NEW BEGINNINGS AND OLD FOES
Applejack shot awake, her eyes darting around, her heart beating like a drum. As she looks around her she finds herself sitting upright, concealed in a thick green cocoon with only a small window made from what seems to be an emerald like material. Her body is being held in the cocoon tightly by a thick green slime. She breaths quickly, but with every breath, the slime enters her mouth and down her throat. “Hello is there anypony out there?” she yells, but there is no answer, not even a sound. All that can be heard is the sound of her heart and her breath.
Hours pass but to the orange mare it seemed like days. She closes her eyes and falls asleep, hoping that when she reawakens, she will be home. “Applejack~” a pony says in a soft voice “wake up~” said the pony as she taps the emerald window. Slowly Applejack opens her light green eyes, she looks up at the pony looking in, and Applejack freezes in horror at who she sees. Standing in front of the cocoon with Applejack inside is Queen Chrysalis, Queen of the Changelings. “What do you want with me?” Applejack yells “I want you to be like us. I want you to be my child, a pony who can carry on my legacy when I pass, so I’m making you into a changeling so breathe.” the queen says in a seductive way. The slime that is holding applejack in and breathing in is filled with changeling venom, slowly converting the helpless farm pony into a changeling. Applejack squirms as she fells the toxic liquid being pumped around her body and through her heart. “LET ME GO YA’ VERMIN!!” Applejack yells trying to break free. Chrysalis giggles and interrupts the startled pony “Hush now my dear.” The queen trots around the green cocoon, sliding her tail over the window. Chrysalis’s horn glows as she casts a spell on the farm pony forcing her to relax.
Applejack shakes vigorously for a few minutes as the venom begins changing her, she eventually clams down and sighs; she closes her bright green eyes. “What type of changeling will I become?” Applejack asks in a soft almost happy voice. The queen giggles once again. “You will be a royal. You will have a crown permanently fixed to your head. You will have the same wings and horn as I do” Chrysalis replies.
Applejack shivers as she feels more venom being pumped around her weakened body. “How long have I been in here?” Applejack asks the queen, “3 weeks” Chrysalis replies in a happy tone of voice “but now you must go to sleep, it will help the venom move more freely.”
Applejack smiles and yawns “Goodnight, mother…I love you” AJ whispers. Queen chrysalis smiles and lays herself around the cocoon to keep it warm; she hums warmly to help Applejack sleep.
As AJ sleeps she has dreams of her family, her farm and her friends. She also dreams of what she is to become, and she likes it. Applejack mumbles in her sleep as she dreams about her old family back in ponyville. In her dream she has visons of them being killed, and she is confused of what she sees, because she is the one killing them in her vison it. AJ giggles in her sleep after seeing this. She moves into more of a laying down position to let the venom flow easier, the moon rise as the night comes, and Queen Chrysalis is still at the side of Applejack’s cocoon, slowly falling asleep.
Six months pass, and Applejack still has not yet been released from her slimy cocoon, but several noticeable changes have occurred. Her mane and tail have a green stripe down the middle of them; her body has faded to charcoal black; holes have grown on her legs; her green eyes have lost their pupils and become solid green; a horn sprouted from her forehead; two insect like wings with holes in them have grown from her back and two white striped socks have formed around her legs. She is losing her old self and becoming a changeling.
The sun rises as the moon lowers to bring the new day, the sun’s rays tear through the dark night sky like a knife in butter, the rays of sunlight hit twilight sparkles face; she wakes and walks to the mirror. Surrounding the mirror are photos and “a have you seen this pony?” poster of her best friend, Applejack. Twilight sighs and walks downstairs into the library. On the floor are boxes of the same posters that were on Twilight’s mirror. She casts a levitation spell on two boxes and walks them out, giving one to everypony that walks by, and she asks everypony that receives a poster for any information about AJ. But everyday it’s the same thing, everypony says they don’t know any useful information.
The ponyville clock tower strikes 12 midday, after doing the same routine of giving out posters, twilight decides to call it quits, she gives out her last poster, packs up the boxes and begins to walk down the main street. She walks past posters she has put up already, and everyone brings back more and more memories of her friend, Applejack, “Applejack, where are you?” twilight says as she looks up into the clear blue sky, little did she know that AJ was alive and well, but not in the same form that twilight will remember her in.
The sounds of hoofsteps fill the hallway, as Queen Chrysalis trots to where the cocooned Applejack is kept; Chrysalis is wearing a dressing gown with her kingdoms insignia embroidered onto the back.
Beside her is a changeling nurse with a short blue mane and a pure white coat, named Dragonfly, carrying a tray with a syringe and two jars of liquids, one is dark green enhanced venom and it is to help with the transformation and the other is a small amount Chrysalis’s blood, to give applejack a blood relation to the queen.
“Oh my, I can’t wait to see your daughter. Is she beautiful?” asks Dragonfly curiously, Queen Chrysalis smiles, “She is more beautiful than even I, I’m so happy she gave in so quickly” The door opens with a loud creek as Nurse Dragonfly and Queen Chrysalis both enter Applejacks chambers, she is still in the corner, concealed in the cocoon. “Applejack, my dear…wake up, I have a gift for you” Chrysalis says in a motherly tone. Applejack wakes and smiles at her mother to be “good morning Mother, what is it?” AJ replies in a sleepy way Dragonfly mixes the blood and the venom, the nurse the fills the syringe with the new liquid “Medicine, to help you become pure” Chrysalis answers in a regal voice. “Now bring your body as close to me as possible and stay still, my princess, this will only hurt if you resist” Nurse Dragonfly says nervously. AJ brings only her fore hoof forward. The nurse pierces the cocoon as well as applejacks hoof, the venom and blood flow through the farm pony’s body, applejack shivers at the sensation. Chrysalis giggles as she hugs the cocoon lovingly “Nurse, what would be a good traditional changeling name for my beautiful daughter?” Chrysalis asks Dragonfly. “I think Thoraxia would be suitable” Chrysalis nods with a smile “Then it’s settled, my daughter and the new princess of the changeling royal family shall be named, Thoraxia” Queen Chrysalis says in a happy way “thank you for the name mother, I appreciate it, and I shall wear it with pride!” the new princess says in a regal voice as she closes her eyes and falls asleep.
