Elements of Character
Prologue
Load Full StoryNext Chapter“A long time ago… before I was banished to the moon, Celestia and I made the Elements of Harmony. It was said that whoever wielded these elements were to be the royal guard of Celestia. However, unknown to my sister, I made six more Elements… the Elements of Character. Confidence, Bravery, Happiness, Respect, Diligence, and Trustworthiness. They were just as strong as the Elements of Harmony, maybe even stronger. Confidence to rival Magic, Bravery to outdo Loyalty, Happiness to beat Laughter, and so on.
“However, when I became corrupt and distant, the Elements got weaker. When I turned into The Nightmare, I was confident that my Elements were strong enough to overthrow my dear sister. My sister, older and wiser than I, used the Elements of Harmony and banished me to the Moon. Before she did however, she took the Elements of Character from me and hid them.
“When I got back, and was lifted from the curse of The Nightmare, I searched everywhere for my six Elements… but could never find them. Eventually, Celestia showed me where they were. They were in our old castle. I retrieved them and brought them back here.
“This should be time of rejoice, Sombra, Discord, and Chrysalis have all been defeated. Not only that, but we have a new princess and The Crystal Empire has been restored to its former glory.
“However, I can’t help but have a feeling that something wrong is going to happen… that is why you are here.”
Luna sighed as she finished her story and looked at the pale unicorn standing a few inches away from her.
“Okay,” The unicorn said, “but I still don’t see why you chose me.”
Luna looked at her with warmth in her eyes, “You have potential, I need you to go and get the other wielders of the Elements of Character for me.”
The unicorn still looked confused, “Yeah, I got that part, but why choose me? I mean, I’m sure there is somepony more qualified.”
“Be that as it may,” Luna replied, “I believe in you. I believe that you can save Equestria.”
The unicorn sighed and stared at the alicorn night princess, “No offense, Princess, but isn’t that Twilight’s job?”
The Princess nodded, “True, but even the Elements of Harmony can do so much.” She smirked at the pale blue mare.
The unicorn mare looked down, “Yeah, well, I think Equestria has had enough of me… or at least Ponyville has.”
Luna trotted up to the mare and raised her head gently. She looked straight into her violet eyes. “I know what pain you have gone through… I, too, was hated and ridiculed. I was corrupted by a magical force just as you were from the Alicorn Amulet. You and I are more alike than you think.”
There was a moment of silence as the unicorn mare thought it over. Eventually she nodded.
“Very well, I will go find the other Elements.” She said.
Luna smiled and nodded. “Thank you. Before you go, you need this.” Luna levitated a red gem and a chest to the mare. She pointed at the gem. “This is the Element of Confidence. Wear it well.”
The mare nodded and levitated it into her saddlebags.
“And this,” Luna pointed at the chest, “is the other Elements. You will know who they are destined to belong to.”
The mare looked at the box curiously, “How will I know?”
Luna smiled, but ignored her question, “When the time is right, open it.” She floated the chest to her and the mare took it and gently put it in her saddlebags.
The mare nodded with confidence. “Don’t worry, I won’t let you down.”
Luna smiled, “I don’t need to worry.” She spread her wings. “Now, go and fetch the other wielders.”
The unicorn nodded again and trotted out of Luna’s room in the Canterlot Castle.
Luna watched her go and said, “Goodbye and good luck… my Great and Powerful Trixie.”
