Chapter 1: A runaway train
On the island of Sodor there are trees, grass, roads and town, docks and quarries, with lots and lots of railway. With engines and trams all over the island, all bright and as happy as the people. But are story focus not on the island but it`s most famous resident.
A small blue blur screech past the red signal light, Thomas stood wide eyed as his breaks swilled, and his wheels wobbled, his driver and stocker had jumped out about a half mile back when the realized Thomas breaks had stopped working, at the top of Gordon`s hill. So now that lift Thomas, trying everything he could to slow down, the small six wheel tank engine rocket past Spencer, the silver speeders eyes swirled in there sockets "Fizzling fireboxes!"
Thomas looked at the points ahead, they headed into the woods, hopeful that something might slow him down there he started to relax, but the woods seem to be different as he when through them he gained speed, the trees and bushes where blurred as he speeded but, the birds song interrupted by the 'clicker d clack' of his wheels, Thomas, panicked slightly "Sinder and ashes. Ill never go fast again!" he whizzed as a pair of old rusted and rooted buffers came into view. Thomas looked at them in panic, theyd never stop him.
He was right, they didn`t stop him, down and down he fell towards a pool of water, Thomas closed his eyes waiting for the impact. It never happen. Opening his eyes slowly, he looked around. He was sitting on a old wooden bridge?
He looked around, it checked to see if his breaks where broken, only to find them fixed? his coal and water topped up, strange? He chuffed forwards slowly, calling out "Hello?" he let out a whistle steam rising above the trees, and so was he, the old rickety bridge finally gave way to a stable rail line, joining a two tracks running parallel to each other, he cuffed along, boiler full of thoughts about where he was and how he was going to get back.
Finally coming to a signal box he stopped, as voices ran out, in the box "Close all lines weve had a runaway train" the roar of a distant train was heard from behind Thomas, on the far line it rocket past, childrens screams of fear and panic was heard. Thomas didn`t need much time to react. He gave chase.
"Your majesty a runaway train his heading straight for Canterlot station" informed a guard, "Clear the station, the train will be stopped by the buffers" ordered the Princess, "Princess, it going to fast, it will break them"
"Well get a train to stop it then" Celestia ordered, she didn`t panic but a train going through the station wall and into the main street in Canterlot was not something she wanted.
Thomas wheels wobbled as he switched to the central line, he had to get in front of the coaches, pistons pumping and axles wobbling, he raced after the train. Inside the trains the Cutie mark crusaders looked at the Ex-elements of harmony, they all had a look of worry. Rainbow was trying to slow the train down, it did nothing, they were going to fast and the train was to big to slow down, then the chuffing of a engine was heard.
Looking out the back wind a small blue tank engine was powering towards them, it cuplinks a silver blur, it cuffed along besides the runaway coaches, all of the foals cheered, but as the engine it lack of a drive surprised them, they all when back to panic, the coaches and a train both runaways at the same time, what bad luck for them.
Thomas puffed harder, he sore the points up ahead, he had to get their first, "Must puff harder!" he whizzed, the fire in his firebox roaring and his boiler bubbling he chuffed on, he managed to get to the points first, he breaks squealed, he buffers bounds off the runaway coaches, then he sore it, the city in front of him and the station only a few miles away from him, he sweezed his breaks harder, the sparks flew of the rails, and steam whished from Thomas.
Celestia looked through a tell scope at the runaway train, all the trains that could have court the runaway were too far so Celestia had order the evacuation of the main street of Canterlot. So the small blue tank engine that over taken the runaway train was very peculiar, it wasn`t a Equestrian Western Rail train, it looked like a small 6 wheels tank engine but it had a face. Celestia through it was painted on when it expression changed and eyes moved.
Thomas breaks finally started to work, as the train pulled up into the large city, it perfect white building, with it smooth rails clik under his wheels, he whispered in awe "Cinders and ashes" he hadnt noticed hed been coupled up to the runaway train, the smooth rails came to a stop as a large station covered the train. It would have made Tidmoth look small, large polished white marble columns, with steel signs, all with the name 'Canterlot Station' all the large trains lacked faces, all with black fronts or the main body paint colour. All of them having a harsh unwelcoming feel to him.
Pulling up to the buffers, the doors opened and the passengers flooded out of the coaches, all the coaches where full of horse, small rainbow coloured horses? Wait a minute a small horse, aren`t they called ponies?, His firebox fizzled with confusion, as all of them talked and moved away from the train, with armoured ones, climbing into his cab, and rummaging with his instruments "Sinders and ashes, my insides" he stated in alarm, they were fiddling with his firebox.
Applebloom looked at the train "Did that train just speak?" she asked, getting the attention of all the others, Applejack looked at her younger sister "Applebloom, trains don`t talk!" A loud whistle came from the train "Sinders and ashes!" All of them turned around, to see all the guards jumping out of the train with a cloud of steam following them out.
All of the guards evacuated the rest of the station, leaving the party of 10 in the station, all of them walked slowly around to the front of the engine, the larger mares shielding the fillies from 'engine' it was blue, a light friendly blue, with some red strips, with a yellow number '1' on both it water tanks, with a sturdy boiler, a sturdy black funnel, with white buffers with red shock absorbers the small black pads, the funnel was black, which made a ring around the grey front of the engine. All of them came around and sore the face of the engine.
It large grey eyes looked at them, large rounded nose, with a mouth underneath, it eyebrows in a stat of confusion.
"What in the hay?"
"Buffering boilers!"
