Balloons and Birthday Cake
Loud, happy party music blasted through the windows of Pinkamena Diane Pie's old home. The gray, barren landscape changed drastically with the exciting music that raised the hearts of Pinkamena's parents and sisters, bringing them into a merry dance into happiness. Life was some much better for Pinkamena, thanks to the mysterious rainbow that lit her heart bright and vibrant. While it unfortunately frizzled her mane, that problem was far from the life-changing blast of nature that tore away all the sadness that caked her heart. But now the cake she had was edible and sweet. Pinkamena and her family changed that day, since it had been their first smile in a long time. The landscape was gray, but the spirits bursted with color like the rainbow shooting across the sky like a jet.
Pinkamena had one thing on her mind since then--bring the joy she held. She bent over backwards and forwards, and even sideways to keep her family happy. And it worked.
Pinkamena's light spirit and bouncy personality helped her closest relatives bring the joy they deserved, and the solemn aspects of her living conditions never got in the way. Everyday was a party to her now. All it was was really birthday cake, balloons, and party hats flowing through her mind like a stream. She now had changed.
The sun rose the next day. It had been 2 and a half weeks since the change in her family. Pinkamena sprang up like fire lit her tail when she stirred, realizing it was day. Her frizzy mane could never untangle, no matter what Cloudy Quartz did, it never untangled. But Cloudy couldn't help to cut it. It could make it worse. Her sisters were now as giddy and excited as Pinkamena, with an exception of Maud, the oldest of the 4 sisters. After that day, it just stopped. No laughing or giggling, no jumping or yelling. Just an amused smile for every try Pinkamena did to get her to be like her. Happy. But it was all in vain, to be honest.
Pinkamena realized what was happening. It was her first day of school. She could never afford a trip, or supplies, due to the little bits they could make. It never bothered Pinkamena, but she would sometimes wonder what it was like. Now she'll see.
"MOOOOOOM!!!!!" Pinkamena screeched through the house to summon her mother. In a few short clinks and stirring in the small home, a light gray pony peered through the door with an exhausted and slightly irritated look in her eyes. Pinkamena trembled with excitement, jumping about with saddlebags on her back. Cloudy Quartz showed an amused smile. "Now Pinkamena, stay quiet. Your father is sleeping." She said kindly. Pinkamena stopped in her tracks in mid jump, landing with a soft thud. She smiled and gestured zipping her lips together, throwing the imaginary key. Cloudy Quartz giggled and only said, "Light Feather will be landing shortly. She offered to carry you to school for a bit a day. How sweet of her." She looked out the window, seeing a white blur approaching in her direction. She shielded her eyes with an outstretched hoof, smiling. "That must be her now. You better get going.", she said, pushing her toward the door with a light shove with her muzzle.
Pinkamena bolted out the door in a flash, waving and jumping excitedly. The white figure soon came into vision as the figure of a pure white pony with a long mane. In her landing, scuffing her hooves with brown flecks of dirt. The pony brushed the soil away from her hooves, giving Pinkamena a sweet smile. The pony was a white mare with long hair with soft colors of pale green, light blue, and a pale scarlet. Her tail was collecting leaves as she walk, since it always dragged the ground. Her eyes were a magenta color with dimmed pupils from her shy nature. Pinkamena began to excite herself. Light Wing greeted Pinkamena, settling into a low crouch for the pink filly to climb onto her back. "I hope your ready, Pinkamena," she said softly. "I would be devastated to see you hurt." Pinkamena only nodded, trying to contain her excitment. She was ready. She was really ready.
