Twilight Sparkle had just moved to Ponyville in a small cottage near Everfree Forest. She liked the big city Canterlot and its pretty lights, so she wasn't happy about the move. But that's not the only reason that Twilight isn't happy. Her parents are a total annoyance, never playing with her or even paying attention to her since their job is "so important". Even trying to make friends with a peculiar pink pony Pinkie Pie does no good. Twilight Sparkle is just bored.

That is, until she comes across a trapdoor that at night, opens to another world where everything is perfect. She meets her "Other Mother", a carbon copy of her mom except with unnerving black button eyes that always understands and always listens. A library full of endless knowledge, a feast full of her favorite foods…it seemed too good to be true.

And unfortunately for Twilight, it may be so, as everything slowly begins to slowly fall apart and the whole alternate universe begins to become poisoned with madness.
