Twilight of the Soul

Oh, ah hah! So, I didn't scare you?

I have a proposition, if you have a moment.

The flow of time is convoluted, it is said. Those who say so are lost to time, content to drift upon the current as mere pawns to the whims of fate. To those with the courage, and the ability, they may attempt to alter the natural state of things to break the fetters of destiny. Those who do so rarely wield their power for a selfless cause.

The Knight is cursed, trapped within an ancient ruin and within his own broken body. Within him is the key to save the flickering embers of a dying world or to merely to prolong the inevitable coming of the Dark, but that key can only be uncovered with bloody toil and truly staggering sacrifice. His only hope lies not within himself, but within another soul of unmatched purity.

We are amidst strange beings, in a strange land.

All Twilight wanted was to get to sleep, the newly crowned Princess resting away the stress of the day, only to find herself caught in a struggle so distant and strange as to border on the realms of impossibility. When the Darkness claims a soul, it does not intend to allow it to slip away.

The way I see it, our fates appear to be intertwined.

A Dark Souls 1 crossover, as you've probably been able to guess. Take a cup full of optimism and childlike wonder and throw a bucket of misery and nihilistic stoicism and you have the recipe for something.

This is my first fic, and a fairly ambitious one at that, hopefully I can learn from any mistakes I make as I go along and ultimately produce something worth reading at the same time.

Thanks for checking it out.
