//-------------------------------------------------------// The Fury of a Human -by Atrunia- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 Being petrified is not a nice way to go. Most people think that when someone is turned to stone they lose their ability to think. This is terribly wrong. When you are first petrified you are hit by a wave of pain that does indeed knock you unconscious, most people never wake up so it isn't too bad. However, when you are imprisoned for thousands of years and put on display in a ridiculously lively environment, you do regain consciousness. Such was the problem faced by those in the Canterlot Statue Garden, after a few decades the attention focused upon us causes us to regain consciousness. The only good thing that happens when we awaken is that we are able to talk to one another. All of the statues within the garden are connected by a telepathic link and so we get to amuse ourselves with plotting and jokes until the end of time. The majority of the statues are great for keeping one from going insane. There is a sad exception to this though, Discord. The draconequus spends the majority of his time telling pretty good jokes but there are times when he can literally drive someone insane. Sadly, the telepathic link cannot be shut off so quite a few of the resident statues have lost their sanity to the garden's oldest resident. I really hope I'm not one of them. Due to the fact that Discord has been here the longest I really wasn't surprised when he broke out. I wasn't even surprised at the cause of his release. In the 6000-ish years he has been imprisoned there have been many wars, betrayal, and all around chaotic events, so why in the hell did three arguing foals cause him to break loose? Because chaos, that's why. Something that also wasn't surprising was the fact that I could feel the Elements of Harmony firing once again and turning him back to stone. He had only been free for 4 hours. But before he was fully imprisoned once more, he did something that did surprise me. With the snap of his fingers he sent an ungodly amount of chaos magic towards me, cracking the stone around my hand. This stone was meant to survive an apocalyptic amount of magic being used against it, trust me I know, but only from the inside. With the crack now created I was able to force my magic out of the statue to slowly break it apart. Pushing out my magic like this was extremely inefficient and tiring but it got easier the more the statue came apart. After hours of constant pounding on the stone it finally shattered. It wasn't an explosion of magic in an epic proportion that you might expect from a 3000 year long imprisonment reaching its end, it just shattered and fell to the ground, nice and quiet. "I'm free," I whimpered, "I'm finally free." I realized that my connection to the other statues was broken, this made sense as I was no longer imprisoned like them. Yet even though this was the case I still felt that there was one presence hanging on. 'Hello?' I thought, reaching out telepathically. My attempt at communication was quickly answered with a very familiar laugh, the laugh of a chaos god. 'Oh so you figured out I was here did you,' Discord responded, 'I honestly thought it would take you a lot longer.' 'You left a telepathic connection to me, the only one,' I explained, 'it was pretty easy to see.' 'Getting sloppy?' I questioned, 'it took you only four hours to get imprisoned again, that's pretty bad.' 'Well, I'm sorry if I wanted to have a little fun,' he moped but then returned to his standard jovial tone, 'but that's what I released you for, by having a telepathic link to you I can enjoy you wreaking havoc almost as much as if I had done it myself.' I didn't respond and I soon felt the link dissipate, indicating he wasn't watching at the time. it was kind of depressing to have nobody to talk to after 3000 years of only talking, but who cared, I WAS FREE. Reaching out with my mind, I soon found my minions in my old dwelling, they were alive. For the first time in millennia I felt a sense of true joy, someone had survived from my time, someone that didn't hate me. I sent out a telepathic pulse to the swarm, a pulse that would soon cause them to awaken once more. Confirming that the pulse had caused the wake up process to begin I made my way out of the garden, though not by the usual means. If I were to walk into the streets I would instantly have Celestia and Luna on my ass so I took a more unconventional route, I jumped off the side of the mountain. For most people this would be suicide due to the ridiculously steep cliff, but most people didn't know quick transformation spells. I sent a charge of magic into one of the runes in my staff and soon felt myself changing. Just a hundred feet before the bottom the change had been completed and I slowed myself down with my new wings. With my velocity now under control I began to fly. The rune I had used changed an individual into an animal of some sort, different for each person. For me personally it was a raven, the huge midnight bird. There were no ravens in this world naturally so I stood out quite a bit. Flapping my wings, I soon found myself over Canterlot. No doubt one of the ponies down below had noticed me, the giant black bird. To ponies there was a thought that ravens were a bad omen. I, being the only raven, had started this rumor to generate fear and protect myself from poachers. Unknown to the ponies below though, this rumor would ring true this time. Soon the ponies would pay for what they had done to me, soon they would burn.
