Is it so wrong to think that they may love me too?
The blue alicorn mare walked into her chamber-like room softly, her horn's aura glowing with shadowed life as she firmly placed the handle in her magics grasp and closed the door. She took a deep breath, shaking her head gently and looking out the dirty window at the clear, calm night sky. She then turned to the mirror in the middle of the room and narrowed her cold aquamarine eyes.
"You did this to me! How could you?!"
The mirror only wielded an equally angry mare of the same profile. Luna walked up to it and placed a hoof on the mirror.
"I do so much! I raise the moon and the stars tirelessly! I attend all the meetings! I work so hard! I stay up most of the day and all of the night! And what do I get for it? Nothing!"
Luna lashed out at the mirror, kicking it sharply. When she saw not a crack in its surface, she watched the mirror display A mare with horn glowing, a powerful blast of magic cascading into the mirror, shattering it into pieces. She then knelt in the middle of the shards, pieces of class sinking into her fur and occasionally drawing scarlet blood. She started to cry out of anger. She picked up a piece of crystallized reflection and put in back in the empty mirror frame. This system continued as Luna started to talk again.
"Everyone thinks Celestia is so great! She raises the sun! Her sun is so gorgeous! Oh, look at the wonderful day! They simply shun my beautiful peaceful night! They ignore me! Do they even know I exist!? Do they even care!? The night is a beautiful gift that they should appreciate!"
Luna continued the process of putting the pieces back in the frame, wincing occasionally as the scarlet liquid dripped down her legs.
"Is it worth it!? Would they even notice if I didn't raise the moon? I doubt it! What's the point of all the things I do!? Its not like anyone notices me, like anyone cares! Maybe that's what I'll do! Maybe I'll just refuse to raise the moon!"
Luna walked to the window, taking a break from the fixing of the mirror. She looked outside at the bright moon and placed her hooves on the windowsill.
"I have been living a lie... no one cares!"
Luna walked over to her shelf, one of the only other objects in the room. On it was her signed pledge of alliegence to the princess. She looked at it and her horn illuminated, the paper burning into a pile of ash. She brushed her wing over the pieces of dried blood on her legs and continued her mirror fixing. She stared into the reflection of what was there of the mirror and sighed.
"Do you still love me? I hope you do, even if I don't love you. I... I still don't know why I put up with Celestia day after day. I... I should get more recognition, I should have equal power and recognition, if not more! Hmm... I won't refuse to raise the moon... I'll refuse to lower it!
As Luna put the final piece back in the mirror, her eyes began to glow, turning into slits of snakelike envy.
"If I can't be loved for simply doing my job... I'll have to force them to love me!"
And the mirror watched silently as Its master was slowly corrupted.
