It was a lonely afternoon, you know one of those afternoons where you really don't feel like getting anything done?

Yeah, it was one of those.

Of course I live in a house with two other people, but they were both either boring or busy all the time. The house I lived in was your standard suburban house, which included two three bedrooms, and two bathrooms; which could be nice. But in my case it isn't because one of the said bathrooms doesn't work, I don't know how it just doesn't work. we've called plumbing and everything, it doesn't make sense.

It was a few days until Christmas, and the two roommates were out at work while I was back at home doing my third play through of “Dark Souls”, The best game ever in my opinion. The house was empty, save for me and my pet cat; General Fluffykins. Ha Ha, yeah laugh it up the name sure is funny, but you know what else it is?

Fucking awesome. General Fluffykins of the seventh adorable platoon.

I adjusted in my seat and rested at the In-game bonfire and paused the game. there was an eerie quietness going through the house, not even General Fluffykins’ neck bell was ringing. and if there was one thing I was more afraid of than Wheel skeletons, it was silence. Don't ask me, I just don't like it.

I get up from my velvet throne and walk to the kitchen, still that silence lingers in the air, like something really ominous was about to happen. But nothing ominous did happen, just to my luck.

I sat back down on my velvet throne and assumed the position of legs hanging half off of the side and back against the other arm of the chair.

I unpause the game and….nothing happens

it looks like the game completely froze, which partly made me angry, and partly made me concerned for the well being of my Xbox 360. I get out of my position and walk over to the Xbox, but i'm stopped by a certain noise.

*DING DONG*

“Doorbell?” I say to myself in confusion.

I walk up to the front door, which was dirty by the way and look through the peephole. There is nothing there, as expected. but I have this….strange feeling in my gut to open the door. my hand inches toward the door handle as the adrenaline goes toward my fingers, my palms become sweaty. The memories of my childhood flashback to me.

5 year old me opening the door for a stranger, the stranger trying to grab me, my mom stopping him. That's it, that's all that made me afraid to open this door in front of me.

I hesitate, and grasp the knob. I start to turn it slightly, and I pull the door open slightly and ball my other hand into a fist, if I was going to die, I might as well die with a fight.

I swing the door open with a “I KNOW KARATE!” with one eye open and the other half closed.

But there was no stranger, nor was there a wheel skeleton in sight. I wipe the sweat that was gathering on my brow and start to close the door.

But something stopped me, which was a something I had never thought I would see in a million lifetimes.

There was a basket sitting at my doorstep, yes, a wicker basket (blanked included) sitting at my motherfucking doorstep.

I exhale deeply and let out a groan. I lean down and pick up the basket, maybe Easter is coming early? I think with a shrug. The basket had a little bit of weight to it, which kinda scared me because it was a large weight, kinda like a-

I stopped thinking right there. No, there's not a child in this.

I carried the basket into the living room and set it down in front of the couch. I sat on said couch and looked down at the basket with wide eyes. I looked down at it intensely, like it was the last loaf of bread in a desolate wasteland.

I reached down and moved the blanket to the side to reveal a small tuft of pink fabric covering something white, oh thank the sun its not a-

“Momma?”

My hands fly into my face and I perform the fabled double face palm. The white moves a little to reveal a tiny horse, with a horn on the top of his/her head. It looks at me confused while I give it my signature face of uncertainty.

I look down at the bundle of adorableness which was now chewing on its own hair as the small being stared back at me.

“So..” I say looking down at the little creature. It did not speak back,as it continued to chew on its adorable pink hair.

“Lets find out what you are.” I reach down and pick up the small creature. It seems to have four legs, each of which are more adorable than the last. I don't know how i've gone this long without having a heart attack.

It seems to have fur, and a muzzle. I would mistake this for a horse, but i've never had a horse call me momma.

But calling it a horse feels somewhat right, maybe a pony?

“Momma!” the small...pony said as it reached out and poked my nose with a hoof.

This pony had a really bad problem differing genders.

“Momma!” the pony said again, booping my nose again.

“Uhhhhhhhhh.” I said as I held the pony out in front of me. She just giggled and flailed around in my hands.

I put her back into the basket and ran my hands through my hair. I stood up and started pacing back and forth in the room.

“Okay, so the doorbell rings, I open the door and this” I point at the basket with the now sleeping pony in it. “What am I missing?” I ask myself as I pace around the room. I suddenly hear my cell phone ring, which meant that someone was trying to contact me. I take my phone out of my pocket and look at the caller ID. “Nina Calling” it said as my Ornstein and Smough ringtone played on a loop. I squinted at it as I slid bar across the large screen to answer the call.

“Hello?” I ask putting the phone to my ear.

“Max, im driving to your house-apartment-lodge thing now.” she said in response.

My eyes grow wide as I remember the multicolored pony that was in my living room.

“uhhhhhh, why are you coming over today of all days?” I ask as I start walking around my house and picking up the shit that I left around. Let me stop myself here, and explain who Nina is. Well you see, Nina and I have been like siblings since we met in college, and damn did we get ourselves into some shenanigans.

“Do you forget that tonight is the new episode of Manic Mayhem?” She asks me as I throw some clothes into a hamper, then go to check on the sleeping pony, who was still indeed, asleep.
