling and admiring the flowers to see the answer to her question rising up around her. At one point the sunlight that was shining was blocked out. Rarity called out to Zecora to see if she knew anything about it. When she did not respond Rarity looked up to see what was wrong. Zecora was standing in the middle of the grove staring up at something behind Rarity. Rarity followed her eyes until she saw it. No, not it. Them. Until she saw them. Giant, towering plants with thick stalks and powerful buds. The pink and purple flowers had grown to become big pony eating monsters. Of course, for Rarity there was only one thing to do at a time like this.
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Scream. She screamed her horn off almost as she ran in circles around the grove. All the big flowers were trying to catch her and eat her. Zecora remained surprisingly calm.
“Keep them busy just a little bit longer,” Zecora shouted to Rarity, “And take this. It will make your magic a little bit stronger.”
Zecora tossed Rarity some strange artifact from her homeland, beyond the Everfree Forest. Rarity was not expecting this sudden falling object coming right at her. This small ring like object landed directly on Rarity's horn. Zecora was a good shot.
“Hmm. Ten points,” The zebra whispered to herself.
As for Rarity? Well, the ring on her horn completely messed her up. She was so stunned by the sheer beauty of the gems in this ring that she also forgot about the giant pony eating plants that wanted her. She was reminded by the tapping on her flank. When she turned to see who, or what, it was she saw a giant pink and purple flower. Once again she turned to her natural defense. Scream and run.
As Rarity was running a circle around the grove Zecora spent her time harvesting the small vibrant pink leaves that grew around the base of the giant plants. There were about a dozen at the base of each plant. Zecora went around to each of the plants and took their leaves. They were too busy chasing Rarity around to notice the zebra stealing their leaves. After nearly a dozen plants with a dozen leaves she had a dozen dozen of the leaves she needed for the dye. She returned the middle of the grove to wait for Rarity, but she never came. It was strange. Not the fact that Rarity join Zecora in the middle. No, it was the silence. Where was the screaming pony that she had come here with? Zecora found her with one of the flowers. She was half inside the bud and half out.
“Excuse me flower, but you need to put that pony down,” She said to the giant flower, “She has a boutique to run in town.”
The giant flower lowered its big head and slowly Rarity dripped from its pedal lips. She was covered from head to mid back in a gross, green, gooey stuff. She was traumatized. She just stayed there with a twitchy eye and a weird smile. And of course, when the flower realized it couldn't have Rarity it went for Zecora, but she was prepared. It lunged at her and she pulled out. . . leaves! Not just any leaves. The very same leaves she pulled off that very same plant. It saw the leaves and looked down at itself. When it saw no leaves were covering it the entire plant shuddered. It let out a high pitched shriek and grabbed some leaves off a nearby branch. It placed them where the other leaves were supposed to be and ducked behind a nearby bush. One by one the other plants did the same. The saw how naked they were and shrieked. Then they grabbed some leaves and ran away.
Zecora walked Rarity back to her hut and calmed her down. When she was returned to something like normal Zecora got to work on making the dye.
“Thank you much for distracting those flowers,” Zecora said while mixing up some ingredients, “But I am wondering. Why did you not use your powers?”
“Distracting,” Rarity repeated, somewhat annoyed, “Is that what you think I was doing? I was not distracting those flowers. I was running for my life away from them! They were trying to eat me.”
“Oh, Rarity. Those flowers were not trying to eat you. They merely wanted a kiss. They are Compliment Kiss flowers, and I am sure you are a pony they will miss,” Zecora said with a sly smile.
“Did you take me there knowing that I would compliment the flowers? Did you know they would chase me around looking for a kiss,” Rarity asked in bewilderment.
“That certainly is a mystery, my dearest Rarity. Now I have made your dye and I must insist that you leave. Goodbye,” Zecora said quickly.
She grabbed Rarity and opened her front door. She pushed Rarity out with the bottle of dye and closed the door behind her Stunned, Rarity just stood there for a moment. All of the sudden, Zecora was in front of her again. She reached up and took something off her horn.
“I need my ten points back,” Was all Zecora said before disappearing back into her hut.
All Rarity could do at that point was walk home. At least she had the dye.
Spike and Sweetie Belle
Back in Ponyville, Spike and I had just finished picking up the flowers. Roseluck wrapped them up so they were all nice and fancy and stuff. Perfect for Rarity. Spike took them and we started walking down the street. I still had my one rose that Spike had bought me.
“Is that where that came from,” Applejack asked.
“Applejack,” Sweetie Belle whined.
“What? I seen it at the clubhouse and all Apple Bloom had to say 'bout was that it was Sweetie Belle's and she had never seen her take care of a flower like that before. So it must have been from her crush,” Applejack said.
“Sweetie Belle,” Apple Bloom said, “Do you have a crush on Spike?”
“I don't wanna talk about it,” Sweetie Bell replied.
“Hey! Get back to the story already,” Rainbow Dash exlpoded, “This mushy stuff is boring and that story about Rarity is hilarious. Lets get back to that.”
Spike and I walked down the street for a while. We were trying to figure out where to go next. He still needed some fancy clothes, but we couldn't go and ask Rarity to make them. Then she would have known about the surprise date. So we went to the next best place. Spike had the brilliant idea to go to the only other pony in town who can make fancy clothes fast. She is so fast she practically make them appear out of thin air. Almost like magic. It was Twilight. She could give Spike a fancy tuxedo in a flash. We were sure of it. If she wasn't so busy all the time that is.
We walked past what was left of the library where Twilight used to live. There was barely anything there. Except for some strange light blue pony living in the basement. I only saw her for a moment, but I was sure it was Trixie. Spike refused to comment.
We got to the big crystal castle thing a moment later. Twilight was busy on her thrown with a bunch of other pones running around like crazy. When Twilight saw us she ordered them all away and the whole place was empty in the next two seconds.
“Hi, Sweetie Belle. Hi, Spike,” She said happily, “More flowers for Rarity?”
“Sure are, but we are not done yet,” I said to Twilight, “Do you have a spell that can give Spike some fancy clothes?”
“Oh, you are working on your magic. I am so proud of you, Sweetie Belle,” Twilight said even more happily.
Before I could correct Twilight she had already made a dozen books appear out of nowhere. They all fell around my hooves. I sighed a sigh a relief. I sighed to soon. I was looking down at the books when another one came and hit right in the back of my head. Nearly took my ear clean off. Thanks again for that, Twilight!
“I don't remember any of this,” Twilight whispered to Applejack.
When I recovered from the head injury I found out that I was being buried alive under a mountain of books. Twilight was was off to the side, talking to herself as the books came in. They fell all around me and Spike. Before we knew it, we were buried. Or at least I was. Spike managed to dodge most of the books. He had one stuck on his tail. That would teach Twilight to watch where she is throwing books. I was trapped under the book mountain with only a sliver of light coming in from the outside world. Spike looked in and saw me.
“Spike. I am going crazy,” I told him, “If I stay under here any longer I swear I will start talking to myself. I will have to make a shelter. Oh no! Where is Stevie? Spike! Where is the broken mirror? I can't find Stevie!”
This was much worse than Spike had thought. He ran over to Twilight, but she was busy. She just said something about an emergency that required her fullest attention.
“I remember that part,” Twilight said.
Spike returned to Sweetie Belle with nothing. I was curled up in a ball on the floor of her little cave in the mountain of books. My hoof twitched slightly and then I heard Spike's voice. I jumped up and ran over to the hole where we could talk. The only thing Spike had to say was bad news. It was at that moment that I had it. An idea. I was surrounded by spellbooks, and other various books on magic. Maybe one of them could help me escape my prison of pages. And so I began searching.
The first thirty books I checked had nothing at all. They were all about focusing and concentration and stuff I already knew. Spike tried to help, but there was not much he could from out there. I was on my own. It took a while. A long while. But I finally found it. The spell that could help me. I closed my eyes and focused. My horn flickered a few times before flaring up. I put all my energy into that spell. Just as I was about to release it I heard Spike. He was saying something, but I couldn't hear what exactly. I turned to look at him through the hole. That was a mistake.
The spell was cast and the bolt of magical energy that I released traveled right on through the hole. It bounced off of everything. The crystal ceilings. The crystal walls. The crystal ponies. There was only two, and it bounced off of them both. It was bouncing off of everything. I could not see the damage it was doing from inside my little cave, but I could hear the screams of the ponies outside. I tried to find a way to fix it when Spike shouted at me.
“Sweetie Belle. Look out,” He said.
Just then. The entire mountain of books. . . exploded. The floor shook and books fell all around me. Pages were flying everywhere. I screamed and ducked as the magical bolt bounced from book to book. And then it came for me. It was racing right for me. A straight line. That was all it was. I stood in fear as this magical bolt was coming right at me. Then something stood in the way. Somepony had blocked me from the bolt. No, not somepony. Some dragon. Spike had saved me from the magical bolt. The bolt hit his scales and there was a flash of light. When the light went away Spike was standing there in a tuxedo. It was as pink as the flowers and very nice. He had a big bow tie that was as purple as he was. He looked just like the fancy type that Rarity would go for. Perfect. Her spell had worked. Meanwhile, Rarity was having her own trouble with fancy clothing.
Rarity
She had gone immediately back home to the boutique after the whole flower kissing thing. She was still covered in that gooey, green slime stuff. She made it to the boutique with no trouble. She went straight for the bathroom and took a long, long shower. Trust me, she needed it. Apparently she never noticed the smell that came with the gooey, green slime stuff.
“How would you know if you were with Spike the whole time,” Scootaloo asked accusingly.
“Because,” Sweetie Belle started nervously, “Because Rarity told me. And because the entire boutique smelled awful for the next few days. It didn't seem to bother her, but it made me pass out almost as soon as I walked in.”
Now, as I was saying. . . Rarity had taken a long, long shower. After that she went about her daily routine for after her shower. She did her hair. That took about and forty-five minutes, and she was going fast. Then she made sure to make sure her hooves were okay and not marked up and worn from the dirt and the running. That took half an hour. Then she worked on her tail. That took about fifteen minutes. She didn't bother with her fake eyelashes. She didn't plan on going out again. So she got back to work.
She had been working on a whole new line of dresses for the past three weeks. It was almost complete. All she needed was this one last bottle of dye. After what she went through to get it she deserved it. She carried it out to her workshop and stood in front of all the dresses. Nearly complete.
She twisted the top of the bottle of dye A small purple puff of smoke came out. That was unusual. Hm, whatever. She went over to the dresses and held the bottle up. That was when she noticed the strange smell. It was coming from the bottle. She looked at for a moment and then sniffed the contents. A couple deep sniffs and the scent filled her nostrils. It was the same lovely scent of the flowers in the grove. None of the other bottles had smelled before. Hmm, whatever. She took one last sniff, and then she sneezed. She sneezed so hard that she moved back and the bottle flew through the air. She only moved back about an inch. The bottle of dye went much farther. It spun and spun as it flew through the air. The dye in the bottle went everywhere. It covered everything. Even Opal. That is why Opal is the only pink cat you will find in Ponyville.
Rarity recovered from her sneeze rather quickly, but it was not quick enough. She saw the bottle that had the dye spinning on the floor a few feet away. Empty. There was maybe a few drops left. Rarity looked around her shop in horror as she saw it. Pink. Pink everywhere. But it was more than that. She saw one of her new dresses. It was already pink before the dye, but she was sure the dye hit it. And it somehow changed the dress. As Rarity came closer to inspect the dress, it came alive. Alive, I say! The long sleeves of the dress reached out for her. They nearly had her, too, but she managed to get away. She screamed as she ran away. She ran for the door, but another dress was blocking her way. It was also from the new line of dresses. This one was bigger, frillier, and meaner. It pushed Rarity away from the door.
“Why does this keep happening to me,” Rarity screamed as she ran away.
She tried to run upstairs, but her path was blocked again. This time, by the rug. The rug came up from the floor and stared Rarity down. Like a snake it coiled around her. She had already screamed enough to last for the next month, so she did not scream as it took her back downstairs. The rug snake thing put her down in the middle of all her things. All of her dresses had come to life. They all stared at her as she got back on her hooves. One tried to get close.
“Get back! Get back, I tell you,” She said with a feisty attitude.
One of the dresses reached out a touched Rarity's tail. It was a light touch. Just a skim really. Right down Rarity's tail. She jumped up and turned around all at once. She now faced the directions of the dress that touched her tail.
“Who did that? Which one of you was it,” She asked.
As she was staring the dresses down another one touched her tail. It was not a light touch like the last one. This touch was harder. It almost tugged her tail. That would be mean. And she knew a mean dress. Rarity turned around and pounced like an angry Opal. Or a regular Opal. That cat is always angry. Her hooves found the dress that she wanted. It was the same mean, frilly dress that blocked the door.
“It was you, wasn't it,” She exclaimed crazily.
Just as she was going crazy on that dress another reached out and touched her tail. This touch was different from the first two. It was more a grab. It grabbed her tail, and placed a single drop on it. Rarity turned around to yell at the dresses, but was distracted. She saw a flash of pink by her tail. She chased her tail in one direction, and then the other direction. Finally, she sat down and caught her tail. She almost cried when she saw it. Her tail. Her pink tail.
“Who did this,” Rarity asked with evil intentions in her voice, “Which one of you was it?”
None of the dresses replied to her. Not that they could. They were just dresses after all. But they could have at least pointed another dress out. But they did not do that. They just stood there. Rarity stood there in anger over her pink tail. Some of the dresses seemed to find that funny.
“You think this is funny, do you,” Rarity said, “If you do not make this right I swear I will turn each one of you into a shade of brown so hideous that not even Celestia herself will have good things to say about it.”
The dresses all turned to one another. They were discussing what Rarity had proposed. No, what she had threatened. After a few minuted of talking to themselves the dresses came to a decision. Three rolls of ribbon, all tied together reached out with the bottle of dye. Rarity smiled as she saw it of course. That could fix everything. But it was empty. Why did they have it? She watched as the ribbon brought the dye to her, and then placed a single drop on her mane. Her smile immediately vanished.
“That is not what I meant,” Rarity shouted at the dresses.
They all continued to do their strange version of laughter. It was mostly pointing and falling over. Rarity got the message.
“You think is funny also,” She exclaimed, “Well then. Come on. Is there anything else you want to do? Anything else that you might find funny?”
Rarity was ready for anything, except for what came next. The first dress that tried to grab her came forward. It had the bottle of dye. Rarity was sure that it was empty, and it was. The dress threw the bottle to the side. And came up to Rarity and squeezed a sleeve over Rarity's nose. A few drops of dye came out and dropped onto Rarity. In just a second Rarity was pink all over. The dress retreated back into the crowd after that.
“That is it,” Rarity said evilly, “You are all going to get it now!”
She pounced once again, but not like an angry Opal. No, this was more like an angry timberwolf pouncing on prey. She jumped through the air and landed in the crowd. She started tearing and ripping at all the dresses. She used her hooves, her horn, her teeth, and whatever else she could find. I found out that day that my sister is not only good at the Art of the Dress, but she is also good at the Battle of the Dress. She did not even hear the knock on her door.
“You made that up. There is no way that really happened,” Apple Bloom said.
Sweetie Belle opened her mouth to say something, but she stopped. All together the three fillies looked out of the hole and around them.
“What y'all doing,” Applejack asked.
“This is normally when one of ya shows up and asks us why we're in this here hole,” Apple Bloom answered.
“Yeah, but there is no pony here,” Scootaloo said.
“Well, who's left,” Sweetie Belle said, “Rarity, but she is still hiding in the boutique because she is still pink.”
“Now that I think about it, is that why you have been sleeping over at my house,” Apple Bloom asked Sweetie Belle.
“Yeah. You have no idea how hard it is living with a crazy pink pony,” Sweetie Belle said.
“Have you met Pinkie Pie,” Twilight said sarcastically.
“I sure have,” Apple Bloom said, “And it is my turn to tell a story. It just so happens to be about a crazy pink pony, or maybe its about two. You will just have to listen up to find out.”
“Hey! I haven't finished my story yet,” Sweetie Belle said.
“I thought you were done,” Apple Bloom said, “With Rarity fighting the dresses and all that, what more is there to tell?”
“I have to tell how Spike got his little dragon heart broken by my sister,” Sweetie Belle responded.
Spike had just saved me from a blast of pure fanciness. I don't think I could have taken it. Rarity could without a blink, but I don't know about me. Spike took it just fine. He came out with a fancy pink tux and purple bow tie. Now that he was fancified it was time for him to move on. He had stashed the flowers in a vase on a windowsill. I was still recovering from the whole ordeal. Spike made sure I was okay, like a true gentledragon would. Then he left. He had to, or else he would be late. He grabbed the flowers and ran all the way to Rarity's shop. If only he knew what was there, what had happened to Rarity.
Spike got to the boutique in record time. Because he always recorded the time. He wanted to make sure that he could get to Rarity as fast as he possibly could to help her in any way. He did this many times, but this was not one of those times.
He walked up to the door and psyched himself up. He was about to ask the pony of his dreams out on a date. He took a deep breath full of courage and pinkness. He politely knocked on the door and waited for an answer. He heard something from inside after he knocked. It was a yell. He did not understand what was said, but he knew what pony it was. Rarity. He was about to open the door and charge in to save the day when he heard a huge crash. Another yell came from Rarity inside and a huge crash hit the door. Spike could not get it open after that. He stood there for a few minutes and listened to the noise inside. A few passing ponies heard it to, and quickly rushed past and moved on. After nearly half an hour of standing there the noise went away. Spike cautiously walked up to the door again, and knocked. Silence.
“Rarity? It's me, Spike,” Spike said through the door.
He heard some movement behind the door. He stepped back as it got closer to the door. The door slowly opened after a minute. It only opened a little, and Spike could only see her eyes because it was dark. It was definitely Rarity though.
“Hi Rarity,” Spike said, “I was wondering i- if maybe y- y- you wanted to go-”
Spike didn't even get the full sentence out as he stood there. The door quickly shut in his face. He heard Rarity scrambling around inside. She yelled at him to wait just a moment and she would be there. YES! Spike was ecstatic. But something did not seem right about Rarity. She was being very shy, and that wasn't like her at all. When she did come to the door again she opened only a little farther than before. It was just as dark inside the boutique as it was outside. Spike could only make out that the whole place was a huge mess. Is that what he heard before? He looked back at Rarity, or rather her eyes. That was all that was visible.
“I am sorry, Spike,” Rarity said, “But I cannot go with you this evening. I am not feeling quite myself at the moment.”
“Okay,” Spike said with disappointment, “Will you at least take the flowers I got for you?”
“You got me flowers? How thoughtful Spike,” Rarity said.
She opened the door a little bit more. Just enough for her to reach out and grab the flowers. That was all she was planning on doing, until she actually saw Spike. She saw the flowers in his hand. She saw the tux he was wearing. And she pounced. Not really. But she did go crazy and blast him. She saw him and she was reminded of the terrible flowers, and the dresses. Way to much pink. Way too much. She leaned in and blasted him with a powerful blast of magic that sent him halfway across Ponyville. He flew like a screaming comet and landed right next to me, of all ponies.
I was at Sugarcube Corner, helping myself to my third milkshake when Spike landed. He got up and shook off the bits and pieces of the tux he was wearing. He saw me there and just sighed.
“Didn't go too well, did it,” I said.
“Nope,” Spike replied.
“Join me for a milkshake,” I asked.
“Sure,” Spike replied.
“There. Now I am done with my story,” Sweetie Belle told Scootaloo.
“Really?! That is where you are going to end it,” Scootaloo proclaimed, “What about Rarity? And what happened to the bottle of dye that made it bring all those dresses to life? There a questions that need to be answered, Sweetie Belle!”
“You will just have to wait for my second story,” Sweetie Belle said, “I am working on it at home.”
“Besides, it is my turn to tell a story to y'all,” Apple Bloom said forcefully, “It just so happens to be about a crazy pink pony, or maybe it's about tw-”
“We all heard that before. Get to the story already,” Rainbow Dash said.
Author's Note
The part about Trixie living in the basement of the library where Twilight used to live is a reference to the story where she steals the deed to Golden Oaks Library. It is a great story. You should really look it up if you want a laugh.
My story is not like the other stories. It isn't about a single pony, or even a single zebra. No, my story is all about a color. A single color. This color is popular here in Ponyville. Sometimes it means laughter. Sometimes it just means crazy. But not this time. This time it means terror and destruction and poofiness. Can you guess what color it is?
“It's blue, like me,” Rainbow Dash blurted out.
“It's is not blue, Rainbow Dash,” Twilight said, “It is obviously a shade of purple.”
“Well, I reckon it'll be an orange, maybe,” Applejack guessed.
“Nope. You are all wrong,” Apple Bloom responded.
“Wait. Fluttershy didn't get a guess,” Scootaloo said, “Come on, Fluttershy, what do you think the color is?”
“Oh, I don't know, girls. There are so many colors. I just can't decide,” Fluttershy said in her soft voice.
“Oh, come now, my dear Fluttershy. It is just a simple guessing game. Every pony has to play.”
Just then the air shifted and in a poof of smoke a strange creature appeared. I have never before seen a creature such as that. I have a note in hear about it. It is a draco- dracon-. AH! I got it. It is a draconequus! Whatever that means. Eh. It is definitely a strange creature who seems to know Fluttershy. Also, I have noted that his name apparently, is Discord. How interesting.
“Fluttershy, my dear, dear, friend. Don't you want to play the game. It's really easy. Just guess the right color and you win a prize. Doesn't that sound like fun,” Discord said in his usual mocking manner.
“Discord,” Twilight said angrily, “What are you doing here?”
“Relax, Princess Twilight Grumple. Believe it or not I am here on official business for Celestia. You see, these hole in the dimensional wall have been popping up all over Equestria, and they are just causing all sorts of mischief. Much as it pains me to do so, I must close all of them.”
“Well, you can't close this one,” Apple Bloom said aggressively.
“Oh, and why not? Please, I am just dying to hear this,” Discord replied.
“Because, I am not done telling my story yet,” Apple Bloom explained.
“What?! You guys were enjoying story time and you didn't invite me,” Discord said as tear welled up in his eye, “Fine. I guess I will just go, and find some other dimensional hole to wallow in.”
“Oh, no. There is no need for that, Discord,” Fluttershy said softly, “You can stay as long as you want.”
“HOORAY,” Discord shouted as he conjured up a bunch of balloons and streamers and other party favors.
He teleported next to Fluttershy. Right in the middle of the cloud she was sharing with Rainbow Dash. Unfortunately, Dash was pushed off the cloud in the process. She rolled off and hit the floor right in front of me. If it were any pony else they might have found me.
“Hey! That was my cloud to begin with. Give it back,” Rainbow Dash said forcefully.
“Oh, but I have a much better cloud for you,” Discord said.
He snapped his fingers and a small picture appeared in his hands. He reached down and handed it Rainbow Dash. She took it in one hoof and looked at it. She was not pleased with what she saw.
“This is a picture of you, posing on a cloud,” She said flatly, “What am I supposed to do with this?”
“Lay on it, of course,” Discord teased, “That is what Pegasus ponies do, after all. Just look at Fluttershy. She's doing it right.”
Fluttershy tried to hide herself in the cloud as best she could. Rainbow Dash gave her an annoyed look. Ever since she and Discord became friends he was always favoring her. It was usually at the expense of the other ponies. This time was no different. Rainbow Dash knew there was no point in arguing so she just laid the picture on the floor. With a heavy sigh she laid on the picture.
“See? Now isn't that a much better cloud to lay on,” Discord said.
Rainbow Dash gave him an angry glare. She was about to get into an angry argument with him when she noticed something. . . strange. She was eye level with him. He was on her cloud, and now she was eye level with him. She looked down to find herself on a cloud, of all things. There was one thing that did annoy her, though. A cloud formation of Discord was wrapped around her cloud, just like in the picture. She sighed a heavy sigh again and turned to Apple Bloom.
“Keep going with your story, kid,” She said.
Okay. Since you none of you guessed the color that my story is about I will have to tell you. Pink. The color is pink. I gotta say, I'm surprised you didn't get it. With Pinkie Pie and all.
Speaking of Pinkie Pie, she is a major pony in my story. Actually, I guess you could say my whole story is about her. She is a pink pony, so I guess the whole pink color thing is right, too. But anyway, my story starts with a pink pony and a zebra.
Pinkie Pie raced through the Everfree Forest as fast as she could. Her pink hooves carried her over the dirt and the muck on her way to Zecora's hut. She got there in a record amount of time. Pinkie was screaming and hollering all the way there. Zecora could hear her coming from miles away. She was trying to meditate when Pinkie Pie crashed in through the window. She crashed in and rolled over to Zecora.
“AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH,” Pinkie sounded off, still screaming.
“AAHHH,” Zecora replied, “Pinkie Pie!? What are you doing here?”
“AH! Zecora I need your help! Something really bad has happened! It is badder than bad. It is the worst thing that could possibly happen to me! Do have any idea how bad this is,” Pinkie Pie shouted.
“Pinkie Pie. I have no idea what you are talking about,” Zecora said, “Now calm down and speak plain. Please, do not shout.”
“Zecora. This. Is. Serious,” Pinkie said seriously, “I am losing my color!”
Zecora looked up from Pinkie's face to her mane. She was right. The hair in her mane was indeed not quite as pink as it usually was. In fact, there was a small streak of it that was actually gray. Then, right before her very eyes, the gray began to spread.
“Pinkie Pie, what is happening to you? You are losing all your color. Pink one and pink two,” Zecora said with shock.
“I don't know! GASP! I only made two hundred and forty-three ponies laugh this week. That is way down from my usual number of laughs per day. I try and and I try, but maybe I didn't do enough. Could that be it?”
“Pinkie Pie, I do not know what is causing this change, but I may have something that can fix this, but it is equally strange,” Zecora said.
“What is it?! I will try anything. No matter how strange and/or crazy and/or insane and/or desperate,” Pinkie Pie said.
“I can make you a special brew that can put all the pink back into you,” Zecora said happily, “It will the most powerful brew I have brewed. But be warned. If it goes wrong we are all screwed!”
“Okay,” Pinkie said with a smile.
“Good. Now please, go home and stay there,” Zecora said, “Maybe you can find a funny hat to where.”
Pinkie Pie thanked Zecora for everything and left her hut. She hopped out and down the path back into Ponyville. That was Pinkie Pie, always hopping. Now it was time for Zecora to get to work. She had a lot of weird ingredients to collect for her special brew. Luckily she could find most of them in the Everfree Forest she called home.
The first one was a special flower that could only be found deep in the Everfree. It only blooms during the full moon, at midnight. And only during the fall season. Good thing it was fall at the time. So Zecora gathered up a few items that she would need. You know, the usual stuff. A map to find her way, a few torches, her walking staff, one mask to hide herself from unwary eyes, a few potions to protect herself. And of course, she couldn't forget the pink feathers. They were key.
She headed out in the next hour. First thing she did was head back from her house. She went deeper and deeper into the Everfree. She passed the ruins of the Castle of the Two Sisters within half an hour. That was the easy part. The hard part came after that. Ya see, the Everfree Forest got a lot thicker the farther you went in. It got a lot darker to. The trees grew closer together, and the leaves grew bigger. They blocked out almost all of the sunlight shining down.
Zecora lit one of the torches and continued movin' along. She pulled out the map and followed the directions. She kept goin' on til she found the area she was looking for. A small clearing in the middle of a bunch of trees that were all growing real close together. In the middle of the clearing was a great big ol' pile of dirt. And on top of this dirt was a flower. Just one flower. A single, lonely, white flower. Zecora walked up the pile of dirt and picked the flower. She placed it in her saddlebag and went back home. She had the first piece of her brew puzzle. Little did she know, the first piece was not going to be so easy to snag.
Once she picked the flower that big ol' pile of dirt it was began to move. The dirt moved and it turned out to not be dirt at all. Well, some of it was. On the top, ya know. But the rest of it was rocks. A whole mess of rocks that were alive, and moved on their own.
“Ooh! I've heard of those. They're called golems,” Twilight said excitedly.
“Thanks for that lesson there, Twilight,” Apple Blooms said, “But I already knew that. Zecora told me when she told me this story for the first time. The same story I am going to get back to now.”
This moving pile of rocks- called a golem- stood up from where it was sitting. It had been sitting there there for over a thousand years, and now it was awake. It looked at Zecora with glowing red gems for eyes. It was hungry. It had not eaten in over a thousand years, and it was planning on eating Zecora. Or so she thought.
The golem approached her with loud thuds for footsteps. Zecora quickly placed the flower in her bag and pulled out her staff. She was ready to fight.
“Stay back, creature of stone and rock. My skills with this staff will surely shock,” Zecora strongly pronounced.
“Calm yourself, zebra. I do not wish for a fight. Just an answer.”
The golem could speak? That was the first question on Zecora's mind. The next was about this answer it wanted. Although the golem was bigger, and heavier, and louder, and intelligent, she just knew it was not dangerous.
“Well then. You first need a question if it is an answer you crave,” Zecora said, “But please hurry. I have a pony friend to save.”
“Very well. Here is the question,” The golem stated, “What is the password?”
Zecora was stunned for a moment. She was expecting a riddle, or some sort of crazy puzzle. Heck, she was expecting a math story problem more than that question. She shook the stun off and turned back to the golem.
“What happens if I guess wrong,” She asked.
“Nothing. You get as many as tries as you need,” The golem answered.
“And if I get it right,” Zecora questioned.
“You get the flower that I have guarded for over a thousand years.”
Simple enough. All Zecora had to do was guess a password for a golem that had been waiting over a thousand years for it. Easy! She could do that. Ha. That's what she thought. She tried everything, and nothing was right.
“Is the password 'password',” She asked.
“No.”
“Pie. Blueberry. Apple. Banana. Cabbage. Tomato. Is it any of those? Is it even a food?”
“No.”
“Rose. Tulip. Daisy. Dandelion. Hydrangea. Rhododendron. Is it a flower?”
“No.”
“Can I get a hint? Please,” Zecora asked.
“No.”
“Rock. Boulder. Pebble. Feather. Egg. Goose. Zebra. Pony. Stripes. Bag. Potion. Stick. Leaf.”
Zecora continued to list on and on every single thing that popped into her head. Eventually, one of the words she said would have to be the right one. The problem was that she knew a lot of words. A lot of them. And she was going to go through them all it she had to. Luckily, being friends with Pinkie Pie gave her an advantage. She could stand there and say word after word after word for hours. And she did.
“Bread. Sandwich. Brew. Cauldron. Cider. Tree. Orchard. Land. Earth. Dirt. Dirty. Bath. Tired. Sleep. Bed. Home. House. Hut. Are any of those words the password?”
“No. No! NO!!”
“Is it more than one word then,” Zecora asked with clear aggravation.
“Yes.”
“Oh. For the love of- Why did you not tell me that before,” Zecora asked angrily.
“You did not ask.”
“Golem. I am going to turn you into a pile of pebbles unless you give me a hint!”
“Do not threaten me, zebra! Now guess the password or perish!”
“Oh, for Celestia's sake-”
“Yes. You have finally guessed it.”
“What?”
“You have guessed the password. You may now leave with the flower.”
“ARGGHH! I already had the flower! I have had it for nearly an hour,” Zecora screamed, “Do you mean to say that I stayed and played your game of silliness all this time. A game that was meaningless?!”
“It was not meaningless. I have not had such amusement in over a thousand years.”
“You are the worst guard ever,” Zecora stated flatly.
Finally, Zecora had overcome the challenge of the golem. Even though all she really had to do was walk away. But she didn't. She stayed and beat that darn golem at his own darn game. And now she was on her way back to her hut. She would just have to pick on one thing on the way.
Zecora needed one more thing before she could start brewing her special brew for Pinkie Pie. It was even more rare than the flower. Not really. It was just really hard to catch. It was a chicken. But not just any chicken. A pink feathered free range chicken that only lived in the Everfree Forest.
“Seriously,” Applejack interrupted, “Now I hear these stories are true, but really Apple Bloom? A pink feathered chicken? How are we supposed to believe that?”
“Fluttershy. If you would be so kind as to explain to my dear sister,” Apple Bloom said.
Discord snapped his fingers and a book appeared before Fluttershy. She scooped it up and leaned down to Applejack. Fluttershy then opened the book to a well worn page and showed Applejack the illustrations on that page. Applejack watched as Fluttershy flipped through many more pages before closing the book. After that she curled back up on her cloud with a smile on her face. Applejack, meanwhile, looked more confused than ever.
“Applejack, are you okay,” Twilight asked.
“Apparently there are such a thing as pink feathered free range chickens,” Applejack said blankly, “I am not sure what to believe anymore.”
As I was saying, Zecora needed one of these pink feathered free range chickens for her special brew. Well, all she really needed was the feathers, but those usually came with the chicken. She already had the pink feathers from her hut. She placed them all in her mohawk of a mane and did something no pony should ever see. EVER! I am serious. I just heard 'bout it and I am scarred for life. Zecora did the chicken dance.
That is right. She danced like a chicken for hours and hours. This was all on purpose of course. It was supposed to bring the chickens out of their hidey holes. And it worked. Slowly at first. Just one or two would poke their pink heads up through the tall grass and flowers. And then slowly one came out. It slowly came out into the same small clearing that Zecora was in. And it did something that every pony should see at least once. I just heard 'bout it and I want to go find one of these chickens now. It danced.
That is right ponies! The chicken danced.
“Now the chickens are dancing,” Applejack said questioningly, “Apple Bloom, this doesn't make a plum lick of sense.”
“Applejack, does Fluttershy need to bring out another book. Cause she gots lots of books. Lots of 'em are on pink chickens too,” Apple Bloom said with sass.
Applejack looked up at Fluttershy. She was still on the cloud with Discord, but she was looking down at Applejack. She pulled a book out of the cloud poof and showed it to Applejack. This time it was only a few pages, but they had the same effect on Applejack as the last book. She looked like she was one apple away from going completely crazy.
“Are you sure you're okay Applejack,” Twilight asked.
“Apparently there are pink chickens that can dance,” Applejack said, “My entire view of the world is changing. Twilight, I am not sure what to do.”
“You could try not interrupting my story,” Apple Bloom said, “That will give you some time to think, sis.”
Now, back to pink dancing chickens! It started with a tap of the foot. A small flutter of the wing. A light bobbing of the head. And before you know it, the chicken was dancing. It was not doing the same dance as Zecora, but it was dancing. At first it was just the one. It stayed that way for a while. That is, until more chickens showed up. Within an hour of that first chicken there was a whole big field of them. They were all dancing their tail feathers off. It was perfect. That was exactly what Zecora wanted.
You see, the pink in the feathers was the ingredient that would return the pink to Pinkie Pie. There are two problems though. The only way to take a feather from a pink chicken and live to tell about was to get them to remove it themselves. And the easiest way to do that was to get them to dance. Soooooo, while all the chickens were dancing Zecora snuck on through and swiped herself some pink feathers. That is where problem two comes in. The pink doesn't stay in the feathers long. The color fades pretty fast.
“If only I could capture a live chicken or two,” Zecora whispered to herself, “Then I would surely have enough pink to do what I do.”
And that is when she saw it. Many of the chickens had gone away by that point. But there was one, still dancing. It was trying to impress this female chicken with some nice dance moves. It was not working. Zecora locked her eyes on the chicken. She would have it. She got low to the ground and slowly got approached the chicken. When she was close enough, she pounced.
She flew out of the grass like Fluttershy when she is scared out of her wits. She came down in slow motion. The female chicken saw her and ran away. The other chicken did not. It turned just in time to see Zecora's stripes closin' in. It jumped up to avoid her. Zecora's hooves dug into the dirt. Her face bounced off the ground right before her body. She slid a little ways in the dust before looking up. The chicken was getting away.
“Get back here chicken,” She yelled after it.
She started chasing it. It would seem Zecora is a zebra of many talents. Potion master, magic teacher, and now: Chicken chaser. She ran faster than she ever had to chase that chicken. She ducked under branches and jumped over logs to chase that chicken. It was probably the most intense thing she had done all week. After who knows how long of chasing it she noticed something. The trees and the grass all looked familiar. Yes! She was chasing that chicken all the way back to her hut. And that is just what she did.
She got that chicken going right in the direction of her hut. It was trapped against the wall. It had nowhere to go, so it went through the window. Right into Zecora's home. Of course, Zecora jumped after it. Unfortunately, the window was just a bit too small. Her flank got stuck in the window. The chicken was staring up at her from the floor.
“Do not give me that look chicken,” She said sternly.
Zecora tried and tried and tried to free fer flank from that window. Unfortunately, it was lookin' like she was stuck for good. That is, until one very helpful pony came along when she did. The door burst open with a panicked pony behind it. Pinkie Rushed in with a huff and a puff.
“Zecora! Where are you? You have gotta help me! It's getting worse,” Pinkie screamed.
“I would like to help, Pinie Pie. I wish I could with all my luck. But it would seem that I am rather stuck,” Zecora told her.
Pinkie scanned the room to find the zebra to match the voice. She did not see her at first. And then she did. Her front half in the hut and her flank hanging out the window. Pinkie Pie did the only thing she could at the time. Laugh. She was rolling on the floor laughing while Zecora could do nothing but watch. That was when She noticed the open door.
“Pinkie Pie,” Zecora cried out, “Do not let the chicken escape. Close the door! It is the key to getting your pink back forever more.”
Immediately Pinkie's attitude changed. She stopped laughing first of all. She rolled under Zecora's hanging body. With a serious looking face she gave her a hoof salute. She sprang back to her hooves and hunted the chicken. When she saw it was almost to the door. Pinkie screamed and launched herself across the room. She landed just shy of the chicken, but the board under them was loose. Pinkie hit the floor and the board sent the chicken into the brew.
“That works,” Zecora said happily.
“Sweetness,” Pinkie said with a smile, “Now what do I do to get my color back?”
“Take the chicken out and stir the brew,” Zecora instructed her.
“Okay. Anything else,” Pinkie asked.
“Yes. There is one thing,” Zecora said, “GET ME OUT OF THIS WINDOW!!!”
“Alrighty then. No need to yell,” Pinkie replied, “Just let me stir this up first.”
Pinkie took a minute to reach down into the big cauldron that Zecora used for her brews. She searched for the chicken for a minute before pulling it out. It was now featherless. She opened the front door and kicked it out. Literally. She really did kick the chicken. No joke. Then she found one of Zecora's long handled spoons and began to stir. Before her eyes the brew turned a bright pink color. That was definitely enough to pink to put the pink back into Pinkie Pie. She was sure of it.
“Hey Zecora. This stuff smells really good,” Pinkie said.
She went in for a sniff of the brew and got more than she wanted for. The smell was too much for one pony. Pinkie could not take it all in at one time.
“Ah. . .Ahh. . .AAHHH. . . AHHHHCHHOOOOO!!!”
Pinkie sneezed a Pinkie sneeze and sent Zecora outside the hut again. At least she was out. She came around to the front door and entered her hut. Pinkie apologized as Zecora threw her out. She said to come back the next day. The brew would be done by then. And then Zecora closed her door.
She sighed a sigh of relief. Now it was time to relax and just finish her brew. She added more strange and weird ingredients to the brew after Pinkie left. A little bit of Heart's Desire. A dash of Pinkie's hair. Zecora never did explain where she got that from. Eh. Whatever. Next was a few more ingredients that I cannot even pronounce. I won't even try. I can tell you they were weird. There was jars of stuff and stuff she pulled out from hidden cupboards in the walls. It was weird. But Zecora was enjoying herself. She was finishing up her brew. Now she could relax for the rest of the day. Nope. That was not going to happen.
Rarity was there. Great. That was just what she needed. She knocked on the door and let herself in. Zecora heard her request with tired ears. It was just as she thought. Rarity needed another bottle of dye. The more Zecora thought about it the more it seemed like a good idea. Her brew needed to sit a while, so she had the time. She would take Rarity with her. Maybe it will stop her from pestering her every other day.
“Hey. Rarity is not like that,” Sweetie Belle complained.
“Zecora's words. I swear,” Apple Bloom said in her defense.
“Okay. Get back to your story, but hurry up. We already know this part from my story,” Sweetie Belle said.
So Zecora took Rarity out into the Everfree Forest. It was surprisingly easy to convince her to go out there. She really like that dye. However, Zecora knew that Rarity would not like the flowers the dye came from so much. And she was right! Rarity spent most of the time running in circles and screaming. She never even noticed Zecora moving about and collecting the leaves. And then they came back to Zecora's hut. Zecora took just a minute to whip up some of that special dye. With all the strange ingredients all laying around her hut it was kinda challenging finding a safe spot to put it all together. Zecora hoped everything was alright when she gave Rarity the dye and sent her off. Now all she had to do was wait til tomorrow. Then she could turn Pinkie Pie pink again.
Tomorrow came way to soon. Zecora got a lousy sleep in and she was awful tired. She rolled off he bed earlier than she wanted to, but there was a pony at her door. She was pretty sure she knew who it was. Pinkie Pie barged in before Zecora even got halfway to the door.
“Zecora! Is it done? Huh? Huh? Huh? I need it. I really need it. Look at me. I am almost pinkless! I want my pink back,” Pinkie Pie said as she started crying.
“Yes Pinkie, the brew is done. Now the crying can stop,” Zecora said with a wide yawn, “Now you must drink everything I give you, Every last drop.”
Pinkie Pie sat down and smiled widely. She was ready. She had been waiting for this for three days. Zecora took her long handled spoon and stirred the brew up a little. She had to make sure it was all good. It was. As she was stirring, though, Pinkie Pie came up and looked in the brew.
“Hey Zecora,” She said, “This still smells really good.”
Pinkie Pie leaned in for a big sniff again. And again she could not handle it. It was too much, even for her. She tried to stop it, but she could not do it. She unleashed a bigger sneeze than last time. It blew the top layer of the brew out of the pot and onto Zecora. Pinkie Pie wiped her nose and looked back at Zecora. She had a very disapproving look on her face.
“Hey, Zecora, you're pink now. Just like me! That is so totally awesome,” Pinkie Pie shouted.
“Drink,” Was all Zecora said in response.
With a big smile on her face Pinkie dunked her whole head into the big pot that had the brew in it. She kept her head under for a long time before coming back up for air. When she finally did her mane was pink again. The brew had worked. Pinkie came out all pinkified again. She had all her pinkness back, and Zecora had lost hers.
“Zecora, where did all your pink go? I thought we were gonna be Partners in Pink. We could go around painting Ponyville perplexingly pretty shades of pink,” Pinkie Pie said.
“You are more than enough pink for Ponyville,” Zecora said with a smile.
Pinkie Pie was about to respond when she felt something deep within her. She froze in place for a moment. She twitched a little as she tried to hold it in. But she sneezed again. But this time was different. A blast of pure pinkness came out of Pinkie Pie when she sneezed. It hit Zecora and turned her pinkness level back up to the max.
“Ugh. Zecora,” Pinkie said weakly, “I don't feel too good.”
When Zecora looked back over to Pinkie Pie she was on the floor. Pinkie was holding her stomach and complaining about her head hurting. This was not good. This should not have happened. Zecora mixed the brew up exactly right. What had she done wrong? She paced around her hut as she tried to figure out the answer. And then it came to her. Just as a shadow was looming right over her head.
“Too much pink,” Zecora whispered.
She turned to face Pinkie, but she was no longer there. Or at least, not the Pinkie Pie that every pony knows and loves. No this was a different Pinkie. She was bigger for one. Much bigger. She was now almost as tall as Zecora's entire hut. Her mane had grown out and grown wild. Same with her tail. And how she had these dark pink eyes and this deeper, almost evil voice.
“Pinkisaurus,” Zecora whispered in horror.
“Not enough pink,” Pinkisaurus screamed.
Zecora ducked as Pinkisaurus let out another blast of pure pinkness in her hut. It turned everything from the floor, to the cauldron, to the curtains pink. This was not good. This was going to upset the balance. She had to run. She had to warn Ponyville.
“Run! RUN! ALL YOU PONIES NEED TO RUN!!!”
“For the love of Celestia, who is interrupting now,” Apple Bloom exclaimed.
It was at that moment when a crazed pony like object slammed itself into the wall that had the dimensional hole in it. The ponies inside heard a loud thud and waited for whatever it was to recover. All the sudden a pink mohawk popped up from the bottom. Following that was a pink zebra. Zecora! She looked absolutely crazed. It was like she had just seen the very terrible and frightening future.
“That is because I have, Mr. Narrator! I have seen the future! And it is all PINK!!”
Just then all the others in the room looked down at me. They all just stared at me with wide eyes and open mouths. I'm thinking I should stop narrating now. It looks like they are getting kind of annoyed by it.
“We'll deal with you later, human,” Twilight started.
“Human,” Lyra said excitedly as her head popped up.
“But first, I think we all want to know what happened to Zecora,” Twilight finished.
“It was terrible. I was only trying to help Pinkie Pie. She was losing her color. But then. . .then my special brew. . . it turned her into some kind of monster. Pinkie Pie is gone. Now there is only. . . Pinkisaurus!”
“Oh please,” Discord said in disbelief, “That is obviously the most ridiculous story any of us have ever heard. I will give you props for commitment, though. How long did it take to paint your whole body pink?”
“That is just it,” Zecora screamed, “Now Pinkisaurus wants nothing more than to make every part of Equestria as pink as she is. We have to run. Now!”
“Oh yes. Let's run. Wait. Let me go first,” Discord said mockingly.
He snapped his fingers once again and a red carpet rolled out in front of his feet. He gave a mocking bow and thanked Fluttershy for her role in his success. Then he suddenly changed into a tourist with his many bags packed. He turned and found himself staring down an angry Pinkisaurus.
“OH SWEET CELESTIA SAVE ME,” Was the last thing he said before Pinkisaurus totally and completely pinkified them with a blast of pure pink.
It was not until two days later when help arrived. A special envoy from Princess Luna. Both her and her guards had to wear special glasses to keep from being taken in by all the pink. And there was a lot of pink. Everywhere. Every last object, toy, food, flower, building, and anything I left out was pink. Luna ordered her guards to look for the pony residents of Ponyville. They were the only things missing. Out of all of Ponyville only three were found. Three young fillies found in the pink walls of a small clubhouse. When Luna asked what happened only one thing could be said.
“P- p- pink. . . Too much. . .w- way too much pink.”
Can you guess how it ends?
Princess Celestia closed the story book she had in her hooves. She placed it down on the floor next to her throne. Then she turned back to her audience. It was none other than Princess Luna, Princess Cadance, and- oh. I bet you are wondering why I am here. Well, you see, I managed to escape that crazy human obsessed pony. She chased me halfway across Equestria. I only escaped because I made a fake human out of straw and a sack. I put my hat on it and ran. She fell for it. I am sure she is still looking for me, but for now I will get back to narrating.
Celestia turned back to the three ponies that listened to her story. Only two of them were actually princesses. The third was Queen Chrysalis. I know. Why in Equestria is she there? Well, she did originally come to destroy Celestia and Luna like she always does, but then she got entranced by Celestia's remarkable storytelling. But I digress.
“Sister,” Luna said, “That was a good story, with all the little fillies telling their own stories, but why did you read it to us now?”
“The answer is simple dear sister,” Celestia said, “To teach you to NEVER EVER BREAK THE FOURTH WALL! UNDERSTAND?!”
“Yes sister,” Luna said while quivering behind her cushion.
“AND YOU TWO,” Celestia said to the other two.
They both nodded quickly after they joined Luna in hiding and quivering behind their cushions. Celestia could become really scary when it came to story time. Even I am terrified, and I am hiding off to the side. Out of sight.
“Good. Now that you know what can happen I trust that none of you will ever break the fourth wall,” Celestia said calmly, “There are only certain beings in all of Equestria that are allowed to do it. Like me.”
“What about Twilight's friend. . . Pinkie Pie,” Cadance said from behind her cushion.
“She has a permit,” Celestia said.
Now, you may be wondering to yourself what in the name of Celestia is going on. Well, I would love to tell you, but it seems I have been found. If I don't leave now this pony is going to bash my head into the keyboarljn;nhiwvWJVwdjvdvdWVwdvvdvdNJDVnjvdJBVDJBDVJNDVJBDSV;JBDSVDSVJnsgnsnbdmkmkmkkmkmlkmlmkkmklmabfvvvwBGBG G F
Ouch. That hurt. As I was trying to say. Please ignore the sounds of dragging. That is just me being dragged away by a light green human obsessed pony. She managed to find me, knock me out, wrap me in chains, and is now dragging me off to some unknown location. She keeps chanting the word 'human' over and over. It's kinda creepy. If you don't hear from me in a while make sure to call Pony Team 6! They will know what to do. This is the narrator signing off.
“Do you have any idea what that was about,” Chrysalis asked the others.
“I have no idea,” Cadance answered.
“What I do know is that story time is over,” Luna said, “See you next weekend. Byes!”
“Hey you. Yes, you. The readers,” Celestia said, “Did you ever expect it to end like this? That Lyra really is persistent when it comes to humans. Oh, darn. Sorry, I gotta go. There is a raging Pinkisaurus on the loose and I have to deal with it. Byes!”
