I woke up to the sound of birds just waking up in the morning, greeting each other in their bird ways. Despite what many ponies think, I am NOT a morning pony. I lay in bed for five-to-ten minutes and then get up and slog my way to the balcony in order to raise the sun. In fact, Luna is more of a 'morning pony' than I am. She has no problems waking up, she doesn't even need a cup of coffee when she gets up.
My sun was rising slowly in the sky, I was flying from my tower to the garden below as Luna went to get ready for bed. She was doing extremely well in her efforts at readjusting to the thousand year jump in time she suffered. But it seems she has been having trouble socializing with other ponies, I think it might have to do with being anti-social before her banishment. I'm just thankful she was asleep that entire time, I shudder to think how her mind would be if she had been awake and alone for a thousand years with only Nightmare Moon as company.
As I landed I took in the scent of my personal garden(which I set aside an hour in the morning every day to care for.) and smiled at the scent of Morning Glories and Tulips, I walked down the aisle and took in the scent of the various spice plants. This year I was raising Ginger, Cinnamon and Oregano. Further down were my tomatoes(Grape and Big Brother) and various squash(Mother Hubbard, Zucchini and Crooked Neck) and two rows of Sweet Corn. Luna had a garden of Roses, Dragons Tongues and with Black pepper, Rosemary and Thyme. With various melons(Watermelon, Cantaloupe and Musk Melon) peppers(JalapeƱo, Bell and Chili) and Jack-O-Lantern Pumpkins.
Taking pleasure in the relaxing task of watering my garden I started to daydream about the various meals Luna and I could make when we started to get our crops from the gardens, maybe a vegetable stew? With my Morning Glories, Sweet Corn, Zucchini and Mother Hubbard. And Luna's Roses, Black Pepper, Rosemary and Thyme(and maybe her Chili Peppers.) it would be a great meal! Maybe invite the Elements for supper with Me and Luna? Regardless, there was still a month or two until the larger plants bore ripe fruit so we had plenty of time to pick a good recipe.
After watering for half an hour and weeding and doing checks on plant health I headed back to my tower and undid the ties in my mane(I had a few bad experiences with weeding and dirt.) and after a quick shower I put on my regalia and headed for the dining room. On my way I spotted a tired Luna who waved sleepily at me with a slightly dopey grin on her face as she went to her room, I'm just so happy to have her back with me. I started back on my way when Blueblood came up and hugged me, I was a bit surprised at this."What has you so happy Nephew?" I questioned, shocked at his sudden show of affection.
"You'll find out in a bit Auntie, but it is something to celebrate for sure!" He said trotting off grinning.
'Hmm, what could make Blueblood so happy other than himself or Cadance?' I wondered while I got on my way.
'My this old castle is busy today!' I remarked as I looked upon the dining hall, there were twice as many ponies than usual this morning.'Is this the reason Blueblood was so happy? No, it must be something else.' I deduced quickly thinking of his likes and dislikes.(of which there were many of the latter and few of the former. Which were in order of importance to him; Cadance, himself, Luna and I, and strangely gardening.) Unless there was a gardening convention of the highest order, then the only other reasons would be if something good happened to Cadance or himself. I decided to wait for it to make itself known, as Blueblood said 'You'll find out in a bit Auntie'.
After a quick meal of oatmeal and orange juice(which Applejack is still confused over as my choice of breakfast drink.) and reading the Ponyville Journalist to get up to speed on current events in my favorite little town. I raised a brow as I read about the Love Poison incident, and how one of the victims was strong enough to drag a full HOUSE behind him while bouncing along happily... That town was certainly not boring in the least.
After breakfast I took a pot of coffee with me on my way to court. As I looked out the window to see the line today I was pleasantly surprised to see only fifty attendees today, I usually had a hundred or more most days. Today I would have more than an hour of free time! With a happy smile on my face I signaled for court to begin. But I was surprised again this morning to see both Cadance and Shining armor as my first attendees.
I nodded after the customary bow and greeting before signaling for them to give their case, Cadance stepped forward."Auntie, um..." She fidgeted nervously as she looked to Shining Armor for courage, I raised a brow at her behavior. This was nothing like the determined and stubborn mare I raised for twenty years. "Do... you think you could... Um... officiate a-at my wedding..." she mumbled quickly.
"Hmm? Cadance dear are you alright, your not acting yourself this morning." I said hiding a yawn behind a sip of coffee. I was curious as to their reason for this visit, I hadn't heard the last part of her request and that was actually the important part! "Can you repeat that last part dear?" I asked.
"Can you officiate a-at our wedding... Please." She replied quietly. My eyes widened as I took In her words...
'Our? Wedding? She's getting married...? She's marrying Shining Armor...? Their getting MARRIED!!!'
I was slack-jawed in disbelief as I stared at my fidgeting niece...
'Cadance is getting MARRIED!?'... I squealed like a filly as I tackled the surprised mare, pulling her into a hug and spinning around. "You're getting MARRIED!!! Of course I'll officiate! Oh Cadance I'm so happy for you!" I said beaming for my niece.
