The Other Colt

It was the first day of June, and the mother of a very beautiful colt was in a hospital bed. As she held her baby, she pondered what dreams this little pony would receive. After two years passed, she gave birth to another, except this one was different from his brother. Mother wasn’t pleased with this one. In fact, she didn’t even want him, so she treated him different from her first-born. Throughout the years, she made him a slave, giving him chores while his brother got to play outside and have fun. The little innocent colt asked, “Mommy, can I play outside, too?” The mom asked, “Are the chores done?”
“Yes, they are done.”
The mother looked around and spotted a vase and tipped it over with a hoof. It shattered when it hit the ground. “Not all the chores are done. When I get back, I don’t want to see one piece of that goddamn vase on that floor, you understand me?”
“Yes, mother,” the colt replied as he knelt down and started picking up the sharp pieces of the vase. As he worked, he wondered if the vase resembled his life: a broken life, like something isn’t right. Like a barren wasteland with nopony in it, like he existed alone, and would just sit there and wonder if somepony was out there, waiting and waiting, day by day.
One day, he felt something happen inside of him. When his father told him to clean the dishes, the boy did something unexpected: he said, “No.” The father appeared to snap. He grabbed the colt, bent him over his knee, and spanked him across the flank. When the father finally let the colt up, he felt that strange feeling in him stretch and snapped itself.
The colt whirled around and grabbed a knife from the counter behind him and, using every ounce of strength inside of him, drove it into his father’s chest. As his father fell to the ground, the colt bent down and continued to stab him until his father stopped moving. The colt looked down at the bloody corpse and wondered when his mother and his brother, the curse, would be back.
When his mother got back later that night, she screamed upon seeing the remains of her husband. The colt stepped out of the shadows, holding a knife in a blood soaked hoof. In the dim light of the house, his mouth was twisted in a demonic grin.
“Hello Mother. Have a good day? I know that I had a blast today.”
The mother stammered, “Uh…why…did…”
The colt’s grin slumped into a frown of pure loathing. “Oh, like you don't understand? Why don’t you get the fact that you all have been treating me like shit for the last several years? Well, it doesn’t matter now. I’ve had enough of you walking all over me. All I wanted was some goddamn respect and happiness, but if that’s too much to ask, well then, I’ll get my happiness another way.” He started walking toward the mare, who backed away. “Remember my 9th birthday? Only you, my brother, and father celebrated a day that was supposed to be for me. But I was the one who cleaned up the mess afterwards.”
The mother said, “Look, I’m sorry for what we did to you. I’m sure we can come up with something to make up for it.” She backed up against the wall and the colt continued his advance, knife glinting in the light.
“Oh, I don’t want your apology,” he whispered, malice in his eyes. “I just want you to suffer like I did.” He leapt forward and jammed the knife blade into her stomach and pulled the blade down, causing her guts to start falling out. She screamed and fell to the ground and begged him to stop while crawling away from him. He followed her while saying, “My brother, that curse, gets presents for Hearth’s Warming Eve, cake on his birthday, a kiss on the cheek from Pinkie Pie, a Good Night from Princess Luna, and what did I get, dear Mother? NOTHING!! THAT’S RIGHT, FUCKING NOTHING!!” And with that, he pulled the knife out of her and continued to stab her until she quit breathing. The boy pulled the knife out and retreated once again to the shadows, to wait for his dear brother to get back.
The brother turned the doorknob and trotted in, hardly able to contain his excitement. He was a teenager and a dashing fellow, but grew up into a pompous shit who thinks he's as awesome as Rainbow Dash, and he was also a member of the elite flying team known as The Wonderbolts. His mother was so proud of him, she gave him a new title, calling him, “The Perfect Son.” He was calling for his parents to tell them about his day, but there was no answer. He went into the other room, then he stopped dead in his tracks as he saw his father lying by the table and his mother against the wall with her stomach sliced open. Both were in a pool of their own blood. He turns away as his bile rose. He released his stomach contents across the floor before running to his mother. “Mom? Mom, wake up!” he screamed as he shook her. The colt came out from the shadows. “Hello, Brother, it's so nice of you to join us on this lovely evening at long last.”
“Wha-What did you do!?!” his brother shouted, tears streaming down his face.
“I did what was best. I removed an unnecessary problem,” the boy replied, pulling a large knife from behind his back. “And you’re the only problem left.”
The brother flew to a phone and dialed the police. He was able to tell them the address before the knife entered one of his lungs. He let out a gasping breath and fell to the feet of his younger brother.
“How ironic, you’re the weak one now,” the colt sneered as he raised the red glistening blade.
The colt walked upstairs, leaving bloody hoofprints behind him. He left the knife in his brother. No need for it anymore. He walked to his parent’s bedroom and entered. He looked under the bed and found his father’s pistol. He pulled the barrel back to check the chamber. There was a bullet there. He let the barrel slid forward. He sat down against the bed and said, “Goodbye world. You were my only friend. I’ll miss you.” He closed his eyes, put the gun against his head, and pulled the trigger. He fell to the ground as brain matter slid down the bloodied wall.
Minutes later, the cops arrived. When there was no response to their knocking, they bashed the door in and fanned out, alert and pistols out. They found the bodies of the three family members. The leader motioned one of the cops up the stairs and he walked down the hall to a closed door at the end. He slowly turned the knob and burst in, pistol up and hoof on the trigger. He noticed the colt on the ground, gun next to him, with a small grin on his face.
All he wanted was something nice to look forward to, but the colt that lives in misery dies in misery. This is known as the other colt who never found happiness.
