One certain mare bounced through town with a grin glued on her face. This pony was named Pinkie Pie. She had big, blue eyes, a light pink coat, along with a fluffy, hot pink mane and tail. She was heading back to Sugarcube Corner from a lovely morning picnic with her friends. She softly hummed a tune to herself as she entered the sweet smelling building. Since it was now her shift, she trotted over to the counter and started waiting for ponies to come and buy one of the delicious treats they had to offer.
Pinkie Pie's ears shot up when she heard the familiar bell from the door. She quickly picked up her head from the counter and faced forward. When Pinkie spotted the costumer coming towards her, she tried to recall ever seeing this pony around Ponyville before. She couldn't think of one memory of this Pegasus. Pinkie Pie couldn't recognize the mare. She had a gray, dull coat, a shiny, orange mane along with eyes that matched it's color and a broken heart for a cutiemark. Pinkie's blue orbs widened as the thought crossed her mind. This was a new pony, who she hasn't welcomed yet. Pinkie gasped, how could she forget?
The mare with a large frown painted upon her lips couldn't even make it the counter before Pinkie popped up in front of her. The mare jumped back in shock and fell. Pinkie then went over and helped her up.
"Oh, are you okay? I didn't mean to scare you like that, its just that I've never seen you around before, but then I realized that you're new here, so I decided to surprise by singing my welcome song!," said Pinkie in one breath before she sung her song. While Pinkie Pie was doing all this, the mare's face became one of complete anger. Her whole face started to turn red as she gritted her teeth.
"Now that you have been welcomed, let me get you what you came here for! So, what can I get you?," asked Pinkie, walking back behind the counter.
Behind her teeth she replied with "I would like one chocolate cupcake."
"Sure thing!," stated Pinkie as she went under the counter and grabbed the baked good from it's case. She gave it to the mare.
"This one will be on the house because you are new to town!," Pinkie said, already thinking of the party she was going to make.
"Sure, whatever.," the Pegasus said with an annoyed voice.
When she began to walk out the door, Pinkie ran up to her, almost making her fall again. With a huff, she turned her head to face Pinkie Pie.
"Yes!?," she said with force.
"What is your name?," questioned Pinkie.
"None of your business, you pest.," answered the new pony, venom in her words.
Pinkie frowned for a split second, but it left just as quickly as it came and was replaced with the same smile she had moments ago.
"Okie dokie lokie then.," Pinkie said with a grin.
While Pinkie was about to head back to work, she accidentally bumped into the grumpy mare who didn't want anything to do with Pinkie Pie. When this happened, the cupcake that was held in one of her hooves fell on the ground and she tripped. This caused her whole stomach to fall on the brown frosting. Pinkie ran over to the pony to help her up, but the mare was not going to take it. She slowly stood up and punched Pinkie to the ground. Pinkie went flying across the room, bumping her head into the wall. The mysterious pony wasn't done yet, she then kicked pinkie in the face. Blood quietly trickled from Pinkie's forehead and mouth. No pony was at the shop to save her from the monster that was hurting her. Pinkie felt like she was drowning, she couldn't breath. Blood continued dripping from her mouth.
"That's what you get, you weird, annoying, pink, rat!"
"I only wanted to be your friend, I-I'm f-f-friends with e-every p-pony.," Pinkie stuttered, tears running down like a river.
"Keep dreaming, no pony wants a friend like you! You're not normal, you're stupid, and I bet the friends you do have don't mean it. Ha, like any pony would like some annoying fluff ball for a friend!," laughed the new bully, giving one final kick to Pinkie's leg.
She couldn't move, her whole body felt as if it was on fire. By now her attacker was already gone, she was all alone. Pinkie slowly picked herself from the floor, making her give off a pained groan. She got up and onto her hooves and limped to the stairs. She could barely see anything because of the tears that was blurring her vision as they leaked down her cheeks. She held onto the rail so she wouldn't tumble down, pulling herself up.
When she finally got to the top of the stairs, she walked down the hall and entered her room. Pinkie Pie went to her bathroom, feeling as if she was about to pass out right there on her floor. She put her hoof on her sink, supporting herself. Pinkie Pie turned the faucet and splashed some of the running water on her face. She felt broken, numb, and like she just did something bad. Why did she have to get beat for just bumping into her? She only needed to clean herself off and Pinkie could've just gotten her another cupcake.
Pinkie Pie finished cleaning all the blood off her face and looked at her reflection. All she saw was a blue and purple mess. She couldn't look at herself. Pinkie's face had bruises all along her face, a black eye, and cuts on the top of her face. Her mane was not it's curly, bouncy self, it was straight and stringy. Pinkie saw how swollen it looked and thought about getting ice, but she first had to get the wound that was on her leg fixed first.
Pinkie went to her cabinet and got a new bar of soap and put it under the water. She then put it on the tiny open cut and proceeded to rub the soap on it, cleaning it. She then got some bandages and put two over her cut to cover it all. Pinkie then went and stumbled down the steps and went to the kitchen. She opened the freezer and took out a bag of cold peas. Pinkie Pie's shift ended a few minutes ago, so with the freezing bag on her swollen face, she decided to put the closed sign up. The Cakes wouldn't be back until the very next day, so Pinkie was alone for that day.
Pinkie went up again and left to her room. Her whole body collapsed onto her pink bed, right on her back with the bag still on her black eye. Pinkie just laid there staring at her ceiling, thinking. Did the things the pony said was true, did her friends really mean their friendship? Was she not normal, just an annoying pest like the mare said?
Pinkie went back into her bathroom, facing the mirror. She saw her straight mane again, making her gag. She never really liked it, she loved her bouncy mane, but was it normal? Sure, it's not exactly a regular thing for your mane to just fluff up when your happy and straighten when you're upset, but that just made her extra special, right? Was she really some freak of nature? Pinkie saw a pink, mouthwatering cupcake next to her bed on the table. Pinkie walked out of the bathroom and to the side of her bed where the cupcake sat on the little table. She quickly snatched it off it's plate and gobbled it up, savoring the sweet taste of strawberry. It helped calm her down and her dull, hot pink mane frizzed up into it's messy curls again. This caused Pinkie to smile, but then it disappeared when she thought of all the things that were said to her.
This was the case, until Pinkie noticed the hair pins on her dresser. Pinkie Pie then got an idea. Pinkie set the pea bag on her bed. She grabbed the hair pins, the brush that was next to them, some hair spray and she ran to the mirror. The brush pulled through her hair, making Pinkie wince, but she kept brushing through the tangled mess. Pinkie managed to get all her knots out and her mane was now just slightly wavy. She then saw some hair gel by some of her shampoos and other shower stuff. Taking it with her hoof, she squirted some in her mane, making it a little straighter but it was now fully wavy. In order for it to keep it from going up into a curly mess again, she took the hair pins and put them in, holding her hair into place. She then added some hair spray to make it secure. Pinkie did the same procedure to her tail. Pinkie's mane and tail now looked like bubblegum, because of it's shiny look to it and how the tips looked like mini bubbles. When Pinkie looked to admire her work, she thought it needed something else. That is when she saw a light blue bow the size of Apple Bloom's on her dresser. She walked over to it and took it with her to the bathroom. She tied it in the back of her mane and looked at her reflection.
Pinkie saw the new her. Bubblegum looking mane with a big, blue bow in the back. When she was done seeing her looks, Pinkie walked out and into her room. She picked up the peas off her bed and went down stairs. She put them back in the freezer and found some tea bags. Pinkie needed something that could help calm her hyperness, all so she could start acting normal. Pinkie began making the tea. When she was done, she made sure not to put in any sugar and drank it. It was soothing and she felt relaxed. She never had any tea before, mostly because it would tire her out, but now that she needed to begin acting normal, she was now going to make this something she would do everyday from now on.
When she sipped her last sip, Pinkie thought of getting a book from Twilight. Pinkie slowly made her way out the door and began going to Twilight's new castle. She got some looks and "Oh my.,"s from ponies as she passed along through town. she didn't cover her black eye with anything and the way she was limping didn't surprise her.
Pinkie knocked on the door with her good hoof when she finally made it. Twilight opened her door and greeted.
"Oh, Pinkie! What are you doing here?," asked Twilight, but then she gave a confused and shocked expression.
"Why did you knock? since when do you knock?," questioned the Alicorn, giving a puzzled look.
"Oh, hello there Twilight. I just came to pick up a book. Do you have any in this new castle of yours?," Pinkie Pie stated.
"Are you alright, Pinkie? Why are you not acting like yourself? Why do you want a book, when do I ever see you reading a book? Why are you so calm? Whats up with the bow and your hair?!," cried Twilight.
"What happened to your eye!? Are you okay?," Twilight continued on with her questions.
"Yes, Twilight, I'm fine. I got this black eye and leg injury by getting beat up. Some new pony punched and kicked me. They also called me names, but some of these names were true.," Pinkie said with a calm voice.
"What kind of things were true?," asked Twilight.
"They said I was not normal, this made me realize that I am weird and not normal, so I decided to change myself so you girls could like me more. Its great, right?"
"Pinkie, the girls and I would love you just the way you are. You are normal, actually, you're very special.," Twilight said.
"Please, Twilight, you and me both know that no pony wants to be my friend because I'm some crazy mare. The way I am now suits me much better. I am going to assume that you don't have any books at the moment, so I will leave. Thank you anyway.," Pinkie said, heading back to Sugarcube Corner.
Twilight just looked out to where Pinkie just stood. She knew how sensitive Pinkie was and she knew this really got to her. She was willing to change who she was just to be with them. It made twilight worried. She had to help Pinkie. Twilight quickly closed her door and made her way to Rarity's.
