It was a bright and beautiful day in the city of Ponyville while Aries Bolt made her way through the busy streets. Ponies were out and about as they were doing their shopping in the busy marketplace at the center of town. But Aries was out for a completely different reason whilst she trotted along towards Ponyville’s library. As she made it she knocked a few times eliciting a few sounds from the inside as the door quickly opened, revealing one of her friends, Sub Zero.
“Oh hey Sub! Didn’t expect to see you here.” Aries said cheerfully.
Sub Zero waved his hoof dismissively as he beamed back at her, “Ah I’m not here to read, Twilight is out for a while and I’m holding down the fort.” He explained as he let Aries in the library.
As Aries walked through she looked around, noticing all of the out of place books around the library.
“What happened in here?” She asked still looking around the library.
Sub’s ears pulled back slightly while he gave a sheepish smile. “I kind of…. don’t know what I’m doing….” He finished while he rubbed one of his legs.
Rolling her eyes a bit she gave another smile and took to the air as she began rearranging books, placing them all back in their designated spots. “Don’t worry, I’ll help you out, I have some free time on my hooves.” She finished as she placed the last book on the shelf before smiling in satisfaction.
“Oh wow… that was…. uh… fast.” Sub exclaimed as he looked around the pristine library. “That was like… Rainbow Dash levels of fast… Don’t tell her I said that though…” He said casting a worried glance over to Aries, eliciting a small giggle from her as she gave a quick glance around her.
“It was no trouble really, you should have told me you’d be here, I could’ve helped.” She said smiling at her work.
“Anyway… did you come here for anything in particular?” Sub asked as he threw a questioning glance to Aries.
“Uh… OH YES right I came here for the-”
“Big book of planets and stars?” Sub cut in, hovering over a big book covered in different constellations.
“How did you know?” She asked looking over sub as the book was placed in her saddlebag.
Sub raised an eyebrow at her as he gave a, ‘Seriously?’ look at Aries, causing her to blush slightly.
"Oh come on Aries, you come here almost every week to get it, ever thought about just buying the thing?” He asked as he tilted his head a bit.
Aries gave a small smile as she looked at the ground for a minute before replying. “Well.. I kind of don't have the extra money right now, so I guess I just have to borrow it again.” She finished as she brought the book to the counter as Sub began filling out the paperwork for the book.
Half way through the work, sub stopped for a moment before trashing the paperwork and bringing out a completely different sheet. As he filled in the information, he put his own name, and checked the box labeled purchase before filing the paper in the correct area.
Alright you're all set to go, it’s all yours.” Sub said as he walked over to the door as he patiently waited for Aries.
“What do you mean, All mine?” She asked as she made her way to the door while sub opened it for her.
“Well I decided, instead of you having to CONSTANTLY come back and get it, I would just…. buy it for you.” He said as he rubbed his front leg again.
Aries looked down at the book then up to sub with a thankful gaze, “Wow… really? Thanks!” she said loudly as she reached in and gave Sub a hug before quickly pulled back, a slight blush on her face.
“Well, I hope you have fun, C ya later!” He said as he gave a small wave and moved from the door.
With a moments hesitation, Aries came back and caught the door before it closed, opening it back all the way as she saw Sub turn around with a curious glance.
“Oh? Did you forget something?” He asked innocently.
Aries quickly responded to Sub as a slight blush appeared on her face. “Well… no. I was wondering if you wanted to… um… come over to my place. Tonight. To stargaze. At my place….” She said wearing a small smile as her ears drew back slightly. “After all, I owe you for getting me this book…” She finished, motioning to the book.
Thinking about it for a moment Sub gave a wide smile and nodded. “Alright sure, I’d love to, I’ll be over some time around 10 o’clock.” He stated whilst still smiling.
Aries perked up at the news and nodded as she made her way out the door again. “Alright I’ll see you then!”

Aries was home, rushing around to get her house ready. She had her telescope set up next to the window with a blanket laid out that was covered in star constellations. Finally you had a plate of random snacks sitting out as she had no idea what Sub wanted this late. So she decided just to get some cheese n' crackers and some cookies. While she was running around making sure everything was set up, the clock of her home rung 10 o'clock.
*Knock knock knock*
Aries bolt slid to a stop, freezing in place as she looked at the door. She quickly shook herself off and slowly made her way to the door as she took in a few deep breaths and stopped at the door. Quickly opening the door she drew in a breath as she addressed the pony on the other side.
"My welcome home!" She blurted out before blushing, "I MEAN, welcome to my home!" She smiled out while trying to hide her embarrassment as Sub smiled at her.
After a few awkward moments of silence Sub spoke up.
"Yeah it looks like a nice place... would probably be better if I could see the inside though." He said while chuckling.
Dropping her smile, Aries quickly got out of the way to allow Sub to pass as she blushed. "S-sorry... i don't usually have visitors."
"Yeah you and me both." Sub said as he walked past Aries and into the house. "So I see you have everything ready. Where are we going to do this?"
Confused, Aries turned to sub, "What do you mean? We can't go outside, its kinda chilly out there tonight."
Shaking his head, he began levitating the telescope, blanket and snacks and made his way out the back door. Motioning for Aries to follow him. As they got outside they could feel the cold bite at them. After a few minutes of walking and making it to a nice secluded part on a field, Sub laid everything down while spreading the blanket down.
"Alright, now come here." He said, motioning to the spot next to him as he sat down on the blanket.
Shrugging, Aries walked over to Sub and lay down beside him. Sub began to charge his horn as a large bubble formed around the two, before dispersing moments after. After that the temperature started to slowly rise until it reached a cozy amount.
"How did you do that? I thought your special talent was frost magic?" She asked as she glanced towards his cutie mark.
"Nah, it's not that, don't let the name fool ya. Although I never really explain it to anyone... I don't think I ever even told you. Anyway my special talent is elemental magic. So I can control magic that has to do with the elements much better than any other pony."
Aries nodded but on the inside smacked herself in the muzzle. 'How could I forget his SPECIAL TALENT! What's wrong with me...'
Looking over, Aries watched Sub as he set the telescope up towards the sky before giving up and flopping on his back beside her. He let out a "Humph" before looking at her out of the corner of his eye before turning his attention to the sky.
While Sub watched the night sky dazzle with a million lights, Aries flopped onto her back too, and slowly inched her way beside Sub until her side was touching his. The moment they made contact, Sub looked over and gave a smile before glancing up just in time to see a shooting star.
"Heh, hey Aries, make a wish." Sub said to her as he gave a small stretch, making himself move unintentionally closer to Aries.
"I wish I had more nights like this..." She said aloud as she pushed against Sub before her eyes widened when she realized what she just said. "I.. uh I- mean-"
"Well I'm free tomorrow? We can hang out then?" He asked as he raised an eyebrow and smiled to Aries.
"Wait, you mean in the morning? Like, to go out?" She asked as she felt her heart almost stop.
"Yeah. If that's alright with you."
"YEAH... I mean, yeah sure. I'm free tomorrow." She said with a furious blush, hidden by the darkness of the night.
"Alright..." He said as he nudged her before moving in a bit closer, making Aries breath catch. "I guess its a date..."
Aries thought about those words for a few moments as she looked back up to the sky as she slowly cuddled up to Sub's side.
The next few days should be interesting.
