Shadowmars was once known as the Guardian of Darkness, a pony whose very presence corrupted light and turned good into evil. A thousand years previous he was defeated by Celestia and banished into obscurity by a spell that erased all memory of him. But now he has returned, but without any memory of who or what he used to be. Found by a shy but caring pony he is brought back to Ponyville to find a new life for himself. However with the terrible dreams and odd powers he is both blessed and cursed with its impossible to know if he can stay on the side of light with his friends, or if the hold of darkness is still strong after all these years.
