Filling the Cup of Fertility
In the dimly lit library at the end of the castle, Lord Solaris laid on a cot in the middle of the room with his face in an interesting novel. As ruler of all Equestria, he was bestowed with the responsibility of keeping the country from collapsing into itself. With that there were mountains of paperwork, meeting with foreign diplomats, and even keeping the citizens safe. It was a full time job and it ran him ragged, though there was always something he looked forward too at the end of the day.
It was the night. As soon as Solaris lowered the sun and his brother Artemis raised the moon, it meant he was free of his duties till the sun had to be raised again. The hours seemed short, but they were better than nothing. During that time he would either sleep or read as he was doing now.
“Oh Music Honey, you’ll nev-” he cooed, but was interrupted by both library doors blasting open. To which he instinctively covered his head as the doors went crashing into two badly placed bookcases, causing books to fly everywhere.
“Uncle!” A cheery recognizable voice sang, loud enough to cause Solaris’ ears to ring. “Uncle, I’m so excited for tonight I could hardly stand it.” Princess Bluebell continued as she began bouncing around her uncle, completing circuits with a large smile on her face.
Solaris was deeply annoyed at the interruption, but to see his usually unsocial and snooty niece so happy and cheery, well…he just had to know what was making her so happy.
Lord Solaris placed his specially designed silk bookmark in between the pages and pushed the book aside. He then swiveled his head to follow his niece who was probably on her twentieth lap and ask, “What is making you so excited my dear?”
Princess Bluebelle stopped in her tracks and pressed her muzzle against her uncles, snuggling him in their usual show of affection, “My Fertility Ceremony is going to start tonight.” She then wrapped a fore hoof around her uncle’s shoulders and with her other free hoof, pointed it to the ceiling, sweeping it like it was a shooting star, all the while swooning over her future self. “Just think at midnight, I, Princess Bluebelle will become a mare whom is ready to take on the next step of marehood! Even my mother is going to be there and is taking me to find the most handsome stallion in all of Equestria.”
Lord Solaris looked up to the ceiling with a hoof bouncing on his chin, “Fertility Ceremony, Fertility Ceremony…” he repeated. “Didn’t you already do one when you was younger.”
“No, no, no,” Bluebelle waved a hoof dismissively. “That was the coming of age ceremony Uncle. You’re getting things mixed up again. Well anyways…who did you choose to donate the err…ingredients to the cup of fertility from?” She said with a slight blush on her face.
“Hmm what do you mean? We have all our wine stored in the cellar, and with all the wine I receive from gifts, I haven’t bought any for some near…five hundred years.” Lord Solaris asked.
Princess Bluebelle’s eyes went wide and she became frantic, “Uncle, you’re joking? Please tell me you’re joking? Please tell me this is all a ruse to mess with your niece.”
“What do you mean?”
Princess Bluebelle’s forehead creased as her hoof came crashing towards it once realizing what this meant, “Uncle! The Cup of Fertility is to hold the semen of the most handsome of all the virgin stallions in the world, the very cup that I’m to drink from during the upcoming ceremony later tonight. Uncle!” Bluebelle’s voice soon became muddled with worry. “You had one job Uncle, one job.”
Lord Solaris’s eyes shot open too in disbelief, “What!? Is that what was I suppose to get? I thought it was just a joke. I’ve never heard of such a thing.”
“That’s because you never had any foals before, let alone a little filly.” She shot back.
The two held a staring contest as there was complete silence. If there was no semen in the Cup of Fertility then there would be no ceremony. And that meant one thing, Lord Solaris had to find a way to get the cup filled in that short amount of time, and quite possibly at any cost. Midnight was creeping closer, there wasn’t much time.
“H-how big is that cup again? How much sperm do we need to fill it? Where are we going to find the stallions up to the task at this time?” Lord Solaris shouted, nearly breaking into a cold sweat.
“Uncle calm down, there has to be a way we can fill the cup in time.”
“W-what if I you know…into the cup, it’s not like anyone else will know and with these huge set of apples I’m sure I coul-“Prince Solaris said, cupping both his apples before being interrupted.
“Eww Uncle no, I’m not drinking your whatever at the ceremony.”
“What’s wrong with it, all the mares seem to love it.” He said to niece, whom was eyeing him like he was some creep. He felt somewhat offended his niece’s words.
“Anyways you have to fill that cup and I have no idea who can donate their share in this town.”
“What that one stallion, you know the son of that pastry maker at the end of town?” He suggested.
“Eww, no, somepony suitable. Anypony, but that pimple faced monster.” She said with utter disgust on her face.
“Wait, wait, wait I think I know of a way to get that cup filled. Isn’t Dusk Shine holding a sleepover at the library? I was pretty sure he came over here to ask Artemis personally if he would be willing to sleep over.”
“You know now that I think of it I did see him earlier, but no…you aren’t suggesting them are you?” Her face was less than enthusiastic. “Did you not see what they did at the Grand Galloping Gala, and that Elusive character is just so…”
“It may be our only choice.”
Bluebelle sighed heavily, “Fine, I don’t think I have much of a choice anymore. You better not ruin this for me, Uncle.”
