One sunny day in Ponyville...
Everything was cheery, everybody busy, playing around. sharing the love and for the most part passing around a nice big bowl of pure happiness.
Scootaloo rushed to Rainbow Dash.
"Hey! Rainbow Dash!" She gasped for breath.
"What kid?"
Scootaloo grinned. "I have your cutie mark!!" Rainbow Dash simply rolled her eyes and pulled off a sticker messily placed on her flank.
"Nice try, kid."
Scootaloo sighed and hung her head. "Aww... I'll never get my cutie mark." Scootaloo pouted.
"Pfft. Believe me, you have to be STRONG. You have to be FAST. BRAVE! LOYAL! AWESOME! SUAVE!" Dash continued ranting about her self-traits as Scootaloo walked away.
"No Scootaloo! You'll get your cutie mark!" She told herself. "...Sometime."
--
"Okay, just fly a little higher!" Scootaloo flew herself higher and faster through the clouds. "Come onnnn!" She gritted her teeth. Scootaloo started to run out of breath and her wings slowly grew tired. "Higher! Faster! Stronger..." Scootaloo chanted to herself. On and on she went.
Suddenly she ran into a large tree; There was no way Little Scootaloo could dodge it.
Then there was a snapping sound, no, two snapping sounds stopped her.
Scootaloo felt numbness in her wings as she plummeted to the ground.
Scootaloo hit the ground hard and broke down in a shower of tears.
One pony heard the sobbing and sniffling even from the sky and soon enough was by little Scoot's side.
"Hey!! Kid!! Scootaloo!!! Are you okay?!" Dash nearly yelled.
Scootaloo said between sobs, "Noooo! My wings a-are brok-ken!" She stuttered as a crowd slowly formed. "HEY! PEOPLE! NOTHING TO SEE!!" Rainbow Dash hopped over Scootaloo to protect her. She grabbed her by her mane and rushed to a doctor.
--
Scootaloo soon was released.
Rainbow Dash was the first to visit her. She hovered to her side and nudged her, "You OK kid?"
Scootaloo nodded and sighed. "I have to have these bandages on for three months or so. No flying, no hovering, not even wing-skipping."
Rainbow Dash grinned. "Hey, at least you, um.... Get to practice running faster??"
Scoot smiled. "Yeah I guess. But listen... I was trying to train to be faster, stronger, braver, cooler, all that stuff... Yeah but I guess I failed. You're the bestest (Scoots has bad spelling and grammar!) pony in Ponyville... No, in Equestria, yeah! You're my role model Dashie. I want to become as awesome and suave as you are!"
Rainbow Dash stared with a slight blush and blinked. "Uh... You really think so, kid?"
Scootaloo scoffed. "No duh, you silly willy!" Scootaloo scoffed with a smile.
Rainbow Dash smiled. "Hey, Scoots. I think you're ready to be trained by the awesome moi~"
Scootaloo squealed and bounced. "Oh, boy oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boyyyyy!!!!" Scoots grinned.
"Once three months are over."
--
Three months later, Rainbow Dash indeed kept her promise.
Rainbow Dash dragged Spitfire as she calmly asked, "Why am I here again, Rainbow?"
Rainbow Dash glanced. "You agreed to help me with little Scootaloo, remember?"
Spitfire bit her lip and suddenly her face brightened, "oh yeaaah! I feel bad for the filly. She was trying really hard."
Dash nodded. "Yeah, poor kid."
Scootaloo walked out of the doctor's office, and slowly let her peagasus wings stretch out. She flapped them a few times. "Oh, that feels good. My wings have been hurting, and numb for so long. I'm glad she pretty much fixed them."
Rainbow Dash and Spitfire jumped in front of her so suddenly, "Suprise!!!" They said. Scootaloo gasped in awe. "Rainbow Dash!! Spitfire!! Oh my Celestia!"
Spitfire smiled. "Hello, Scootaloo! How are your wings doin'?"
Scootaloo's mouth draped open as far as it could go. "Uh... Good, I think."
Rainbow Dash put a hoof oh her head. "Hey kid! I'm glad you survived the final surgery, ha ha." Dash flashed Scootaloo a smile.
Scootaloo nodded. "Y-Yeah.." Her eyes welled up with tears. "I-I can't believe Spitfire of the amazing Wonderbolts came... A-And Dash, you kept your promise... I can't thank ya enough!" Scootaloo said with thankfulness and hugged them through tears. Spitfire smiled, "Anytime, Scootaloo." Rainbow Dash blinked, but put a hoof on Scoot's back and smiled. "Anything for you, kid."
--
Spitfire soon left the scene.
Rainbow Dash declared, "Alrighty, ready for your training?" She stretched her front legs and popped her back. With a quick flick of her head her neck made a cracking sound. "Ah... I love doing stretches.~"
Scootaloo grinned, "Dang Dash. You are the master of stretches I'd say."
Dashie rolled her eyes. "Okay, let's get started."
They started off with races (safely and slowly, of course) that got faster and faster, then some running, obstacle courses as well. They stopped for the day after training for three hours for a nice little lunch.
Rainbow Dash said through bites of a delicious ham-and-cheese sandwich, "Wow, Scoots. I'm really impressed."
Scootaloo shrugged and nibbled on a strawberry from her fruit salad. "Wow, this is really yummy."
"Hey, Scoots."
"Yeah, Dashie?"
"I really think our 'relationship' or whatever got better."
"Friendship you mean?"
"Yeah."
"Me too, Rainbow Dash."
Rainbow Dash nuzzled Scootaloo. "You're kinda like the sister I never had."
Scootaloo smiled. "You too!~" Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo quickly finished their meals. "Hey, how 'bout we go on adventure tomorrow?" Dash suggested.
Scootaloo grinned. "Sounds like loads o' fun!"
"Alright... Uh.. But where?" Rainbow Dash started thinking.
"Yeah... Oh, how about... The sky? Everywhere across the blue sky? I need to get used to flying again anyway." Scootaloo said.
Rainbow Dash thought for a moment.
"You know what?"
Scootaloo shook her head. "I do not know, 'sis'. Heh, heh, heh." Scootaloo smiled a warm, little smile that could light up anybody's day.
"We should, sis. And don't worry;
I'll Always Be Right Here By Your Side. "
Rainbow Dash was right; They grew up together, in good times and bad, in tough times and simply amazing times.
They really were 'sisters' at true heart.
Because they both...
Were There By Their Sides.
