Night was nothing special to most ponies, save for a few, who preferred it more than day. Only a handful of ponies stayed up late and observed the wonderful magic that happened during nights when the stars lit the sky bright, when the wind slowly danced around the trees and the whole world seemed to be still.
This night, however, was different: the stars seemed scarce in the sky and were barely visible, there was no wind and the night just felt like everything – the trees, the sky and the wind – was dead.
Every night Luna would raise the moon and scatter the sky with stars, make sure the night was calm and then proceeded to wander through everypony’s dreams and help them with their problems that they dreamt, but not that night. High in Canterlot, in the royal sisters’ castle Luna locked herself in her room, not wanting to be disturbed and silently cried herself to sleep. She didn’t have the energy nor was she in the mood to go into other ponies’ dreams and advise them what to do with their problems. Because of this she didn’t know that somepony else was crying and even if she did, there was nothing she could have helped the crying pony with.
