Fallout equestria key of ruin
chapter 1: welcome to the western wastes.
Blacklight trekked across the dusty wasteland in silence. He was miles away from the camp now. Blacklight stopped suddenly having a realization. He didn't know where to go.
He knew very little about the wasteland, only some small childhood memories and stories told by some of the griffins, he had no idea where to begin his search.
"I really should have thought this over more." blacklight said to himself.
Blacklight's moment of silence. Was interupted by what sounded like polka music.
"the hell?" said blacklight.
Blacklight walked towards the sound of the music.
"who could be playing music out here?"
Blacklight stopped in his tracks. He saw where the music was comming from. It was coming from a sprite bot. Blacklight had seen a broken one back in the camp, but this one was different. It was painted bright blue. Blacklight approached the sprite bot slowly.
"um.... Hello?"
Blacklight stopped again.
"wait a sec, what am I doing?" blacklight questioned himself. "this is a sprite bot! It can't talk! Let alone understand me!"
Suddenly the music stopped and the sprite bot turned to face blacklight.
"what the?"
A light on the sprite bot turned on and glowed a bright yellow.
"oh I understand alright"
The voice came from the sprite bot.
"holy buck!" yelled blacklight.
Instinctively he levitated his pistol out of his bag and aimed it at the sprite bot.
"easy there tiger" stated the bot. "no need to go pulling guns on everypony"
Blacklight lowered his weapon.
"how..... Are you talking?" blacklight asked "sprite bots can't talk."
"well I'm not a sprite bot. Think of this as a radio. I'm really somewhere else" replied the voice coming from the sprite bot.
Blacklight put away his gun.
"so who are you?" asked blacklight.
"it's for the best that you don't know. I've already said too much"
The sprite bot turned to leave but blacklight stopped it.
"wait, I have some questions."
"like what?" asked the voice.
Blacklight paused.
"I'm looking for a zebra with a scar over one of it's eyes." replied blacklight.
"sorry kid" answered the voice "don't see too many sprite bots".
"well do ya at least know what this is?" asked blacklight gesturing to the key around his neck.
"well ain't that something" said the voice. "I can tell you this, it looks like it was from before the war."
"one last question." said blacklight. "where is the nearest town?"
The sprite bot paused for a moment. Then began it's response.
"closest town is bitterhoof. Thats about an hour away. But I don't think you will find anything you need there"
"thanks for your help" said blacklight.
Blacklight began to walk away.
"hold it" said the voice.
Blacklight stopped.
"what is your name?"
Blacklight turned to face the sprite bot.
"black light."
"black light eh, well black, your alright in my book. You can call me , One"
"why do they call you that?"
Before blacklight got his answer the light on the sprite bit turned off and began playing polka music again as it hovered away.
"who was that?" blacklight thought to himself.
Blacklight looked at his pip buck and saw that a location was marked on it.
"bitterhoof it is then".
Blacklight headed towards the direction of the marker.  
Blacklight had been walking for an hour. He saw the ruins if a town in the distance and stopped for a break.
"that must be it".
Blacklight levitated a bottle of water out of his bag and took a big sip then put it back in his bag and continued His walk towards bitterhoof. Blacklight stopped at the town gates and saw that nopony was there.
"hello!" yelled blacklight. "anypony there?"
He looked at his pip-buck and noticed two red marks on is eyes-forward-sparkle (E.F.S. For short)
"buck" muttered blacklight pulling out his pistol. And taking cover behind a large rock.
Blacklight peeked his head out and saw two fugues approaching. One was an earth pony and the other was a unicorn. Both wore makeshift armor. The ilunicorn was levitating a pump action shotgun and the earth pony was holding a pool cue in it's mouth. They fit the description of something he heard about in the camp.
"raiders"
The unicorn noticed blacklight.
"there he is!"
The unicorn fired a shot but it missed and the earth pony charged at blacklight. Blacklight looked at his gun then back at the raiders.
"first real firefight." blacklight told himself. "hope that training worked."
Blacklight got out from cover and took aim at the charging raider.
"I'm gunna rip out your throat and use you for a rug!" he heard the raider yell.
Blacklight fired two shots. The first hit the head, stunning the raider and the second went clean through it's eye socket, killing the raider. Blacklight saw the other raider take aim. Acting quickly blacklight lifted up the pool cue with magic and tossed it at the raider. The pool cue impaled the raider through the chest, piercing it's heart. Killing him.
Blacklight put away his gun. He had not only survived his first real fight, but he had won it.
Blacklight searched the first raider's body. Only thing he found was five bottle caps. Then he turned his attention to the other body. The other body held more loot. The second raider had a bottle of water, ten caps and some shotgun shells. Shotgun shells.
Blacklight turned his attention to the discarded shotgun. Blacklight floated it up to eye level and examined it. It was intact and in good condition.
"must be my lucky day"
Blacklight stashed the shotgun and the ammo in his bag and walked into the town.  
Blacklight had made his first mistake. He saw that the town was full of raiders. Blacklight took shelter in an abandoned building before anypony noticed him.
"stupid sprite bot" said blacklight. "I'm in this cesspool of raiders with just a knife, a pistol, and a shotgun."
blacklight heard the doorknob turn.
"shit." blacklight hid in a nearby closet. the front door opened slowly and he saw through a crack in the door two raiders, one male and one female walk in, locking the door behind them.
"looks like you can't keep your hands off of me flaming bow" said the male raider.
"just shut up and mount me" said the female raider.
Blacklight closed the closet door fully. He didn't want another traumatic memory. Blacklight decided to look around the closet for supplies and to pass the time. There were metal crates but they were all empty. Blacklight's attention turned towards a cardboard box. Blacklight opened the box and saw it's sole content.
It was a purplish orb with a label on it.
"the day I met her"
Blacklight's curiosity got the best of him and he levitated it out of the box. But upon bringing it to eye level, everything went white.
<oooooOOOOOOOooooooo>
Blacklight was no longer in a closet. He was in a bustling town full of happy ponies. And he was no longer himself. He was a black unicorn colt with a white mane with a full moon for a cutie mark. Walking down the street.
"this is weird" blacklight thought to himself.
The colt stopped at a large tree building.
"why is he stopping?" thought blacklight.
"this must be the ponyville library" said the colt.
The colt walked up to the door and opened it. Inside was shelves full of books, soo many books. But nopony was there.
"hello?" asked the colt.
"just a sec!" replied a female voice.
A purple unicorn pony with a purple mane and some kind of star for a cutie mark walked in through a nearby set of stairs.
"welcome to the ponyville library, how may I help you" asked the purple mare.
"oh hello." said the colt. "I'm looking for a book called fellowship of the knights. A friend said I should read it but he lost his copy."
"I've read that book" replied the mare. "it's a great read"
The purple unicorn used magic to levitate a book off of the shelf and passed it to the colt.
"thank you miss....." the colt paused.
"my name is twilight sparkle" said the purple mare.
Then everything became white again.
<ooooooooooOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooo>
Blacklight was back in the closet, and he was himself again.
"what was that?" blacklight thought to himself. " couldn't control what the pony that I was was doing, but I could see what he saw. It was like I was living his memory."
Blacklight stashed the orb into his bag and opened the closet door a bit to check if the raiders were still there. Luckily they were both asleep on the floor.
"nows my chance" blacklight tip toed out of the closet and headed towards the door. Blacklight was about to open the door when loud sounds of gunfire erupted outside, awaking the two raiders.
"hey!" cried one of them.
"aw buck!" blacklight yelled as he took his knife out of his holster using magic.
The male raider started bolted up and rushed blacklight, but blacklight stabbed him whil he was charging, ending him. Then he noticed the female raider reaching for a 10mm pistol. Blacklight quickly jammed the knife into her spine and twisted it. Causing her back to split in two. Blacklight removed his knife and used the fabric from their clothes to while the blood off before putting his knife away.
"that gunfire"
Blacklight opened to door and saw the raiders firing at a group of cleaner ponies in armor. The raiders were too busy to notice him. Black could hear yelling from the other ponies.
"were pinned down!"
"medic!"
"don't give up!"
Blacklight could tell the raiders were winnin
"those other ponies must be good" blacklight told himself. " maybe I can help."
Blacklight floated his shotgun and combat knife out and snuck up on the raiders.
"were going to eat tonight!" yelled one raider.
Blacklight made his move. He snuck up behind one raider using a bolt action gun and jammed his combat knife into the raider's neck, causing the raider to scream in pain. The other raiders alerted to the noise, turned to see blacklight.
"get him!" yelled one of the raiders.
Blacklight aimed his shotgun and fired a shot into the closest raider, his head burst into large red chunks as blacklight pumped the shotgun and took aim again. The raiders took aim at blacklight, completely forgetting about the other ponies. Blacklight acted fast, he held the corpse of the raider he stabbed in front of him with magic. The corpse absorbed almost all of the bullets impact. While the raiders were trying to get black, the other ponies took advantage of the opportunity and gunned down the remaining distracted raiders using assault rifles.
With the battle over, blacklight let the corpse fall to the ground and put away his weapons. Then turned to the other ponies.
"whos that guy" said one of them.
"he ain't no raider thats for sure" said another.
Blacklight walked over to the ponies. Black could see clearly what they looked like now. They wore dust brown armor and helmets,
"is everypony ok?" asked blacklight.
One of them walked forwards, his armor was a darker shade than the others, he wore a different helmet too. Physically he was a peach colored stallion with a black mane and a rifle for a cutie mark.
"as far as we can tell, no casualties but some wounded." replied the stallion. "if you hadn't come in things would have been worse."
Blacklight smiled at the mention that none of them died.
"glad I could help" said blacklight. "I'm blacklight" blacklight extended his hoof to the stallion.
"I'm sergeant hoofbeat of the new guard" replied the stallion as he shook his hoof.
"what's the new guard?" asked blacklight.
"never heard of us?" asked hoofbeat. "we are a group of volunteers who based ourselves off of the pre war royal guard. Our goal is to stop all of the chaos in this end of the wastes."
"this end of the wastes?" asked blacklight.
"yes, this is the western wastes." replied hoofbeat. Hoofbeat pointed his hoof at a large mountain range far in the distance. "those mountains there, they divide us from the rest of the wasteland. If you go through the mountain pass, you end up in the main wasteland, there lies the ponyville ruins, new appoloza, and Canterlot. We don't have any influence there since it's past our range of influence."
Hoofbeat turned towards the town gate.
"I can tell you more at the camp. come on"
Hoofbeat and his troops took blacklight to a large camp with steel walls, watch towers, and some intact buildings. Blacklight and hoofbeat sat in front of a campfire.
"where was I...." started hoofbeat. "ah yes, our area of operation Is very limited. We managed to decrease raider activity here, but we are facing a problem."
"what kind of problems?" asked blacklight.
"ever hear of a stable?" asked hoofbeat.
Blacklight nodded.
"well there's a bunch of raiders in stable 22, they have it's residents hostage. Said that If we try going past their so called boundary that they would kill them all". Hoofbeat paused. " we need to free those hostages so we can get in further, expand...... Build more bases."
"there you are" said a voice.
The two turned to see an older unicorn stallion with a white coat, a grey beard, grey mane, and a shield for a cutie mark. He wore grey armor rather than brown armor.
"sir" said hoofbeat as he gave a salute.
"at ease" said the older stallion.
The stallion sat down next to hoofbeat.
"so your the one who saved some of my boys." said the stallion to blacklight. "I'm comander shield."
"I'm blacklight."
Shield looked at blacklight.
"I'm the leader of the guard. I can't thank you enough," shield began " you helped a group of ponies that you never even met before."
Shield took out a small sack of caps and gave it to blacklight.
"this is for your troubles" said shield. "I now ask you, can you help us with an important task?"
"what is it?" asked blacklight?
"I know hoofbeat told you about the stable." shield paused for a moment. "we need a third party, someone like you."
Blacklight put the caps in his bag. Then he turned back to shield.
"let me guess" blacklight began. "you want me to break the hostages out?"
Shield nodded.
"we will supply you with whatever you would need, ammo, medicine, whatever you need to break them out." replied shield. "if you decline, I understand."
Blacklight took a moment to think things over before he came to a conclusion.
"I will, but on one condition"
"name it" replied hoofbeat.
"I'm looking for a zebra" said blacklight. "I want to know if you seen him. He has a scar over one of his eyes"
Shield smiled.
"I sadly haven't seen your zebra, but I know someone who has." shield replied. "save the hostages, and I'll direct you to him."
Blacklight shook shield's hoof.
"deal"
Shield got up.
"you go in tomorrow" shield started. "tonight you rest, we have a spare room you can sleep in."
Blacklight laid in the bed awake. He couldn't get to sleep. But he quickly remembered the book alvere gave him.
"maybe reading will help" blacklight thought to himself.
Blacklight lifted the book out with magic and opened it to page one. It was a story from long before the war. The book detailed how six ponies saved equestria from eternal night. Blacklight read their names to himself.
"rainbow dash....... Applejack....... Pinkie pie....... Fluttershy....... Rarity......... Twilight..... Sparkle."
Black remembered his experience from the orb, the purple mare.
"twilight sparkle....., the element of magic"
Blacklight put the book back in the bag and closed his eyes.
"was this pony famous?" that was the last thing that crossed his Mind before he fell asleep.

Fallout equestria key of ruin
Chapter 2: heart of gold.
Blacklight stood in front of comander shield and Sargent hoofbeat.
"so what's the plan?" asked blacklight.
"the entrance is guarded," began hoofbeat. "so you need to sneak in"
"we managed to acquire something to help with that." added shield.
Shield floated a small device over to blacklight.
"that is a reverse engineered stealth buck" stated shield. "these are the pony made versions of the zebra stealth bucks, it should get you in."
"how do I get out?" asked blacklight.
"unfortunately your on your own with that." replied hoofbeat.
"and you need more than a shotgun and a pistol."said shield as he levitated a supressed assault rifle out of a trunk and passed it to blacklight. "you can't keep this gun, so don't go and sell it or anything like that"
Blacklight knoded.
"let's do this" said blacklight.
The stable was half an hour away from the camp. Blacklight could see the door to it in the distance.
"better activate the stealth buck." blacklight told himself.
Blacklight plugged the device into his pip buck and pressed a button on it. He quickly turned invisible.
"nice" blacklight thought to himself as he edged closer to the stable.
The stable door was open and there were two raiders stationed out front. Blacklight had no trouble getting past them. Blacklight paused for a second to stare at the stable interior.
"wow" blacklight thought to himself. "so this is a stable"
Blacklight walked down the rusted hallways, passing a couple of raiders along the way. Blacklight noticed an elevator and stealthfully sliped into it.
"shield said they were in the living quarters." blacklight told himself. "I just need to-"
But the stealth buck wore off, causing him to become visable again.
"goddess damn it!" blacklight cursed to himself.
His one Advantage had just wore off.agitated, blacklight removed the stealth buck and discarded it. Then he floated out the supressed assault rifle.
"least I still got this" blacklight thought to himself.
The elevator stopped and opened up. Blacklight stepped out and tip toed to the corner of the hallway.
Blacklight saw a raider guarding a door labeled living quarters. Blacklight caught him off guard and fired 4 shots into his head. Then trotted over to the body. Blacklight looted off some caps, some 9mm bullets, and a grenade.
"let's do this" blacklight muttered to himself.
Blacklight opened the door and rushed in. The door led to a long hallway with doors on both sides. One. Door was guarded by two raiders.
"hey!" one of them screamed.
Both aimed their guns at blacklight and fired. But suddenly blacklight vanished in a flash of green light.
"where the he'll did he go!?" yelled the other raider.
A moment later blacklight appeared behind the two in a green flash.
"right here ya dumb bucks."
Blacklight kicked one of the raiders onto the ground and levitated out his knife, stabbing the other raider in the side of his neck. Then stomping on the fallen raider's head, crushing his skull.
"too easy" blacklight said to himself with a smile.
Blacklight put his knife away and searched the two bodies. Blacklight looted some caps, ammo for a gun he didn't have, and a set if keys. Blacklight's gaze then fell upon one of the weapons they had. It was some kind of pistol. But it looked different than any he had seen.
"I'll pick this up after I set everypony free"...
Blacklight went for the closest door first. It was locked, but blacklight used they keys he found and opened the door. Inside was a typical stable bedroom. But there was nopony inside.
"where is....-"
Blacklight was cut off by the sound of a song playing.
Blacklight followed the sound to a door nearby. Black unlocked it and opened it up. Inside was a peach colored mare that looked the same age as blacklight laying on a bed. She had a bright yellow mane that was styled short, gold colored eyes, and her cutie mark was a gold heart. She wore stable barding and was reading a book while listening to the radio. She didn't notice that blacklight was there.
"um hello?" asked blacklight.
The mare put down her book and looked at blacklight.
"so I take it your the rescue crew?" replied the mare.
"yeah...... Ya know for a prisoner, you don't look like your-
"what?" the mare cut blacklight off mid sentence. "what did you expect? A pale sickly pony in the process of being violated?"
"well no." blacklight replied. "but you seem pretty nonchalant about all this."
They were interupted by a voice on the radio.
"chao! It's triple trot here with today's new!"
"hold it, I want to hear this" said the mare.
"apparently there was a skirmish between some raiders and those brave ponies in the new guard. Poor troops would have died if it wernt for a mysterious savior helping them."
Blacklight's eyes widened. This triple trot was talking about him. How did he even know?
"in other news, rumor has it that said savior was asked to join the new guard, either way, don't stop helpin stranger! This next song goes out to you!"
The voice on the radio vanished, replaced by music and a singing feminine voice.
"I'll be the toast of the town-"
The mare turned the radio off.
"where was I...." started the mare.
"no time." replied blacklight. "let's free the other hostages".
"your wasting time with that pal" said the mare.
"what do you mean?" asked blacklight?
The mare got off the bed and stood facing blacklight.
"they are dead"
"dead!?" yelled blacklight. "since when!?, how!?,"
"two years ago." started the mare. "some of the raiders got messed up on chems and booze.... Killed all the prisoners."
"then how are you alive?" asked black.
"it's crazy, you won't believe me if I told you." replied the mare.
"I've heard plenty of crazy shit, trust me." said blacklight.
"fine" answered the mare. "ever since I could remember, I've been really really really lucky. So I guess I was especially lucky that day because all I got was a bullet to the leg."
She gestured to a scar on her leg.
"I can believe that" said black. "oh! I never introduced myself. I'm blacklight"
"now we reach introductions." muttered the mare sarcastically. "my name is golden heart"
"well miss golden heart, can I call you gold?"
"go ahead" answered golden heart.
"well gold, let's go." said blacklight with a smile.
Escaping would be much easier since he only had one pony with him.
"not just yet" said golden heart. "there's one thing I want to do before I leave this shithole."
"what?" asked blacklight.
"you will see" replied golden heart.
"I guess we can... But you need a gun" said blacklight.
Blacklight picked up a pump action shotgun dropped by one if the raiders and offered it to her.
"yeah no." said golden heart as she left her room and walked up to the gun that blacklight planned to pick up later. She picked up the gun in her mouth and slipped it into her barding.
"I'll take this"   
The duo had left the living quarters. And golden heart tool the lead, stoping at a door marked overseer.
"this won't take too long." said golden heart.
Golden heart took out the gun and mouth wielded it. She told blacklight along the way there that it was a needler pistol, used for paralyzing enemies
"ladies first" said blacklight as he levitated out his 9mm pistol.
Golden heart kicked down the door and they rushed in. However there was nopony inside.
"told ya I was lucky" said golden heart, her voice was somewhat muffled by the gun in her mouth.
The room looked like a typical overseer's office, with the exception of a large safe door taking up most of the back wall.
"what do we need here?" asked blacklight.
Golden heart put away her gun.
"we need to open that safe" said golden heart. "got anything explosive?"
"you really are lucky." said blacklight as he levitated out the grenade.
Blacklight pulled the pin and rolled the bomb at the door. The two ducked behind the overseer's desk as the grenade exploded, blowing off the door.
"good" said golden heart with a smile.
The two got up and walked towards the large doorway. His eyes widened.
"holy celestia on a speedboat."
Inside was loads and loads of gold bars.
"bingo" said golden heart.
She began putting gold bars into a saddlebag she brought with her.
"help yourself!" yelled golden heart enthusiastically.
Blacklight could only stare in awe.
"why the hell is there like a million bars of gold?" asked blacklight.
"this stable had a unique currency system." replied golden heart. "we used this to buy loads of things. Snacks, movie seats, jewelry...."
She grabbed a bar in her mouth and flung it in blacklight's direction. The unicorn caught it with his magic and slipped it into his saddle bag.
"now we can get out of here" said golden heart.  
They drew closer to the exit. But then one thing crossed his mind.
"how the buck are we going to sneak past the guards!?" asked blacklight.
Golden heart stopped and looked at blacklight.
"I thought you had our escape all planned out!" said golden heart, she sounded annoyed.
"they said that I was on my own with the exit plan." replied blacklight. "so unless you know where I can find another stealth buck, we have a problem."
"actually... I do". Said golden heart with a smile.
Blacklight also smiled.
"her luck is rubbing off on me" blacklight thought to himself.  
They made a detour towards the storage room.
"head one of my guards talks about one being in here." said golden heart.
They stopped at a room marked storage.
"here it is!" said golden heart.
They opened the door and entered the room. It was full of metal crates. And lying on top of one of the crates in plain sight, was a stealth buck.
"hell yes!" said blacklight.
He picked up the stealth buck with magic and put it in it's slot on the pip buck.
"let's get the he'll out of-"
"there!" cried a voice.
Five raiders barged in, all adopting smgs and surrounded the two.
"great" blacklight thought to himself. "any more luck?" asked black.
"Depends, got any bright ideas?" asked golden heart.
"now we got two captives!" yelled one raider.
"who's lucky now bitch!" cried another.
"what...did you just call me?" asked golden heart.
"you heard me!" yelled the raider. "a b-e-I-......... Bitch!"
Brains obviously were not their strong suit.
"black...." grunted golden heart
"yea?" asked blacklight.
"dibs on potty mouth"
Golden heart kicked the smg out of the raider's mouth. Then the other raiders took aim at her.
"no ya don't!" yelled blacklight!
He focused his magic and lifted all five raiders with his magic.
"holy shit!" screamed one raider.
golden heart took out her needler pistol and shot the raiders with syringe bullets that were full of paralyzing liquid.
"let them down black." said golden heart.
"but of course." replied blacklight with a smile.
Blacklight slammed them onto the floor hard and released his magical grip on them.
"let's hoof it!" yelled blacklight.
He ran out with golden heart following close behind.
"what now!?" asked golden heart.
"we can forget stealth at this point!" replied blacklight.
Blacklight recognized the hallway they were running in.
"I know this hall!" said black. "were almost free!"
But when they Reached the main enterence, it was full of raider guards all armed with automatic weapons.
"hold it!" yelled one raider.
The two ponies stopped dead in their tracks.
"dammit!" yelled golden heart.
"no." said blacklight. "we've come too fat to lose right now!"
Blacklight looked for anything, anything he could use. Then he noticed that one was not armed with an automatic weapon, but with a device linked to a large gas tank on his back.
"a flame thrower" blacklight thought to himself.
"down on the frekin ground!" yelled a raider.
"not this time!" yelled blacklight.
He quickly took out his pistol and fired a shot that hit the gas tank dead on, igniting it and setting the raiders ablaze. They screamed in pain as their flesh burned.
"let's go!" yelled blacklight.
Blacklight and golden heart ran out of the stable as fast as they could.
After escaping, they made their way back to the new guard's camp. Where shield, and hoofbeat were waiting.
"you made it!" said shield with a smile.
Hoofbeat looked at golden heart.
"where's the other hostages?" asked hoofbeat.
Golden heart smirked. "I am the other hostages"
"only one hostage?" said shield. "damn raider played us like a game of chess."
"least you can go in and take over the stable now." said blacklight as he took out the suppressed assault Rifle. "heres your gun back."
Shield took the gun and rested it against the camp gate.
"you have done us a huge favor blacklight." said shield. "a deal is a deal. I know that there's a pony in the radio building that has an eye on everything going on in the western wastes."
"triple trot!" said golden heart.
"yes" replied shield.
"if anypony has seen your zebra, it would be him." added hoofbeat.
Hoofbeat marked it's location on blacklight's pip buck.
"you could be there tomorrow if you go now." said shield.

Blacklight began to walk away.
"wait!"
Blacklight stopped to see golden heart running after him.
"what's this about a zebra?" asked golden heart.
"I have a score to settle." replied blacklight.
"can I join in on this little personal vendetta? I have score to settle too." asked golden heart.
"who?" replied blacklight.
"let's just say somepony screwed me over and I want to smash his face in." goldenheart answered.
Blacklight thought about it. Her natural luck would come in handy, plus she might have some skills he did not. And off the record, blacklight was feeling a little lonely."
"By all means, I could use a friend like you by my side."
Golden heart squeed with joy.
"let's hit the road!" cheered golden heart.
Blacklight and golden heart trekked into the wastes, towards triple trot's radio building. To find the answers that blacklight needed.

Chapter 3: not heroes.
Blacklight and golden heart had been walking for the past hour in silence. Blacklight divided to start some light conversation.
"why did you choose not to take the gun I offered you back at the stable?" asked blacklight.
"I'll tell you why" golden heart began. "the reason all my friends died was because ponies did stupid things with dangerous weapons." she paused and looked at her hooves. "I dont want to have anything too dangerous, should I make the same mistake."
Blacklight stopped and looked at her.
"that sounds like a good explanation" said blacklight.
Golden heart smiled.
"thanks, but let's get moving"
The two ponies continued walking.  
It was starting to get late. Luckily for black and golden, they stumbled upon an abandoned shack.
"we spend the night in here" said blacklight.
"sounds good to me." replied goldenheart.
Blacklight opened the door and surveyed the shack. There was a workbench and some shelves with boxes on them. There were two mattresses on the ground.
"it's safe" said blacklight as he walked in. Golden heart followed and closed the door behind her.
"not a bad setup here" said golden heart.
Blacklight set his saddlebag on the ground next to one of the mattresses. Then he checked the boxes for supplies. They were all empty.
"damn." muttered blacklight.
But something caught his eye.
Lying next to one of the boxes was an orb, just like the one he saw before.
"memory orb"
Blacklight turned to see golden heart looking at him.
"it's a memory orb" said golden heart. "let's you watch recorded memories from other ponies."
Blacklight paused."that's what happened" blacklight thought to himself. "I was living that pony's memory" blacklight's curiosity got the better of him and he decided to check the orb to see what it had. He did just as he did with the previous orb and just like before everything went white.

This time he was a stallion busy cooking food. From the window blacklight recognized that he was in the same town as the last memory.
"ponyville" he thought to himself.
There was a knocking at his door.
"must be moon dust." the pony said to himself.
The stallion opened the door and on the other side was a pony he recognized as the stalion from the previous memory.
"hey prancer" said the pony who was apparently moon dust.
"come in" said the stallion.
"guess I'm living prancer's memory" blacklight thought to himself.
Moon dust walked into the house. He had a saddlebag with a familiar book sticking out of it.
"took my advice after all" said prancer.
"yeah, it's pretty good so far" said moon dust.
Moon dust looked like he was staring into space.
"uh, moon?" asked prancer.
Moon dust snapped back to reality.
"sorry, it's a mare" moon dust replied.
"who is it?" asked prancer.
"her name is twi- do I smell something burning?"
"my food!" yelled prancer
He quickly turned and ran as everything went white.

Blacklight snapped back to reality.
"that pony, moon dust...." blacklight muttered to himself.
Blacklight noticed that golden heart was trying to open one of his cans of pork and beans.
"how do you open these damn things?" asked golden heart.
Blacklight grabbed the can with magic and opened it. Then he floated it back to golden heart.
"thanks" said golden heart.
Blacklight took out a can for himself and opened it.
"hey gold" asked blacklight.
"yeah?" said golden hear with a mouth full of pork and beans.
"does the name twilight sparkle mean anything to you?" asked blacklight as he levitated a spoon out of his bag.
Golden heart swallowed.
"the minestry mare?" replied golden heart. "she was the head of the ministry of magic durring the war from what I heard. Before that she was a student of princess celestia".
"twilight sparkle....." blacklight muttered to himself as he scooped some pork and beans with his spoon. "ministry of magic...... Then why was she a librarian?" blacklight thought to himself as he shoveled pork and beans into his mouth.
The following morning they left the shack and continued onwards. They could see a large radio tower in the distance.
"were almost there." said blacklight.
"I can't believe we are going to meet triple Trot" said golden heart.
They neared the building and saw three Stallions out front. One was bright green with a red mane and had a clipboard for a cutie mark and the other two were grey and wore suits and hats.
"what's going on?" asked golden heart.
"I don't know" replied blacklight.
The two walked closer to the three ponies.
"I'm sorry gentlecolts" said the green stallion. "but you can't enter."
The ponies in suits smirked.
"mr. Bright wants to see triple trot personally." said one if the Stallions. "so let us in or else" said the other.
"uh excuse me." started blacklight."there a problem here?"
"none of your business." snapped one of the suit wearing Stalions.
"well I do believe it is our business because it sounds like your going to hurt triple trot." said golden heart.
"well arnt you a smart little skank." said the other suit wearing stallion.
Blacklight floated out his 9mm pistol.
"Leave or I will kill you!" yelled blacklight.
The suited stallions growled.
"when mr.bright hears this, your gunna wish you stayed the he'll out of this." said one of the suited Stalions.
The two stalions took their leave.
"you ok?" blacklight asked the green stalion as he holstered his pistol.
"I'm alright." replied the green stalion. "call me clip. In triple trot's assistant."
"I'm blacklight, and this is golden heart" said blacklight.
"thanks for the help" said clip. "why are you here?"
"I was told triple trot could direct me towards a zebra I'm looking for". Replied blacklight.
"most ponies arnt aloud to see tripple trot" started clip. "but since you potentially saved his life, I'm sure he would make an exception"
Clip opened the door and led them in.
Clip lead blacklight and golden heart down a hallway.
"here we are" said clip, stoping at a door with a red light above it. "the red means he's broadcasting right now, once it turns green you can see him."
"it's an impressive setup he has here" complimented blacklight.
"thanks" said clip. "triple trot fixed it up himself, got it up and running"
"all be by himself?" asked golden heart.
"yep" replied clip.
The light turned from red to green and clip opened the door.
"he's right in here."
Blacklight and golden heart walked into the room. It was full of machines. There was a safe on the back wall. There was also a large machine that served as a desk. A single pony hovered around in the room. He was a purple pony with wings, he had an orange mane and had a turntable as a cutie mark. He wore an orange vest and black sunglasses.
"well I'll be," said the pony. "I've been expecting you"
"you triple trot?" asked blacklight.
"the one and only black" replied the pony.
Black froze.
"how did you know my name?" asked black.
"I have eyes all over the wastes." replied triple trot. "have a seat."
Blacklight and golden heart sat in two nearby chairs and triple trot sat at his desk.
"thanks for dealing with bright's goons for me" started triple trot.
"what was their problem?" asked golden heart.
"well they work for mr. Bright." replied triple trot. "but your not here for that are you?"
"I was told you could direct my towards a zebra I'm looking for" replied blacklight. "he has a scar over one if his eyes, caries a knife."
Triple trot smiled.
"y'all came ta the right Pegasus"
"before you go any further" interupted blacklight. "arnt all the pegasi in the clouds?
"yea" replied triple trot. "but I wasn't born up in the clouds. I inherited the Pegasus gene. Both my folks were earth ponies."
"interesting." said blacklight.
"but back to business" said triple trot. "bad news is, I haven't seen YOUR zebra"
"good news?" asked golden heart.
"I've know where to find some other zebras" replied triple trot with a smirk.
Triple trot got up and walked over to blacklight.
"I'll mark it for ya" said triple trot.
Triple trot marked the location on blacklight's pip buck. Then blacklight checked his pip buck.
"that a few days away" said blacklight. "if we go there we will need more supplies."
"that's why ya should stop at San de neighgo first." said triple trot. "nicest place in the western wastes. Only an hour away too."
"thank you triple trot" said blacklight.
"before y'all go, I have to ask you a favor"
"what?" asked blacklight.
Triple trot smiled.
"keep doing what your doing"  
The two walked out of the building.
"so I guess we go to San de neighgo" said blacklight.
"could ya turn on your pip buck radio before we go?" asked golden heart.
Blacklight turned on his pip buck radio just in time to hear triple trot's voice on the radio.
"guess what time it is! It's news time!"
The two began walking.
"the new guard is beginning it's campaign to free the southwest corner of the western wastes today."" in other words remember that helpful stranger I mentioned before?"
Blacklight took notice.
"well he's picked up a traveling companion and is heading towards San de neighgo" "if ya see him, thank him, he's making the wastes a better place".
"ya hear that black." said golden heart. "were heroes!"
Blacklight looked at golden heart.
"I'm not a hero gold." started blacklight. "I'm just a wandering pony on a personal vendetta who like to help out every once in a while."  
After an hour of walking blacklight and golden heart reached the large concrete walls of San de neighgo.
"why does every settlement I go to have walks?" asked blacklight.
"hold up!" shouted a voice.
Blacklight and golden heart looked up and saw a pony on top. He was an orange-tan colored stalion with a black mane. He wore a dark brown hat and a black duster patched in several places and he had his front two hiives wrapped in boxing tape. He had a battle saddle on his side and his cutie mark was three bullets. He looked to be 10 years older than blacklight.
"your not going to shoot up the town are ya!" asked the pony.
"no. We are travelers" replied blacklight.
"or your raiders bent on taking the town!" yelled the pony.
"do we look like raiders!?" asked golden heart.
The pony chuckled.
"I'm just pulling your tail kid!" yelled the pony. "open the gates! We got visitors!"
The gates slowly opened and blacklight and golden heart entered the perimeter. Inside it was a city that was damaged greatly, but still stable. The streets bustled with ponies going about their daily life.
"wow" blacklight and golden heart said in unison.
The gates closed behind then and the pony hopped down and trotted over to them.
"welcome ta San de neighgo!" said the pony.
"thanks." replied blacklight. "I'm blacklight"
"and I'm golden heart" said golden heart.
"ya can call duster." replied the pony.
"duster. Strange name" said blacklight.
"it's short for my real name." replied duster.
"what's your real name?" asked golden heart.
"well..... I used to be called bone duster." duster said looking at the ground.
"who names a pony bone duster?" asked golden heart.
"I'd rather not talk about it" said duster. "so what brings ya to San de neighgo?"
"we need to stock up on supplies" said blacklight.
"I thought that would be why." said duster.
"so where's the shops?" asked golden heart.
"closed for today." said duster. "but tomorrow they will open up bright and early. Gun store is open though.
"any idea where we can find a bed for tonight then?" asked blacklight.
"just one bed?" asked duster. "what you share beds with your ladyfriend over there?"
This caused blacklight and golden heart's faces to turn a bright red.
"I'm just pulling your legs again" said Duster. "you can ask the mayor shes in town hall. Big building cant miss it. while your at it I recomend meeting some of the other ponies in town. Like primer, violet, or colgate."
"thanks" said blacklight, his face started to cool down.
"one last thing" said duster. "see me again before ya leave."
"we can do that" said golden heart.
"see ya duster." said blacklight.
The two began their walk towards town hall.

Chapter 4: my kind of town.
Duster was right, you can't miss it. Town hall was a large building with stone columns.
"fancy place" said golden heart.
The door to the building opened and a mare with a grey mane, a brown coat, and a feather pen for a cutie mark walked out.
"I can tell your not from around here" said the mare.
"you would be right." replied blacklight.
"I'm they mayor around here." said the mare. "duster must have told you to find me."
"yeah" said blacklight. "I'm blacklight and this is golden heart"
"I always enjoy meeting travelers." said the mayor. "I hope you enjoy your time in San de neighgo."
"do you know anyplace here we can stay for the night?" asked golden heart.
"usually I tell travelers they can stay in the old hotel." said the mayor. "but it's being renovated. I'm sure is you ask duster would let you stay at his home"
"thanks." said blacklight. As he and golden heart walked away.
"be sure to meet some of the townsfolk!" said the mayor. "we got the only dentist in the wasteland!"
Blacklight and golden heart walked down the streets of san de neighgo.
"now what?" asked golden heart.
"guess we meet the townsfolk" replied blacklight.
They stoped in front of a pilgrims mare with a black mane wearing a bow tie and a musical note for a cutie mark. Playing a cello.
"uh hi" said blacklight.
The cellist ignored him.
"I take it your violet?" asked blacklight.
The cellist stopped.
"you would be correct" replied the mare.
"duster said we should meet you." said golden heart.
"what's that thing you have there?" asked blacklight, pointing to the cello.
"this is a rare cello" replied violet. "this was the same one owned by famous pre war musician Octavia."
"who?" asked blacklight.
Violet sighed. "she was part of the most popular musical quartet in all of equestria. When the bombs fell, she didn't leave for a stable, she played until the blast killed her. But by some miracle, her instrument survived."
"wow." said golden heart. "she sounds like she was quite the mare"
"you have no idea" said violet.
"well nice meeting you violet" said blacklight.
The two walked away.
"now who?" asked golden heart.
"howdy travelers!" said a raspy voice.
The two turned and saw a pale blue unicorn mare that had skin peeling in various places and most of her mane was missing.
"I'm colgate" said the creature.
"HOLY LUNA!" yelled golden heart.
"what? Ya never seen a goul before?" asked colgate.
"no" said golden heart.
"I've heard of Gould before" said blacklight. "were you alive when the bombs fell?"
"yes I was!" said colgate. "I was in the wrong place at the wrong time and became this sexy beast."
"that's pretty neat" said blacklight. "what did you do for 200 years?"
Colgate smiled.
"I traveled for awhile, found some other ponies like me. We made a settlement in an old museum. Once ponies started coming out of stables, I left to become a traveling dentist".
"a dentist?" asked golden heart, she was starting to adjust to the creature before her.
"I cleaned teeth" said colgate. "but I was shot at more times than I cleaned teeth. So I came to the western wastes and moved here. No ponies shooting at me, plus I could be a dentist here."
"that's really interesting colgate" said blacklight.
"ya know, your the first pony to say that." said colgate. "if ya ever need a dental exam, come to me. I'll give ya a discount."
"I'll remember that" said blacklight. "oh, do you know where the gun shop is?"
"in the old gas station by the gate" said colgate.
"thanks. Bye." said blacklight as he and golden heart trotted away.
"see ya around kiddo!" yelled colgate.
"how could ya be so calm around that....... Thing?" asked golden heart.
"I'm not frightened about that kind of stuff." replied. blacklight.
"lets just get to the gun shop." said golden heart.
They stopped at the old gas station.
"here we are" said blacklight.
The two walked in and looked around. The shelves were full of guns and a muscular colt with a red coat, a brown mane, and a pistol for a cutie mark sat behind the counter.
"welcome to my shop traveler" said the colt. "I'm primer"
"we need some ammo." said blacklight.
"what kind?" asked primer.
"I need some 9mm ammo, some shotgun shells, and if you have any needles for my friend's syringe gun some of those would be great."
"would you be interested in any of me specialty ammo?" asked primer.
"specialty ammo?" asked blacklight.
"ya know, things like armor piercing or slugs." replied primer.
"oh that kind." said blacklight. "tell you what, we need to do some resupplying tomorrow. If we have any caps left over I'll but some sow oath ammo"
"sounds like a deal ta me." said primer as he pulled two small boxes out from behind the counter. "this enough ammo?"
"that will do" said blacklight as he levitated out a sack of caps. "how much?
"bout 200" replied primer.
Blacklight took 200 caps out and levitated them to primer.
"pleasure doing business with ya" said primer.
"is gun selling all you do?" asked golden heart.
"I do some blacksmithing on the side" said primer.
"in that case I'll stop by later, might have something for you to make for me." said golden heart.
Blacklight slipped the ammo into his saddle bag and they took their leave.
"what do you need him to make?" asked blacklight.
"you will see." said golden heart.
The two trotted up to duster, who was on the gate.
"duster!" said blacklight.
Duster hopped off of the gate and looked at them.
"well if it ain't my two favorite ponies" said duster.
"the mayor said we could stay with you" said blacklight.
"that would be no trouble at all" said duster. "my shift Is over in one minute so I can take ya there now"
"lead the way" said golden heart.  
Duster lead the two into an old apartment complex and into a room on the second floor.
"well, here's my home" said duster.
The inside was damaged, but still stable. There was a radio and a couch, a tipped over wardrobe, a closet, and a small kitchen. A mattress was lying on the floor next to a large trunk.
"what's in the trunk?" asked blacklight.
"memories" said duster. "bad memories"
"what happened?" asked golden heart.
"well let me put it this way." started duster. "I did bad things once, but that was the past...."
Duster looked down.
"what were you like a murderer or something?" asked golden heart.
"not exactly" replied duster.
"I don't think we should bother him about this" said blacklight.
"no." said duster. "you both have the right to know.
Duster took off his battle saddle and leaned it against a wall. Then he sat on the couch. Blacklight and golden heart sat on the floor.
"i came from the east." started duster. "I was part of a group of raiders."
"you were a raider?" asked golden heart.
Duster nodded.
"I got out of that crew and came here. Been a gate guard ever since. I'm not conferrable talking about it all at once, I'll tell ya more later. Ok?"
"alright" replied golden heart as she got up. "I need to talk to primer bout something. Later"
golden heart left leaving blacklight And duster behind.
"so can you at least tell my why you quit?" asked blacklight.
"...... I didn't agree with their morals, let's leave it at that." said duster.
Blacklight spent the rest of the day in the apartment checking over his supplies. Later golden heart came back and by then it was getting dark.
"so how did it go?" asked blacklight.
"we reached a business agreement" replied Holden heart. "He's forging something special in exchange for one of my gold bars."
"care to tell me what he's forging?" asked blacklight as he took a bit out of the apple he was eating.
"in good time" said golden heart with a smirk. "toss me one of those apples will ya."
Blacklight tossed golden heart an apple and she caught it in her mouth.
The next morning blacklight woke up to a loud knocking.
"what?"
Blacklight saw duster getting out of his bed, still wearing his hat and trot over to the door. Duster opened the door and the mayor was on the other side. She had a worried look on her face.
"mayor? It's 5am, why are you here this late?" asked duster.
"duster" began the mayor. "are the travelers here?"
Blacklight got up and walked over to the door.
"what is it mayor?" asked blacklight.
"I need your help." said the mayor. "you see, there is a mine not too far from here..... We use it to get gems that we use for trade with merchants." the mayor looked even more worried by the second. "one of our miners got back, he says that the hellhounds woke up!"
"what is a hellhound?" asked blacklight.
"hellhounds are tough mutated creatures" replied duster. "sharp claws, magical energy weapons, nasty sons of bitches."
"if the hounds decide to leave the mine, they are going to head strait for San de neighgo!" yelled the mayor. "we will die!"
"anything we can do to stop it?" asked blacklight.
"yes" said the mayor. "these hounds are not like most hellhounds, they are weaker, dumber, but they must have some sort of leadership.."
"you seriously don't mean...." started duster.
"blacklight." said the mayor. "If you and golden heart can kill whoever is in charge, the hounds should go back into hiding."
Blacklight thought about it.
"everypony was nice to me here" blacklight thought to himself. "I cant let them get slaughtered"
Blacklight looked at his key. Then he looked back at the mayor.
"we will do it" said blacklight.
"thank you greatly!" said the mayor. "we will make it up to you somehow, I pinkie promise." the mayor left in a more upbeat mood.
"you going to get yourself killed, ya know that?" said duster.
"I'm not going to let everypony here die." said blacklight. "not after the kindness they showed me"
Duster paused for a moment. Then a small smile appeared on his face.
"your either the biggest idiot ive ever met, or your the bravest son of a bitch I ever laid eyes on." said duster. "I'm going with you, you will need my help"
"alright" said blacklight.
"now get dressed and wake your marefriend up." said duster. "if we leave now we can get the jump on them."
"she's not my marefriend!" said blacklight, his face was turning red again.
"just bucking do it." said duster.
Blacklight trotted over to the couch where golden heart was sleeping.
"wake up gold!" said blacklight.
Golden heart's eyes flew open.
"what time is it?" asked golden heart.
"not important!" replied blacklight. "we have a job to do!"
Blacklight picked his vest off of the ground using magic and sliped it on. Then duster walked in wearing his usual duster and his battle saddle.
"let's move!" said duster. "we got hounds to stop!"
Blacklight sliped on his saddle bag and golden heart leaped off of the couch.
"alright we're ready." said blacklight.
The three galloped out of the room.

Chapter 5: into the mine
The walk from San de neighgo to the mine took about thirty minutes.
"well this is it" said duster. "shiner mines".
"so what's our plan black?" asked golden heart.
"we go in and kill the head hound." replied blacklight.
"we have ta find him first" said duster.
"shouldnt be too hard" said blacklight.
The three walked into the mine. The interior of the mine had numerous brightly colored gemstones jutting from the walls the walls were lined with lanterns.
"careful everypony" said blacklight.
They walked deeper into the mine. The sherbet they went, the more moist the ground became.
"why is the ground wet?" asked golden heart.
"theres some fancy term for it" replied duster. "I dont know it but I met a pony who knew."
They had went so far in that they could no longer see where they entered from.
"stay together" said blacklight.
They continued walking untill they reached a mining lift.
"this will take us down to the lower levels" said duster.
They got in the left and pushed a button then the lift decended.
"hey duster?" asked blacklight.
"yeah black?" said duster.
"how does your battle saddle work?" black asked. "I don't see a trigger mechanism or anything".
"believe it or not it's magic operated." replied duster.
Duster took off his hat revealing a stub of a horn on his head.
"your a unicorn?" asked golden heart.
"yep." replied duster. "I cut most of my form off after I left the raiders. They wouldn't recognize me as easily and I could pass as an earth pony. I can use just enough magic to lift a pistol. But it's enough to fire my battle saddle."
Duster put his hat back on and the lift stopped at it's destination.
"Let's move" said blacklight.  
They walked down a tunnel for a few minutes untill they heard voices and stoped at a corner.
"ya hear that?" asked blacklight.
Golden heart and duster nodded. Blacklight perked around the corner and saw two large creatures having a conversation. They both wore armor and held magical energy weapons.
"wish we would go back to sleep" said one of creatures.
"why don't you bring that up with the boss?" said the other creature.
"are those hellhounds?" whispered blacklight.
"yeah" replied dusted in a hushed tone.
"you nuts? The boss will ki- wait.... I thought I saw something"
the hellhounds walked slowly towards where black, duster, and gold were.
"think he sees us." whispered blacklight as he ducked behind the corner and floated out his knife.
Golden heart took out her needler pistol.
"I know your there!" said the hound.
"I'll get this one." said blacklight. "duster, you and gold get the other".
Just as the hound rounded the corner, blacklight stabbed him in the throat with his knife and slit the hellhound's throat.
"go!" yelled blacklight.
Golden heart and duster jumped out and fired upon the second hellhound. The hellhound did not have time to react and was immediately gunned down.
"damn it we are good!" said duster.
Then both of the hellhound's energy weapons fall apart.
"the hell?" said blacklight.
"they must have rigged them to break after the owner's death." said duster. "so their guns can't be used against them."
"damn" said golden heart.
"you......."
Blacklight looked and noticed that the hellhound that duster and golden heart shot was still alive.
"still alive?" said golden heart.
"not for long." said duster as he aimed his battle saddle at the hound's head.
"no" said blacklight. "we need to get information from him"
Blacklight holstered his knife and walker over to the hellhound.
"listen good" said blacklight. "try anything and my friend over there will shoot your brains out. We want answers."
"please.... Don't..... Hurt...... Me...." moaned the hellhound.
"then start talking" said blacklight. "where is your boss!?"
"bottom...... Of the mine...." the hellhound was turning pale. "he made......... Us..... Wake up......"
"who?" asked blacklight.
"death..... Fang...." moaned the hellhound.
The hellhound stopped moving.
"death fang......" said duster. "we got our head honcho that's for sure"
"how do we get to the bottom of the mine?" asked blacklight.
"we take this tunnel, then bank right." replied duster. "after that we just take another lift down."  
They followed duster's lead but when they reached the lift, they stopped.
"why are we stopping?" asked golden heart.
"have you noticed that we haven't seen any other hellhounds since the first two." said duster.
"you don't think they are...." said blacklight.
"I do" said duster.
Then at that moment multiple hellhounds leaped down from above.
"get them!" yelled one of them.
"ambush!" yelled blacklight as he floated out his shotgun.
Golden heart took out her needler pistol and began firing. The hellhounds took out their magical plasma rifles and began firing at the trio. Blacklight blasted one with his shotgun, causing the hound to erupt into a bunch of red chunks.
"there's too many!" yelled duster as he fired a burst from his battle saddle into a nearby hellhound.
"get to the lift!" yelled blacklight.
The three made a break for it, shooting any hellhound that jumped in their way. They made it into the lift, golden heart pushed the button and the lift decended down.
"in your faces you ugly sons of bitches!" yelled golden heart.
"let's kill death fang!" said blacklight.
The lift reached the bottom and the three got out. The bottom was dark, half of it was so dark you could not see. The ground was riddled with pony skeletons and scraps of armor. Some weapons littered the ground.
"death fang do this?" asked black.
"yes..." said a voice.
"death fang I presume?" said duster.
"you would be correct" replied the voice. "I take it your here to kill me just like the others?"
"yep" said blacklight "now show yourself ya stupid hellhound!"
Death fang just laughed.
"hound... Let me assure you...."
A large red dragon with piercing yellow eyes, blue spikes, and an orange chest rose from the dark part of the area.
"I am no mere hellhound" said the dragon.
Blacklight and the others looked with surprise.
"oh shit." said duster.
"that is a bucking big dragon" said blacklight.
"we are so dead" said golden heart
"now." began death fang. "I do believe its breakfast time."
death fang swiped at them with his claws but they dodged.
"what now!?" asked duster.
Blacklight put away his shotgun and levitated a sniper rifle that was next to a skeleton on the floor along with some nearby magazines for it.
"kill it!" said blacklight.
Blacklight fired a shot at death fang but it bounced off.
"well least I'm going down fighting" duster muttered to himself.
Duster open fired on the large dragon but it also did not face much of an effect.
"fools!" bellowed death fang. " it will take more than mere guns to beat me!"
"bullets keep flying off his scales!" yelled duster.
"try aiming for the eyes!" yelled golden heart as she drew her needler pistol.
Golden heart fired a needle into death fang's left eye , causing the dragon to clutch it in pain. Death fang let out a loud roar.
"those chemicals don't mix well with your eyes Do they!?" yelled golden heart.
"this way!" yelled blacklight, pointing to a tunnel.
The three ran into the tunnel.
"oh no you don't!" cried deathfang.
Deathfang followed them.
"we can't outrun him!" yelled duster.
"look!" yelled black light.
It was a minecart, it was on a set of tracks and there was a skeleton with a missile launcher battle saddle in it.
"get in the cart!" yelled blacklight.
Blacklight, duster, and golden heart jumped into the cart and released the brake, causing the cart to move. Death fang continued to follow them.
"he's catching up!" yelled duster.
"gold!" said blacklight.
"yeah?" replied golden heart.
Blacklight levitated the missile launcher onto golden heart's back and strapped it on with magic.
"use this on him!" said blacklight.
"black you know how I feel about these!" said golden heart.
"would you rather death fang eats us!?" yelled duster
"good point!" yelled golden heart.
Golden heart fired a missile and it knocked death fang back a bit, but then he resumed his chase.
"stop them!" cried death fang.
Two hell hounds leaped in front of the cart.
"ride ends here!" yelled one of the hounds.
"duster!" yelled blacklight.
"on it!"
Duster shot the two hell hounds down with his battle saddle and the cart ran over their corpses. The bodies splattered as the Cart ran over them.
"duck!" screamed golden heart.
The three ducked into the Cart just as fire burst from death fang's mouth.
"we need to end this now!" said blacklight.
The three got up and saw that the cart was about to hit a wall.
"shit!" yelled duster.
The trio jumped out just in time. The cart impacted the wall and broke apart. They landed on the ground with a thud.
"everypony alright?" asked blacklight.
"I think my hoof is sprained." said golden heart, clutching her hoof.
"we won't be ok in a moment!" yelled duster.
Death fang stopped in front of them.
"looks like you have nowhere to go ponies." said death fang.
The dragon smiled.
"I think I'll eat the blonde one first."
Blacklight got up.
"leave......." begun blacklight
Blacklight's eyes closed and his horn glowed a bright green.
"my friends......"
The dragon clutched it's chest.
"muh..... My heart!" cried death fang.
"ALONE!!!!!!"
Blacklight's eyes shot open. They glowed a bright green color that matched the glow of his horn.
Death fang fell to his knees.
"what..... My...... IT HURTS!!!!!" bellowed death fang.
The dragon's heart burst from it's chest surrounded in a green glow. The mighty beast fell dead onto the floor.The glow from it's heart vanished and the heart dropped the the ground.
".......... Damn" said duster.
The glow from blacklight's eyes and horn vanished.
"that was some damn good levitation there black" said duster.
"thanks" said blacklight.
Golden heart smiled.
"we killed a dragon" said golden heart. "we killed a dragon."
Duster let out a laugh.
"this will make one hell of a story!" said duster.
Blacklight smiled at his aconplishment.
"blade will never believe this." blacklight said to himself.  
The three were on their way back to San de neighgo. Golden heart couldn't move due to her leg injury so duster and blacklight had to carry her back.
"your heavier than ya look gold!" said duster.
"shut up" said golden heart.
They reached the town gates.
"were back!" yelled blacklight.
The gates opened and the mayor was waiting on the other side.
"since your all alive I take it you did it." asked the mayor.
"yep" replied duster.
"you have got to hear what happened" said golden heart.
"A dragon?" asked the mayor. "it was a dragon?"
They were all inside town hall. With the exception of golden heart who was having her hoof treated.
"yep!" said duster. "black here ripped the thing's heart out!"
"I'm really impressed." said the mayor.
"it was my pleasure" said blacklight.
"I've talked with the townsfolk" started the mayor. "and we pulled together a reward for you."
"what's the reward?" asked blacklight.
"well I heard you needed supplies, so whatever supplies you need for your trip are on the house." said the mayor.
"that's really kind of you mayor" said blacklight.
"it's the least we could do." said the mayor.  
The next day, blacklight and golden heart left with their supplies, and some specialty ammo that primer had given them as a token of gratitude.
"next stop zebra outpost!" said golden heart.
"hopefully that zebra will be there." said blacklight.
"hey wait up!" yelled a voice.
They looked and saw duster running up to them with his battle saddle on one side, a saddlebag on his other side with a baseball bat handle sticking out.
"I told ya to see me before ya left!" said duster.
"what is it?" asked blacklight?
"well I was wondering if there's room for me in this group." replied duster.
Blacklight and golden heart both smiled.
"after what we been through, of course you can!" said blacklight.
"ya just made my day black!" said duster.
The trio continued walking.
"let's find us a zebra!" said blacklight.

Chapter 6: the colors of my foe
Blacklight and co had been reeking for most if the day. It was getting dark so they agreed to set up camp.
"so duster." started golden heart.
"yeah?" replied duster.
"can ya tell us more about your raider days?" asked golden heart.
Blacklight lit a fire using an incineration spell.
"yeah" added blacklight.
"guess I could tell ya a little bit" said duster.
Duster cleared his throat and begun.
"believe it or not, being a raider had some perks. I always had food, and I learned how to make some things"
"What kind of things?" asked blacklight as he floated out three cans of pork and beans.
"drugs, bombs." replied duster. "I even made my own drug. I call it patch"
"Why?" asked golden heart.
"it's a mix of a healing potion, pain killers, and hydra." it patches ya right up and you wont feel that funky sensation healing potions normally give ya."
Duster took a bottle of bluish purple liquid from his saddlebag.
"But it can only be consumed once per hour." Added duster.
Duster put the bottle back into his saddle bag.
"Sounds handy." said golden heart.
Blacklight tossed duster a can of pork and beans and he caught it in his hooves.
"we could use something like that" said blacklight. "can you make some more of that stuff?"
Duster smirked.
"if ya get me the proper ingredients." replied duster.
Blacklight handed golden heart the second can of pork and beans.
"So what's the plan when we find the zebras?" asked goldenheart.
"well it depends on if they are hostile or not." replied blacklight. As he opened his can with his knife.
"um, could you-"
Before goldenheart could finish blacklight floated the knife over to her can, opened it, then returned the knife to his holster.
"thanks" said goldenheart.
Duster opened his can using his teeth.
"any last minute questions?" asked duster.
"just one" replied blacklight as he swallowed a mouthful of pork and beans. "why do you have that baseball bat?"
Duster looked at the baseball bat handle sticking out of his saddlebag.
"when I was a little foal, my old man gave me it" replied duster. "he said bones, your gunna crack some skulls just like me."
duster poured some pork and beans into his mouth and swallowed.
"never had the heart to get rid of it."
Blacklight smiled.
"least you had a dad" said goldenheart.
The smile left black's face.
"you don't have a dad?" asked blacklight.
Goldenheart looked down.
"I did........" Began goldenheart. " But he turned his back on my mom the moment he had his way with her."
goldenheart poured pork and beans into her mouth and swallowed.
"bastard never gave a damn bout me" said golden heart. "my mom loved me though. but I. Wish that dad would have stayed......"
Blacklight put a hoof on goldenheart's shoulder.
"it's ok" said blacklight.
Duster finished off his meal and leaned his back against a rock.
"well I'm off to bed" said duster.
Duster adjusted his hat to cover his eyes.
"don't get too loud"
Duster fell asleep while goldenheart and blacklight blushed a bright red.
"uh.... Night I guess" said blacklight.
Blacklight curled up and fell asleep on the ground.
"night" replied goldenheart.
Goldenheart fell asleep lying on her back.
The next morning they continued walking. They were quiet for awhile untill blacklight decided to start up a conversation.
"so you think these zebras will know where my father's murderer is?" asked blacklight.
"I have no idea" replied duster. "this place used to be full of zebras at one point"
"when?" asked golden heart.
"way before the war" replied duster. "according to ledgend, the western wastes used to be entirely zebra. Then some time later celestia acquired the land and ponies became the dominant species."
" well there obviously isn't alot now" said blacklight. "I haven't seen a zebra since the ones who killed my father"
"well zebras are rare in the wasteland now" said duster.
"when should we be there?" asked golden heart.
Blacklight stopped and checked his pip buck.
"if we keep walking, we can get there by this evening" replied blacklight.
The trio continued walking.  
The three stopped at what appeared to be the wreckage of a wagon. There were crates scattered around the wreak.
"well look at that" said duster.
"search for supplies" said blacklight.
Duster broke open a wooden crate with a strong kick with his hind legs.
"hello" said duster noticing something that had caught his eye.
Duster pushed away broken pieces of wood and uncovered a pack of cigarettes.
" dibs on these" said duster as he lifted the pack in a dim orange glow and put them away in his saddlebag.
"that stuff will kill you" said goldenheart as she struggled to open a tightly sealed crate.
" so do drugs but ponies keep doing them" said duster.
Blacklight noticed a trunk close to the wreakage. Blacklight opened the trunk and noticed it only had one thing inside it. It was another memory orb.
"keep watch" said blacklight.
His curiosity got the better of him and he took the orb out of the trunk. Then focusing his magic on it the world around began to go white.

Blacklight immediately recognized the area he was in. It was just like the first orb he experienced. He also noticed that he was the same pony as the first orb.
"moon dust" blacklight thought to himself.
Moon dust was trotting towards that library from before. He opened the door and the purple librarian pony called twilight sparkle stood reading a book.
" twilight?" said moon dust.
Twilight put her book away and walked up to moon dust.
"hey it's you" said twilight.
"I'm just returning that book I checked out." said moon dust as he levitated that fellowship of the knight book from before.
Twilight took the book from him and put it on a nearby shelf.
"it was a great book" said moon dust.
"it was" added twilight.
"could I ask you something?" asked moon dust.
Blacklight could tell that he was nervous.
"sure" replied twilight.
"you want to go to that Octavia concert with me?" moon dust asked nervously.
"sounds like fun" replied twilight. "pick me up at eight"
"great!" said moon dust as he tried to contain his joy.
Then everything went white.

Blacklight found himself back at the wreckage with golden heart and duster staring at him.
"so what was in that orb?" asked duster.
Blacklight put the orb into his bag with the others.
"a stallion's cherished memory" replied blacklight.  
The three continued walking untill they saw a building in the distance.
"that's the place" said blacklight.
Duster took a pair of binoculars out of his saddlebag and handed them to blacklight.
"see what we got waiting for us" said duster.
Blacklight nodded and looked through the binoculars.
The building itself was a metal building with a fence around it. Sure enough there were zebras guarding it. They wore bizarre metal armor that covered their front, their hind legs, and their muzzles. They wore goggles and had glowing machines strapped to their back. They levitated bizarre looking rifles.
"wait." said blacklight "are they levitating those guns? That's...... Impossible!"
"What's wrong?" asked duster.
Blacklight gave the binoculars to duster and he looked.
"what in the hay?" said duster awestruck. "either we are both high as buck or they really are using magic to hold their guns"
"maybe those things on their back have something to do with it." replied blacklight.
"what do you think they are? Some sort of magic generator?" asked golden heart
"might just be" replied blacklight.
Duster put the binoculars away.
"so what's the plan?" asked duster.
"I think we need to get a closer look" said blacklight.
Blacklight and co were only a few feet away from the compound.
"ok we got closer" said golden heart. "now what?"
Blacklight paused to think.
"duster could you try going up to them?" asked blacklight.
"sure I'll go up to the zebras with superior technology and make friends with them." said duster sarcastically.
"well do you have a better-
"freeze!"
Blacklight and co turned to see an armored zebra pointing it's rifle at them.
"why do you come here you filthy pony" asked the zebra.
"who are you calling filthy?" replied duster.
"uh hi sorry I'f we are trespassing" started blacklight.
"I ought to-
The zebra stopped mid sentence.
"is that?"
The zebra fixed his gaze to the key around blacklight's neck.
"he seems interested in your key black" said golden heart.
"at long last...." said the zebra.
He pushed the barrel of his rifle right into blacklight's face.
"what the!?" yelled blacklight.
"your comming with me." ordered the zebra.
"no I'm staying here" replied blacklight.
Duster aimed his battle saddle at the zebra.
"hooves off pal!" said duster.
"shut the buck up you filth-
Before he could finish duster filled the zebra's head with bullets. The zebra fell to the ground dead.
"who's filthy now bitch!?" screamed duster.
"he knew about the key" said blacklight.
"uh we have a problem" said golden heart.
Duster's shooting had alerted the guards that they were there.
"intruders!" yelled one zebra.
"the grey one! He has the key!" yelled another.
"buck." said blacklight as he floated out his sniper rifle.
Golden heart took out her syringe gun.
"definitely hostile" said duster.
The zebras began to open fire with their weapons.
"behind cover!" yelled duster.
Duster jumped behind a large rock. Golden heart did the same. Blacklight leaped towards the boulder but a bullet from one of the zebra's guns hit his leg. He fell to the ground, Blacklight couldn't move.
"help!" yelled blacklight.
Duster pulled blacklight behind the boulder.
"can't move!" said blacklight.
"static bullets!" replied duster. "zebra assault rifle enchants it's bullets to stun it's targets."
Duster took a small bottle of red liquid From his saddle bag and poured some of it into blacklight's mouth.
Blacklight felt the paralysis vanish.
"thanks" said blacklight.
Blacklight peeked his head from behind the boulder and took aim with the sniper rifle. Blacklight fired a shot that hit one of the zebras on the compound's roof in the flank. It staggered and fell off of the compound.
"I have an idea!" said duster.
Duster took a grenade out of his bag.
"hit em with this!"
Blacklight lifted the grenade with magic and pulled the pin.
"eat it mother buckers!" yelled blacklight.
He threw the grenade and it hit a zebra square in the face before blowing it to bits.
"ha ha! I live when things blow up!" yelled duster.
Duster fired a burst from his battle saddle at a unlucky zebra.
"use the launcher!" yelled a zebra.
A zebra with a missile launcher battle saddle fired a missile and it landed in front of blacklight and co.... But it didn't detonate.
"..... It's a dud?" said golden heart.
A set of vents opened on the missile and green gas began spewing out of them. The three began coughing.
"the- cough!- buck!?" yelled blacklight.
"shut they- cough!- are trying- cough!- ta gas us out!" yelled duster.
"any- cough!- bright idea-cough!- s!?" asked golden heart.
Blacklight tried as hard as he could and stapes the missile in a green magical glow.
"hope that- cough!- armor doesn't have - cough!- gas masks!" yelled blacklight.
Blacklight lifted the missile out of the ground with magic and threw it back at the zebras, it landed on the ground in front of them, and the zebras began coughing.
"move up while they are distracted!" yelled duster.
Dusted took out his baseball bat, holding it in his mouth and charged the compound. Black put away his sniper rifle and took out his shotgun before he and golden heart followed duster's lead.
Duster reached the compound just as the gas dispersed. He galloped towards a zebra and smacked him across the face with his bat, shattering the zebra's goggles. The zebra fell to the ground and duster finished him off by smashing his head under his hoof.
Blacklight and golden heart quickly caught up and blacklight fired a shot into a nearby zebra. Goldenheart fired syringes at the unarmored sides of two nearby zebras. The chemicals in the syringes took effect and the zebras fell to the ground shivering. Blacklight quickly finished them off with head shots.
"think that's the last of them" said blacklight, putting his shotgun away.
Duster put his bat away.
"aw, I was starting to have fun." said duster jokingly.
Golden heart put away her syringe gun.
"what now?" asked golden heart.
Blacklight looked at her then at the compound.
"duster, keep guard outside, gold, your with me." replied blacklight.
The two entered the compound.
The inside was built mostly of steel. It had a simple layout, a large room full of beds, a kitchen, a room with tables and chairs. Blacklight and golden heart walked around the facility until they stopped at a room labeled office. Blacklight slowly opened the door. The room had filing cabinets, a desk, a terminal, and a ham radio.
"wonder why there's no zebras inside?" asked golden heart.
"I think they all joined the fight outside" said blacklight.
They walked into the room.
"I'll check the terminal" said golden heart.
Golden heart walked over to the terminal only to discover that it had no screen.
"it's broken?" said goldenheart.
"grevier base come in!"
Golden heart shrieked in suprise.
"buck!"
Blacklight turned to the source of the sound, it was the ham radio, it was on.
"greiver base! This is your commander! Respond!" yelled the voice coming from the radio.
Blacklight froze up, he heard that voice before, 14 years ago.....

"Clean up this mess! I want that key!"

It was his father's murderer.
Blacklight dashed to the radio and picked up the mic with magic.
"ive been looking for you" said blacklight.
Goldenheart looked at blacklight with confusion.
"who is this?" asked the voice.
"the pony who killed every zebra at this base." replied blacklight. "the same pony who is going to kill you!"
"and why would YOU want to kill me?" said the voice.
"don't play games you killed my father! You slit his bucking throat!" yelled blacklight.
"ah I remember him..... Stuborn bastard." said the voice. "this explains what he did with the key."
Blacklight was angry now.
"why do you want this stupid key!?" yelled blacklight.
The voice laughed.
"you don't know?..... Well let's just say it's the key that unlocks our future." replied the voice.
"our?" asked blacklight.
"yes our future" said the voice. "we are the true heirs of equestria, we are the future, we are the zebras of the west, we are the horde!"
Blacklight slammed his hoof against the desk.
"I'm going to kill you!" yelled blacklight.
The voice merely laughed again.
"you think you can kill me? The field commander of the horde?" asked the voice mockingly. "who do you think you are!"
"my name..... Is blacklight." said blacklight.
The voice paused.
"well blacklight" said the voice. "I look forward to killing you"
"I told you my name now tell me yours!" demanded blacklight.
The voice laughed, harder than before.
"oh you slay me black! You hunt me yet you don't even know my name!?"
Blacklight growled angrily.
"very well, I am Commander Zex." replied the voice. "I'd love to talk some more, but I have to go. However I will leave you with this, I will have that key, even if I have to tear it out of your filthy pony mouth, it will be ours! THE WEST IS RIGHTFULLY OURS! LONG LIVE THE FUTURE!, LONG LIVE THE HORDE!"
The line went dead.
"damn it!" yelled blacklight.
Blacklight smashed the ham radio with his hoof and let the mic fall to the ground.
"who was that?" asked goldenheart.
Blacklight looked at golden heart.
"that was the bastard who killed my father...."
Blacklight and golden heart exited the compound to find duster standing next to a small pile of zebra weapons.
"guys!" yelled duster.
Duster galloped over to the two.
"zebra weapons" said duster gesturing towards the pile. "we hit the motherload!"
Blacklight floated a bottle of apple whiskey out of duster's saddlebag
"if you wanted booze all ya had to do was ask" said duster.
Blacklight walked over to the pile and drenched it in apple whiskey.
"hey!" yelled duster.
Blacklight's horn glowed red. He touched the horn to the pile and it began to smoke, then he took two steps back and the pile caught fire.
"the buck!?" yelled duster.
Duster galloped over to blacklight and tackled him onto the ground.
"are you crazy!?" yelled duster.
"these weapons were made for the sole purpose of eliminating ponykind!" replied blacklight.
"I can live with that!" yelled duster. "I'm talking about my last bottle of apple whiskey!"
Then a bottle of apple whiskey dropped in front of duster. Duster scrambled off if blacklight and cradled the bottle.
"black!" yelled goldenheart.
Golden heart galloped over to blacklight and helped him up.
"you ok?" asked golden heart.
"I'm fine..." replied blacklight. "where did the whiskey come from?"
Blacklight turned to see a red sprite bot in front of duster with an open front compartment. The sprite bot turned towards blacklight.
"hello again black" said the sprite bot.
Black trotted over the the sprite bot.
"one?"......

Blacklight looked at one.
"its nice to see you again black" said one.
"did that sprite bot just talk?" asked golden heart.
Duster put the bottle of whiskey into his saddle bag.
"thanks for the booze" said duster.
"I thought you wouldn't survive black, you proved me wrong" said one.
"when we first met you used a different sprite bot". Said blacklight.
"I have multiple sprite bots roaming the wastes, this is one of them." replied one.
"can I ask you something?" asked blacklight.
"knock yourself out" replied one
"we hit a dead end" said blacklight. "where can we learn more about the horde?, and my key."
One paused.
"I'll tell you this" started one. "the horde are the worst thing in the waste, worse than that damn draft, worse than the raiders, worse then the slavers."
One floated over to the burning weapon pile.
"as for your key, only thing that might have a clue in the area is the old flim flam industries garage."
One floated back over to blacklight.
"its a long shot, but it's a start." said one.
One zapped black's pip buck with a jolt of electricity.
"I sent the location to your pip buck" said one. "good luck"
The voice from the sprite bot vanished, replaced by polka music as the robot floated away.
"who was that?" asked golden heart.
"a friend" replied blacklight.
Black looked at his pipbuck's map.
"let go" said blacklight. "we got a ways to go".
They had been walking for an hour and a half. Duster floated out a cigarette with magic and placed it into his mouth. Then he floated out a lighter and lit the cigarette.
"how long you been a smoker? " asked blacklight, deciding to break the ice out of boredom.
"since I was 18" replied duster.
"guys look!" said golden heart, pointing to a wreaked wagon.
Blacklight walked up to the wagon and investigated it.
"nothing here!" yelled blacklight.
Goldenheart joined black at the wagon.
"guess somepony beat us to this wreak" said golden heart.
Duster stopped, and dropped his cigarette.
"aw crap" said duster.
"what's that?" asked golden heart pointing to a blinking device lodged into the bottom of the wagon.
"AMBUSH!" yelled duster.
Duster tackled the two away from the wagon just before the device exploded.
"the hay!?" yelled goldenheart.
"you almost fell for the oldest raider trick in the book!" replied duster.
"good thing you rushed in when you did duster." said blacklight.
"well we still have to get the buck out of here before the raiders come to search the wreak." said duster.
The trio ran from the scene as fast as they could.
It was night now, they had decided to set up camp by a large rock. Duster started a fire while goldenheart set a tin of insta-mash by the fire to cook. Blacklight was sharpening his knife.
"so golden heart." said duster. "what was it like living in one of those stable things?"
Golden heart looked at duster.
"well definitely better than life out here...... If your anypony but me."
Blacklight stopped sharpening his knife and looked at golden heart.
"you like the wasteland more than the stable?" asked blacklight.
"yeah" replied golden heart. "don't get me wrong though, stable life was good. Plenty of food, no radiation, you could watch a movie whenever you wanted. But it lacked excitement."
Golden heart took out her syringe gun and started loading it.
"out here, every day is an adventure. And I got more friends here than I did back in the stable.
"you must not have had any friends then." said duster.
Blacklight gave duster a look of disapproval.
"actually your right." said golden heart. "that's what happens when your an illegitimate child."
Goldenheart closed her eyes and sighed.
"you guys are the best friends I ever had" said golden heart as she opened her eyes.
Blacklight put his knife away and floated the insta-mash away from the fire.
"this the last of the food?" asked blacklight.
"we got enough for breakfast and lunch" replied duster.
Blacklight opened the tin and floated out three spoons.
"if we share anyways". Added blacklight.
Blacklight levitated two of the spoons over to goldenheart and duster. The rest of the night was quiet.
The next morning golden heart made breakfast in the form of a can of peas, then after eating they continued to walk.
"how close are we?" asked duster.
Blacklight checked his pipbuck.
"we can make it today if we keep going straight." replied blacklight.
"good!" said golden heart.
Their moment of peace was interupted by a raspy screech.
"the buck was that!?" said golden heart.
"well shit." said duster.
Duster readied his battle saddle.
"we are gunna have us some fun!"
Blacklight floated out his 9mm pistol.
"whats happening?" asked blacklight.
Duster smiled.
"feral ghoul ponies"
Then as if on cue, ten Ghoulified ponies raced towards them.
"eep!" yelled golden heart.
Golden heart took out her syringe gun.
"ha ha! The fun has been multiplied by ten!" yelled duster.
Duster began To open fire on the ghoul ponies, blacklight took aim and shot the head off of a charging ghoul pony.
"get them away!" yelled golden heart.
Golden heart fired multiple syringes into a nearby ghoul pony, the chemicals in the syringes began to take effect and the ghoul fell to the ground.
"hell ya!" yelled duster as he finished off the remaining ghoul ponies.
Blacklight looked at the ghoul corpses before him.
"glad that's over" said blacklight as he put his pistol away.
Golden heart put her syringe gun away and moved close to blacklight.
"what the buck happened!?" yelled goldenheart.
"feral ghoul ponies" replied duster. Duster trotted over to a nearby corpse and began searching it.
"these ain't friendly like colgate, feral ghoul ponies are crazy, no sense of reasoning. they are animals".
"I feel kind of bad for then" said blacklight, looking at the lifeless body of a ghoul pony. "these things had feelings once."
"back in my raider days, we killed these things for fun." said duster. "even now I still love the thrill."
Duster took a bottle of whiskey off of the corpse using his mouth and set it in front of blacklight.
"drink up."
Blacklight shrugged and lifted the bottle up and drank from it.
"not bad" said blacklight.
Duster smiled.
"good times".
The remainder of the day had been spent walking. The only time they stopped was to eat lunch, a box of fancy colt snack cakes. The garage was in their view.
It was a medium sized building with a large garage. The building was surrounded by a chain link fence.
"hold up" said duster.
Blacklight floated out a pair of binoculars. Blacklight looked through the binoculars and saw that the building was occupied by raiders.
"damn, raiders" said blacklight.
"got a plan?" asked golden heart.
"I do." said duster.
Duster took out a tin can with a bunch of wires on it.
"I got 12 tin can bombs" said duster. "get me close enough."
"alright" said blacklight. "you sneak over there and blow them to bits."
Blacklight floated out his sniper rifle.
"gold and me will distract them." said black.
Duster nodded and took off towards the garage.
"ready?" asked blacklight.
"ready" replied golden heart.
Black light looked through the sniper rifle scope. He took aim and fired. The shot pierced the chest of a raider pony. His death alerted the other raiders.
"INTRUDERS!" yelled a raider.
Blacklight fired a shot from his rifle. It hit a raider clean in the leg but did not kill it. Black fired a second shot that went through a pony's head and finished off the other raider. At that point blacklight saw an explosion near a group of raiders.
"duster is in." said blacklight as he put his rifle away and took out his pistol.
Golden heart took out her syringe gun and the two charged the building.
Meanwhile, duster kept throwing tin can grenades at confused raiders.
"I love this job." said duster as he bucked an armed tin can grenade at a raider pony.
Blacklight and golden heart rushed into the fenced in area and began firing at the raiders, taking then down one by one. Only five remained now.
"oh shit!" yelled one.
"mommy!" yelled another.
Duster joined back up with blacklight and golden heart.
"this is too easy" said duster.
"don't jynx it." said blacklight.
"WHO DARES ATTACK THE LAIR OF ME!?" bellowed a voice loudly.
"boss!" yelled a raider.
"that can't be good" said golden heart.
The front door flew open and a large unicorn pony wearing metal armor fashioned from scrap, a helmet made from an engine, and levitating a chainsaw barged out.
"NONE SHALL SURVIVE MOTÖRHEAD!" yelled the armored pony calling himself mororhead.
"ho-ly- buck." said duster.
"getem boss!" yelled one raider.
Mororhead chainsawed the raider in half.
"NOPONY BOSSES MOTÖRHEAD AROUND!" yelled motörhead.
Motörhead charged at the trio, but they managed to get out of the way.
"this is not good." said golden heart.
Blacklight loaded a magazine of hollow points into his pistol.
"we killed a dragon, this is nothing!" said blacklight.
Blacklight fired multiple shots at Motörhead, but they all bounced off of his metal armor.
"GGGRRRRRAAAAAA!!!!!!"
Motörhead swung his chainsaw at blacklight, he stepped out of the way, but the chainsaw grazed his leg. Blacklight bit his lip.
"ow!" yelled blacklight.
"black!" yelled golden heart.
"no more mr. Nice pony!" yelled duster.
Duster stepped forwards a step and threw down a circular device.
"hey ugly!" yelled duster. "your mom was a bitch!"
This angered motörhead. Motörhead charged at duster. Duster took two large steps backwards. Motörhead stepped on the device, activating it. The device blew up, the explosion sent Motörhead flying over duster and landed on his head, a sound of bones snapping was heard.  
, the sound of his skull and neckbreaking, Motörhead was dead.
"bitch" said duster as he adjusted his hat.
Golden heart rushed over to blacklight.
"you alright?" asked golden heart.
"I'll be fine." replied blacklight.
blacklight floated out a healing potion and drank it. The wound healed itself.
"I'm good" said blacklight.
"if you two are finished making out we have a garage to search" said duster.
Golden heart and blacklight blushed  
The three walked into the garage. The ground had multiple mattresses on it, and a single vehicle.
"you guys check out the rest of the building." said duster. "I'll look around here"
Blacklight and golden heart trotted up to a locked door.
"raiders must not have made it in there" said golden heart.
Blacklight floated out a screwdriver and a Bobby pin and began picking the lock. It was an easy lock, blacklight opened it on the first attempt.
"let's see what we got." said golden heart.
They opened the door and looked around. It was a large office with a desk, filing cabinets, a safe, a terminal and a ham radio.
blacklight walked towards the terminal when he heard a crunching noise. Blacklight looked down and saw that he stepped on a pony skull. There were two skeletons on the ground. One of them had a pistol next to it.
"damn" said blacklight.
Blacklight walked over to the terminal and accessed it.
There were articles in the terminal. The first was a diary, the second read operation silver bullet. Blacklight opened the diary document first.
Entry 1-
I've heard that applejack's brother died a few weeks ago. Although I show great dislike towards him, I can't help but feel sorry for the apples. Maybe I should send them that prototype I was working on.

Celestia damn him. I found out what flam has been doing this entire time. He has been working with the zebras! While I spent hours designing automated carriages and new weapons for the military, flam was working on a super weapon for the zebras. A bomb! Ive had it! Blacklight read the last entry then looked at the skeletons. Flim and flam. Film shot flam, then out of grief shot himself. Brothers......
Blacklight opened up the operation silver bullet file, most of it was corrupted save for two files.  
Blacklight opened the first file.
Dear zebra Cesar-
I believe that this weapon is exactly what you need to win the war. I'm sending the first one to you along with the schematics. My only condition is that this weapon not be used against me or my brother. I expect my payment in the usual manner.

Blacklight opened the second file. It was blueprints. Blueprints for a Bomb. Most of the plans blacklight could not understand, but he could tell that it was plans for a bomb.
"hey black!" yelled golden heart.
Blacklight turned to see golden heart putting a gun on the desk.
"look what I found."
Blacklight got up and looked at the gun. It was an assault rifle, but it was different. It had a mid-range scope and a green synthetic stock and grip rather than wood.
"where did you find this?" asked blacklight.
"it was under the desk" replied golden heart.
Blacklight picked it up with magic and slipped it into his saddlebag.
"anything?" asked golden heart.
"nothing about the key." said blacklight.
Blacklight trotted over to the ham radio and turned it on.
"what are you doing?" asked golden heart.
"seeing if Zex is on" replied blacklight.
He tried to change the station but the knob to change it was missing. Blacklight decided to listen into the conversation going on this station.
"do we have a deal?" asked a voice.
"no your asking for too much." replied another.
The second voice sounded familiar to blacklight. And then it hit him. It was lero.
"lero!" said blacklight with a smile.
"who?" asked golden heart.
"head of the talon camp I grew up at." replied blacklight. "he was like an uncle to me."
"give us the caps or we kill your little merc." said the voice on the radio.
"kill him and you will be dealing with every griffon in this camp" replied lero.
"fine, I'll give you two more days." began the voice. "after that blade will be a slave. Then if you want him back, you have to buy his feathery ass for an even bigger price."
The transmission ended. Blacklight was in shock.
"blade."
Not only did somepony have a talon captive, but it was his brother, blade.
"you ok black?"asked golden heart.
Blacklight turned off the radio and looked at golden heart.
"my brother is in trouble."

Chapter 8: blood brothers.
Golden heart stared at blacklight.
"your brother?" asked golden heart.
"blade" replied blacklight.
The two stepped out of the office, back into the garage where duster was lying on a mattress drinking whiskey.
"oh!" said duster startled. "uh this mattress is secure......."
Duster gave a nervous smile.
"my brother is in Trouble." said blacklight.
Duster's fake smile went away.
"what happened?" asked duster.
"I overheard a radio conversation, slavers have him." replied blacklight.
Golden heart gave blacklight a hug.
"it's ok" said golden heart. "we will find him."
"there's a slave camp to the east" said duster.
Blacklight immediately looked at duster And golden heart ended the hug.
"I met an escaped slave from there." said duster. "he said he was at every slave camp in the western wastes, and it was the only one with a radio."
"then that means...." said blacklight.
"he's there black, he's there." replied golden heart.
The two smiled.
"one problem though" said duster. "by the time we walk there, your brother might be kaput."
Duster finished his whiskey and set the bottle down.
"unless ya can find a way to get us there in two days.." said duster.
Blacklight immediately looked at the vehicle in the garage. It was a red vehicle with wheels, a barrel, and some other things. It was damaged, but for the most part was intact.
blacklight looked at duster.
"can you fix this up?" asked blacklight.
Duster got up and looked at the vehicle.
"I recon that I can." replied duster.
Golden heart looked at blacklight.
"that's a Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000" said golden heart. "I read about this in a book, it can make cider on the go."
"a ride and a drink" said duster. "only thing missing is a built in lapdancer."
Goldenheart gave duster a death glare.
"ok I'll get to work on it, you two get tools and supplies" said duster.
Blacklight trotted back into the office and returned with flim and flam's safe floating next to him. Blacklight set the safe on the ground.
"gold search for their supplies." said blacklight.
Goldenheart smiled and nodded before searching the garage.
"we are comming blade." thought blacklight.
Duster had been working on the SSCS600 for over an hour. Blacklight passed the time by trying to unlock flim and flam's safe. He was still trying to open it.
"this is pretty tough to open" said blacklight.
"well its a safe, duh." replied duster.
Golden heart trotted in with saddlebags full of food.
"got the grub!" said goldenheart.
"great" said blacklight.
"guys I need the engine" said duster as he checked under the hood. "that yahoo was wearing it outside"
"I'll get it" said blacklight.
Blacklight trotted outside.
Backlight lifted the engine off of motorhead's head.
"hope blade is ok..."
Then blacklight noticed something, something flying towards the garage. Whatever it was, it was big.
Blacklight ran back into the garage with the engine.
"something's comming!" yelled blacklight.
"shit I need more time!" said duster.
Blacklight floated the engine over to duster.
"you and gold stall whatever the buck it is." said duster.
"understood" said golden heart.
Black and gold ran back outside. Gold took out her syringe gun while blacklight floated out his new assault rifle that his pip buck had labeled "the protector".
The flying creatures landed in front of them. Blacklight and goldenheart dropped their jaws.
They were Alicorns. Both were yellow-green with yellow starry manes and green eyes. There were two of them.
"halt!" yelled the first.
"your...." began blacklight.
"silence!" yelled the Alicorn.
"you have been branded as a threat to the west." said the second. "submit yourself or perish at the hooves of the draft."
The draft, blacklight remembered that one mentioned them.
"Alicorns?" asked golden heart.
"do you surrender!?" yelled the first Alicorn.
"no!" yelled blacklight.
Blacklight fired at the Alicorn but the bullets were blocked by a wall of magical energy.
"the buck?" said blacklight.
"foalish youth!" yelled the second Alicorn as her horn glowed yellow.
"look out!" yelled golden heart.
Black jumped out of the way just as a blast of yellow energy shot out of the alicorn's horn. Blacklight fired again, But the first Alicorn raised a wall of magical energy to block the shot.
"how much longer!?" yelled golden heart.
"Five minutes!" replied duster.
golden heart fired at the Alicorn with her syringe gun, but the syringes bounced off.
"Fool!" yelled the first Alicorn.
The Alicorn lifted her into the air with magic and floated her towards her.
"you are just a little bitch arnt you.!" yelled the Alicorn.
"I'm not a-"
She was cut off by the second Alicorn smacking her across the face with her hoof.
"im going to kill you slo-
"hey!"
Blacklight rushed forwards with flim and flam's safe hovering next to him.
"leave her alone!"
Blacklight hurled the safe with magic, the safe hit the Alicorn across the head and caused her to loose focus, dropping golden heart.
"ow" said golden heart.
Blacklight noticed that the safe was now open. Inside was some bits, documents,and a memory orb.
"grab the orb gold!" yelled blacklight.
Goldenheart noticed the orb and grabbed it and put it in her saddle bag.
"ready to go!" yelled duster.
The two ponies ran inside and got onto the SSCS6000.
"hold on!" yelled duster.
Duster turned on the vehicle and rammed it through the garage door.
"see ya buckers!" yelled duster as he drove the SSCS6000 away from the garage.
"we must get them!" yelled the second Alicorn.
"no." said the first. "send a telepathic message to the collector, the grey one could be of use to us."
They were driving down a ruined highway.
"next stop, black's brother!" said duster as he puffed on a cigarette.
Blacklight was sitting reading his book while golden heart watched the burnt scenery go by.
"the elements of harmony." said blacklight. "what happened to them duster?"
"they died black." replied duster. "they are 200 years old, they are obviously dead!"
Blacklight put his book away.
"you think blade is ok?" asked blacklight
Golden heart looked at blacklight.
"if he's anything like you, he's fine." replied golden heart with a smile.
Blacklight smiled back.
"could you hand me that memory orb?" asked blacklight.
Golden heart took the orb out of her saddle bag and handed it blacklight.
"I'll be busy with this" said blacklight.
Blacklight closed his eyes and touched his horn to the orb, and the world went white.

Blacklight was now a colt with red mane wearing a striped vest sitting in an office next to a mustached colt dressed similar to him.
"ready flim?" asked the colt.
Blacklight realized that he was experiencing the memories of the ponies he read about in the terminal.
"let's do this" said flim.
A knock was heard on the door.
"come in" said flim
An orange pony with a stenson entered the room with a briefcase in her mouth. She set it on the table and took a seat.
"flim.... Flam." said the orange mare.
Blacklight could swear he saw that pony before.
"miss applejack." said flam. "long time no see."
"wish it were longer" said the mare known as applejack.
"so what are these business negotiations you were talking about?" asked flim.
Applejack opened the briefcase and took out a folder.
"the ministry of technology wants to buy flim flam industries." said applejack. "your super cider squezzy 6000 especially interested them. "
Flam smiled
"our crowning achievement". Said flam.
"my associates believe that we could weaponize your invention for service use." said applejack.
"and what's in it for us?" asked flim.
"I knew y'all would say that" said applejack
Applejack took out a piece of paper from the folder.
"this contract states that ya will be paid fer your inventions, so long as none of them are sold to the enemy." said applejack. "along with a down payment of 1000 bits."
Flim and flam rubbed their chins.
"very tempting." said flim.
"but it's not enough." said flam.
"that's why ah got one last thing." said applejack.
She took a bottle out of her briefcase.
"this is cider made using a recipe developed by some of the best cider makers in equestria." said applejack. "ah know that yer company is suffering in its cider sales."
She set the bottle in front of the two.
"sign the contract and the recipe is yours." said applejack with a smug smile.
Flim turned to flam, both suprised by the offer.
"you have a deal." said flim.

Blacklight put the orb into his saddlebag.
"how long till we get there?" asked blacklight.
"tomorrow probably." replied duster.  
They drove through the night, and by morning they were getting much closer.
"what's the plan to break your bro out?" asked duster.
"well I figured you could stay with the escape vehicle." said blacklight.
Golden heart took a sip of her sunrise sarsaparilla.
"then what?" asked golden heart.
"then the two of us sneak in and break him out." replied blacklight.
"what about getting him out?, it could be pretty hard." said golden heart.
Blacklight smiled.
"I have an idea for that part."
Before blacklight could explain, he noticed something moving towards them in the distance.
"what's that?" asked blacklight.
Golden heart turned to look at the approaching mass.
"I don't know." said golden heart.
Suddenly, the mass moved faster towards them.
"it's coming at us!" yelled golden heart.
They could clearly see what was charging at them. It was an Alicorn like the others, only this one was pure black with a grey mane and tail, it was wearing goggles and it had a symbol drawn onto where it's cutie mark would be.
"another Alicorn?" said blacklight.
"this is just great." said duster.
The alicorn's horn began to glow a bright white.
"it's about to do something!" yelled golden heart.
Blacklight floated out his sniper rifle and took aim.
"no it won't." said blacklight.
But before he could fire, a white lasso like chain of energy shot out of the alicorn's horn and wrapped itself around blacklight, constricting him.
"the buck!" yelled blacklight.
He lost his concentration and dropped his sniper rifle. It fell off the SSCS6000 and was left in the dust.
"get this off me!" yelled blacklight.
Goldenheart tried to free blacklight, but to no avail. Blacklight was pulled off the vehicle and towards the black Alicorn.
"Black!" yelled duster and golden heart.
The Alicorn flew off with blacklight as its captive.
"let me go!" yelled blacklight.
"you have seen drafted into the great maiden's army." said the Alicorn. "please calm down."
The energy binds discharged electricity that electrocuted blacklight.
"GAH!"
Blacklight slowly sliped into unconsciousness from the pain.

Chapter 9: drafted.
Blacklight slowly awoke, he was in a concrete room in a prison cell with a similar cell across from his own. His knife and saddlebag, along with all his equipment was taken from him and he wore a collar around his neck.
"ooohhhhh." groaned blacklight as he rubbed his head.
Blacklight looked at His new surroundings.
"where am I?" Said blacklight.
"your in the pit."
Blacklight looked to the cell across from his, inside was a green Alicorn with a blue gas like mane, sky blue eyes, steel plates bolted onto her hooves, and wearing a collar similar to the one he was.
"what's going on?" asked blacklight.
"you've been drafted." said the Alicorn.
"what do you mean?" asked blacklight.
"they are going to turn you into one of them, a blindly obedient alicorn soldier."said the Alicorn.
"what!?" said blacklight
He was becoming worried.
"why are they doing this? Who is doing this.?" asked blacklight.
"they call themselves the draft." said the Alicorn. "they are a bunch of artificially created Alicorns led telepathically by her."
"whose her?" asked blacklight.
"she calls herself the war maiden." replied the Alicorn. "they never meet her, they just take orders."
"so your not one of them?" asked blacklight.
"no! They may have taken me and made me this thing, but I am not like them." said the Alicorn. "I'm special, I'm the only one who doesnt listen to that bitch."
"so your a traitor to them?" asked blacklight.
The Alicorn nodded.
"when they turn you into them, you loose everything. Your memories, your free will, your name, your become a number." said the Alicorn.
"do you have a name?" asked blacklight.
"eon." replied the Alicorn.
Eon pointed to blacklight's collar
"that collar your wearing is blocking your magic." said eon.
Suddenly an Alicorn similar to the one that attacked blacklight at the garage enters.
"your time." said the Alicorn,
The Alicorn unlocked the door.
Blacklight thought fast, he had to escape or else not only would blade be lost, he would become a drone in an Alicorn army. Blacklight got an idea. they took his weapons and magic, but there was one thing they did not take.
Blacklight jumped up at the Alicorn, stabbing it in the eye with its horn. The alicorn screamed in pain as blood spurted from its eye. Blacklight stabbed the Alicorn again, this time in its chest. He kept stabbing with his horn until the Alicorn stopped screaming. Blacklight looked at the alicorn's body, blood dripping from his own horn.
Eon looked with surprise.
Blacklight searched the body and found a key.
Blacklight. noticed a keyhole on eon's collar. He grabbed the key that was in his cell's lock in his mouth, and opened eon's cell.
"what are you doing?" asked eon.
Blacklight spit out the key in his mouth and picked up the other key.
"unlock my collar." said blacklight.
Eon took the key and unlocked blacklight's collar.
"thanks" said blacklight.
Blacklight levitated the key and unlocked eon's collar.
"your...... Freeing me?" asked eon.
"I need to get out of here or else my brother will die." said blacklight. "but I need help."
Eon smiled.
"what's the plan my friend?" asked eon."
"we need to get my gear first." said blacklight. "do you know where it would be at?"
"yes, I'll lead the way." replied eon.
Eon rushed out of the room and blacklight followed.
The two ran down a concrete hallway.
"what is this place anyways?" asked blacklight.
"before the war it was some sort of research facility, built into a mountain." said eon.
As they turned a corner, they saw three Alicorns blocking their path.
"fire!" yelled one Alicorn.
They fired bolts of magic from their horns.
"behind me my friend!" yelled Eon.
Blacklight got behind eon as her horn began to glow. A blue wall of magic rose in front of them, blocking the shots.
"begone!" yelled eon.
The wall of magic surged forwards at high speeds, crushing the three Alicorns against the end of the hallway.
"come my friend, before more arrive!"
They ran down the hallway, stopping at a steel door.
"your weapons are in here." said eon.
Eon grabbed the door with magic, then tore it out of its frame. Blacklight ran into the room.
The room was filled with shelves of ammo and weapons. Among them was blacklight's saddle bag and knife.
"there it is." said blacklight.
Blacklight Lifted the knife up with magic and put it into its holster on his leg. Then he levitated his saddlebag onto his back.
"ready yet?" asked eon.
"almost!" said blacklight.
Blacklight grabbed some ammo and grenades from the room and put them in his saddlebag. Blacklight floated out his assault rifle and loaded a full magazine into it.
"lets go!" said blacklight.
Blacklight exited the room.
"where's the exit?" asked blacklight.
"It's down further." said eon.
"I know a shortcut." said blacklight. "is there a floor below this one?"
Eon closed her eyes. When she opened them they were pure blue. She looked at the floor, then back at blacklight.
"yes but there are multiple Alicorns down there." said eon.
"how did you-"
"it's a spell that allows one to see living beings through objects." replied eon as her eyes returned to normal.
Blacklight smiled.
"let me know where they are."
Blacklight went back into the room, and exited with a box of c4
"I like this idea friend." said eon.
Blacklight placed the c4 according to where eon saw the Alicorns. When he finished placing the c4, they stepped away.
"fire in the hole!" said blacklight,  
He fired a shot from his rifle, detonating the c4 and blowing a hole in the floor.
"nice work." said eon.
The two jumped down the hole, the floor below was covered in rubble and Alicorn corpses.
"duster has to see this." said blacklight.
The two ran down the hallway.
They were nearing a large steel door.
"that's where they keep the chemicals that turn you into an Alicorn." said eon.
Gunfire could be heard from the other side.
"something is up." said eon. "the draft dont use guns."
They opened the door, inside five Alicorns were firing magic bolts at two ponies hiding behind an overturned steel crate. They were two ponies blacklight recognized.
"golden heart?, duster?"
"friends of yours?" asked eon.
Duster was firing at the Alicorns with his battle saddle, while Golden heart fired with her syringe gun. Their shots were deflected by magical shields that one of the Alicorns was creating.
"we have to help them." said blacklight.
Eon nodded and charged the five Alicorns.
The Alicorns noticed charging and generated a magical shield bubble around all of them. Eon reached them and raised her front hooves.
"no barrier can protect you!" yelled eon.
Eon slammed her hooves onto the shield bubble and it shattered like glass. Eon then fired sharp bolts of magic that pierced three of them through the head, while the remaining two were unfortunate enough to have been under eon's hooves when she broke the shield, they were pinned underneath her hooves.
Golden heart and duster looked in shock at the scene before them.
"all yours friend!" yelled eon.
Blacklight approached the pinned Alicorns and took aim with his rifle. He fired a burst into each of their heads, killing them.
"thanks." said blacklight.
"black!" yelled goldenheart.
She ran up to him and have him a hug, causing blacklight to blush.
"good to see you too." said blacklight.
Golden heart ended the hug. Duster approached them.
"good to see your alive." said duster.
"how did you find me?" asked black light.
"we followed the thing that took you." replied golden heart.
"the collector." added Eon
Duster looked at eon.
"and whose your new friend?" asked duster.
"this is eon." said blacklight.
"we need to destroy that tank." said eon.
Won pointed to a large metal tank that was filled with a mysterious liquid, in the middle of the room.
"that the chemicals?" asked blacklight.
Eon nodded.
"duster." said blacklight.
"I'm on it." said duster.
Duster began placing explosives on the tank.
"we will want to leave ASAP." said duster.
Duster set a Time bomb onto the tank.
" we got three minutes." said duster.
The four ran as fast as they could out of the room.  
They reached a large steel door with an exit sign above it.
"there it is!" said eon
"times running out!" said duster.
Eon broke the door down with her hooves.
"go!" yelled eon.
They ran out the door, into the wasteland in the distance blacklight could see the SSCS6000
"it's about to blow!" yelled duster.
They ran away from the facility as a large explosion destroyed half of it.
"we made it." said goldenheart.
She turned to face eon.
"thank you." said goldenheart.
"we could use somepony like you." said duster.
" I would like to join you, but I must venture out on my own for now." said eon. "I wish to find out who I was before I became...... This."
Eon looked at her hooves
"I understand." said blacklight. "maybe I will see you in the wastes."
"before I go." said eon. "let me leave you with this parting gift."
Eon closed her eyes and touched her horn to blacklight's. Blacklight felt a magical surge entering his body, knowledge entering his mind.
Eon took a step back and opened her eyes.
"what happened?" asked blacklight.
"I gave you the knowledge of how to preform the spell I used to see through the floor." said eon. "may it help you in your travels."
Eon spread her wings.
"and thank you my friend, for freeing me."
Eon took off into the sky.
"we have to get moving." said blacklight. "we are running out of time."
Blacklight looked at his pip buck map.
"it's going to take us five hours to get there." said blacklight.
The three walked towards the SSCS6000.
They Had been driving for five hours. The camp was in their sights.
"okay so you said you had a plan." said duster. "what was it?"
"we need a distraction right?" said blacklight. "well I'm sure they won't notice us leave if they were distracted by a slave riot."
"wait." said goldenheart. "your not thinking....."
Blacklight smiled.
"yep, were letting all those slaves free."

Chapter 10- The great breakout.
Duster looked at backlight with a look of surprise.
"you want to free every slave?" asked duster.
"yes." replied black light.
"that's almost impossible!" added duster.
"Almost." replied black light.
Black light floated a stealth buck out of his saddle bag.
"this will get me in." said black light.
"what about an escape?" asked duster.
"that's where you come in." said backlight. "you stay behind with the ride and I'm going to signal to you when we are ready."
"with what?" asked duster.
"I'll think of something." replied backlight.
Golden heart looked at black light.
"what about me?" asked golden heart.
"you got anything that can knock out a guard?" asked black light.
"yes I have some syringes for that." replied golden heart.
"knock one out and steal its outfit, when the riot starts I'll try to meet up with you"
"got it." said golden heart.
The SSCS6000 stopped.
"mission is go." said duster.
Blacklight checked all his gun's to see if they were loaded.
"ready." said black light.
Him and golden heart got off.
" Let's move." said black light.
Golden heart nodded and they walked towards the camp.
The two ponies were close to the gate of the camp, they were hiding behind a large rock. Two guards stood at attention. At opposite sides of the gate.
"take them out." said blacklight.
Golden heart took out her syringe gun. Then fired two shots. Both hitting the guards. They fell unconscious onto the ground.
"good." said blacklight as he took out his stealth buck.
Blacklight activated the stealth buck and walked through the gates. Golden heart put her weapon away and began dragging the unconscious guards out of sight.
The camp was an elaborate facility. It was surrounded by a wall made of scrap metal. There was a couple pre war buildings that were still usable. A large fenced in area guarded by several slavers held numerous slaves.
Blacklight crept through the camp.
"I need the keys to the slave pen." thought blacklight.
He looked around and saw a slaver with a set of keys on him.
"must be it."
The slaver began to walk towards one of the pre war buildings. Blacklight followed him. The slaver walked into a small two floor building. The first floor had a desk, some chairs, and a radio playing triple trot's news.
"hey there colts and fillies its news time! First thing, parents keep an eye on your kids because ponies have been reported missing lately. Second thing, when outside scavenging, don't forget to bring a buddy, it could mean the difference. Between life and getting killed by raiders. Lastly, word about our buddy blacklight. He's reported to have gained another traveling partner. A resident from San de neighgo Has identified him as duster. Well that's all for right now. So here's some tunes."
The newscast ended and was replaced by a calm song.
The slaver sat down at the desk and turned the radio off.
"stupid triple trot." muttered the slaver.
The slaver laid his head down and fell asleep.
"nows my chance" thought blacklight.
He crept up to the sleeping pony and gently levitated the keys off of him.
"carefully black." he thought to himself.
He lifted the keys off his body and put them into his vest.
"on to phase two."
As blacklight turned to leave, the floor board creaked. The sound waking up the slaver. Blacklight froze up with fear.
"Whos there?" said the slaver as he looked around.
Luckily blacklight was still cloaked.
"buck." thought blacklight.
Without warning, his cloak began to fade.
"mother bucker." thought blacklight.
The slaver immediately took notice.
"what in the-"
Blacklight acted fast. He had no silenced weapons so he did what came naturally.
He rushed the slaver and tackled him, covering his mouth with a hoof. Then he floated his knife out of it's holster.
"sssssshhhhhhhhh." whispered blacklight.
He stabbed it into the slavery's neck, killing him.
"thank celestial that was quiet." whispered blacklight.
He had bigger problems. He was trapped in a building with no stealthy way of reaching the slaves.
"crap." whispered blacklight.
He looked around for anything he could use. And that's when he noticed a closet.
Blacklight trotted over to the closet and opened it. Inside was boxes upon boxes of books. Blacklight grabbed a box and looked through it. One book stood out.
"classic Canterlot melodies volume 2. Composed by Octavia."
The cover of the book was signed.
Blacklight stashed it into his saddle bag.
"maybe I could use this....." thought blacklight.
He dragged the slavery's body into the closet. Then he opened the desk. Inside was two bobby pins, a paperweight, an pack of cigirates, and a bottle of whiskey.
Blacklight put the pins into his bag and levitated the whiskey bottle out.
"perfect." thought blacklight with a smile.
He uncorked the bottle and poured its contents over the books and the body.
"here it goes." whispered blacklight.
His horn glowed red and he ignited the whiskey, starting a fire. Blacklight quickly dashed under the desk.
"FIRE!" yelled blacklight.
The door burst open and slavers ran in to deal with the fire. They were so preoccupied that they did not notice blacklight slip out.
Golden heart's luck must have been rubbing off on blacklight.
When he exited the building, there were no slavers outside.
"damn." muttered blacklight.
He ran towards the fence. Slaves began to approach blacklight. One unicorn with a grey coat, no mane, a pale black tail, and a hammer for a cutie mark pushed through the crowd of slaves.
"why are you here?" asked the slave. "it's not safe. Are you trying to end up like us?"
"actually I'm here for a little arrangement." replied blacklight.
blacklight took out the keys. The slaves stared at him like he just took out a diamond ring.
"how did you........." began the slave. "what will it take for us to get those?"
"two things." said blacklight. "I'm looking for a griffon, A talon. He goes by blade and wears a helmet."
"the griffon is being held over there." replied the slave.
The slave pointed at a building to the far right.
"thanks." said blacklight. "you have a name?"
"stone mallet." replied the slave. "I'm good with a hammer. Now what's the second thing."
Blacklight smirked and tossed mallet the keys.
"start a riot."
Mallet smiled back.
"your an interesting pony stranger." said mallet.
"call me blacklight."
Mallet turned to face his fellow slaves.
"every pony! Make a dash for the armory!" said mallet as he pointed towards a nearby building. "today we give those monsters what they deserve."
A unicorn slave lifted the keys and unlocked the fence.
"freedom!" yelled a slave.
The slaves began rushing out of the pen. Some running towards the armory, others ransacking the camp. The slavers heard the noise and rushed outside to try to control the situation.
"just as planned." said blacklight.
"black!"
Blacklight turned to see golden heart galloping towards him.
She was wearing a scrap metal helmet and light armor while still carrying her saddle bags.
"where's blade at?" asked golden heart.
Blacklight pointed at the far right building and levitated his pistol out.
"let's go."
The two rushed towards the building.
Blade was strapped down onto a chair in the middle of an empty room. Inside were four slavers. Three had battle saddles while the fourth, a unicorn was talking on a ham radio.
"last chance Lero." said the slaver. "pay up or your buddy here is a slave."
Blade could faintly hear Leroy's response.
"if you do anything to him, your going to have to deal with all of my talons."
The slaver smirked.
"then come bucking get him."
The slaver turned the radio off and trotted up to blade.
"well fly boy, looks like your staying." said the slaver.
"when I get out of here, I'm going to rip your celestia damned throat out." said blade Angerly.
The slaver whacked him across the side of his face.
"if they even try to rescue you...."
The slaver floated out a .367 revolver and pointed it at blade's head.
"your life will be questionable."
The two reached the building. All around them the slaves were rioting.
"how are we going to handle this?" asked golden heart.
Blacklight activated his magic vision and looked through the wall.
"I see him." said blacklight. "buck there's a gun pointed at his head!"
Blacklight reached into his saddlebag and took out 10 grenades.
"what are you thinking black?" asked golden heart.
Blacklight floated out a roll of duct tape he acquired.
"I'm making us a door."
Blacklight duct tapped grenades onto the wall in a rectangular pattern.
"this will be big." said blacklight.
Golden heart took out her syringe gun as blacklight wrapped the grenade pins in a magical glow.
"here we go."
The slaver walked around blade in a circular fashion, still pointing the gun at his head.
"you know why I'm making such a big deal out of this?" asked the slaver.
Blade spit in the unicorn's face.
"that's real nice" said the slaver. "boss loves anything with wings. Well loves watching them suffer."
The slaver wiped the saliva off of his face.
"I think it's because he's jealous."
Then a large explosion tore a hole in the wall, knocking down the slavers in the room and it clouded blade's vision.
Blacklight and golden heart dashed through the hole. Blacklight looked at the fallen slavers.
"this is for kidnapping blade." said blacklight.
Blacklight fired a shot into each of the slavery's heads, except for the unicorn.
"I'm hearing things......" said blade. "that sounded like......"
Blacklight trotted in front of blade.
"miss me bro?"
Blade's eyes widened.
"black?...... That you?" said blade in awe.
Blacklight put his pistol away and took out his knife.
"it's me blade." said blacklight.
Blacklight cut blade free.
"black...... I never thought I'd see you...... Or anyone for that matter." said blade.
Blade hugged blacklight.
"how did you even find me?" asked blade.
Blacklight ended the hug.
"I overheard a transmission on a radio." replied blacklight. "I stopped everything and came as fast as I could."
"so who's that?" asked blade, pointing to golden heart.
"that's golden heart." said blacklight. "she's my traveling companion."
"just your traveling companion?" said blade smugly.
This caused the ponies to blush furiously.
"I'm joking bro." said blade. "we need to reach the armory."
"we still need to signal duster too." said golden heart.
"maybe there's a flare gun in the armory." said blacklight.
"one last thing." said blade.
He grabbed the unicorn slaver in one claw and raised the other to his throat.
"told you I was going to rip your throat out."
Blade tore the slaver's throat out. Then he threw his body to the side and picked up his revolver.
"let's go." said blade.
They ran through the hole in the wall.
The riot erupted into a battle. The slaves had managed to get weapons from the armory and soon slaves began to fire upon the slavers.
The three took cover behind a building.
"armory is just up ahead." said blacklight. "but we can't get through with all that gunfire."
"if I fly above them I'm an easy target." said blade.
A slaver charged towards the group, baseball bat in his mouth.
"black!" said golden heart.
Blacklight fired three shots int the slaver, taking him down.
"Maybe we Should rush it." suggested golden heart.
"beats staying here." said blacklight. "we go on three."
Blacklight loaded a fresh magazine into his pistol.
"one..... Two.... Three! Go!"
They ran towards the armory, dodging gunfire as they went.
"so far so good!" said blacklight.
They reached the entrance to the armory.
"that was close." said blade. Blade opened the door and they walked into the armory.
The armory was a large room filled with shelves and trunks full of weapons. Mot likely confiscated from the slaves. Inside, two slavers laid dead on the floor while mallet browsed the contents of a trunk.
"hold on I'll grab my things." said blade.
Blade began to check the shelves as mallet turned towards blacklight.
"hey black." said mallet.
Mallet turned his attention to golden heart.
"whose this?"
"she's with me." said blacklight. "did you see any flare guns here?"
Mallet floated a flare gun out of a trunk and have it to blacklight.
"this work?"Asked mallet.
"yeah thanks." replied blacklight.
"one last thing." said mallet,
Mallet took out a folded up piece of paper and gave it to blacklight.
"it's blueprints to a weapon." began mallet. "some slaver dropped it awhile back. Least I can give you for setting us free."
"thanks." said blacklight.
He put the paper into his saddlebag and began checking shelves for ammo.
"what's next for you guys?" asked mallet.
"we have a friend waiting for us with an escape vehicle." replied golden heart.
"well I can handle getting the slaves out." said mallet. "know where I can find a place for us to go?"
"try the new guard." said blacklight. "they set up by bitterhoof."
"sounds like a plan." said mallet as he levitated a sledgehammer off of a shelf. "I hope I can see you guys again."
Mallet rushed out to join the fight.
Blacklight grabbed a box of shotgun shells, some 9mm ammo, and five rounds of ammo for the protector. Blade approached blacklight with a pack on his back, a holstered 10mm pistol, and a double barreled shotgun.
"ready to go." said blade.
The three ran out of the armory.
Blacklight floated out the flare gun.
"here we go." said blacklight.
He fired a shot into the air. The bright red flare flew into the sky.
"now we need to hold out a little longer." said golden heart.
"your not going anywhere!" yelled a voice.
A lone slaver different than the others approached them. He was a blue earth pony with a purple mane, magenta eyes, with a machete for a cutie mark wearing a black sleeveless duster with machetes strapped to his front hooves.
"so your the one responsible for this uprising." said the slaver.
"yes I am." said blacklight. "who are you?"
"I'm the pony who runs this joint." said the slaver. "I'm sharp edge and I'm not too happy right now."
Blacklight put his pistol away.
"I'll handle this." said blacklight.
Blacklight floated his knife out.
"no guns then." said edge.
Edge got into a fighting stance.
"I like this."
Edge charged blacklight.
Blacklight sidestepped and swung his knife at edge. The blade grazed his side. Edge grinded his teeth in pain. Edge swung around and lashed at blacklight with his machetes, blacklight stepped back and avoided the. Attack.
"stop moving around!" said edge.
Edge thrusted a machete into blacklight's hoof, pinning it to the ground.
"ack!" yelled blacklight.
Edge slashed at blacklight's face, cutting him across the cheek.
"not so tough now are we!" said edge.
Blacklight's eyes began to glow a bright green.
"what the-"
Edge felt himself being lifted off the ground, taking the machete with him.
"it's another magic spike." said golden heart.
Blacklight uppercutted edge in the ribs. Then he threw him against a wall. Blacklight rushed towards edge and stabbed his knife into edge's shoulder.
"not bad magic boy." said edge.
Blacklight grabbed edge's head with magic.
"shut up creep."
Blacklight snapped edge's neck with magic. His eyes returned to their normal color. Then a horn was heard. Blacklight holstered his knife.
"thats our ride!" said golden heart.
The sscs6000 rammed into the steel wall, knocking it down.
"get your asses over here!" said duster
Duster laid suppressing fire While the three ran to the vehicle.
"how did you get one of those?" asked blade.
"long story." answered blacklight.
They got into the vehicle.
"adios bitches!" yelled duster.
The vehicle backed out and drove away from the camp.
"So your black's brother." said duster.
They had been driving for two hours. Durring that time golden heart changed back into her stable barding and blade got acquainted with blacklight's group,
"I can't believe you came all this way to save me." said Blade.
"that's what brothers are for." said blacklight.
"so where to now?" asked duster.
"can you take me home?" asked blade.
"I'm not sure if I'm still allowed there." replied blacklight.
"Lero said you can't live there." said blade. "your just bringing me back and visiting for a bit."
"well we need to stock up on supplies." said golden heart.
"San de neighgo." said duster. "I can get us there within two days."
"I was planning on stoping there anyways." said blacklight.
Blacklight took out the music book he found.
"wanted to bring this to violet."
"where did you get that?" asked golden heart.
"found it in the camp." replied blacklight. "it was autographed so I didnt want to destroy it."
"whos violet" asked blade.
"sit down blade." began blacklight. "we have a crazy story to tell you."

Fallout equestria: key of ruin
Prologue
War.....war never changes but at the same time, war changes everything. War changed equestria that's for sure. War created the megaspells, war created the balefire bombs, war created the wasteland. War created the many ponies that attempted to change the wasteland. Ponies like little pip, blackjack, hired gun...... And blacklight... This is his tale. A story That started 21 years ago, in stable 37........
It was chaos, the entire stable errupted into panic, but one stallion was calm in the chaos. He was a grey unicorn stallion with a black mane and a police baton for a cutie mark. He wore a stable security uniform. His name was civil protection, and he was looking for his son. He ran down the hallways towards his designated quarters. Praying that his child was safe.
"dear celestia please tell me they haven't got my son...."
He opened the door to his room and to his relief, his infant son, a grey colt with a black mane and green eyes was asleep. His son's name was backlight.
"thank goodness" said civil protection.
Civil protection began packing all his essential belongings into two saddle bags His spare uniforms, baby toys, books, ammo for his gun, and finally his own son.
"it's not safe here anymore, I need to find a new home, for both of us" muttered civil protection.
He ran out of his room and towards the direction of the overmare's office.
Upon entering, Civil quickly found that nobody else was in the room.
"she's not here" said civil protection.
Civil looked at the control terminal that stood behind the overmare's chair.
"I know there's a way out here....."
Civil logged onto the terminal and typed in a code.
"1949, the override code"
Upon entering the code, the overmare's deck lifted up revealing a staircase.
"I knew it" said civil protection. "there's always a back door"
Civil ran down the stairs and came upon a large stable door.
"this is it...." said civil.
Civil pulled the lever that opened the door and the door slowly opened, revealing the wasteland outside. Civil walked out of the stable and into the wasteland as the stable door closed behind him. The loud noise of the door opening caused backlight to peak his head out if the saddlebag.
"well son," began civil protection. "this is our home now....."
Civil looked up into the cloud filled sky.

Civil protection walked through the scrapyard that had become his home. He settled into a shack there after leaving the stable. His son, now age seven walked next to him.
"keep an eye out for anything to salvage" said civil.
"you can count on me dad!" replied blacklight cheerfully.
Back scanned the piles of rusted scrap. But something caught his eye.
" what's that dad?" asked blacklight pointing to something sticking out of a pile of scrap.
"let's find out" replied civil as he walked over to the pile.
Civil picked up scrap with his magic and tossed it to the side untill he uncovered what was within. It was a zebra corpse. A fresh one at that. By civil's guess it couldnt have died more that two days ago. It's bags were full and it had something around his neck.
"what is it?" asked backlight.
Civil looked at his son and smiled.
"our lucky break"
Civil took the saddlebags off or the corpse and put them on himself. Then he took a look at what was on his neck. It was a black piece of metal that resembled a key tied to a piece of string. Civil decided to take it as well.
"come on son" said civil.
The two headed back to the shack.
Backlight was awakened in the middle of the night by his father.
"black wake up!"
"what is it dad?" backlight rubbed his eyes.
Civil looked his son in the face.
"you need to listen carefully" instructed civil.
Civil too the key like object that he acquired from the zebra and put it around black's neck.
"you need to take this and run, run as far away as you can from here, take the back door. Go!"
Black ran out through a dog door like exit in the back of the shack but he paused after hearing a loud noise and peaked his head through his exit. Inside 3 zebras were confronting civil while another two were restraining him. They all wore metal armor that covered their front, their front legs, back legs, and they wore metallic masks. They had glowing devices on their backs. One was different however, he wore a green jacket and had a combat knife holstered on his hind leg. One of his eyes had a scar over it.
"sir I will not ask again" said the scarred zebra. "where is the key"
Civil looked directly at him
"the key Is far away from here, your never going to get it!"
The zebra growled and took out his knife.
"you really want to die? Don't you!" yelled the zebra.
"go to hell" said civil
The zebra smiled.
"after you"
The zebra slit civil's throat, killing him.
"clean thus mess up" yelled the zebra. "I want that key!"
Black shocked by what he had just witnessed did just as his father told him, He ran, tears flowing down his cheeks.  
Blacklight ran all night long. He began to grow weak however. He was tired and had to sleep.
"so..... Tired....."
Backlight found the wreckage of a carriage.
"thank goodness."
Black hopped inside the carriage, curled up into a ball and fell asleep.  
"check that carriage for supplies!"
Those where the first words backlight heard when he awoke. Moments after the door to the carriage was torn off and a menacing creature that was part eagle and part lion wearing black combat armor stood in the doorway.
"what the heck?" said the creature, noticing backlight. "check this out!"
Two more similar creatures walked up next to him.
"what's a foal doing here?" asked one of them.
Black was scarred stiff, he couldn't move his legs and he was shaking.
"move it, your scaring him"
The three were pushed to the side by a fourth one, slightly larger than the others and wearing green recon armor
"done be afraid" said the larger creature.
He extended his claw to blacklight. Blacklight Built up the courage to respond.
"what are you?" asked blacklight.
The creature stood there.
"we are griffins." answered the creature now identified as a griffin." my name is Alvere. Where are your parents?"
Black lowered his ears recalling the events of the previous night.
"they arnt round are they?" asked Alvere.
Black shook his head.
"poor kid......."
"alvere!" called one of the other griffins. "we need to get back! Lero is waiting for us!"
Alvere looked at blacklight.
"come on kid." said Alvere. "it's not safe here."
Blacklight hopped out of the carriage. One of the griffins looked at Alvere.
"you seriously arnt bringing him back, are you?"
Alvere smiled.
"I am."  
The griffins had brought Alvere back with them to their camp. Alvere stood in front of a black griffin his size wearing grey combat armor.
"you brought an orphan here?" said the griffin.
"sir, I'm not going to leave him to fend for himself in the wastes" said Alvere. "lero, Im not saying that were going to make him a talon."
The griffin now identified as lero gave Alvere a stern look.
"I'll make you a deal since we are friends." replied lero. "if you want to keep him around, then he is your responsibility. But once he can fend for himself, he's out of here."
Alvere gave his leader and friend a salute.
"thanks lero".  
Blacklight sat as he watched two griffins spar.
"wow" said blacklight. "they are good"
"hey kid"
Alvere walked up to blacklight.
"I talked it over with lero," said Alvere. " you can stay here Iif you want. Live with me and my son"
Blacklight's eyes lit up with joy.
"would I!?" beamed blacklight.
Alvere smiled.
"let's show you your new home"
Alvere led black to a large metal storage crate that had been converted into a makeshift home.
"here we are, black was it?"
Blacklight noded.
"this is where you will be staying" said Alvere. "blade! There's someone I want you to meet!"
A small griffin black's age rushed out of the crate. He wore a security helmet that was way too big for him.
"yeah dad?" asked the young griffin.
"blade this is blacklight, he will be living with us. Black, this is my son blade" said Alvere.
Blade slowly walked up to blacklight.
"hiya!" greeted blade.
"hi" replied black.
"I'll let you two get acquainted" said Alvere as he flew off.
Blade offered a claw to black, black stared at it for a few seconds m them shook it with his hoof.
"this is going to be great!" yelled blade. "were going to be like brothers!"
Black smiled.
"brothers"
<----three years layer---->
Blacklight had become accustomed to living with the talons. Most of them enjoyed blacklight's presence but his curiosity got on their nerves every now and then. Blade even Began calling blacklight his brother.
Blade ran out of his shipping crate home with blacklight following.
"can't catch me!" yelled blade.
"yes I can!" replied blacklight.
But the griffin was more athletic than he was and he tired out.
"darn it!" cried black.
"ha ha!" boasted blade. "told ya bro! Only way ya can catch me is if you could teleport!"
That gave blacklight an idea.
"teleport......"
Black concentrated hard on a location in front of blade's path.
"I want to go there....." Whispered blacklight.
Black's horn began to give off a green glow and he vanished in a flash of light.then reappearing in front of the running griffin.
"woah!" yelled blade.
While he was startled, blacklight tackled the griffin just as he was running towards him.
"how did you do that!?" asked blade.
Blacklight looked at his horn.
"magic." replied black with a smile.
Black got off of blade and helped him up.
"guess ya got me this time" said blade, adjusting his still oversized helmet.
"you playing fair?"
The two noticed that Alvere was watching them.
"dad!" yelled blade. "your home!"
Alvere gave his son a quick hug then looked at blacklight.
"I brought you two back something" said Alvere.
"you did!?" said blacklight enthusiastically.
"yes" replied Alvere
Alvere took a pocket knife out of his bag and handed it to blade.
"don't cut yourself" said Alvere.
Blade looked at his knife with awe.
"cool....."
"here's your gift black" said Alvere pulling something from his bag.
It was a grey device with a screen and some dials. A pip-buck
"wow! My own pip buck!" said blacklight, hopping with joy.
Blacklight sliped his left hoof into the device.
"it's damaged a little bit" said Alvere. "you can't use the S.A.T.S, but most of the other features should work."
Blacklight flipped through the different sections of the pip buck.
"this is great!" cheered blacklight. "thanks!"
Alvere smiled.
"glad to see ya like them." said Alvere "I'm gunna be at the range with scrapper if you need me."
Alvere walked away leaving the two children to their gifts.
"hey black" started blade.
"yeah bro?" replied blacklight.
"when did that get there?" said blade pointing to his flank.
Black looked at his flank and froze. A minute ago it was blank, but now his flank displayed an image of a black crescent moon with a star next to it. He had gotten his cutie mark.
"my cutie mark!" squealed blacklight.
The grey unicorn began bouncing up and down yelling "yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes!" while blade watched confused.
"this is the best day ever!" yelled blacklight.
Blade stared at him for a moment before responding.
"what the hay is a cutie mark?"
<----six years later---->
Blacklight had grown into a healthy unicorn. His mane was longer than it was six years ago. He still wore the key around his neck and he had never once parted with it. His magic improved greatly, he was more skilled with magic than most unicorns his age were. Blade had grown as well, he now wore a set if blue-black combat armor and his helmet fit him better that it used to and he had learned to fly.
Blacklight lifted up a rock with his magic and threw it at a target painted on an even bigger rock. The rock shattered upon hitting the center of the target.
"bullseye!" yelled blacklight.
Blade swooped in and landed next to blacklight.
"hey bro, you excited?" asked blade.
"godesses yes!" replied blacklight.
They were both 16, the age where they would begin firearm training.
"well let's go bro!" said blade.
The two ran through the camp, both very excited.  
The two arrived at the firing range to find a griffin wearing metal armor waiting for them. His name was scrapper.
"you ready to start shooting?" asked scrapper.
The two replied in unison.
"YES!"
They both smiled.
"enthusiasm, I like that" said scrapper.
Scrapper lead the two to an open area with targets set up.
"alright, choose your weapon"Instructed scrapper, pointing at a nearby table.
The table had two pistols on it. A black 10mm pistol , and a grey 9mm pistol.
"dibs!" yelled blade picking up the 10mm pistol in his claw.
Black lifted up the 9mm pistol with his magic.
"fire when ready!" yelled scrapper.
The two began blind firing, missing almost every shot.
"no no no!" yelled scrapper. "you need to aim down your sights, then you might actually hit something!"
Blade took his advice and looked down the sight, aiming at a pot with a bullseye painted on it. He pulled the trigger and the bullet hit dead on, shattering the pot.
"nice work" said scrapper.
Blacklight looked down the sights of his pistol and aimed it At a dart board hung on the side of a nearly destroyed brick wall. He pulled the trigger and his bullet hit the dart board.
"beautiful" said scrapper "just beautiful".  
Blacklight and blade walked towards their abode. Guns in holsters.
"now that was fun." said blade.
"and we get to do it again tomorrow." replied blacklight.
The two smiled, they would always remember is day.
<----four years later---->
Blacklight had matured into a powerful unicorn. He was very skilled with his magic. He was still curious, but he exercised restraint. He now wore a black vest and a black band on his front right leg. They key remained around his neck as it had been for most of his life. Blade still looked the same. Except that his helmet actually fit now.
Black and blade stood in the sparing ring. They were about to spar. A grey griffin in leather armor watched over them.
"go!" yelled the grey griffin appropriately named grey.
Blade rushed towards blacklight and swiped at him with his claws, however blacklight dodged the attack and stepped backwards. Blade responded by lunging at him. However blacklight jumped over blade as he was nearing him, but blade saw it coming. He kicked knocked blacklight down with his hind legs and turned around quickly holding his talons inches away from blacklight's face.
"give up?" snickered blade.
Blacklight smiled.
"you win again bro." he replied.
Blade extended his arm to help blacklight up, but then black made his move. He grabbed blade using magic and slammed him onto the ground.
"hey no fair!" said blade.
Blacklight got up and stood over blade.
"you forgot the number one rule lero taught us" said blacklight, releasing his hold on blade.
"never let your guard down"
Blade got up and dusted himself off.
"it's hardly fair, you can use magic." said blade.
"fighting isn't fair" explained grey, as he approached the two.
"you always need to have your guard up, your enemy wont surrender easily"
"guess your right" said blade.
Alvere sat next to lero in his private tent.
"your son has much promise Alvere" started Lero.
"thank you" replied Alvere.
"he will make a fine talon, just like you" added Lero. "but that isn't why I called you here"
"it's about blacklight isn't it?" said Alvere.
Lero nodded.
"he's almost 21, he has shown much skill in his magic." stated Lero. "he is almost able to fend for himself...."
Alvere looked down at the ground before replying.
"I knew this day would come....... Its just...... I wish he could stay, be a talon like me, like his brother will be."
"you know unicorns can't be talons Alvere" Lero Stated. "and blade isn't his brother...."
"lero, I know I just-"
Lero interrupted him.
"Alvere, we knew each other most of our lives. I was there when you met your wife."
Lero put his claw on alvere's shoulder.
" you did right with him. But he has to leave, he needs to choose his own path."
Alvere looked at lero.
"how long till he's ready?" asked Alvere.
Lero took his claw off of his shoulder and gave him an answer.
"about a year".
<----one year later---->
Blacklight woke up in his bed. Today was the day. He knew it was going to happen sooner or later, today was the day he would leave. Blacklight got out of bed and slipped his vest on. Then he walked out of the crate. It was morning.
"hey bro" he heard a voice.
Blacklight saw blade walk up next to him.
"today is the big day, isnt it?" asked blade.
"yep." answered blacklight.
Blade put his claw on his shoulder.
"I'm getting my first job soon" said blade. "maybe I'll see you out there."
Blacklight smiled.
"I hope so" replied blacklight.
"come on, let's eat" said blade.
The two towards the direction of the mess hall.
After eating his breakfast, his final meal in camp, everyone was called to the front gate.
"today is a sad, yet joyful day" announced lero. "today, blacklight leaves to blaze his own path, to make his own mark, to choose his own destiny!"
Scrapper approached blacklight holding a saddlebag.
"this is a goodbye present from means some of the others here" said scrapper. "stitch from the medical tent put some medical supplies in there, butch the chef put some canned goods and some water in there, and I put in something more personal"
Blacklight picked up the saddle bag with magic, opened it and took out a gun. It was a 9mm pistol, the same kind of gun he used for gun training. There was some extra ammo and magazines for the gun in the bag as well.
"this is very thoughtful scrapper" said blacklight, putting the saddlebag on his back and putting the pistol back in it's pouch. "thank you"
"least we could do for ya boy" replied scrapper as he walked back into the crowd of griffins. The next one to approach him was lero.
"blacklight," said lero "you would have made a damn good talon. On behalf of myself, I give you a parting gift.
Lero took out a knife holster with a combat knife it it and put the holster on his left hind leg.
"you may not have claws or wings like us" began lero, "but that doesn't mean you can't have a good blade."
Lero gave a salute which blacklight returned. Blacklight then saw blade approach him.
"bro" blade started. "no matter what happens, we are always going to be brothers." black saw some tears forming in his adoptive brother's eyes.
"always" replied blacklight.
Blacklight gave him a quick hug. Then turned to see Alvere approaching him.
"blackli-" Alvere stopped himself but then began his sentence again.
"son..... When I first saw you, you were scared and alone....." black could tell this was hard for him. "but now, my godess, your better with magic than any unicorn I ever met, you grew up safe, if your real father could see you now, I'm sure he would be proud of you"
Blacklight saw tears starting to pour from Alvere's eyes.
"I may not have been your biological father.... But you were like a second son to me..... Don't forget me..... I have one final gift for you..."
Alvere took out a book with an image of a pony's head on it and sliped it into blacklight's saddle bag.
"my father used to read me this book when I was a child" said Alvere. "I read it to blade when he was three.....I want you to have it."
Black could feel tears forming in his eyes.
"you shouldn't have......" said blacklight. "I'll treasure it always.... And Alvere"
Alvere looked at blacklight with tears in his eyes and he could see that blacklight was crying now too.
"thank you for being my dad"
Blacklight gave Alvere a hug, tears streaming down his cheeks. Then ended the hug and approached the main gate to the camp.
"open the gates!" commanded lero.
The gates opened revealing the wasteland outside. Blacklight looked one last time at the griffins that saved him, raised him like one of their own, taught him to survive. Blacklight smiled one last time.
"goodbye everyone" said blacklight.
Blacklight walked through the gates that separated him from the wasteland outside. He could hear the gate close behind him. He knew he was ready. Blacklight couldn't stay any longer, he had to blaze his own path, make his own mark, choose his own destiny. And he knew what he was going to do.
He looked at the key that had been with him all those years. Blacklight remembered the sight of his real father being murdered by those zebras, how his father died to give him a future, the one with the scar that in a second, took everything from him. Blacklight was going to find that zebra, and avenge his father.
"I'm going to find you" blacklight told himself. "and I will kill you."
Blacklight trekked into the wide wastes with a goal in mind.
But blacklight did not know that his mission would change the western wastes as everypony knew it........
