“C'mon Rainbow Dash, give me a break, its just too hard!”
“Scootaloo, flying's hard for everypony at first, you just gotta put your back into it.”
Everypony was at the park enjoying the sun and each others presence, Rainbow Dash hopelessly trying to teach scootaloo to fly, Applejack teaching Applebloom the proper way to use a lasso, Rarity trying to find something fun to do with Sweetyie Belle even if it means getting a little dirty, Twilight was with Spike playing frisbee, Spike was better thanks to his fingers, and Pinkie Pie setting up the picnic.
All of the ponies had something to do except one. Fluttershy was still at home caring and tending to her animals. She didn't mind missing a day of fun with her friends, she was okay with it because she knew her animals needed her more. But she couldn't help but feel lonely without a little companion by her side.
After the day had finished all of the ponies went their separate ways, Scootaloo was staying with Rainbow Dash for the summer, her parents weren't the best but they meant well. And Scootaloo would become a much better flyer hanging out with Rainbow Dash 24/7.
The little fillies were preparing for their first day back at school tomorrow and Twilight decided Spike needed some education so she set up a homeschooling schedule. Spike would be taught at the same time as Sweetie Belle, Applebloom, and Scootaloo. And at the end of the they would all get together for a play date.
Twilight and her friends agreed it was a splendid idea and were glad that they could share in the fun.
The next day the three fillies walked together to school. They were greeted by an eager Cheerilie excited to get back to teaching her students. As she welcomed back the foals and fillies she couldn't help but notice that one hadn't shown up to school.
“Does anypony know where Feather Weight is?” The class just shrugged and assumed he was sick.
After school that day, as promised, all of them got together with their sisters and Spike for their afternoon of fun. All except for Scootaloo who by now was sick of flight practice but wouldn't give up.
The day had come to another end and everypony went back to their domains, pleased with the results of their play date, they were happy to do this again every day of the year, it was a great treat and everypony seemed to enjoy it.
The next day the local newspaper had something in it that nopony could ever imagine... A murder...
“A young pony by the name of Feather Weight was found dead in the Everfree Forest by the Royal Guards hired to find the poor missing foal. His neck was bent 90 decrease and on his flank was a Butterfly Painted in blood.”
Everypony was startled and wanted answers, investigators were called out from all over to try and find the culpret.
School was canceled that day and Cheerily was sworn into questioning. They let her go once they heard all she could tell them.
Twilight and the others didn't quite know how to take the situation and instead met at the Library.
“Girls we have some bad news.” The three fillies were shocked and immediately started bawling at the news of their good friend's demise.
“We just want you all to know that your safe with us and that nopony is going to hurt you okay.”
The three fillies gave a nod and let the ponies know they trust them.
Days went by and everything started to cool down. School started back up again and at the notice of any students missing, Cheerilie would need to report it immediately.
Cheerilie spent the day discussing the dangers of strangers and how to avoid them, also discussing memories of Feather Weight.
The bell rang insisting that recess had begun, the gang of ponies hopped out into the school yard and began to play.
The bell rang once more and all of the students piled back into class.
“Alright children time take roll. Applebloom? 'here' Sweetybelle? 'present' Scootaloo? 'sup' Silver Spoon? '-' Has anypony seen Silver Spoon?
“She was here before recess .” A student cried out. “Hey Diamond Tiara is gone too!”
Cheerilie ran to the phone and call the Emergency hotline. Guards were soon at the door and searching frantically for the two young fillies.
Their rich parents tried to bribe the guards with money to work harder but they were already doing the best they could.
The next day in the newspaper. “Two more fillies found dead. Silver Spoon and Diamond Tiara were lying bent over each other in an alleyway not too far from Sugar Cube Corner. Their flanks had the mysterious butterfly symbol painted in their own blood. On the wall above them were the following words written in blood '3 Crusaders and A Dragon.' Obviously Ponyville has a serial killer on the loose after your fillies and foals, we advise to keep your children at home and do not let them have contact with anypony. Please be advised to take the utmost precaution. RIP”
Everypony met at the library, they wanted answers, they were all together finally. “We cannot let the poor girls and Spike see this, their next and... and.... we have to do something.
“Whoever is doing this writes a butterfly on their victim's flank, what can that tell us.... Has anypony seen Fluttershy the past few days?” Applejack asked.
Rainbow Dash and Applejack went up to Fluttershy's cottage. They knocked on the door expecting her to answer but their wasn't any.
Applejack bucked down the door and trotted inside, Rainbow Dash followed.
“Where is that scaredy cat anyhow?” “I don't know Rainbow but we should start lookin' for clues.
Rainbow Dash and Applejack turned the house upside down trying to find anything that could help. They made their way up to Fluttershy's room.
“Rainbow, take a look at this.” On the wall was a giant painting of what looked like Fluttershy and a small filly, cuddling together.
“Um, What are you both doing in my house, Rainbow and Applejack were startled by Fluttershy as she was just waking up from bed.
“Fluttershy, have you been keeping up to date with the recent tragedies in Ponyville?”
“No what happened?”
“Well 3 students have been killed and all of them had a Butterfly painted on their flank in blood, and well, your cutie mark doesn't exactly tell me your completely innocent.”
“Applejack you know I wouldn't do such a horrible thing, I love all creatures!”
“Well whats this painting mean?”
“That's... um... well... I.. I've always secretly wanted a little brother or sister, or son or daughter, and well, that's just what I would picture it as.”
“Fluttershy, we just want to know that you have nothing to do with this, the next victims are Applebloom, Sweetie Belle, Scootaloo, and Spike. We need to know that your safe.”
“Rainbow Dash for the last time, I WOULDN'T DO THIS!” tears were shooting out of her eyes. She was flapping her wings uncontrollably with her weeping. As she flew up out of bed a clinging noise could be heard on the ground. A bloody scalpel had fallen from the bed. The two ponies looked at each other then back to Fluttershy. Rainbow Dash took her down and held her there while Applejack called the authorities.
Fluttershy was weeping and moaning louder than ever. “PLEASE I WOULDN'T DO THS YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE ME!!”
The authorities came and took Fluttershy away. She was put in the town jail in the high security sector. The jail had almost no use, nopony had ever really tried to break the law, Fluttershy was the only one in there. She was more alone than ever before.
All of her friends came to visit her. She was still weeping her eyes bloodshot from the crying and her Tail and mane a complete mess.
“Fluttershy, why? We cared about you so much!” Twilight yelled.
“It wasn't me I promise you have to believe me!” Each pony gave their thoughts about her as she sat there and cried. All were about to leave Spike let out one last phrase, “I thought you liked baby dragons.” before leaving with the others.
Knowing that the murderer was behind bars, the town quickly began to return to normal.
A buzz sounded which meant lunch was ready. “Up and at em' Fluttershy, lunch time.
` “Thank you sir...”
“Your so sweet, if it makes you feel any better, I know you didn't murder those fillies, nopony as sweet as you could do such a thing.”
“Thank you, it means a lot.”
“Yeah I mean, the person who did it had to have followed you around and learned about you and your friends from a distance studying everything about you and then using your own cutie mark against you, then gain access to your home through your bedroom window while you were out feeding the birdies....”
“What did you just say!?”
“Yeah, or something like that... oh and... nice picture of that little filly cuddling with you, its really sweet that you want a little filly of your own..”
“IT WAS YOU!!!!! YOUR THE REASON EVERYPONY HATES ME, YOU KILLED ALL OF THOSE POOR FILLIES!!”
“I wouldn't go that far, well.. maybe..
Anyways I have to make a quick stop to the library before it closes, theirs a book about dragons I've been DYING to read.
“GET BACK HERE, HELP GUARDS HEEELLLPPP!! SPIKE!! SWEETIE BELLE!!! SCOOTALOO!!”
After the funeral for the baby dragon and the three fillies, they decided to let Fluttershy go, they found who really did it. An ex guard from the Ponyville jail.
Everypony met back at the library. “Flutter shy we're sorry.” Everypony was crying and trying to comfort each other, Rarity, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, and Twilight were mourning over their lost loved ones.
“Girls, I'm sorry this had to happen.” Fluttershy whispered.
“Fluttershy, I know how much you want a little filly in your life, but for right now, all we have left is our... Friendship.”
Fluttershy was no longer alone. Due to these circumstances, the six ponies grew closer together. They wanted nothing more... Than to never let each other feel alone again..
