Basic History of Equestria

Discords reign may have been short but it was a harsh one. He had destroyed practically everything in Equestria and it was only the combined strengths of the two sisters, Luna and Celestia, that everything was well again. It was a slow build but the ponies would eventually get back up on their feet. Many lives were lost and many souls were hurt but soon happiness would find its way again. With the alicorns gone, the unicorns where now tasked with bringing up the sun and moon. This alone was a immense and stressful task. It took immense power to raise the sun and moon and in doing so required six unicorns. Star Swirl leading each pack as he was the most powerful. If a unicorn did it for too long their powers where wiped out..forever. The alicorns that defeated the beast known as Discord was gone and no where to be found. It had been a total of sixty years passed since then. One of the alicorns who was out on stroll, looked on to see a group of unicorns before her. The unicorns struggled hard to raise the sun. They where turning blue and their magic was depleting. Star swirl did his best to ag them on as the sun was nearing its peak but he too could feel the effects of the magic depleting. The alicorn could not stand to see the ponies trying so hard to raise the sun. Seeing their magic being depleted. The unicorns had all fallen out except Star Swirl who was doing his best to finish the job. losing his color and his powers quickly. The alicorn could not stand it any longer. She ran out into the group. "Stop! Please!" She closed her eyes and her horn glowed a yellow. The unicorns all watched in 'aw' as the pony before them was raising the sun with ease laying the sun brightly and high into the sky. Star Swirl had obtained his magic back and so did the unicorns. His color was even restored. The unicorns asked Star Swirl how on earth a single pony could do such a thing. Star Swirl later pointed to her and they saw the wings she bore and horns. It was an actual live alicorn! An alicorn had not been seen since the ruling family had perished and Discord reigned. Star Swirl then preceded to point towards her flank. On it was her cutie mark in the shape of the sun. Luna came later searching for her and earned a few more gasps from the unicorns. Now before them not stood only one, but two alicorns!

Star Swirl later was invited to the location of where the pony sisters kept to themselves. He recognized it as the Castle of the ruling family before Discords reigned as it was located deep into Everfree forest which had, by now, became a place of dangers. The two alicorns introduced themselves as Celestia and Luna. He remebered those names all too well. They where his students. The ones he was teaching to learn how to be rulers and control their magic. He introduced himself and Celestia and Luna remembered as well. He was old and up in age and looked vastly different than from before. He talked with them and stated that it had been fifty years since any alicorn had been seen and that most, if not all, where gone. Discord had killed them off. Celestia and Luna embraced each other as they remember the harsh moments where their mother, the very embodiment of the dawn and galaxies caressed them and sacrificed herself by giving them food and using her own magic to heal them from Discords made illnesses. Their father, the embodiment of stars and comets fought with he other alicorns only to be tossed around like toys. Tears filled the two sisters eyes. The traps in the castle that was laid down by Luna and the fun moments they had by playing pranks where now gone and for those fifty years they both had mourned their parents death. Star Swirl had also stated that unicorns for those years had sacrificed their magic in order to raise the sun and moon which made them both feel guilty. He later mentioned how alicorn magic was different and stronger than any other pony magic and how their ancestors, themselves alone where probably powerful enough to stop Discord. He later mentioned the tree of harmony and asked if that where the sisters took hold of them. Turns out that Celestia and Luna had heard tales about the Tree of Harmony from their parents and Star Swirl but neither of them thought that it existed until that was Star Swirl showed them the tree. They where to become the first bearers of the elements. Celestia and Luna however bugged him questions about the star shaped mark in the middle of the tree but Star Swirl had refused to tell them about it.

Celestia however knew that mark meant something and told herself that in due time the meaning would come. Star Swirl later asked if Celestia and Luna would take their parents place and become rulers of Equestria and keep the peace and harmony between the three tribes. After all, he thought, why not have a ruler that represented the union between all three? They where reluctant at first but took on the responsibility. Star swirl would soon continue on teaching them about the elements and how to rule. Celestia knew one day that her time as ruler would eventually come to pass and she wanted Star Swirl to fulfill that role. the news broke about them being the children of King Their coordination was filled with fanfare with the sparkling arrays of the ponies.No longer did the ponies had to struggle to raise the sun and the moon and they finally had protectors. They where looked upon and honored after that and earned the respect of neighboring kingdoms. Celestia made it her duty to unite the kingdoms and so did. Celestia and Luna went to each kingdom to unite them. Saddle Arabia had been on bad terms with the ponies before the tribes where united and did not welcomed their new ruler with open arms but Celestia eased them of their skepticism and befriended them. The Crystal Empire ruler did not meet in person but instead sent his messengers to discuss talks with Celestia and report back. The ruler agreed and news where bought back to Celestia and Luna. Crossing the great bearing ocean was one of danger and trial and many lives where lost in the great storms that forever was stored there but Celestia and Luna went through using their magic to protect them and their adventuring ponies. One was done and now they set forth to go to and discover kingdoms that had not even known Equestria to exist.

The sisters came back after their unification of nations had been through. It took them a hefty three years to settle everything between the nations and each where finally getting some well earned intimate time together away from the burdens that came with being a ruler. Luna still did not earn her cutie mark. "Sister! I can do this by myself!"

"If you say so Luna." Celestia chuckled. Celestia was skillful in her raising of the sun and knew that Luna would soon be too. It took her practice but with time she raised the sun with little effort. Luna squinted her eyes and raised herself into the air. Her horn glowing a deep purple. The moon raised high with little hesitation. Luna fell down and Celestia flew up to catch her.

"Can I open them?"

"Yes, Luna." Luna looked up and saw the beautiful silver moon before her. It would become her pride and glory but she had one more thing to do. "No stars Luna?"

"No, not this time."

"I tell you what, you continue practicing and raising the moon and I will handle the stars until you are ready." Luna smiled.

"Thank you, big sister." The sisters held and embraced one another and slept under the beautiful sky which was there fathers pride. The reflection of the moon showing clearly and beautiful on the younger's flank.
